So, I was stupid and dyed my bottom underneath black, well I got it professionally done and it looked fine, I mean I loved it but after about 6 months, I was like nah nevermind. I bleached the heck out of it 6 months ago and it turned a freaky orange brassy like the color of my mom's brass bed lol. So I got it done professionally again, I told her I wanted it OUT its done. She was like there is no hope, so we dyed the bottom a weird light auburn color. After a few months of that, I wanted it to be blonde, like the rest of my hair. So went professionally again to someone else, this was about 2 weeks ago. My hair turned pink. A reddish pink. She was like sorry can't do anything about that. The WORST part of it, was it was only the ends, I mean like Christina Aguilera kind, my roots were blond because I wanted to grow that crap out. I loved my hair and didn't want to chop it off. Well about a few days ago, I interviewed for a local model job here in town, I got hired...on one condition...fix my pink hair. I was like ha ha, thats so easy!!!! In my mind I was freaking out, how the heck am I going to do that???? So, I bought colorfix...I used step 1 and 2 just now, no step 3 and OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY HAIR IS BLONDE!!!!! GOLDEN BLONDE!!!!! I am shocked!!!!!! The only thing I reget is I *WISH* I would have taken before and after pics to show you guys!!! ITS AMAZING!!!! I am still freaking out, the pink has been in my hair for 2 weeks, and its GONE. GONE!!!!!!!! If you want to save your hair do it!!!! ITS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, how pathetic.

Hah, I used this product and same for my friend. It did not do ANYTHING. All it did was make our hair smell like eggs for a week and dry out our hair. I would not reccomend it.

So, i have naturally light dusty brown hair, and i've been dying it red (natural instincts 24 wash out). but then, stupidly, i wanted to go black - jet black. so i dyed it using natural instincts again which is NON PERMANENT. but, 3-4 months later, it was still in my hair! and my roots were growing and i looked so pale and drab! so i looked allll over the internet finding something to take the color out and all the other products had so much more bad comments and ratings compared to one'n'noly color fix. so i bought it and the first time i used it it got really light! but then i used step 3 and it went to a dark brown color. the next day i used the other box and left it on for longer and didnt use step 3 and now its a beautiful auburn!! and it naturally creates lowlights and highlights so it looks more natural, not all one color. however, my hair is dry but i naturally have sensitive hair so im deep conditioning it frequently.and it smells but it's worth it! it wasn't anything that will fry your hair, its very light! i recommend it
And they said nothing could take balck out

I've been coloring my hair (Naturally light ash brown)blue black for many years. Not out of a box, though- I always mix it myself. I got bored with it, go figure. I wanted to go blonde or brown, depending on how much color I could remove. The chick at Sally suggested this weird stuff. I took the bait, bought two boxes. Four treatments later I have medium Auburn hair. So much for black not coming out. I also had a bad habit of re-dyeing my entire head when I did my roots!
I'm impressed. Also, I have only some moderate dryness, no real damage- and I didn't use step three. My head does reek of Photo finishing chemicals, though.

Like others, I was sooooo hesitant to try this. I'm writing this in the off chance that it helps someone like it helped me. I've been coloring my (what was golden brown)hair for the past 15 years and am at least 50% gray. I've never strayed too far blond or too far brown. I've never been thrilled spending $ at the salon for a color that is only about 15% better than what you can do on your own so I started dying my hair again at home. It's usually not a problem for me, but this last time, I went too red in trying to subtly darken (ironically buying a golden brown). I knew that when the sun took its turn with my hair, I was going to be VERY BRASSY in no time. I simply hated the color and knew what was coming.
Not wanting to go back to my salon (b/c you should never apologize to anyone but yourself for your hair), I did some researching. I actually first bought L'Oreal color zap but when I looked into the box, I saw it was a packet of bleach and some developer. I took it back to Sally's and got Color Fix. I can't tell you how hesitant I was to try either product b/c I've had my hair stripped out (at a salon) before and it's horrible. It's shocking. I thought there was no way I could do this on my own. However, I read the posts on this site and it gave me courage so I got Color Fix and I'm glad I did. This is what I did:
full corrective, left on for 25 minutes ( I was about 1.5 - 2 levels too dark)
rinsed, conditioned, examined
decided to use step 3 since my hair was waaaay too light now-- too orangey -- left it in for about 4 minutes. It darkened a wee bit, not enough for my taste.
Dried with hairdryer
recolored with permanent l'oreal excellence dark ash blond. Left on for 6 minutes only, shampooed, and conditioned like mad.
Results? Unbelievable!!! I feel so empowered!! My hair color is exactly where I wanted it to be and in another few days, I expect that it will look even better. The bottom line is that if you hate what you've done to your hair, take the time, read the reviews and the tips here and you will be able to fix your mistake. I'm so glad I did it. Good luck. You can do this.
Oh and the smell? THEE slightest problem in what I'm sure is a string of problems if you're here.
Golden girl again!!

