I have had this Wigo model for almost three years and it works fine. I am in the market for a new one, though, because I am wearing my hair pretty short now. This straightener has been fairly reliable throughout the past three years (seeing as how I went through about 3 in the two years before I got this one). I would definitely only recommend it for shoulder length and longer, though. I have been having trouble getting all of my hair with my new short do. Overall, it is a good product at a nice value.
If you like your hair, don't use this (or any Wigo) iron

This iron takes a long time to heat up, doesn't hold the hair well in between the plates, snags it - but that's not even the worst part of it. The 3rd time I used it, it started smoking horribly. Can't say anything about durability as it lasted me less than a week. This was hands down the worst money I've ever spent!!

I bought this iron for an Easter present for my daughter and 4 days later it won't even turn on. Did it burn out already? Does the on/off switch not work anymore? It has lasted only 4 days....what a waste of money! This product is defective and it should be recalled.

Still working after 2 years

I got my Wigo about 2 years ago, and it is still working as well as it did when I first got it. I haven't used it as much in the last year, but so far no problems. It does have a tendency to snag my hair a little, but so far I haven't had any problems with the plates chipping or wearing. (I usually use the 10 or 11 heat setting.)
I noticed that my hair gets a bit dry after using this iron a lot, but it definitely works better than the cheap non-ceramic iron I tried before this. I just ordered a Sedu though, to see if it will not dry out my hair so much or snag it.

I purchased my Wigo Straightener for about $80, and it stopped working after 5 months! However, they replaced mine pretty quickly. awesome service. The one they replaced it with looks just like this one, but the plates are red. It wasn't the wavy-looking straightener that they sell on this site. Anyway, I've had that replacement for over a year, and it works pretty well. it's not amazing. it snags my hair. i have split ends, but it does it's job. it heats up pretty quickly too.

Well...I decided to upgrade from my old ceramic flat iron thinking one that cost $80 would be better. After 6 months, not only is the ceramic plate chipping, but it damaged my hair. My hairdresser told me this is the worst she has seen my hair and recommended I immediately switch flat irons. I'm going to try the Sedu...hopefully that will work better for me!

I have to agree with some of the other reviews on this product. I too went to the beauty supply store 2 years ago and purchased this straightener under the impression from the clerk that this straightener was the best out there at the time. Ha, well this just goes to show that sales clerks arent your friends, they are just that and only that, sales clerks. Anyway this product broke after only a year of carefull and rare usage. It really pissed me off, due to the lack of my receipt. So I would never ever recommend this to anyone!
curious....

I loved this flat iron while it lasted. With a little bit of BioSilk involved, my out-of-control mane was unrecognizably smooth, despite its occasional snagging and pulling while using the iron. A stranger suggested that I model for a Pantene Pro-V commercial. However, after about 6 months, the flat iron stopped heating up. I replaced it and experienced the exact same thing. So here I am receiptless, with no option except to use it as a pair of salad tongs.
I love it!!!

I bought the Wigo straightener about 3 years ago when my cheap one broke. I have loved it since then. It's the longest I've had a straightener without it breaking. I live in Guam and it withstands the humidity here. My hair is curly and frizzy and very thick and it takes about 30 minutes to straighten it but I also use small sections at a time. This is a great straightener for people who don't want to spend the money for a Chi. Sadly, this last plane ride to Guam broke my straightener so I'm looking to buy Chi, after all of these years.

I have had this product for 4 years and love it. I have thich wavy hair and use this daily and it works! Other brands do not work as well and even when the heating element went out after 2 years Wigo replaced my iron with no problems. I would recommend this to anyone and do recomend it to my friends.

my hair's pretty long, a little wavy and frizzy, so I got the iron just to tame and get my hair straighter. It worked great for me, but I don't know if it'll do the same for thick hair or extra curly. The only thing that sucks is that it stopped heating about a year and a half after I got it, and I stupidly threw away the box, along with the warranty. Back then, the iron was one of the pricey ones in the salons, and so I though it would work the best, but now there are much better ones out there. You might want to consider a Sedu or a Solia.

This product starts out nicely, but it quickly wears out your hair. It pulls and tugs hair. The CHI is much smoother. I plan to buy another brand and feel like I wasted my money.

First of all I bought this straightener because the store that I bought it from said that it was like the chi only cheaper($80 total). So I decided to buy it and I threw away the box not thinking anything of it. Only after about a month it would not keep my hair straight and it also FRIED my hair. I have stayed with it for some dumb reason and I regret it. I have had it for a little under a year now and the plates are chipping???? There is metal and then only a thin layer of ceramic!!!!how is that good.. My sister has a chi which makes the wigo look like trash and it makes my hair feel and look amazing.. I would suggest to research and do not go by what the seller has to say..
P.s.I am in the process of contacting the company to inform them how bad of a product they are selling. I talked to a rep. today and they said all they could do is replace it if I send in $5 but I told them that I did not want to waste any more money on this product...the store said that they would not take it back because I do not have the box for it...yes I read the directions and used it properly...just wait yours will die soon!!! my sisters chi also broke and she had no problem with the company they sent her a new $200 one... Good luck but DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

This iron is great. I've had it now for a year and I am very happy with it. I am also planing to buy Wigo Curling Ceramic iron to curl the ends of my hair. I have very thik hair and it takes about 30-45 minuites to blow dry my hair flat in a professional salon. With this iron it takes me 10-15 munites and it stays like that till I wash my hair (usualy between 4-5 days). I don't know why people complain, and it is also soooo much nicer then a simple Revlon iron, cause it's much smoother on your hair.

I bought my wigo flat iron just over a year ago. My hair is naturally straight with a few waves so you wouldn't think it would be difficult to straighten it. The wigo left my hair extremely dry at the ends, not smooth. Once I stepped outside (I live in humid, sunny FL) my hair turned to frizz! The iron conveniently broke a month after the warranty expired.
It turned out to be a good thing because I went to follica.com and read all of the reviews before buying my current flat iron, the sedu. I love it. Now my hair looks like it does when I leave the salon everyday. It even stands up to the humidity! After seeing the difference and realizing how much the reviews helped me make a better choice, I had to post.
Hope my experience helps someone else.

I RECEIVED THIS FLAT IRON AS A GIFT. IT WAS WONDERFUL, UNTIL IT STOPPED HEATING 10 MONTHS LATER. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY AND THEY REPLACED IT FOR FREE. WELL, THE NEW ONE STOPPED WORKING AFTER ONLY 30 DAYS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY AGAIN. THEY HAVE AGREED TO REPLACE IT. I LOVE THIS FLAT IRON WHEN IT WORKS! HATE THE INCONVENIENCE OF SENDING IT BACK TO THE COMPANY AND WAITING FOR THE NEW ONE TO ARRIVE. A FEW OF MY FRIENDS HAVE THE SAME FLAT IRON AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS.
