I have tried straightening my hair for some time by using hot tools straightening iron (the one with purple plate). If you want your hair to look shimy and not dry, I always use snafu (like a roll-on for hair) it helps hair manage the heat. I really recommend snafu when using flat irons or any kind of hair wax.
