Curls don't last

The curling iron curled well when I originally curled my hair, but about an hour later you couldn't even tell I curled my hair. I had previously been using a Chi and the curls lasted for hours, even if I brushed my hair out the curls would just come right back with the Chi. Very disappointed in this curling iron; I will be returning it.

Works Great but doesn't last

I bought this iron 3 months ago and I absolutly loved it. Only thing is it quit working a few weeks ago and will not stay heated. It's most likely a short in the chord because if you move it a certain way it will come on but then shuts right back off again. Very disappointing since I paid over $30 for it.
disappointed!

i bought this curling iron, and i love the way it works- grips the hair well and the curls really last...however, within a matter of months (it's not even 6 months old yet!) the coating is burning and peeling and generally falling off. if i use it much more, i'm going to have to throw it away....trust me, i'm not buying the same one again.

At first I was really excited about this curling iron and it worked well, but after only two months of use (not even daily use) the tourmaline coating started to burn and peel off.
Great!

My hair is slightly wavy but mostly straight, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to curl!!!!! I asked for this for christmas, making sure it was cheap because I didnt want to waste money, and the results were above and beyond my expectations! If you are looking for a good curling iron on a budget this is the iron for you!!!! And it's pink, what else could a girl ask for!?

This curling iron works really well. I have tried to curl my hair times before with brands like ion, conair, revlon , remington and hot tools... but the curl would come out ugly. It burned my hair and the tips were horrible. And to top it off the curl would only last for like an hour then my hair would go back to it's natural shape. With this curling iron I can curl my hair after blow drying or straight out of the towel. And it stays all day!It worked so well i bought thae matching straightner!

i absolutely LOVE this product!! i am caucasian, and have thick, wavy, frizzy hair that i straighten every day, and sometimes curl for special occasions. however, i had to curl my hair the night before the event, the morning of, and again right before i left!! such a waste of time!! BUT this curling iron is AMAZING and it curled my hair after ONE use!! plus, it made my hair extremely shiny. i definitely recommend it!!
Better than Revlon, Faster than Vidal but not the best

just got this -- am a bit disappointed. It's okay but I notice no difference whatsoever and I mean none from the supposed tourmaline coating and active ions. Probably would have been just as happy with a same old same old Conair Instant Heat. Don't know whether their Infiniti model, which also features tourmaline ceramic, might use those features a little more effectively. (it's also five bucks cheaper)
This curling iron's not bad -- nice large tip that stays completely cool, and the yellow to green indicator lights that tell you whether the temperature is low or high is a convenient feature, probably helps you avoid scorching.
The clamp grips the hair a bit too well for my taste -- I like to be able to slide it around with a bit more ease for corkscrew-type curls.
On the plus side, it does come with a three year guarantee, and it is, like Hot Tools, made by Helen of Troy, so if you like Hot Tools, this may be a cheaper but still acceptable option.
Note: it comes with a card to order replacement springs for $1 plus $S&H, which presumably means that like Hot Tools, the springs on this wear out after a while.

I have naturally wavy/curly dark brown hair so when I went to wave my hair with this I thought it did a decent job, i noticed a funny smell and my hair-while it wasnt great-wasn't bad. Thennn I went to curl my friend's hair which is blonde. After being on her hair for all of about 5 seconds the strand of hair that was wrapped around it began to turn black and the smell was AWFUL! I took it off immediatly and the hair just broke off in my hand.
Chi products are amazing. do not waste money on this.
worth every penny!

I used this curling iron over the weekend and loved it! I wanted to add some big, soft curls to my naturally straight hair and it worked perfectly. Not only did it heat up quickly but it also kept the curl right away so I didn't have to curl certain areas over and over. My hair had pretty waves all through it. I was quite pleased!
