I got bored and decided to dye my hair black. I kept it black for about six months until I got sick of it. My friend who's a hairstylist told me the only way to get it out was to put bleach in my shampoo. I didn't want to go that route so I researched online and found Colorfix. This totally worked on my hair. It got the black out and basically gave me a deep red underneath and brownish red highlights on top. I'm going to keep my hair like this for a short period before I dye it again. But seriously if your looking to fix your color without damaging your hair I highly recommend this product!!!
It worked!

On my advice my daughter used permanent, soft black dye to get rid of the lighter and reddish hair she'd dyed her naturally dark brown hair. The brown dyes in the store didn't look dark enough to match her roots and I said she needed the black. The horror! She looked "Goth" and we tried a few remedys we found online... dawn dish soap, hairspray, went to a salon, they said it would take several trips and a LOT of money. Google search led us to Folica.com and this product and lots of hopeful, helpful reviews. We tried it, it smelled bad, but it worked great. We skipped the processing lotion like so many reviews suggested, and got great results, her brown hair was back, senior year saved, and the sticky stiff feel her hair had after the dye job went away. Smelled for awhile, 4 or 5 shampoos. But overall great results.

After reading the reviews, I purchased Color Fix The product lifted the BLACK with very little loss of hair or damage. I did not use the processing lotion. Yes, I was left with a carrot red with BLACK blotches of color but I was not worried. I used two boxes of the haircolor and was extremely satisfied with the results (although it did not cover all of my grey, I plan to purchase a product that should solve this minor detail). The next day, I washed my hair again because I still had the smell. I used Phyto hair mask for color treated hair (worth the price). I also purchased a flat iron based on a recommendation I used the Tourmaline to straighten my hair. I now have a beautiful natural custom blend of color (not flat) with highlights! Surprise, the flat iron removed any remaining SMELL. LOVE YOUR WEBSITE!!!

poof! I've been dying my hair black for about a year. I decided I no longer liked the goth look it gave me (I'm pale as a ghost), and wanted it out and fast. Color Fix is the ONLY product that lightened my hair. Yes, like the rest I had a red tint, but the black was gone. The tips are still quite dark, and I'm working on lightening them. I have faith in this product, and with time hope to be back to my natural light brown!
maybe i did it wrong.

the first time i used it, it looked great, it was exectly what i had wanted... and then i washed it with that stuff it says to use and it made my hair a lot darker, like it had been before. so when my husband came home we tried it again, we did what it said exectly! and this time i really thought it was going to work, and it did, for a while anyways, my hair is back to the normal color it was before. so all in all it didn't work.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you...

to all those who wrote reviews, comments and suggestions as well as the wonderful company that makes this product.
My story:
I like my hair a strawberry blonde. I have grey in front and this time I decided to go "a bit darker" using L'oreal Medium Reddish Blonde instead of Light Reddish Blonde. Disaster! Someone had switched the color tubes in the box and I got a Light Auburn (I didn't even check until after!) instead. Well, the color was totally garish. This happened on Saturday and on Sunday I started calling salons to see if it could be "fixed". Long story short - after $145 worth of "color corrections" and highlights, it still looked awful. I suffered with it on Monday, enduring comments from some (insensitive) family members. Unable to sleep on Monday night, I decided to search the internet and found this site. I too probably read every single review and then went to Sally first thing this morning to get the product. I used the "slight color correction" instructions (1 part Solutions 1 and 2 to 4 parts shampoo, didn't use Solution 3 at all)and left it on about 25 minutes, conditioned it well, and my color is back! And my hair is nice and soft, even after the four processes and multiple shampoos. The best part is that the highlights are still there, so it wasn't a total waste of money. But here is my question - WHY DON'T PROFESSIONAL STYLISTS KNOW ABOUT THIS???!!!
Anyway, many, many thanks to the network of women who helped me make the right decision!!
P.S. The smell wasn't so bad - maybe because I mixed in the shampoo?
It worked

