Product Rating: 1 OVERHEATS !!!!
Reviewer: Monica from Houston,TX  Tue May 10 2005

I purchased the Hot Tools Ceramic Iron in February. I got really excited when I purchased this straightner. It worked well on my hair for the first 2 months. But by APRIL --not even 3 months after i bought it-- it overheats!!! and the purple coating on the plates STARTED CHIPPING AWAY!!! I couldn't belive my eyes. For the price that I paid, I expected it's life expectancy to be loneger. Now it gives my hair PLENTY of split ends & breaks it off.

Product Rating: 1 HATE IT!
Reviewer: Nicki   Thu Aug 07 2008

I had a really good iron (don't remember the brand. Sorry) And unfortunately it suffered a really bad fall and broke. So I got this as a quick replacement. It supposedly goes up to over 400 degrees but it does nothing. I run it through my hair like I would with a normal iron and all it does is make my hair a hot dried out mess. It doesn't straighten it at all. I am returning it as soon as possible.

I have had this curling hion for three years and had another one before that, which i allowed a friend to use and she distroyed it, but any ways i have had no problems with this product and recommend it to all my friends

Product Rating: 4 Good Temperature Settings
Reviewer: Nicole   Mon Jan 28 2008

My friend has been using this straightener for quite some time and then gave it to me. I was very happy because it really beats the straightener that I had before. I have had it for two years now and it works fine for me.I straighten my hair about everyday except for the weekends and love the fact that it has temperature settings. I only use from 4-6 and use the CHI 44 Iron Guard spray and many conditiioners/shampoos to help keep my hair healthy. It might not be as good as CHI staighteners but it works well.

Product Rating: 1 Returned it...
Reviewer: Abby from KC  Thu Jan 17 2008

It heated up wayyyy to bad like i couldnt pick up the straightener and while i did it didnt straighten my hair just split the end even with heat protectant.. bought a corioliss instead and love it... spend a little more ladies its worth it

Product Rating: 1 Does NOT work!!!
Reviewer: Mary from Jal, NM  Thu Dec 27 2007

My daughters purchased the Hot Tools Ceramic Iron a week ago as a Christmas present for me. We are extreamly disapointed as it DOES NOT HEAT UP AT ALL. What a rip off, my regular curling iron I purchased at walgreens works way better. The sad part is the salon where it was purchased highly recommended the item.

Product Rating: 2 Going to return it
Reviewer: Cam   Tue Oct 30 2007

Spent $85 on it from a local Aveda salon (who recommended it). Not any better than the ones you could buy at Walmart. I had an expensive ($135) one I left behind on vacation so I know the difference in heating and handling. Don't buy it--even spending $30 or $40 on it is still a waste of money.

Product Rating: 1 DAMAGED MY HAIR BADLY
Reviewer: Celada from Pomona, CA  Mon Oct 29 2007

I bought this (Hot Tools)Iron @ a local salon. It costed me around $54.00. I figured because of it's known name and price it had to be good. I WAS WRONG!!!!! The first couple of times I started to use it my hair was so FLAT! I continued to use it at a low temperature. Weeks went by and my hair is fried and flat ( I had to cut off like 1 1/2 inches off)!!!!!!! I'm spending more money on moisturizing treatment then it was worth. I'm really upset. I stop using it and stared using the walmart the "Remington-Wet 2 Dry" that I used prior to Hot Tools. I recommend noone to buy it. It's helping my hair look healthier....

Product Rating: 1 horrible
Reviewer: Christie   Sat Oct 13 2007

MY hair isn't very curly but it def. is not straight, after leaving my wet2straight in australia i bought this onee [cost me 70 bucks at ulta] and it SUCKS. it doesnt straighten fast, the heat isnt hot, it doesnt straight the ends of my hair and its just all around bad.
i cant tell my dad that its horrible cuz he spent 70 bucks on it...i HAVE toi get a new straightener though...

my hair is frizzy, doesnt stay straight overnight and by the end of school day its super frizzy knotty and wavy. i HATE it. DONT BUY it...

Product Rating: 5 great brand
Reviewer: anonymous   Sat Oct 06 2007

My daughter tried this brand at camp, and persuaded me that we needed to replace our flat iron with a Hot Tools flat iron. She wore me down - and she was right! This iron straightens her very thick frizzy hair - FAST! (We threw out the old flat iron!)

Product Rating: 3 love it

Product Rating: 1 Don't Waste Your Money!
Reviewer: anonymous from oklahoma  Fri Sep 14 2007

I bought this flat iron because my more expensive one broke, and I couldn't afford to buy it again. I wish I had just bought it again because it heats unevenly so it burns my hair. I only use it about once per week, and after 3 months the purple coating on the plates started chipping off. I definitely would recommend you spend more money on a better iron.

Product Rating: 2 dont last that long! :[
Reviewer: abby from washington  Thu Sep 13 2007

I got mine about a year and a half ago for xmas, and it is not heating up anymore like it use to! It makes me so mad cuz its suppose to last longer than that! and the purple chips away too. And my moms ((she got hers when she got mine)), died like 6 months ago. I wouldnt recommend this particular straightner to no one. Plus it pulls hairs sometimes. OUCH!

Product Rating: 1 A total joke
Reviewer: Audrey from Indiana  Thu Aug 30 2007

So I bought this straightener upon the recomendation of an employee at a beauty store; why did I listen? I was in an emergency because the flat iron I'd had for 4+ years finally gave out on me (it was some $40 ceramic iron I got at Sally's right when flat irons started to become popular). I only had about $60 to spend, so she told me to buy this one. I have frizzy, damaged, overprocessed hair and a flat iron is a necessary tool for me. This iron doesn't heat up to the temperature that it claims to, nor does it keep hair like mine straight for more than 10 minutes. It looks good right after I am done, but literally 15 minutes later it is wavy and frizzy again. I am so mad. I am going to take it back and get a Sedu. Because I use a flat iron everyday I think it's worth it to fork out the cash for something that will work and won't leave me angry and homicidal because of bad hair.

Product Rating: 5 Best Flat Iron Ever!!!!
Reviewer: A Customer   Sun Aug 26 2007

This flat iron is amazing. It does not pull your hair like most flat irons do and it heat up really quickly. It is by far the best I have ever tried. If you are going to get a flat iron get this one!

Product Rating: 1 Hot Tools straightener
Reviewer: Allison from California  Sun Jul 15 2007

I didn't like this particular straightener, because I have very thick hair and i had to keep going over and over my hair to get it to be straight. I do give props to folica.com because i bought it at a beauty store for about thirty bucks more.

Product Rating: 5 really good,
