Product Rating: 5 Relief is in sight
Reviewer: Debbie Kukla from Commerce, MI  Wed Jun 22 2005

With the power level set at 2, there was minimal discomfort. So very glad to see the complete hairs slip out. Wasted over 2 years of my time with an electric tweezer type. (their statement was- "Be patient. Some hairs require more than one treatment") With the tweezer type, you had to stretch the skin. My upper lip still shows the effects of doing that, not a pretty sight. With this machine, there were a few temporary red spots. Most went away within hours, some by the next day. Added an extra reading light to my makeup mirror which greatly helps.

I like it so far, you just have to find the right settings for your type of skin.

Product Rating: 3 I dunno. . .
Reviewer: christi from california  Fri May 27 2005

It definitely is difficult to use. I tried once a couple of weeks ago (when I got it), and got it to work on 3 hairs. The directions suggest that you start with the lowest setting, but that didn't work for me & I was a bit of a chicken with turning it up (Once I turned it up too high & it hurt badly, so I was afraid to turn it up at all.), so I kept moving the needle around in the hair folicle (sounds horrible, but it's not) trying to feel the "tingle," to no avail. I've had little scabs (tiny) on the hairs I messed with that have taken 2 weeks to go away (not as bad as the ingrown hairs that I experience with waxing & shaving, though), so I might wait until AFTER bikini season to try again. I will try again, though, and i think that after I get the hang of it it will be worth it. I'm a slow learner. :)
So, don't buy it unless you're patient. I'm too cheap to get it professionally done (poor grad student), so it's worth it to me no matter how difficult.

Product Rating: 4 Professional results at home!!
Reviewer: Debbie   Fri Apr 29 2005

Great product. Does what it says it will do. I read all the reviews and instructions prior to first use, which really helped. You can tell when you have hit the hair follicle, because you will see a small amount of discharge from the follice when the tip is inserted. Good light and a magnifying mirror are definately a plus. Just be patient; like anything else that you have never tried, it takes practice. No more painful than professional electolysis, but MUCH cheaper. If you are thinking of buying this product, go for it! If you don't like it your not out a lot of money. Good Luck!

Product Rating: 2 Be careful
Reviewer: k from Canada  Mon Mar 28 2005

You can do permanent damage to your face with this product. Positive results are extremely difficult to achieve since it's hit or miss to actually contact the folicle root with this device, probably through no fault of the machine itself, just by nature of the task at hand. Sticking a tiny needle into the right pore is not easy. Applying the needle on the lowest power setting, into a pore for about 15 seconds resulted in a deep pitting scar on my face that will hopefully go away after time. It has been about two weeks already.

I've decided to save up my money and consult a professional. You probably know deep inside that you should too.

Product Rating: 4 Painless Tweezer
Reviewer: Roseann from New York  Tue Apr 20 2004

This product seems to do what is claimed. I find it far superior to creams. The pricing is economical, and it beats sitting for electrolysis, because I live in an area that is not that conveient to electrolysis salons.

Product Rating: 4 Great product, but be careful
Reviewer: Carrie Rosado from Texas  Wed Mar 23 2005

I gave this 4 out of 5 stars because it is imperative that you be very careful while using this product. The first time I used it, I had the dial set at 1, and still burned my face, which has scarred now. DO NOT insert the tip at an angle, but go straight down with it. The tip actually went just under my skin and made blisters. I did try again, though, with great results. The product works very well, after learning what I did wrong. With proper use, there is a minimum ammount of pain and no hint that anything was ever done except hairless skin. Just be sure to have a magnified mirror and really good light so that you don't have to "search" for the pore and burn the skin around it. I would recommend this product, just warn to use caution.

Product Rating: 5 Love it!
Reviewer: Sherry from Seattle  Wed Mar 23 2005

A couple of months ago I spent 100 bucks on Finally Free, and could never get the thing to work. So I went back to this dependable little one which I have used before. Only problem is that you have to have a LOT of patience because it is very slow progress, at one hair at a time. Hair cycle is such that a new and different batch of hairs show up 2 or 3 times again. But this happens with any permanent hair removal program. To get completely done took me nearly a year. (Could have been faster if I was doing it regularly) I was so embarrased about my bikini line though, that it was absolutely worth it and the results are real. I will finally wear a bikini now! THE BEST!

Product Rating: 4 Electrolysis (permanent hair removal)
Reviewer: Jackie from WI  Fri Feb 25 2005

Product is very good. If you are thinking about this for a large amount of hair removal I wouldn't recommend it. However, works wonderfully for small amounts. Just remember to read the directions...very important!

