I had gradually dyed my hair darker & darker, eventually leading to it being black. Now that Spring is coming, I wanted to lighten the look up. I used One 'n Only Colorfix and it lifted the black out. I had purchased 2 boxes and had to use both of them to really lift it out but I also have very long hair. I didn't apply corrective color to my hair because I liked the Auburn color that it left. My hair was not damaged or left dry, it had a nice shine to it. I recommend this product to anyone that wants to lift the darkness out. Oh, and yes, it does stink but it goes away.

Color Fix is a great product. It lightens your previous dyed hair without the harshness of bleach! Please note it will not take your hair back to it's previous color, but only removes the dye. My natural color is dark brown and I was dying it dark brown to cover the gray. I wanted to go lighter, but didn't want the harshness of bleach to get it there. Once I used Color Fix my dyed hair was brought to a meduium golden blond until I applied the 3rd part of the 3 part process, when my hair ended up a light brown. It did not affect my uncolored roots at all. I was able to dye my hair to a lighter color. My hair was a bit dry feeling, but the damage was much less than bleach, (which makes my hair like cotton candy). After a few treatments of intense moisture conditioning my hair was back to it's shiney smooth self. I still give my hair an intense moisture treatment at the very least, once a week. I plan to go even lighter and plan to use Color Fix to get there. I do recommend this product!

This product is amazing, I've been dying my naturally dark brown hair jet jet black for the past three years. I decided to go back down to my natural colour so I picked up Colorfix from Sally's. I read reviews first so I didn';t bother using the processing lotion. It turned my jet black hair a caramelish brown. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the product label is misleading, it is not at all odorless, it stinks like horrible rotten egg. It took me five shampoos to get it out, it stunk something awful, other than it was great.

this stuff is awesome!! its like god himself sent it and made it!!! ive been coloring my hair for about 3 years. First it was a alburn color called Mocha. Then i got tired of it fading and decided i wanted it darker. When i dyed it it was BLACK. The color was supposed to be dark brown level 4. it was pitch black. I was like oh well there isnt anything i can do about it. so i kept it like this for about 2 years. Then i decided i want it lighter for my junior prom. i started looking around online and found this stuff and it was amazing! Everyone on here was complaing about the smell it really wasnt that bad! i left it on for about 20 mins and it took me to a light brown about a level 6. i didnt use the procesing lotion cause of everyone said it would darken. This product didnt damage my hair at all that i can see. and if it did its not noticable!
Great!!

Wow!! Yes this stuff really works. Heres my stats:
Long, thick, dark brown hair that had gone almost black due to color buildup.
I used the "Shampoo" method using equal parts, #1, #2 and shampoo. I think that directions should definetely say " Apply to roots for the last 3 to 4 minutes. That was my only problem. Roots lifted about 2 times more than shaft of long hair. I will now apply to all but roots to try and even out the lift ( which is fantastic) I agree with others, hair didnt feel damaged and had nice shine, and thank god Dark, dark dull color was lifted in less than 15 minutes. Buy 2 packages and use the first aplication only about 8 to 10 minutes until you know more about it. I am very happy with product.

I have hip length hair and it took out as much as could be expected of such a product. However, if others do have long hair, be prepared for the base colour to remain in the longer lengths of the hair. For me it was orange, I have gone over it with a semi permanent brown and now it's fine until I can get it all sorted at the colourists.
Maybe buy two boxes for long hair, if you can be bothered.

I read about ColorFix on this website and read every review that was written about it. After getting up the courage and talking my hair dresser into applying it for me, we went ahead and started the process. I have been dying my medium-brown locks pitch black for about 3 years. I am finally over my elvira stage and wanted a change, however every hairdresser was telling me it would be a a year long process to get the black out! Well I went snooping around on the internet and found this product...a true miracle! We applied the solution to my hair yesterday and I sat under the dryer for about 20min. My hair is now a gorgeous shade of auburn brown and hopefully after the next application it will be the light brown I am desiring. Either way this product is a miracle worker, both me & my stylist were truely amazed. My hair feels soft & shiny to boot! (the only down-side is that my fiance hates the smell!)