I have been dying my hair for the past 25 years - since I was 9 years old, so I know my way around hair dye. But even make mistakes sometimes, and boredom can be very dangerouws...with all of those lovely colours to try and so little time.....anyhoo, my story goes like this: I HAD cornsilk blonde waistlength hair. Why change it? Yes I know, I'm a fool. Spouse suggests go red. I think about it for a few weeks... haven't been red in many years, but I do know that red plus light blonde = PINK. So I decide to go to a professional, who said he could do my hair so I would not have the normal, difficult and expensive 'upkeep' redheads require....he 'fills' or pre-pigments it with a blackcherry primer. Then he dyes it overall a dark blackcherry - guess that means he dyed it twice. It was nice... for a day - until it washed out PINK! PINK waistlength hair! I bawled and called in sick to work. I had him strip it twice, damaging my hair and turning me electric apricot. Then he bleached it and it all snapped off, in some spots were only two inches long where they were once waistlength. And it was still electric peach coloured! I was going to throw myself off a roof. I had to cut most of it off and found another colorist who made it cornsilk blode again and also gave me extensions. I grew out my hair for a year and it was starting to look normal again so I took out the extensions. Spouse suggests red again. Ya right. Well I did it anyway. And it took 6-7 applications over 2 months to get it to stay red. but in some places it was pink, so I had to cut more off. Spouse and friends told me it was too harsh and that I was better as a blonde.. I had to agree. I found this site and read reviews going back to 2004. I decided to give it a shot... anything had to be better than my last experience! Well let me tell you that in one application of this magic potion the black cherry hair went to a lovely ginger colour. The second application brought me to a pretty golden blonde colour. I am thrilled I did not have to recolour. It really does stink - family complained for days and I smelled it on my hair all the time... recommend deep conditioning right afterwards to relax the hair's cuticle. Don't bother with step 3 as I read in past reviews it isn't necessary. Beware though that people claim it didn't work for them... I believe it didn't because of 2 things: they used semipermanent/gradual fade colour which a different chemical makeup than regular permanent colour. This product is meant to react with the latter, not the former. As well it is possible that they did not follow instructions properly. If you're thinking about it, give it a shot. I wish I'd known about this product 2 years ago... I lost 5 years of growth because of what that guy did. But I'm happy now!(if ever I make another mistake I know what to do!)

I had been dying my light brown hair darker for several years, including having it nearly black for over a year, so I was extremely skeptical. But it worked! Here's what I did. I did three rounds of the full color correction (using half of each bottle the first time, a quarter of each the next two times), leaving it on each time for about an hour, adding heat every now and then. I put it all over my hair the first time, and then just on the still-darker parts the second two times. It was very easy to monitor what it was doing to my hair while I had it in.
My hair all turned out a light strawberry blond. I was going to dye it dark ash blonde, but I did a strand test (make sure to do this!) and it turned out very dark (I'm sure because I had the Colorfix on my hair so long). So I used the processing lotion for about 3 minutes, since people said that had darkened their hair. It darkened the strawberry color to a pretty, natural looking light coppery brown that is still light enough to get close to my natural light ash brown. It looks okay, but I will probably try to tone down the red with a dye in the next couple days. I used a deep conditioner each time I rinsed out the Colorfix, and then did a hot oil treatment when I was all done, and my hair is in as good a condition as it was when I started. Overall, Colorfix worked great!
it actually worked!

