Awesome - until it broke after 7 months

Loved this dryer for my fine, straight hair and used it every day for 7 months, even though it's considered a travel dryer. Then the fan broke suddenly while it was in use (which is startling - loud noise and smoke smell), and it died. I would give it 5 stars while it worked, though. :) While working, it gave excellent results, with silky, shiny hair and quick drying time.
One previous reviewer had a theory that some of us were traveling overseas and then back to the US and forgetting to change the electrical settings; that wasn't the case in this situation. This was actually my second one of this same dryer. The first one died after about 6 months of use (and there was no overseas travel with that one, either). I loved it so much, though, that I decided to try another one.
Worked awesome then it broke!

I had this dryer for 7 months, and it worked great, I even wrote a glowing review. But yesterday, I turned it on it made a loud snapping sound and the fan just broke! Awful, that a hair dryer that worked great on my hair is so cheaply made. I would not recommend buying this now unless you want to risk having to spend money again in less than a year for a new dryer.
This was great when it worked

I used this dryer about 8 months and just broke on me yesterday and I only wash my hair about every three days! The fan broke off and there is a burning smell. When it worked it left my fine hair smooth and bouncy but now I am looking for a new dryer and don't want to take a change buying another one in the event this happens again.
WORST PRODUCT EVER

It's really too bad that there is not a NO STAR option! When I first used the dryer the results were not even notable, my hair felt dry and frizzy from using it. I was dissappointed, but I was flat out mad when 3 months later I picked it up and heard the fan fall out of the back and into the middle of the dryer. It then began to have a burning smell. Don't waste your money, my $17 conair dryer is much better...
Works just as expected!

I bought this dryer about a month ago. I did write a review after I had used it for a little over a week and before I left for my travels to Europe. It worked great. I just got back from Europe and it worked great there too. I have had absolutely no problems with it at all, here or abroad. My hair feels great and it dries fast. Definitely great for defrizzing (and that's without any de-frizzing products). I'm guessing that a majority of the issues and problems people are having with their hair dryer burning out is simply not realizing or forgetting that you need to switch the voltage on the dryer from 110 over to 220V when traveling to places outside of North America. If your dryer is set to 110V and you plug it into the outlet in Europe it will probably spark when you put it in and when you turn it on it will just totally fry your dryer.

Seeing all the negative reviews here made me a bit skeptical to purchase this but because the bio-ionic travel dryer was out of stock I decided to buy this one knowing that I had a 30 day money back guarantee.
Well I've had it for 3 weeks now and so far so great! It cuts my drying time down to 6-7 minutes and I have long medium thick hair. I don't think it completely eliminates frizz - I don't know anything out there that ever will 100% eliminate frizz, especially when it's raining outside and humid, but it does make my hair noticeably smoother and i don't have flyaways. So far, I've only used the dryer here in the states but I am going to Europe in a couple of days for 2 weeks so I'll see if I have any of the issues that some other people have had here.
what the hell?

I took it out of the box, plugged it in, turned it on...puff of smoke...and it shuts down. This is the worst hairdryer ever..and even worse I paid $174 + tax for it.
customer service rocks!!!

Where I would have agree that the travel dryer did not hold up as long as one would think a 130 dollar dryer would, when I contacted customer service after using the dryer for a year I was pleasantly surprised when I did not have to mail the broken one in and because they were so sorry about my experience they upgraded my dryer to the featherweight and sent me some products. I loved the dryer, I just wanted the travel version to last a bit longer. But really the customer service was quick to e-mail me back and dedicated to doing the right thing. I would buy another dryer from them just because of this situation. I wonder if others tried e-mailing customer service as this was the route I used.

Add me to the list of frustrated T3 customers. I love the larger dryer, but the travel dryer lasted 1 trip. It broke in non-abused carry-on luggage! Too fragile for me. My loss.
Not worth the money spent.