I've been box dying my hair for about 9 years since my hair started losing its highlights and then greys started coming in. I've been using semi-permanent for years but over the last year I've been using some permanent dyes. It usually looks pretty good but sometimes got too red, apparently from dye buildup. The last color I used in an attempt to correct the too red tone turned it into a fairly dark brown - much darker than my natural hair color. I met an old boyfriend from 30 years ago who said my hair was a lot darker than it used to be. Well, that did it. The whole point to dying my hair was get my pretty gold and red highlights back into my medium brown hair. I tried a highlighting kit and that helped a lot but there was still this unnatural flat dark brown in most of the hair. After reading all the reviews on Color Fix, I decided to try it and got some dark blond dye to correct the color afterwards.
I don't really know what my natural color is now or how much grey is there. I think there is a fair amount of grey now, but I haven't let it grow enough to tell.
I strand tested ColorFix first and it seemed to lift some of the dark brown dye while leaving the highlights alone and no horrible colors. I then mixed up about 1/4 each of the 1 & 2 bottles and applied it to my hair all over and covered it with a shower cap. I left it on for about 25 minutes after warming it with a blow dryer for a few minutes. It looked considerably lighter - too light, I thought. I washed it out with a mix of half conditioner and half shampoo to be easy on my hair. It looked a lot better, but the underside of my hair and near the scalp was still a lot darker. I snipped a small strand and applied the processing lotion on it to see if the dye was still there. It darkened, so I mixed up the rest of the bottles which really was a bit too much, and applied it all over and made sure to get every strand all the way to the scalp. Shower cap on again but I didn't bother with the hair dryer again. 20 minutes this time. I washed it out again with half conditioner and half shampoo. It looked really good. My hair is now a light brown to blond highlights. I think the highlighting job is lighter now, but looks good. My hair is a rich mix of golden brown - a little lighter than I remember it from my youth, but really a pretty color. I applied the processing lotion because I didn't want to get any surprises on color after dying it. The processing lotion made it very slightly darker or maybe just a richer shade. The second time, the dark brown dye seems to be completely gone. When my hair is damp, the color is a rich golden brown with blond highlights and looks like my hair used to after a summer in the sun when I was young. Dried, it is a shade lighter than that.
It is really pretty with no weird color tones. I might not dye over it until my greys start showing. I'll give it a couple of days before deciding. This time, I'll use a fairly light shade on the advice that it will probably turn a little darker anyway. I suspect if I had used Colorfix before I tried the highlighting, the returned color might have been a little more even and not as light. Surprisingly, where I think there is mostly grey is also a pretty light gold brown where I didn't highlight it. Maybe there is still some dye in it, but it is the right amount now.
The stuff stinks some, but not all that bad. My curly hair was starting to tangle as I rinsed the stuff out, but I just put a good dollop of conditioner on it and it smoothed right out. After it dried, it was quite a bit lighter and a little straw feeling. I put a protein deep conditioner on it, then more regular conditioner and it feels really good now. I will keep this stuff on hand.
My blonde hair is back, and it's beautiful!!!

I've been coloring my mostly gray hair blonde for years and it always looked very nice. But I had a dumb idea to color it light reddish brown, my original color. Mistake!!! I felt like I looked dull and drab and dirty. My husband said it didn't look like my natural color, but I don't know how he can remember that far back. lol Anyway, I was so thrilled to read all the positive reviews on this site because everyone was telling me I had to go to the beauty shop and have the brown bleached out. But after reading these reviews, I went to Sally's and got a box of ColorFix on sale for $9.99. I did not do the 3rd step (processing lotion) because of what I had read here. [I do think the 3rd step is important if you've dyed your hair black or very dark, but I had only gone 3 levels and had already gotten a lot of it out with repeated washings with clarifying shampoo.]
I had expected a horrendous odor and it did stink, but it really wasn't that overwhelming. I mean, my husband makes the bathroom smell much worse! As soon as I finished, I wrapped everything up in a plastic bag and carried it outside to the garbage.
I rinsed my hair for 5 full minutes and then shampooed. I let my hair air dry overnight. It was slightly orange. The next day I applied my normal light blonde color and it came out BEAUTIFUL!!! I am thrilled beyond measure. I agree with whomever said ColorFix is a miracle in a box!!! There was absolutely NO damage to my hair or irritation to my scalp. My hair looks shiny and healthy and I am VERY HAPPY!!! I hope to never make such a silly mistake again, but if I do I will certainly not hesitate to use ColorFix! I'm so thrilled that I didn't pay some beautician a lot of money to ruin my hair with bleach!!!
didn't work for me!!!

I have been dying my hair for about 11yrs. My natural color is a med golden blonde and I have wanted to go back for years, but I had dyed my hair black, stripped it and ended up having to cut off 6-8 inches, because it damaged my hair so bad. I then covered it with Feria's Chocolate Cherry and have been doing so for about 5 yrs. Then I found this web site and was sooooo excited. I got 2 bottles and followed the directions-minus the processing lotion. The first bottle I used all of the contents and left it on for 45 mins. My hair came out a natural looking light red. Which would have been fine, but I wanted to get the blonde back. Now I know that ColorFix does not give u your natural hair, so I got a dye Nice 'N Easy's med golden blonde. I knew that it would not cover the light red, so I used the second bottle and left on the same amount of time. My hair came out a bright reddish-orange. So I then used the dye I had bought, but no luck. Needless to say I could not return to work like this, so I had to go and buy a med natural brown just to cover it up. It still looks not great, but what else could I do. I was very dissappointed as I thought it would get the dye out so I could use a blonde that would take to my hair. I spent about $50.00 just to have a crappy looking brown. I will never try this again. So, if after reading all the great reviews, you still wish to try, I wish you luck and want to remind you don't get your hopes up to high, like I did!!!