My natural color is dark blond/light brown but I have been dying my hair for several years. I was very skeptical about Colorfix, because my hair had been dyed very dark, nearly black, every couple months for about a year.
Here's what I did. I did three rounds of the full color adjustment, mixing equal parts of the first two bottles in an applicator bottle (about half of each bottle the first time, the a quarter of each bottle the next two times), and then leaving it on anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, adding heat every so often. It took three applications to get the longer parts of my hair to match my roots, but eventually it was all a very light strawberry blond color. My goal was really just to get all the dye out and start over and that definitely happened. I was going to dye it dark ash blond, but I did a strand test and it got pretty dark (I'm sure because I had the Colorfix on so long). So I just used the processing lotion, leaving it on for just about 3 minutes, since people said that had darkened their hair. And the processing lotion darkened my hair just a little to a very natural looking light coppery brown. I may try to tone down the red in the next couple weeks but it really does look natural so I'll wait and see. Each time I rinsed out the mixture I used a deep conditioner, and then I did a hot oil treatment when I was totally finished, and my hair appears to be in just as good a condition as it was when I started. I'm very happy with the final result!

great - product did what it said it would do , also left hair perfectly ready to color. Did not notice ANY damage kinda strange since its taking color out . Had blonde, then burgendy after salon screwed it up and couple boxes of auburn over that did the job. Got sick of it, Red is hard to remove so Im very happy with this product. Im leaving my hair alone now ....back to ash blonde with highlights at least till next month :).

I have dark blonde hair with a lot of brassy red undertones. It turns red unless it is really bleached with highlights. I decided to try and dye at home - what a mistake! My hair was really orange at the roots. I had used semi-permanent and even though colorfix says that it is not for semi, I tried it anyway. It turned it a light strawberry blonde which was pretty, but I was not used to it. Now I have just put some high and low lights in to break up the red. It really did work.

I had dyed my hair a bright red colour in September 2006. I loved the colour, but it was soo hard to maintain, because it faded so quickly and I had to dye it every three weeks. Being a permanent dye, I knew it wasn't good for my hair at all. So I bought a dark brown colour to try cover up the red. But it was still pretty bright red. I did this three times, with three different brown colours. I was getting soo bored and annoyed with red, and wanted to stop dying my hair becuase I'm only 15 and it's ruins it sooo much. So I found this product, and began to get really excited, because I'm naturally blond, and wanted to get my golden hair back. I followed the instructions word for word, but after the first set of application, my hair was orange. So I proceeded to do another application. But still my hair was orange. So I had to go and get another dye (which totally defeated the point of me buying this product). Now my hair still isn't as blond as I'd hoped, but I guess that will teach me for dying my hair bright red!
Loves it!

So It looks like I will be review number 173. I hope it helps boost someones confidence. I will admit I was skeptical about this product seeing as I too am a chronic hair dyer. I dont know my natural shade anymore. But I always go "seasonal" with my hair meaning, for the fall brown to auburn and then spring summer with blonde and back to square one. Anywho so I bought this today after reading the reviews and skipped the third processing lotion as everyone here says its horrid. Had my friend slap it on and here I am! No longer a red head. But now a nice golden blonde. I loved it! I am a sucker for being a red head and being blonde is my second fave! So after the numerous bleaching disasters I have been through to be able to strip the red out this easy and quickly I have to say this stuff impressed me. I even used what little bit was left and put it in my friends poor bleached hair and it took out the funky orange red and evened out her tone so she has a sorta golden blondeish red thing going on but was very excited about the results as well. I just wish we knew about this a week ago before we bleached her hair(she was a red head too)so like everyone else here it comes highly recommended as well! The only downside the smell...ugh. The bottles are deceptive as you open them they smell all flowery but then once its mixed and applied it smells like rotten eggs. But the stuff is good! It kinda did fry my hair a little bit to be honest but not as bad as bleach would have done and nothing a few deep conditioners wont fix! Good luck!

