You get what you pay for....

I had a Conair straightener as my first flat iron, and I hated it. After a while I asked my mom to buy me a new one. She bought me the Wigo, since she said paying $100.00 for a straightener was just rediculous. I straighten my hair every day, and I have not been impressed. Here are the problems...
-takes forever to heat up
-smells as it's heating up
-leaves creases in your hair
-hair goes back to wavy after an hour
-ceramic coating wares off
-takes me 40 minutes to straighten my hair
-snags hair on the sides of the plates
I didn't know anything about straighteners before, and after 3 years of putting up with mediocre results, I've decided to buy the $100.00 professional straightener. In retrospect, it would have made more sense to not have wasted my money on the crappy flat irons but investing in something that does a quality job. And, a flat iron truely is an investment. So... if you want a piece of junk that'll give you poor results, buy this iron. If you want good results, invest in a FHI or Chi. It's worth it.

I had this one for years. It made my hair sooo straight and soft I loved it. My sister needed an iron and I gave her mine thinking I would get one just as good at the drug store. None I have tried are the same and now I must go back to the salon where I got the first one.

i admit , wigo isn't the best. but its not as bag as everyone's making it seem.
i had mine for 4 years and it just broke.
i have fine , wavy hair , and the wigo worked excellent.
iv had friends with thicker hair use it , and they still have some problems , but it still works pretty well.
i recommend this if your not willing to spend big bucks on something else.

I bought this for my daughter (age 14). She only uses it maybe once weekly and one day of the week end. We have had it since May 2008. One of the ceramic plates will not heat up. For the money and the reputation (I had heard it was great!), it did not impress me. Now I am beginning to hear otherwise. Wish I would have known that when I was deciding on which manufacturer to choose. i would not choose this product or this brand again. :(
this is a good flat iron not bad

my hair is horribly curly and it straightens it with two strokes to each section of hair. I don't understand all of the negative comments. It IS worth the money and you should try it. Its way better than the CHI thats so hot on the market.
wow i really hate it...

I just bought this iron because it was on sale from 100 to 30 bucks...weird huh?? Well it works just about as "good" as a cheap flat iron I could have gotten at a drugstore. Don't buy this! P.S I'm returning it ASAP

This was my first flat iron that I bought, so I had nothing to compare it to. I have thick curly hair and it would take about 40 minutes to straighten and then my hair would be wavy and frizzy within a few hours. It did last me for about 4 years until it just died. I ended up purchasing the Sedu 1 1/2" to replace this flat iron and I absolutely love it! I recommend not getting the Wigo but instead to check out the Sedu.

I used this straightener for almost 2 years and the only reason I stopped using it was because I got a Chi. I have super curly hair and granted, it took a while, but it made my hair straight and look good. I got this straightener for $80 at Ulta and I have no regrets. Its not as good as a Chi but close enough.
great for thin hair with natural wave

I borrowed this flat iron from my friend and it works great with my hair. I have a lot of thin hair with a natural wave to it. This wigo heats up very fast, and on the hottest setting, takes me about 10-15 minutes to quickly straighten my hair. I think all the negative comments are from people with very thick, curly hair - so keep that in mind!
i dont understand all the negative comments...

i've had my wigo for a couple months now, i upgraded from my Conair "ceramic" straightener that didn't work with ANYTHING, so i noticed the difference when using the wigo. my hair is naturally hard to do ANYTHING with, very stubborn and a good deal of damage from constant dying and straightening (those ceramic plates help, but they're no miracle!). you can't always blame the straightener, you're hair might just be harder to straighten. it takes me 20 minutes to do mine and i have shoulder length hair, and it's thick and wavy. if you have a problem with humidity frizzing your hair, buy a serum that will coat your hair and protect it from it. in the end, you really can't fight it, your hair will just do what it wants to anyways.
the wigo may not be the best straightener, but it's good for the price.
Real bad !

if you want something good and spend money, add maybe $30 and get something that will actually be great.. instead of this that you will want to replace within a few months.
not the best, but alright

I bought a wigo straightner because I didn't want to spend the money on a chi and the salesperson said the wigo was the next best thing. Well, it not only pulls my hair out when I use it, it doesn't close all the way so it doesn't straighten my hair. My advice, buy a chi, my roomate has one and they're definitly worth the money. The wigo, not so much.
Not worth the money!!

My daughter and I both have thick, wavy defiant hair. We have used a few cheap Walmart flat irons that didn't work that well. Our stylist uses a CHI which works great so my daughter wanted one. I chose to try the WIGO instead even though the reviews were bad thinking the price was between the cheap irons and the CHI so how bad could it be. Well the saying you get what pay for really applies here! I read the reviews for all the flat irons and for the price the FHI was the best. I returned the WIGO and bought the FHI. The WIGO did OK compared to the cheap Walmart varieties but if you are looking for a good professional iron that leaves your hair straight & silky the WIGO is not the one. Buy the FHI like I did.....you won't regret it!
ICK!

I bought this straightener and after about 2 months the straightner plates were burned around the edges and it continually ripped out strands of hair. By the end of straightening my hair there were strands stuck in the plates and my hair smelled and looked fried. : (
An Absolutely Horrid Iron

I have thick hair that is pretty wavy. I got this iron for my last birthday. Big mistake. It would take me 2 hours to get my hair straight and then when I finished and stepped outside it would look horrible even in non-humid weather. On a section that was really wavy it would take literally 5 minutes to get it straight and sometimes it would stay wavy. It would also burn my hair and snag alot of it so when I would finish ironing my hair there would be all these pieces of hair caught in the iron. I have also noticed that the red coat on the iron is coming off and I take very good care of my iron. For my birthday this year I'm planning on getting the chi turbo so I can say goodbye wigo.
waste of money

At first it was good, then it began to take longer to heat up and now the plates do not fit together right. It is almost as if they bent outward. I do not recommend this product.
Lousy flat iron

So far, this is the only flat iron I've purchased and at first I was happy with it...but that has changed. My hair has become so dried out and damaged and I attribute that to it's use. It takes FOREVER to straighten my hair with it, as I have to go over sections repeatedly, and the affect doesn't last. My hair will frizz and pouf up again even after getting it as straight as I can. Plus, hairs get caught in it sometimes and it pulls 'em. I've used a friend's Chi flat iron in the past and it worked beautifully. As soon as I buy a new one, the Wigo is going in the trash.