Ok, well I dyed my beautiful red curly hair blue with punky colours about 6 months ago. I wound up dying it a total of 3 times. Well anyway, it faded into an icky greenish-grey color. Yes I know, disgusting. I wanted my lovely red hair back, and nothing else (washing with baking soda, dishliquid, even tried laundry detergent!!!) would work. I felt like complete crap, like my identity was gone. My hair defined who I was pretty much, and it depressed me to look in a mirror. I needed to do something, so I looked up hair dye removers and somehow got to this very page you're reading right now. I read all the reviews and was amazed at how well it seemed to work. I went to sally's and got a box, and I DO NOT REGRET IT ONE BIT! I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!! I was actually planning to re-dye my hair, but it took my hair back to my natural color! This is a miracle! Of course, there is one spot near my face that is still greenish, but it isnt even that noticable (besides, I didnt put the colorfix on that area. i have extremely fair, sensitive skin and didnt want to irritate it.)
Oh and about the smell- It doesnt even smell that bad. Trust me- I've smelled a lot worse things.
Thank you colorfix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a momentary lapse of judgement, i dyed my hair using Clairol Natural Instincts Semi-Permanent (hah!) "Midnight". Big mistake. If you come across this site and are contemplating that exact color, please reconsider. This color does not exist in nature. I looked scary. After trying the Clairol Uncolor, which did absolutely nothing, I headed to a pricey salon that specializes in color and color correction. An hour and a half later, the "Midnight" would not budge. The stylist told me my only options were weeks, maybe even months of shampooing with Prell or professionally stripping (bleaching) my hair and starting the cycle of hair dye all over again. I went home with less money and even less hope. I stumbled across this site (thank you) while tyring to find an outlet to bash the Clairol Uncolor. I saw the star average for the one 'n only colorfix and I started to read. I ran out that night (to Sally's Beauty Supply)and got the kit. Here's what I did...I mixed the bottles (1/2 of each) according to directions and applied to dry hair, put on the cap, and sat with a hair dryer for 45 minutes, rinsed, shampooed, conditioned. The color was a bit orangey copper, particularly in the front, but the black was completely gone. I did not use the last step with the lotion. I decided to use a medium brown semi-permanent after towel drying to tone down the copper color. Another big mistake. After just a couple minutes, my hair was black again. I had read in a couple reviews that this had happened. Ugh! Two days later, I used the second half of the two bottles and left it on for only 20 minutes without the hair dryer. Rinsed, shampooed, conditioned and perfect. The product was extremely gentle on my hair and didn't seem to cause any damage- even on the second try. For the first couple days, my hair had really pretty copper highlights throughout. They have since toned down and my hair is back to a nice rich brown color with no sign of the "Midnight". Please tell your friends and stylists about this product! Just perfect.

After years of dying my ash dark brown hair black, I had decided to remove the color. I went to three hair salons and all of the stylists told me that the removal of the haircolor was going to be very complicated and the results may be unpredictable. So like a genius I went to the pharmacy and decided to just dye my hair a light brown with a box of dye. The results were horrible!! I ended up with red roots and the rest of the hair remained intact. Luckily the next morning, I found a salon that did get rid of the black. However, that took forever and it cost a lot of money and I had red hair. The red hair is part of the process since it takes a lot of bleaching for the hair to to go from black to red, to brown. For weeks I had gotten compliments on my new red haircolor since my lovely black was too harsh. Then after I started getting roots, I got a box of dark brown dye and it turned out black again!! The reason for that was that my hair was too porous. I hysterically called the haircolor support line only to be told that I should always STRAND TEST and that I had to bleach my hair!! I knew I couldn't afford the expense of having it professionally redone so I looked online and found these reviews and purchased Colorfix. I then STRAND TESTED the Colorfix and the color was orange but I heard that I could darken. I tried it all over my hair and it did remove the color. My hair did darken overnight to a dark auburn. I SKIPPED THE PROCESSING LOTION but I cut a piece of hair and STRAND TESTED with that to see if it would darken and it did, to black. I am fortunate that my hair hasn't fallen off and the smell was just as bad as when I went to the salon. I am waiting for my hair to grow back to its natural color. This product lightened my hair without bleaching and it left it in the same level of softness as before the product was used. Please note that it's important to always TEST STRAND and use a good conditioner to nurture the damaged hair, and I AM HAPPY THAT THIS PRODUCT EXISTS!!

