I also try and get my hair like that, but it eventually flattens out and the spikes dont stay. what am I doing wrong? I wash and then dry with a towel and then apply the styling glue. I have thick hair and some of it starts to curl which is hard to control. any tips? Question posted by Glaeson Sat Dec 03 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Rendell

I tried a really long time to get my hair like Carmine Gotti but couldnt. I did get a tape-up hair cut and that helped. My tips would be: 1.)wash you hair and BLOW DRY it all UP 2.)take more gel than you think you need, not a hole lot more though 3.)apply the gelpushing your hair up and pull it out
In my opinion, shorter hair spikes better but dont get it cut too short to where it wont spike at all. It took me a long time to finally make this my routine on styling my hair like the Gottis. I did this and still do and my hair looks a lot like theirs. Try this advice and hopefully it will work for you too. Good Luck. | | Reply by David

You guys know what i use? i use ice, but not the ice spiker glue, i use the ice reactor, and it works so much better, it holds my hair straight up in the air, and i use a pick comb to make my hair like that of johns. i also have a taper fade, and since my hair was a bit curly (wavey) i also straightend my hair out so it would spike up straight. | | Reply by Champ

Alright people. A lot of guys have different methods for getting there hair to look like the Gotti's. If you're the type of guy who has Straight Hair and it's thick - read this. I've had the Gotti Cut for 2 years now.
1. People are saying go to a Urban Haircutting area where they know the slang Tape Up, Blow Out and all that. It doesn't really matter. Just go to a barber in the city and ask to get your sides and back low cut - It's up to you if you want a fade or not ( I'd prefer getting the fade though. ) but make sure your hair is long and cut even, i'd say about 1 and a half to 2 inches all over.
2. After the cut, get your barber to have your hair curled. Don't be shook - guys do it alot now. BUT make sure when you get your hair curled, make your stylist know that you don't want it to the point your curly fried. Just a simple wave, where the ends of your hair curl outwards, and the length is wavy.
3. When thats all done, it's up to you if you want that chin stramp and hair color.
At Home! -
1. Towel dry your hair, but leave it somewhat damp. Grab extra-hold volumizing mouse and apply it. Since you have those natural curls now, you don't have to work about using a comb, just work it through with your fingers - Same time make sure your blowing it up in an angle AS IF you were styling it the Gotti way with just your regular hairglue.
2. When your done blowdrying and having applied the mouse, your hair should almost look like a Fro - or somthing close to it. When your done, I insist you use got2b Glued or Ice Spiker gel. Style it.
3. At first you'll notice that the spikes are curling in, let it dry for a few seconds and just touch it up with a small amount once more to get it straight.
- A lot of the guys who get the Gotti Cut think there hair are fully spiked. Actually, its only the front, side and back that are spiked straight - ( the back, especialyl Carmine is sometimes left curly ). The top, the portion people can't see in the pictures and videos are actually waves/curls that are gelled.
* If you want that extra shine, get a simple hair spray that has that 'added sleek or shine' word to it and spray it about a 1 ft away. Spray it to close, the gel will sag and get chunky. Spray it evenly in circular motions. It wont look shiny applying it, so let it dry and dont worry.
- Approx time to set hair - 30 minutes. | how to get my hair like the gottis

Ai Yo What up. This your boy Champ. Anyways, I found another way to get your hair like the Gotti Boys. I did a lot of experimenting but to get the best results for under 10 of hair products read this. Especially if your a man with thick, straight hair. This is some thing for you.
What you need -
Got 2B Glued.
Salon Selectives Under Firm Control Scultping Gel.
1nch Circular Brushs' most of you girls use to curl there
hair instead of using the curling iron.
A strong blow dryer to dry hair fast.
Aight..you guys got that? Here's what do boys.
1. Dry your hair as much as you can with your towel once.
2. Apply Salon Selectives Scultping Gel, evenly through the hair. Don't apply alot, and don't apply less. Just make sure you know you have it all covered and it's not thick and disgusting chunky.
3. Grab your Circular Brush! Now. This might sound weird, but it will cut styling time fast. Grab your Blow Dryer with the other hand.
4. With the blow dryer on, slowly brush your hair in an upward rotating motion with the Blow Dryer following right behind it ; first start off with the hair on the sides, make sure that the brush catches the hair and you rotate as your going up so when the hair is finally dry - it looks like the hair is curling in an upwards motion. Do that with the sides, the back then the front. If you're good with handling the brush and dryer the same time. Try curling the top of your head like you would with the sides. Do this until all the hair is dry. In the end, it should look like your hair is somthing of a figure of a 'Blow Up'. This should only take you about 5 minutes.
5. If you see any drooping on the top of the head and you feel that some of the hair is not up in the back. Bend down and use your blow dryer and blow it back up in an upwards motion - don't worry the gel will hold the curl you created.
6. Afterwards, let the hair cool down for a minute or two so that the gel you heat/dried/style will harden a bit. You won't feel the difference though.
The Carmine Gotti Blow Up after Step 6.
1. With a small amount onto your palm, lightly sculpt the blow up look through out your hair. It'd be best if you started with the top, then the front, sides and back. Remember it's just a small amount because this is the base that will hold the structure.
2. With a bigger amount onto your palm - this is where you do the fix ups. Here you can make the spikes on the sides, front and back thick and individual. The remainder you can place on the top, but you have to make sure there isn't alot of white showing. In time the white will fade away if it's not thick and chunky.
The John Gotti Blow Up after Step 6
1. Start off like you would with the Carmine Gotti as the base.
2. Add a bigger amount onto your palm, then you did on step one. Begin but spreading the glue on the side and front. Create the thick, induvidual spikes.
3. Add a small amount then you would on step 2. Make sure you rub the Glue only onto your fingers and not your palms! Firmly..but not hard, press the glue from the base of your hair in the front and push against it in an upwards motion. Which should create the long straight spike but will lightly curve at the end.
Voila!
The Added Shine!
Now..all these guys are saying to by these hair sprays. The Hair Sprays is just to give it that shine. You don't need it to add extra hold. But please..if you don't know how properly use Hair Spray Read This. Especially if you dont want your Gotti Style getting, chunky, droopy and saggy.
1. Grab Hair Spray. Any Brand as long as it says Shine or Extra Shine.
2. Hold that Hair Spray a good FOOT and FOOT AND A HALF away from your hair. Now in ONE motion spray your hair in a circle covering the side, front, back then the top.
The only reason why i'm telling you to hold it far away, is so that your hair wont sag fromt he moist product that Spray lets out..and it own't chunk and show those ugly white speckles.
BUT IF THE WHITE SPECKLES SHOW!
- Put your hands under water. Shaking most of it off..DO NOT DRY. Now with your damp hand, gently just rub the water against the gel following the upward motion. You can apply a bit of pressure. | Same Idea

