This product only works on permant colors, just like it reads on the box, 'it doesn't work with henna or gradual color restorers.' In other words, it will not remove semi- permanent or so called 'wash out' dyes. The only bad reviews of this product sound like the person is trying to remove henna dye. So read the 'caution' statements on the box. I love this product, it works excellent if you use it for what it was designed.

Oh Dear...What a DISASTER. My fill-in Hairsytlist Dyed my over processed hair Golden Brown & got Black. DON'T use PRELL, Tide, HEad & Shoulders, Baking soda... or other harsh shampoos. I bought one'n only Colorfix Jheri Redding. I wasn't sure how much to buy as I have longhair. So i bought 2 boxes. I only needed 1/4 a bottle, But it was Sooooooooooooo worth it! Now i can have it on hand for the NEXT time it happens to me..and it will.. or a friend. The big tip here is: Don't use the Processing lotion as it dries your hair out and you'll have to re-dye. I mixed 1 oz (1/4) of the bottle Color Reducer & 1 oz (1/4) of the bottle of Conditioning Catylist to 2 oz of GOOD shampoo in a bowl. USE GLOVES I applied it the the ends first going up to the roots. I left it on for 45 minutes under a plastic bowl cover that doubled as a hair shower cap. It came out PERFECT medium golden brown. tho i purchased the lighter brown dye just in case.. there was absolutely NO need to re- dye! IT was kind of stinky but the shampoo and conditioner took most of that away. I conditioned AGAIN under the shower cap for 45 minutes to an hour .. tho it isn't harsh.. again Just in case.. and Voila!

Hair color removal only means that it strips your hair so you can put a color over it. For instance if you dye your hair black and try and re-color it, it will not come out unless you strip it. Then you find a color close to your natural color or whatever color you want it and color your hair after you strip it. My hair was dyed black. I had to strip it, it turned an orange color then I used a dark brown after stripping it and it is now close to my color. I am not sure how this product is because I never used it but thats my advice from experience.