My hair was dyed black and I wanted to lighten it again... I had used Loreal effasol in the past and had a bad experience with it, it got the dye out but my hair wouldn't hold any dye after I used it, I was stuck with very blonde hair, and it was very dried out. SO this time I looked around the beauty discount store and found a box of this (for only $11.95) and tried it. It worked well, it turned my hair a pretty red color, but started to get darker as the day went on, so I tried using Sun In to lighten it again... my hair went back to black, so I used it again, then it started darkening again... so i tried using a dark blong hair color to match my natural color and... again it went back to black, so i lightened it again, and it darkened again and so on and so forth. This product is good because it doesn't make hair blotchy or dry like the effasol does, but it's not very reliable to lighten hair and keep it light.
On the lighter side, i've used it probably 6 or 7 times in the course of 4 days and my hair is still there, and feels healthier than before I used it.
Thank goodness for Color Fix

Thought I would color my hair from a medium redish brown to a medium brown. My hair turned flat, dead black. I was horrified since I was going to my sisters wedding in a week. I was thinking how horrid her wedding pictures would look with me looking like a bar fly. I researched this website and found all the really good reviews for Color Fix. I went to Sally's and picked up two bottles. Since I had screwed my hair up so badly with the color, I decided I would go with the conservative process where you add the shampoo. I left the solution on my hair for 20 minutes and rinsed. I did do a leave on conditioner and rinsed. I was so relived when I dried my hair and it was a lovely reddish brown, a little darker than my original color, but hey, I was no longer Mortia Adams. My hair had depth, shine and dimension and was very soft.
Thank goodness for Color Fix, it is a miracle!!!

After years and years of dyeing my own hair because of the grey, then going to a salon and back to dyeing on my own again because of cost issues, my hair eventually turned a dark, dark brown...almost black. I dyed again using a light color only to find it didn't do the job...my hair was still black. Obviously my hair would not take color anymore because of all the buildup. I went online to see if there was a product I could use to strip all that bad color out and came across the One & Only ColorFix. After reading the many reviews, I drove to Sally's to get 2 boxes. I used one, left it on for 20 minutes and my hair was a strawberry blond with grey roots. I was very nervous with the outcome. Even tho most of the reviews said to skip the processing step, I decided to use it to maybe darken my hair a little bit (strawberry blonde would have been way too light as my natural color is a medium brown). It did darken it but to a more natural brown color. I was thrilled!! I then used a deep conditioner which left it pretty soft. I will have to color again to get rid of the grey roots which I plan to do in a week or so. I'm hoping the color will turn out and match the color as shown on the box and not turn dark again. We'll see what happens. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product to anyone. IT WORKS!!

I have waist-length fine hair that was medium brown. I have been dying it black for 5+ years, ever since the first (stupid) time, for fear of looking trashy with grown-out roots. I have used an entire box of this product, and now my hair is bright reddish-brown-so I'll probably get another box and try it again. No damage, however-skipped the processing lotion.

Colorfix did what it is designed to do. Basically, my hair was mistakenly dyed metallic black instead of dark brown. It lightened my hair each time I used it until I got the desired shade. It did not harm my hair in any way. I didn't even have to redye my hair. I am happy someone developed this product for people to use at home. I'd recommend it to all my friends.

Boredom IS a dangerous thing. In my state of boredom, i decided to dye my beautiful dark brown hair black with Natural Instincts Neutral black color. To my horror, i looked goth. Naturally, i freaked out, and tried all the at home remedies... shampooed my hair like 10 times a day, used hot oil, baking soda (doesn't work, don't bother)...
In any case, I found this product, and read the reviews on this site and took a chance---the outcome was amazing.
Here's what i did to remove the SEMI-PERMANENT dye:
I did the shampoo mixture, except i put a lot more than the directions said (i have long thick hair). I did put equal amounts of the two bottles, and then about 1/4 of the total mixture was shampoo. I had already done a test strand, so i was good to go. I put the entire mixture on my head and lathered (the first time i had tried this i hadn't put the entire mixture, and got minimal results)
Anyway, i kept it on for about 45 minutes to an hour, doing strand tests every now and then. I washed it out (note that no color will run out, so don't panic), shampooed, and put on a hardcore conditioning mask.
It took away all the black, and i was left with my natural color, INCLUDING my natural highlights! i think the strands around my face are a little darker than my original color, but the overall result is AMAZING. my hair was left shiny, and as strong as it had started out as...
This stuff does stink, but who cares, just open windows in your house- it's worth it
I sincerely hope this posting helps someone with the natural instincts disaster that i had suffered through!