I have been terrible to my hair, my entire life: colouring, bleaching, highlights, the works. My hair was in such bad shape, I got hair extensions just to make it look healthier. Well, soon enough I got bored of the colour and started messing with it. And foolish me did not consider that the extensions would take dye differently than my natural hair. Long story short, after FIVE dye jobs in two days (including bleached blonde, chestnut brown semi, and permanent fire engine red), my hair was an absolute disaster and for once, I wasn't sure what to do. It looked so bad, I didn't even want to leave the house to go to a salon. I found this product online at Folica and ordered immediately. It arrived in Canada a day later, and I used it right away, figuring that it was too good to be true and that it would either not work on my mess or it would make my hair fall out. I used most of the bottles on my hair, wrapped it in plastic, then slapped a heating pad on my hair for 40 minutes, then repeated with the remaining mixture plus shampoo for aonther 40 minutes. I cannot tell you how shocked I was. My hair is such a gorgeous colour, probably the nicest I've ever had. It lifted it from a very dark red auburn, to a beautiful golden blonde and the condition is better than when I started! I am going to buy several more boxes of Color Fix to keep on hand - it really is a miracle product and I can't recommend it enough!
Got the Dark Brown Out...But Not Completely

I had been dying my naturally ashy medium to light brown hair a Level 2 Dark Brown from Second Nature for about 3 years. (BTW - for those of you out there who want a nice dark brown that doesn't turn black, Clairol's Second Nature is really good). However, now I want to go back to being blonde after being told that the dark brown was way too harsh for my pale skin tone. Sooo...I heard about Colorfix from research on the web and read all the posts here, which were very informative and helpful. The first time I applied it, I did all 3 steps - after steps 1 & 2, I noticed my hair was an orangey color with the ends pretty light. However, after step 3, it darkened back to a pretty dark shade. The end result was it was a little bit lighter shade of brown than the dark, but not by much. I waited a week and put a second application on, this time leaving it on for an hour with heat apllied the whole time and NOT using step 3! It looked great! A beautiful strawberry blonde color with some medium reddish brown. It looked very natural. Unfortunatley, after a couple of days it darkened back to a still too dark but ligher shade of brown with alot of red undertones. Applied a 3rd batch a week later and got the same results as the first - gorgeous color hair for the first few days then turns darker. However, it is now a medium golden brown color which is pretty close to my roots so I can live with that (Colorfix did NOT change my roots, which was great). It definitely is not that dark brown anymore. Now I'm waiting a month and am going to the salon to get highlights - the only way to truly go to blonde, at least for me. Also, despite what other posts say, this stuff SMELLS! And it takes a long time for the odor to completely be removed from your hair. I still detect traces of the odor when the hair is wet and the last time I did a Colorfix was 2 weeks ago. Also, have a good conditioner on hand because this stuff does do a little amount of damage to the hair, again, despite what some people have claimed about it leaving their hair in better condition. I have long, very shiny, straight, healthy hair that can really take a beating and I noticed damage. Good luck!

I had dyed black hair and when my natural hair colour (which is a light brown) started to grow out it looked absolutely horrible. So i was looking on the internet to find something i could order to strip the colour out. Every product i found involved bleach which would have totally fried my hair. Then i came across colorfix. it didnt involve any bleach and from the other reviews i read was really easy on your hair. so i ordered it from this site. im in canada and together with shipping and handling it cost me 50 bucks. so i figured this stuff better work. So i mixed about half and half of the two bottles and left it on my hair for about 30 minutes. when i washed it out my hair was the most beautiful auburn colour (so close to my natural colour) and my hair was not damaged. it was a little dry but ill just use a deep conditioner next time i shampoo it. yeah the smell isnt that pleasent but it washes out in about 2 shampoos. i didnt use the third bottle because of what other people had said. so all in all this product was a lifesaver!!!! it worked better then i could have imagined. totally worth the 50 bucks!!!!!