Product Rating: 4 careful with the tip!
Reviewer: anna from texas  Fri Feb 11 2005

i am pleased with this product over all but i am unhappy with the fact that one of my tips (you get two with the order) bent before i even got to use it! carful when putting together. i used this for hair on my chin....they haven't grown back so i would recomend this if your looking to remove a few hairs for good.

Product Rating: 4 I love it as much as I did before!
Reviewer: Wendy B. from Northeast  Tue Jan 25 2005

I had one of these a few years, and bought another one when wires finally broke by battery connections. I use it to remove hairs in pimples and inflamed spots, as it easily "boils out" the infection at the same time without pain or damage to tissue. Amazing product, awesome price for the help it does for me!

Product Rating: 5 update on my previous review
Reviewer: Sue   Sun Jan 09 2005

I reviewed this a few weeks ago after using it one time. I was pleased and just wanted to update my experience after using it these past few weeks. I have been using setting #6 for hairs on my chin and #3 for fine upper lip hairs. I love it. I was able to cancel my electrolysis appointment last week and won't be going back for 2 more weeks. This is perfect for extending the timeframe between visits. None of the hairs I have treated have come back and the pain is very tolerable. I do get more swelling than when its done professionally and sometimes I even get scabs. But they go away after a couple of days and I have not had any scaring. I highly recommend this product as it does what it says it will do. My advice is to follow the directions and don't treat too many hairs at one time. I tend to overdo everything and the day I did that, I was very swollen and red and it took about 4 days for it to disappear. If you are thinking about purchasing it, DO IT! If you don't like it, you have not wasted alot of money as its very inexpensive.

Product Rating: 5 very good product
Reviewer: Dave from Belgium  Wed Jan 05 2005

After a lot of hesitation I finally decided to order the product. At first I was a bit scared when I read a few reviews pointing out the pain it will cause, but.... I tested it today and I only felt a minor tingling. It was great, no pain! If I had knew this before I would have bought it a lot sooner. Don't know if the hairs will grow back but I'm very pleased for the moment

Product Rating: 3 As promised, but not easy
Reviewer: Audrey from New York  Mon Dec 13 2004

This product absolutely does what it says it will. It is difficult though. If you are desparate to remove a few hairs then I highly recommend it. It is very tedious, however, and very easy to over-do it. After my first experience it took 2 weeks for the areas I treated to heal. I would recommend using the lowest setting even for someone with coarse hair.

Product Rating: 4 take a painkiller and get to it!
Reviewer: Erin from Massachusetts  Wed Nov 10 2004

This is a pretty user-friendly, economical way to permanently remove hair. It is time consuming, but it is cheap and you can do it whenever you want, in complete privacy. Electrolysis with a probe that sends current down the hair shaft (as opposed to tweezers) is the only method proven to work, so this is it.

Advice: Prepare for the pain and local irritation. Take a painkiller beforehand, an ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory if you can tolerate them, and it also wouldn't hurt to prepare the area with a topical anesthetic. (Each electrolysis feels like a super-vicious mosquito is biting you. Not fun. The needle is not painful at all, it is the current that stings, and I had it on a setting of 2 or 3.) Then follow the package directions. Afterward, apply a light film of antibiotic ointment. You might have irritated skin (raised red bumps, similar to mosquito bites) for some time afterward, so it's probably not something you'd want to do before a night out.

This could obviously take weeks or years, depending on how large an area you want to have hair-free and how much time you have to invest in it. You have to wait for the hair cycles to make sure you have electrocuted all of them. The woman whose review said she had it for 15 years -- I don't see a problem with that. I have lots of things lying around the house which I only use from time to time.

All in all, I'd recommend this product.

Product Rating: 2 if it works then...

"For over 15 years I used the product and really it is excellent and I have recommended to all my close friends and family too"

^ i don't understand.. if this electrolysis hair removal is actually suppose to work isn't it suppose to make you hair free eventually? you've been using it for 15 years and you still have to use it?

I bought this product from a mail order catalog. It did not work for me.

It hurt me and left scars on my skin.

I see it worked for some other people. But not for me.

Thanks You

Product Rating: 5 The Best Home Electrolysis Kit Available!
Reviewer: Rachelle Raub from Yorba Linda, CA  Sat Aug 14 2004

I have a PCOS, which enables me to grow a full thick beard like a man. I was so tired of plucking, shaving, waxing every day. I bought my home electrolysis kit many years ago and really love it! Now I have also tried the tweezer, no needle kind for my problem to no avail. It does take a little getting used to the needle, however, the results are right away and well worth the time. Don't let the sound of a needle scare you, It's not bad at all. Good Luck! Stick with it, close the world out for a bit turn on some music and do something for you! The results are will worth it!