Poorly constructed. Overly Priced. Will not purchase again. On the plus side, it did leave my hair soft and quite silky, but not $130 worth of silkiness.

I have a busy travel schedule and purchased this dryer to take along with me. Well, the very first time I turned it on, it failed. I heard a loud popping, crackling sound (my husband came running in from the other room in our hotel suite to see what happened and find out if I was okay). Then, the dryer emitted a little puff of smoke and an acrid, burning smell filled the air. After that, the dryer stopped working.
I cautiously tried turning it on again (with my husband protesting loudly and telling me to throw it in the trash). In retrospect, I admit that I probably shouldn't have tried turning the dryer on again, but I just couldn't believe that $100+ had gone up in smoke the very first time I tried to use it. Well, the dryer wouldn't turn on again (which was probably a good thing) and that was that. I could not return it from where I bought it (I didn't buy it through Folica, but will now only buy through Folica because of their excellent return policy). I tried to have it repaired by the manufacturer, but never received a satisfactory resolution.
I will never buy another T3 product again. I was not only disappointed with the dryer's failure and manufacturer's response, but was also extremely resentful about losing $100+ on it. I strongly advise against buying this dryer. But if you must have it, be sure to buy it from somewhere like Follica with a fair return policy...since I have a feeling you might be returning it shortly after you buy it.
Don't waste your money!

Received this as a gift after reading it was highly rated by several magazines. Should have checked online opinions before asking for one!! Used it for 3.5 weeks until acrid smoke poured out the end one morning. The motor/fan just seized and that was it. It does have a four year warranty, however, you must return to the company at your own expense and include $14.95 for shipping & handling. The process takes 3+ weeks from the time they receive the dryer until you get a replacement. Their customer service is non-responsive, bordering on rude. I won't make the mistake of purchasing another of their products!

I recently purchased a T3 overnight hairdryer. It does as good a job as the large size which I also have. It dries your hair in less time and with less damage than others I have tried. It really is worth the money and does what it says it will. The size is also excellent for packing in luggage.
Do I dare try a third one?!

Love it when it works...
I agree with everyone here - my second travel dryer just broke this morning! The first one broke after a year, Sephora was awesome about exchanging it for the current one, which lasted only about 2 months. What the heck?! Do I dare try a third, upgrade to the $200 one, or try to get Sephora to give me my money back? There's NO WAY that I'm dealing with T3's crappy customer service...
Fan breaks

I bought one of these at Sephora and after four uses, the fan blade broke for no reason. I liked how the dryer dried my hair quickly, and made the mistake of buying another. You guessed it - after only about a month, the same thing happened with the fan blade. At least Sephora was great about taking back the last one -- but I'm never buying another one.
On/Off Switch Burned Up

My T3 hair dryer lasted almost 2 years. Then this weekend it shut off and will not come back on. The on/off switch burned up and will not move. Mine was purchased from Sephora and I expected a lot more than 2 years out it.

Loved it - while it worked. Have had it about 3 months & yesterday apparently the screw holding the fan in place fell out. So guess it is trash. Have never traveled with it. It was a gift - have no idea where purchased.

I have had the same issue. It's suppose to be a travel dryer. So you should be able to throw the dryer in your gym bag, suitcase and go. No, if it bounces 2 much I feel the inside fan blade comes loose and you can't put it back on at all. I bought my from Sephora and at $130 I feel it should work likea a charm. It dries my hair in half the time, I have curly hair so I use the diffuser and my hair looks great. The manager at Sephora told me to call the company with the warranty information next time. We will see how long it lasts this time. I've went through 4 dryers in 8 weeks no kidding. That's ridiculous.

I'm lucky that I haven't had any problems with this breaking. I travel with it about once a month and while it's definitely better than any hotel dryer, it's not nearly as good as the full size t3 tourmaline dryer. It takes a long time for my medium/long hair to dry with this and I have more fly aways than when I use my full size t3.
Overall, it's nothing special, but it gets the job done, eventually.
