Happy with my Super Solano

I've been using my Super Solano hairdryer daily for over a year, and with a little maintenance I haven't had any problems with it. Ninety to $100.00 is not a lot to pay for a good, salon quality hair dryer (think of it like a pair of shoes that you wear often, or changing the oil in your car). This is a machine that uses high heat and velocity to dry hair, and if you neglect keeping the filter clean (about every other use or so) or wrap the cord too tightly around it for storage, you'll end up with a dead hair dryer. One thing you can do to prolong the life of any hair dryer is to use the hose attachment on your vacuum cleaner to clean out any lint or dust your dryer pulls into it. High velocity hair dryers use quite a bit of suction to force air through them, and pull in all sorts of debris that the filter can't catch.
I own other expensive high end salon brands, but the Solano is my favorite. The balance is good and the air flow nozzle concentrates on the section of hair that I want dried without getting too hot. My hair is very long and this hair dryer styles it well.
Best dryer, but blows out at least once or twice a year

This is the best blow dryer I've found to straighten my curly hair. My hair stylist even uses the same one. But unfortunately, the motor blows on it at least once a year and I have to buy a new one. And they are quite expensive!
The reason I bought it was because the company claimed these things could be fixed, but the first time mine blew I called them and they couldn't tell me where to take it to get it fixed. Besides, it probably would have cost me the same thing to buy a new one.

I thought I would love this dryer but the motor blew after only 3 months and for about 2 weeks out of those 3 months I didn't even use it I let my hair airdry. I'm sending it back under warranty but it sure left a bad taste in my mouth.
good blowdryer

This is an awsome tool for us curly, puffy girls. It has awsome speed, yet expensive compared to other blowdryers. Mine lasted for almost 2 years and i only used it once a month. I've always been careful with it, and can't believe it died just like that.
good but heavy

Love my supersalono. My hairstylist recommended it to me over 3 years ago. Yes, I've been using the same hairdryer for 3 years...amazing. Prior to this purchase, I used the run of the mill dryer. Every 6 months or so I had to buy another one because they'd end up dying on me. I'm truly amazed at how long this dryer is lasting. The one negative is that the body is falling apart around it but the heart of the dryer is the same as the day I bought it.
Did not last for more than a year

I LOVE this hairdryer. I have only owned Solano's in the past. I understand that some hairdryers can have a short life, but I had my last Solano for seven years. I took it once a year to a place in Skokie, Illinois where they would clean it out, repair them, and distributed the blow dryers, too. I'm assuming you can find these places in every state, so you might want to look. For those of us that spend a lot of money on blow dryers, we usually have thick or unruly hair. My hairdryer takes a lot of abuse, but going to this place to just have it cleaned out has given my blowdryers extra life.
Dead after 6 months!

It's a great dryer but died after 6 months of use. I only used it every other day for 7 minutes at a time. Not enough that it should die!
great dryer!!

This dryer is powerful and has great settings to control the power and the heat of the air.
I would highly recommend it.
Should be named "Shortano"

Unfortunatley, while I did like this hairdryer as far as weight, power, and heat, it literally died on me this past morning after approx 1 year of use. Apparently, just missing the 1 year warranty cut off, guess this is why it is warranted for only 1 year. Too bad as I would buy it again but not now.

I've owned 2 of these hair dryers because the power is much better than any other. However, both died after just 1 year of use. I think they should be able to last longer than 1 year.

I bought the most expensive dryer in the store because I thought it would be a good investment. It did do a great job on my hair--for about one year and then it suddenly just died one day. I am very disappointed that something so expensive did not last nearly as long as my $30 Conair. I will never buy another one!
I'll never own a cheap dryer again

I bought this dryer a year ago and could not believe I was spending almost 100 dollars on a blow dryer. I was tired of not getting the same results at home as I did when I went to the salon. Well, let me tell you that now I can do a better job styling my hair than my stylist. This baby is heavy but it really performs! It's quiet and dries my hair in 1/2 the time my $25 dryers could. It also leaves my hair soft and shiny. I use it every day and it is still running very well. My 3 year old daughter loves the cool setting I use to dry her hair and won't let me use any other dryer. My husband can't get used to its heft but I rarely notice anymore unless I am away from it on vacation for a week. It's too heavy to pack and I don't want anything to happen to it for that money! I can't say if it's better than another salon quality dryer for the same money but I can say that if you are tired of cheap dryers that damage your hair and burn out in 6 months then you must try this dryer. My hair stylist did tell me that even he's never owned a Solano he said: "OOH you bought a Solano? Those are the best on the market!"

Generates higher heat, but less 'wind' then a regular $35 ConAir. Had both the model listed here and a more expensive $150 model. Both had short lives, less then 1 year before terminal death. My $35 ConAir has outlived both Solano's and my pet dog. My wife just got home with some new fancy smanchy $199 HairArt Ionic dryer. (I'm so excited I got the opportunity to have this money presumably wasted as well!) I give it a week.

I bought this a little over a year ago and loved it. Around a year of using it about every day, it started screeching. We were able to open it up and retighten a screw that was loose. We had to do this a couple of times because it was almost stripped.
Then...just after about a year a and 3 months of household use, the heating element went out on it completely.
After paying such a hefty price for a "professional" hair drier, I expected it to last longer than your store bought $25 ones.
It definitely performs (although heavy) much better than cheaper dryers but I can't justify the cost if it will die in just over a year.

mine just broke after 6 years of constant weekly home use! i more than got my money's worth. it's powerful, fast and well-designed. i always got professional-looking results with just the dryer and my favorite paddle brush, even though i'm no pro. i even dropped it a few times without any damage to it. my only warning is that it's a bit heavy, which i only really noticed when i'd lift it after a long period of not using it, e.g. after vacations, etc., and during a period of carpal tunnel. otherwise, i loved it, as did my friends and family, whose hair i often do.
Love it!

It's the best dryer I've ever used! It dries my hair quickly and I think I've been using it every day for almost 2 years. It's well worth the money. My mom has a different Solano model and she loves it too. The only reason I gave it 4 of 5 stars is that it's a little on the heavy side.

I bought what I thought was the best and quietest dryer out there. At $80-100 certainly the most expensive. It moves a lot of air. But the motor bearings went out and it began screeching. I took it apart and found that during manufacture some plastic interior parts were damaged. The filter fails to stop hair and dirt from entering the motor and bearings, guaranteeing failure in short order. I sent the Super Solano in for repair. $25 and a couple of weeks' wait made it "new" but it only lasted a few more months. Only my wife uses it; not in a salon. I threw it away.
