After 1 year, one of the plates is not working. Bummer. I see this is an ongoing problem with this iron.

Hi, I used to have this item but I had a stylist that used a Chi, & it worked great, but I have since found an item that is a MIRACLE, & its the Smooth by Paul Mitchell, That is the BEST flat iron I have ever seen, it has adjustable temp. controls & your hair will NOT frizz after use. Anyone who think Chi is the best try this item first!

Surprise surprise one side no longer heats up......Sounds like a common problem amongst the first 2 PAGES of reviews...In Wigo's defense, it did give me 1 1/2 good years..
Only 1 side heats up now

I've had my Wigo for about 2 years now, at first it worked great, but my hair would only stay straight for a couple hours, but if it was humid outside, i shouldn't even have wasted my time trying to straighten it! I only used it on the weekends as i have to put my hair up the rest of the week. Recently i noticed it wasn't working as well, then i figured out that only one side is heating up. I recently had my hair done at a salon and they used a Chi, i have never had straighter hair or been so impressed. Thats my next buy or a Solia!
it was OK

I received this hair iron from a friend. It worked really well at first, but then it gradually got worse. On the plates, there is some sort of hair product build up that makes it hard to get through your hair. It smells bad while heating up.

My Wigo just stopped working.......right out of the blue.....like other reviewers.
I purchased it about two years ago and have used it everyday.
I was looking online to replace it, but after reading the reviews, have decided to try something else.
Don't buy!

I bought this flat iron a few weeks ago. At first, I thought it worked great, as my hair was smooth and shiny after using it, though it did take a while to use. However, right when I stepped outside, my hair got wavy again! It looked like I hadn't even straigtened it at all! And this has happened every time I've used it since then. I thought maybe it was just my hair, or the weather, but last night I needed to touch up my hair with a flat iron before I went out, since it looked terrible after being outside for 20 minutes. I was at my boyfriend's house, and didn't have my Wigo with me, so his Mom let me use her Chi. That thing is amazing! It worked SO much better and faster than my Wigo, I could not believe it. I didn't think there could be such a big difference. I was out all night, and my hair stayed completely straight after using the Chi. Now I wish I had never bought this product. I'll probably end up buying a Chi now - the Wigo is a waste of money!!
love it

I have had my WIGO for a couple of years and have just started having problems. My WIGO has been used pretty much everyday (5 days a week) since it was bought. It just recently started not staying on. It has something to do with the cord. If you wiggle the cord it will stay on and heat up. It has something to do with the cord; just before you reach the swival part of the cord. Overall, I think this product is average because it has lasted me a couple of years and has definitely earned its keep.
oh dear.

I bought this straightener about 3 years ago, and it worked fine....or it had worked better than anything i had ever gotten before, and one day it just wouldnt heat up. I just stopped working. there was no warning signs to let me know that it was going to stop. i then bought a straightener for Chi and it is amazing and i have had it for 4 years and it hasnt faltered.
DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!!

i bought this straightner a few months ago and i've been struggling with it. with your wigo,if you begin to see the red coating come off, this is a bad sign. this can really damage your hair and leave you with dry ripped out hair. also,on somedays,my wigo would heat up fine..on others it would bealiy manage.it seems like everyday i leave the house with my poofy, frizzy hair, still looking puffy and frizzy. i recomend the CHI.ChI is the greatest straightner out there(in my opinion)and does not wear you wont be returning the CHI within the next 3-4 years!
Ceramic finish wore off in 2 months.

The Wigo was recommened to me by a friend. As it is my first hair iron, I can't really compare it to another yet. I considered it an expensive purchase and thought it would last longer than a few months. While it still heats up fast and does the job of straightening my thick very curly hair, I am concerned that the bare metal where the finish flaked off is damaging my hair. I am now shopping for another brand and will not buy Wigo again.

From what I've read, I think that you take your chance buying this product, same with the "Hot Tools". I'm thinking that most are defective, and the rest work. I'm trying to find a VERY good hair straightener that will last long and be not too expensive (around $100-$200). I have pretty straight, fine, long hair, but sometimes like it pin straight. Any suggestions? Please contact me at its.your.fantasy@hotmail.com THANKS!

Well, I'm a stundent in Cosmetology and needed a cheap, but super effective flat iron for use on clients only. One week after opening and using my Wigo, one side stopped working. Luckily, I had the receipt and proof of purchase and was sent another flat iron, no questions asked. That would have been great except for the fact that the SAME THING happened with my second Wigo flat iron. DO NOT WAISTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON IT!!

I bought my Wigo about 4 months ago and use it daily. Recently, I have noticed that there is something wrong with the cord. My flat iron keeps going out and I have to struggle with the cord in order for it to stay on. When I bought this product the clerk raved about what a wonderful flat iron is was. For the price, it definitely is not worth the money - my Hot Tools lasted longer than this!

Bought the thing in Nov '05. It's now the beginnning of March '06. Used it twice a week. That's 36 times. Used this product *36* times in 3 & 1/2 months. Have discovered this morning that one side is not heating, explaining quite a bit. Called the place where I bought it: no, I don't have the receipt & no, I don't have the warranty card. God forbid they'd want to have a happy customer and work with me - they're the one carrying a product that apparantly, according to this web site, has quite the problems, one side breaking just being one. No web site for Wigo, paying for your own return? And what the heck is this about "lead" on the cord & washing your hands. Unbelieveable. Buy at your own risk to your pocket book and to your physical health.
Good
