I purchased the Hot Tools Ceramic Iron in February. I got really excited when I purchased this straightner. It worked well on my hair for the first 2 months. But by APRIL --not even 3 months after i bought it-- it overheats!!! and the purple coating on the plates STARTED CHIPPING AWAY!!! I couldn't belive my eyes. For the price that I paid, I expected it's life expectancy to be loneger. Now it gives my hair PLENTY of split ends & breaks it off.
its pretty okay.

I bought this straightener a couple months ago i was soo excited because i needed a new straightener. but its not as good as i thought it would be. I have like Fine hair not thin but not too thick. i have to go over my hair like 3 times for it to be some what okay. i like my hair Pin straight to. this doesnt damage hair alot i like that about it but the results of it arnt as great as i thought. so i would buy a better quality because trust me it will be worth it.

i bought this iron about 3 months ago. i am not satisfied at all. this is the second flat iron i've had. The first one was a cheap $20 conair one and honestly, the conair worked WAYYY better then this. the results do not last! i dont even have too curly hair! the ends of my hair flip up after about 10 minutes and this doesnt do a good job getting rid of frizz. all in all, this flat iron is a waste of money, invest in a better one.

Ive had this flat iron for two years and while i had it did the things i wanted it to it straightend my hair pretty good and i even used it to curl my hair although the curls only lasted a few hours i was satified. I started to become unsatified when my iron started rusting and smelling a bit after 1 and 1/2 years then about after two years i noticed my hair was not straightening well so i felt the plates and the bottom one was not hot at all like the top one so i could no longer use it :-( but while it worked it heated up good and fast and got really hot.

I've had this flat iorn for a couple of months and I'm alreadt looking for another one. The heat doesn't stay constant and it doesn't even get that hot. It makes me wavy/curly hair a big poof ball at times.
Good for a cheap iron

I have a friend that is a hairstylist and swears by Hot Tools. She picked this up for me about a year ago. I have never been happy with it. It snags my hair, creases it, takes quite a bit of effort to get it straight (and my hair is fairly straight as it is). My daughter feels the same way about it.
A few weeks it stopped heating up. It will warm up, but it takes about 20 minutes and is not the 430 degrees that it is supposed to be. I asked my hairstylist about an iron today (not my friend stylist) and she said that Hot Tools aren't worth the money and recommends the Chi so I purchased one. Hopefully it will be much better because the Hot Tools isn't a whole lot better than the store irons.

This is the best straightener I've ever used. It gets my hair straight and shiny. Great for short hair. Truly the best iron for my hair that I've found. I've been doing my own hair for several years, and this is a great iron for not too much money.
Great!!

I love it! I just bought it and when I used it it made my hair so silky and soft. I have very wavy hair and I got bored with it so I decided to go back to straightening my hair because I used to a long time ago. I think that this is the best product and it is better then the Maxiglide. I used that in the past and didn't like it. People stop complaining it is not poor.
Good Product

I've had my straighter for close to 5 years and have always had great results. I was really surprised at all the negative reviews. The only reason I'm looking for a new one is because I dropped the iron one to many times and the cover for the dial has broken off.
Great flat iron for the money. Not as quite as good as a CHI, but a whole lot cheaper!
Horrible

I had an Ion straightner before and I LOVED it. I have very crazy hair, so I have to have a good straightner for my hair to do anything. I got this as a replacement when mine died and I hate it. It doesn't stay hot, nor does it straighten my hair as well as my Ion did. I don't recommend this for anyone, horrible.
Not Good.

This flat iron does not work well. My hair looked better when I didn't own a flat iron! With my thick hair, I need the highest setting (430 degrees) and it takes 2 MINUTES to heat up! It also makes my hair frizzy and poofy, and it broke my hair and gave me split ends! I can literally hear it breaking my hair. It also snags my hair, and leaves a lot of creases. It leaves my hair straight for about 2 hours, then by the end of the school day I look in the mirror and my hair is wavy and poofy! I'm going to get a new one and I would NOT recommend this. The only good thing I can say about this is that it is very durable, I have dropped it many times and it still works. Other than that, it's not a good flat iron.

This flat iron stinks. Horrible the plates are wrapped around the edges and it's really easy to get burned. We hate it and now looking spend more money on another product, what a waste of money. Now we are shopping and looking at other peoples review to make and educated decision.
HATE IT!

I had a really good iron (don't remember the brand. Sorry) And unfortunately it suffered a really bad fall and broke. So I got this as a quick replacement. It supposedly goes up to over 400 degrees but it does nothing. I run it through my hair like I would with a normal iron and all it does is make my hair a hot dried out mess. It doesn't straighten it at all. I am returning it as soon as possible.
looking for a new brand!

My friend has been using this straightener for quite some time and then gave it to me. I was very happy because it really beats the straightener that I had before. I have had it for two years now and it works fine for me.I straighten my hair about everyday except for the weekends and love the fact that it has temperature settings. I only use from 4-6 and use the CHI 44 Iron Guard spray and many conditiioners/shampoos to help keep my hair healthy. It might not be as good as CHI staighteners but it works well.
Returned it...

My daughters purchased the Hot Tools Ceramic Iron a week ago as a Christmas present for me. We are extreamly disapointed as it DOES NOT HEAT UP AT ALL. What a rip off, my regular curling iron I purchased at walgreens works way better. The sad part is the salon where it was purchased highly recommended the item.
Going to return it

Spent $85 on it from a local Aveda salon (who recommended it). Not any better than the ones you could buy at Walmart. I had an expensive ($135) one I left behind on vacation so I know the difference in heating and handling. Don't buy it--even spending $30 or $40 on it is still a waste of money.