i have been dyeing my hair for about 5 years now && have completely forgotten what my natural hair color is. most recently, i had dyed by hair a light auburn and because of the dye damage in my hair, it didn't take. i went looking for some kind of remedy to cure my hair color issues so i could start over. my aunt who is a certified professional told me i would either have to strip the color or have a process called "repigmentation" done...i wasn't sure of either process, and they both sounded like a nightmare for the condition of my hair. i found this site with all of these wonderful reviews on this product and convinced my mom to let me try it this once. when i first used the colorfix product in my hair, i noticed a slight change in just a few minutes. i rinsed it out after about 20 minutes and since the end result wasn't quite where i wanted it, i put in another round (only using 1 oz of each solution both times for medium-long lenth hair) and left it in for somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour. i was beyond amazed!! the color was a light strawberry blonde and was perfectly ready for a new color treatment. yes, the colorfix tangled my hair a bit and left it slightly dry, but with conditioner, i was able to bring it to a condition 100% better than it was before i even started the process. i decided not to color until the next day, just to give my hair a small break. when i woke up the next morning, my hair was an even more beautiful strawberry blonde. since, i don't look great with light red hair, i went ahead and dyed it the next morning, leaving me with a BEAUTIFUL auburn color hair and i am thoroughly pleased. my hair is hydrated and extremely soft, which is hard for me to get with color in my hair. if i ever need another color fix, i will definitely turn to the One 'n Only Colorfix!!!

This product is awful!!! I followed the directions to the letter, and ended up with BLEACHED hair!! I went from light brown hair with blond highlights, to bleached hair with orange highlights!
I have already spent $300.00 trying to fix the problem and have at least two more visits to go before I'm done.
Didn't work that well...

I didn't care for the product. I rinsed for quite a while to make sure the dye came out. It looked like it did and then I dyed my hair brown. It turn black again. So I bought Color Zap and it did so much better! My hair was hardly damaged, just dry. So now I have a pretty medium brown. I guess it depends on prefences and how damaged your hair is.
It saved me.

For some reason I thought that if I wanted to get my already dark brown hair even darker, that using a color called "bright black" would be a good idea. WRONG when all was said and done I looked like a burnt match and I cried for 12 straight hours.
Once I pulled myself together, I dedicated an entire day to looking into every option possible. I knew I really did not want to do anything involving bleach, or anything involving a ton of money. Hours later I discoverd all of these poitive reviews for Color fix. I bought it and did the mixing with shampoo method. The first time did not pull much of the black out so I did it again, and left it in for about 20 mins. My roots were a bit brassy but to my utter disbelief what I was left with was the color of my dreams. It was a glossy deep brown, I was thirlled.
I expect the brassiness to tone down in the next few days and I have sure learned my lesson the hard way, leave hair color to the Pros.
this was too easy!

ok I'm a hair dye fanatic. I dye my hair at least 2x a month. Recently for some reason unknown to me I wanted to dye my hair a red. The box, and this is my favorite part, said natural auburn brown. How that translated into fire engine red I have no clue but it did. I know my hair is really porus because I'm always dyeing it. So, seeing how horrible it looked I went to Walgreens and bought a dark brown because I figured that would cover it. I ended up with black hair with a purple tint. Everyone loved it, but I felt all goth. I'm a 25year old mom of 3 and I felt so out of place even taking my kids to the store. They didn't even look like they belonged to me because they are so fair with the 2 boys being blonde and my daughter is a redhead. I'm a fair person to begin with, I always have to have the lightest shade of foundation and half the time it's too dark, so if you can just imagine how horrible and dark it looked. I got fed up and went to Sally Beauty Supply and was looking to buy some bleach. I saw One N Only colorfix and was skeptical because I've been dyeing my hair for a long time and have yet to find something that would pull color out without bleaching it. I ended up buying 2 boxes, I bought some blonde dye, and a huge tub of bleach, toner, clear coat dye, and lots more. I wanted a back up just in case this stuff didn't work. I didn't have a lot of faith. I came home and got so excited when I looked it up on this site and found all the great reviews. I went and tried it and within 5 minutes all the black was gone. I had to do the full strength application twice because I didn't quite get the back the first time. I did not use step 3. The first time I washed the stuff out I conditioned my hair which oddly enough darkened it up some. Put another box on my head and all is good. Now I am a light strawberry blonde and the color is so gorgeous I don't want to cover it at all. I am absolutely amazed at how easy this was and how great it worked. My hair feels great, almost better than it did before I did it. I think this is a miracle. They should sell this in all stores. The only thing that bothered me is on the outside of the box it said that there was no odor. False advertising. This stuff stinks like a sulpher fart. Yes it is not as bad as a perm, but it stinks horridly. But minus that fact this stuff is wonderful! I would ,and I am,recommending it to everyone who wants to get that color out of their hair. What do you have to lose?

Long story short I dyed me hair way too dark for my skin tone, and after trying evvery home remdy in the book I was about to give up. I tried it all; developer and shampoo, Prell, dish soap, baking soda, protein packs, nothing would fade this color. It was Clairol Ultress 2NR if anyone cares. So, I broke down and got some Colorfix. After reading the reviews here I hoped it would work. And it did. I ony left the product on for 20 min. and used heat the last 5 min, but it still took out the dark dye. I was left with a color about a levle 5-6, or a light brown. The top of my hair is a little brassy, but nothing too bad. I am not even sure if I will redye over this.