This stuff is unbelieveable. i decided to color my medium blonde(colored) hair a brown color. So i used a semipermanent medium brown shade. It was really dark, almost black and looked horrible. I have used this in the past and it has always worked really well for me. SO i had to order it(No Sally's in Montana, bummer!!!)to fix this hair color mess. Once i received it i immediatley started the slight color correction process. I was not sure if should use the sampoo, but i went ahead and added a little bit to 1 oz of each of bottles 1 & 2. ( that was plenty, my hair is a little below the shoulder) I threw out the processing lotion, after reading the reviews here. It says it only removes permanent hair color, that is so not true. It removed all of that nasty dark color. I only had it in my hair for 5 minutes and noticed it getting lighter. so i watched it for about 2-3 more minutes and it lightened alot, so i thought. So i hurried and rinsed it out. NOt as light as i wanted, so i did the process again, for about 10 minutes. Perfection!!! It turned out a medium to dark strawberry blonde color and i love it!!! (May add highlights!!) I do not need to recolor. I would recommend this to anyone who is not happy with dark permanent OR SEMI-PERMANENT hair color in their hair!!!! It is a life and confidence saver......

I purchased this product at Sally (2 boxes) after reading all of the reviews on here and finding myself hopeful. I have naturally dark brown hair but started to go grey at the age of 20 and for some reason started dying my hair "soft black" years ago. After having black hair for 4 years, I decided I wanted to go back to brown. I would like to mention that each time I re-dye my hair, I only dye the roots...not all of my hair. Anyway, I tried this product by using the entire first box and left it in for over a half hour. After I shampooed....the roots of my hair (about 2-3 inches were orange and grey....and the rest of my hair was just as black as it had been. So....thinking maybe the rest just needed another treatment, I used the entire second box again....left it in the black part of my hair for over an hour.....and it was still black.
I believe this product would work for anything other than black dye. It did work for some people that posted reviews on here with black dye....but don't get your hopes up too much, because it didn't work for me! I've decide to just start dying my roots dark brown and letting the black grow out, which will probably take years but it doesn't look 2 toned since they are so close so that's the route I'm going to take to get rid of the black. Just wanted to share! Good luck.
FOR FULL COLOR CORRECTION, Colorfix saves the day