i've been having the brook cut for about a year now, and i started by using crapy gel, this is a good gel, but try to use ice spike styling glue it works a lot better than this one does, blow dry ur hair right aftrr you get out of the shower try to blow the air up, if by the end your hair looks puffy or somehow like a fro... you are in the right direction, put some gel on your fingers about 2 tsps and spike it up start from the back and work your way up to the front, thats what i do, you are gonna have to apply more gel by the way, also use a comb if your hair looks too messed up.
when you get a haircut try to go a hip hop barbershop, or a guido, they ussually kknow what they are doing, avoid salons for chicks or old men barbershops... even if they tell you they know what they are doing, theyll find a way to mess your hair up, ask for a brook cut, brooklyn, tape up, blow out or just tell them u wanna look like the gottis.

Wash your hair in the shower, towel dry it and put some gel in mix it around in the hair blowdry it up, add more gel and fix the spikes, its really simple if u have alot of trouble try using a comb when u do the initial blowdrying it up. that should help...if u need pics of what it looks like etc. let me know i have had a blowout for like 2 yrs, the best blowout in my area... | | Reply by Tim

First change the glue to Ice Spiker it works alot better its only couple of dollars more and your hair has to be pretty long. You have to get the right cut for it to look perfect. Get the sides tapered make sure u go to a black barber to do that. | | Reply by Joey

yo i strongly recomend softee protein gel extra hold and apro pro styl extra hold. these hair gel products are very great and realiable! i remember like last year a had like a number 4 buzz cut and i could literaly slick and spike my hair back with them two gels!!!! they sell them at walmart target walgreens and a lot of other stores and online!!! you can get a 32 ounce jar or jug or what ever you call it for like $3.99 and less and that's like a big container of gel! softee gel and ampro pro styl gel are the two very best kind of gels i ever tried ( and trust me i tried a lottttttttt)they are usually for white and spanish people with temples tape ups tapers blow out brooklyn or what ever you want to call it. but i've been cuttin hair for a while and i think it looks good from a number 8 and up but not to long to have a blow out ect. how i use gel is i put a dab of water in my hands and apply it to my hair and spike it then right after i get gel ampro or softee or what ever gel but i recomand those two and style it the way i want it then when im done i put away the gel screw or close the cap or what ever tight and wash my hands. but u still have stickyness when your done using your gel so i recomand get a towel, paper towel, tissue, or even toilet paper and dry your hands and your good to go. and since many of us have to go to skool you usually take a shower in the mournin then get out and start gellin the hair with the steps i told you. it is also good too use shampoo in the shower for a fresh smell and when you get dry and apply a lil of water in your hair when you are starting to gel your hair it will sometimes spike up better and add thickness to your hair. i have thin hair so i recomand progain shampoo. its not rogain its progain and it helps add thickness and body to your hair and its a shampoo!i cut hair and kno alot about it so trust me i know what im talkin about.
i highly garenty this will get your hair lookin like the gotti boys ( first you have to have the blow out hair cut which is even on legth all around and sometimes has a fade and a box. a box is like your hairline sometimes its round sometimes its straight )
i hope my info was helpful im glad to help anyone who get help by me!!!!!!!!
peace out your boi brian | | Reply by Colombianguido

u have to go the barber shop n get a 4 all around than u have to get a LOW blowout. The reason 4 dis is that u need to gt th esides very long. If u gt a blowout rite away da barber will cut off to muxch n ull end up lookin like sinoc the hedghog lol. So after about 2-3 months of low blowouts you are ready for a regular blow out and than you will have gooti hair. I just got mine and it works. For gel just use got2be glue or echo gell it is the best GEL PERIOD. Those are the 1 the gottis use godd uck gotti wannabes. |