My last coloring job turned my hair completely coal black. It was horrendous.I read all the reviews first then went to Sally's. I did the 'slight color correction' (didn't use processing lotion). Let me tell you, if you follow the directions, it works better than I could have imagined. I am very happy with the results and will keep it in my closet for future corrections!!!!!

I wanted to thank everyone on here for there advice. I have been using all kinds of products (permanent, semi-permanent, temporary) by different manufactures to dying my hair jet black for years. I decided that I wanted to go back to my natural brown for the New Year, but didn't know how to go about it. My 1st try was an attempt I made last week to use L’Oreal color lift for dark hair. I tried to lift my hair using their Light Auburn formula. The roots of my hair turned a dark orange brown and the rest remained jet black. After search the net I came across this site and brought the colorfix. I’m African American and have very think hair, so I didn't know what to expect, but it worked great. It didn't do much to correct the orange roots, but the rest of my hair is now a great light brown. It even made some very subtle highlights which makes the color look even more natural. As for the roots I used a light brown temporary rinks and I’m every happy about the whole process. Also, I didn't use the last step thank to advice from prior post.

If you didn't believe before, you'll believe after you try it. I have colored my hair (permanent, semi-permanent AND highlights) for years and years. Most recently I was dark brown with auburn/gold highlights and I decided to put a semi-permanent color (Clairol Natural Instincts - Cinnaberry) on to enhance the auburn color. (I had done it in the past and it turned out perfect, but not this time.) The result was the most brightest shade of red (burgundy family) as you could get and I hated it. So...I went on-line and read the reviews on Color Fixx and realized that just about all of them were positive, so I bought the product
I followed the instructions exactly - except that I skipped the processing lotion (final step) because of the reviews on the negative effects on the hair. After applying the product I covered my hair with a plastic cap and used a warm blow dryer for 20 minutes - checking my progress along the way. When I rinsed my hair, every bit of the hideous color was gone and I was left with the lightest color I had previously been, which was a medium caramel color. It was actually a great color and my hair was in AWESOME condition...Hallelujah! I shampooed with Prell, put a deep conditioner on it, and didn't touch it until later that night. The next day I decided to put another semi-permanent color on it (since all my grays were back...lol) and it looks better than it has in a very long time.
I HIGHLY recommend this product and will continue to use it - God forbid - on any color mishaps in the future. I have already recommended it to friends and will continue to do so in the future.
THANKS COLOR FIXX!!!

First I must state that I am African American w/ relaxed hair. My natural hair is a dark (almost dirty looking brown). I decided to dye it black as possible in July 05. I now want to change it since I'm losing some weight, just felt like it was time for a new look. I used the product and left it on for 45 mins. I have decent length hair, just touches my shoulders and I was very pleased. I only did one application and will do a couple more times to get the ends to lighten. The only thing that i don't like is the smell. It's doesn't have any harsh chemicals but really smells chemical-like.

I am extremely happy with this product. I used it to lighten my hair after I used very black for a hair color. I used the product exactly it suggested to and I was estatic when I saw the results. You really do need to check you hair every 3 mins once the product is on to make sure you don't get to light.

This product is FANTASTIC! By far, one of the gentlest color removers out there. I have pale blonde blonde hair (bleached) and let a colourist talk me into lowlights and brown colour on my hair~ I HATED IT! Bought Color Fix and did the color correction with shampoo and after 15 minutes, my hair was back to the blonde. A few pointers to remember~ 1. Color Fix will only take out certain dyes~ not all dyes can be removed. 2. Color Fix will disolve dyes/hair colour only and will lighten your hair to the lightest pigment that you had it at (through previous bleachings, colours with lift, etc). That is why most people need to tone or re-colour afterwards. 3. If your hair goes dark again after using the Step 3 or a few days later~ it is because you needed to use a second application of Color Fix. Step 3 is peroxide and the reason it is there is because many people don't get all the dye out of their hair in the first application and once hair has been exposed to oxygen for a few days, it will darken again if there is any dye left in the hair. The step 3 is a light peroxide which will speed up the process of seeing if there is any dye left in your hair so that you know whether to do another application. Don't think taht the product is defective if your hair darkens~ it just means that there was some dye left in your hair and darkened once exposed to peroxide/oxygen.

So... I've been dying my hair black for a long time now. A couple years actually. And I want a change so I bought this stuff.
The first time I applied the stuff, it was kind of a 'test run' deal.. It worked sort of.
So I did it two more times and now my hair is a lovely brown color.
I bought the stuff at Sally's Beauty Store or whatever it's called for about $14.
My hair afterwards was dry so I got some deep conditioner stuff made by Pantene and now it's fine.
It just smells very much like a hair salon, which gets annoying after a while.
Anyway, I definitely recommend using this product.