Wow! I did read and re-read the reviews on this site before picking up one box of Colorfix, a protein pack, some Clairol Radiance colorgloss and infuser yesterday at Sally's. Sally's is usually a dangerous place and how I got into this mess to begin with! However, Sally's can also save you lots of money- this whole process cost me about $20, since I already had the gloves and cap and bottle. Thanks to the reviews here, I learned what/what not to do with Colorfix. I have a natural level 3-4 brown hair with 10-25% gray (I don't know for sure since I've been coloring for a while). I had tried to lighten with a level 5 light brown permanent color, over months of demi-permament browns. It turned orangey. Then, I piled on demi-permanent natural brown, which of course made it orangy-reddish brown. I figured, since it was getting reddish already, why not just go for a medium reddish brown? So I put on a level 3 auburn (base RED) PERMANENT (what was I thinking? you just panic sometimes!) and it just looked like hell. Too dark, totally unnatural, and of course lighter near the roots. The ends of my hair are really porous and take up color quickly and darkly. So. I prayed. I read. I prayed. And I did the full color correction as I read in the box of Colorfix. IF YOU ARE DOING A FULL COLOR CORRECTION-Please take my advice- get good coloring gloves from the beauty supply, one or two plastic caps for conditioning, an applicator bottle or bowl and brush, a good protein conditioner, and make sure you have at least 2 and a half hours for the whole process- you can't rush this. I applied it heavily, having mixed in an applicator bottle, 2 oz of each, (shake up the mixture REALLY WELL) to the ENDS FIRST. I put on a plastic cap and waited 20 minutes, applying heat with a blow dryer from time to time. I took off the cap- the ends were orangey but much lighter, sort of a dull orange. I then shook up the mixture again and applied to the roots. I then put on the cap, applied some heat, and waited another 20 minutes. I then took off the cap, used a wide-tooth comb to comb all through my hair, and waited a few more minutes. Of course my roots were much lighter than the ends of my hair- they lifted almost to yellow, while the mid-to-ends remained a sort of apricot color. Okay. I should have left the mix in the ends longer, and the roots for maybe 10 minutes. Live and learn! I rinsed out thoroughly with warm water, 5 minutes. I then rinsed my hair with lemon juice, hoping it would remove some of the smell of the product (yes, it's pretty nasty, but worth it), washed twice with clarifying shampoo, and then applied the protein pack for 10 minutes. I rinsed out, towel-dried, shuddered-it was so ugly, yellowy orange!- and then blow dried gently for a few minutes. Whew! Then, I mixed up my corrective color- Clairol Radiance Colorgloss in Dark Ash Blonde, a level 6A-it's 2 oz color to 2 oz infuser, and applied to the roots of my hair FIRST and waited 4 minutes, then pulled the rest of the color through to the ends and waited 2 minutes. It darkened RAPIDLY, as expected. The trick is not to leave the corrective color on too long-it "takes" almost immediately. I panicked- it looked so dark! I rinsed out, shampooed again, and applied Pantene Time Renewal Mask (it works great on my damaged hair, better than more expensive salon products) for a few minutes. I am now proudly sporting a beautiful head of medium golden brown, not brassy hair. I think the smell of the product does remain, as I can still smell it- but it's totally worth the smell, the price, and the time it takes to really restore your hair to a natural-looking color. The roots of my hair are still a little lighter, but perceptible only to me. I will wait a couple of days and then retouch the roots only with a Radiance Colorgloss level 8 or 10 ash blonde, leaving on only for 5 minutes. I am so pleased with the results that I cannot recommend this product-used exactly as recommended, and NOT USING THE PROCESSING LOTION unless you are not going to re-color to correct afterward. I also highly recommend the use of the Radiance Colorgloss because it leaves my hair shiny and manageable, and does not lift. I do not recommend that you use anything that will lift your hair i.e., a permanent color that you get in the drugstore. The demi-permanent seems to deposit enough. Keep in mind also that you will need to pick a much lighter color than you think for your corrective re-color, and I picked an ash because the Colorfix left my hair very orange. Thanks for all the other reviewers out there who helped me through the process! This saved me about a hundred dollars, made me feel more attractive, and didn't kill my hair like a salon strip job has in the past. I feel more in control of my hair destiny! Great product. I know this is a long review but I really felt I owed it to all the other ladies out there who might need the advice.

My natural hair color is dark brown. I dyed my hair Black with Bigen. I wanted to get my hair to a dark or medium blonde so I bought palest ash blond by wella, so that I can get the color I wanted. When I rinsed the dye out, my roots were orangy and my ends were pitch black. I started researching because there was no way I was going to bleach my hair, which was what they were telling me in the salons. I found these great reviews on colorfix and decided to give it a try. I did it and it did take the color out. My hair was redish brown. However, It darkened by the end of the day. It didnt go back to black but it looked dark auburn. My roots were still orangy red and I just had several colors in my hair. This product isnt bad. It did what it said it did, and that was removing the color.

I colored the under side of my blonde hair jet black a little over a year ago. I kept saying that I wanted my old hair back, but would over and over again get impatient. So, out of boredom and haste I would color it again. This last time I thought I would go with a copper color. YUCK! I hated it!! I read and read and read about ColorFix, so very scared to to it myself....it was nothing. I followed the directions, with the exception of keeping it on for an hour rather than 20 minutes (THIS WAS A DECISION MADE AFTER MY STRAND TEST). I am so relieved and HAPPY at the same time. It DID NOT restore my original blonde (I was not expecting it to), but it DID take all that nasty color out. It's now a light ash like brown, which is the color I bought just in case I would have to apply another color!!! SWEET!!!
