Heavy...like a brick!

This would be a great dryer if someone ELSE was blowdrying my hair straight but it is so heavy that I feel like I am doing arm curls in the gym. I LOATHE blowing out my hair but even more loathesome are the tight, frizzy lamb curls I get when I don't, so I look at it as a necessary evil. I purchased this dryer in an effort to at least cut down on the amount of time it takes to do this odious task so that I'll want to do it more often and look polished every day, as opposed to my current routine of doing it 2 or 3 times a week and then wearing a messy ponytail or wet bun the rest of the week. Unfortunately, the performance of this dryer does not make up for the fact that it feels like it's made of lead which, ironically, makes me blow out my hair even less. The upside? I now realize that weight is something that will be a huge consideration when choosing my next hairdryer!

I see good results with this hair dryer. I dislike that it is a little too heavy compared to the turbo I owned before and that last me 10 years. This product is used a lot in the hair salon I have been to, I am confident I made a good decision.

I really love this hairdryer. I had previously been using a Solano Scirocco but it's slowly dying - still works after two years but I can tell from the sound of the motor that it won't be long before it completley shuts down. I would have bought that model again but it's since been discontinued. I don't understand all the negative comments regarding how heavy this dryer is - I don't find it heavy at all and is definitley lighter than the Scirocco model. I will say it took some getting used to as far as styling, not sure why but at first my hair wasn't responding so I almost sent it back. But I experimented with volumizing gel and different brushes and learned how to use the cool shot button and can now say this is the best dryer I have ever owned. I have shoulder length hair that is layered and this is the only styling tool that I use so it's really important that I have a good dryer. I used to be a Hot Tools fan but after trying the Solano's I don't think I would ever go back to using anything else. My stylist uses Babyliss but I like the Solano better. The motor is very quiet and at first I didn't think it had enough power or heat but believe me it does. The air is so concentrated that you can't feel it as much as you do with other dryers, usually I get so warm when I'm styling my hair but I don't with this one. Botton line, this is a great dryer.
Love it!

I'm on my third one. The first one lasted over ten years. It became defective with the bad electric current while vacationing in Mexico. The second one was ruined by my toddler, still can't figure out how. Anyway, I've always had long, thick, frizzy hair that took about an hour to dry. This one takes 15 minutes. I also like that it's quiet. I don't mind the weight 'cause arms always need a work out. I've recommended it to anyone who has asked.
Heavy, but amazing

This is the Cadillac of blow dryers. It operates on more air than heat, great for straightening and air waving. Not the BEST for diffusing, but I almost never diffuse clients. I've had mine for 7 months, use it all day every day, and it's going strong.
If you want a lightweight dryer that uses more heat than air, go for a CHI dryer. Otherwise, the SuperSolano is nothing short of amazing.

Poor Results for Money Spent

I had a Salon Design blow dryer which was made in Italy and it was awesome for my thick, wavy course hair. I only had to use a flat iron to lock out the moisture from outside fog or humidity. With this dryer I never experienced post drying frizzies. My hair was always nice and sleek.
Unfortunately, my dryer died and it was no longer being made. So I bought a Super Solano. I haven't had a good hair day since. I now experience the post blow dryer frizzes everybody has written about and now use my flat iron constantly to try and style my hair. I hate this dryer and really feel cheated considering how much I paid for it. The results are comparable to any drug store dryer for less money.

I had purchased a Conair hair dryer in an emergency for only $39.99 with the same wattage/power, and it worked well but I expected this one to work better. Honestly, it did not. I have 3 daughters who would always want to borrow my Conair when they came home from college. I had each of them try the Solano to see how it compared. Every one of them thought that the Conair was superior. I would also recommend moving the switches. They always change when I hold the handle to hold the dryer. They are in the way.
Sorry! I don't think it is worth the money.
Mine hasn't died yet (8 months)

Bought this on Folica.com and very happy with the discounted price and shopping experience. So far my hairdryer is still working perfectly. However, I later bought a T3 Tourmaline Special edition ($149 at Folica). For $50 more, you get the same drying power, and a much quieter and lighter (in fact featherweight) device. This Solano feels more powerful (the engine roars in a satisfying way), but it is very heavy. I still love it though. Still, if this is your first expensive hair dryer purchase, you might want to check out the T3 instead.

This is the best hair dryer I have ever used! It dries my hair quickly, is not too loud, is not too heavy, and definitely takes a beating. I love it!

We recently visitied a resort in Antigua and they had this hair dryer in the room. I was impressed with this unit. It was well built, had perfect heat/volume settings and was very quiet. I ordered one as soon as we returned home. Never noticed before, but my barber has one and so does my wife's hairdresser.
bad product it lasted only a year

I love my solano. This is my third one and I do recomended it. It is a great blow dryer with a lot of power and the price is not bad at all. It has a life expectancy of a least around two years with full power, after that gets a little slower but still will work if the person has thinner hair (that is not my case).

My mom and I just love these hair dryers. I recently bought a new one so that when one is getting repaired (which is quite rarely) I still have a hair dryer to fix my hair with. I've had my other hair dryer for over 15 years now and still continues to work just as well as when I first bought it! These are by far the best hair dryers in the world! So durable and sturdy too! These hair dryers will last forever if you take care of them!

This is my 3rd one and I love it. It works for me and doesn't make my hair frizzy. My last one lasted a long time and I am inclined to say over 10 years.

This blowdryer is not only fast but it leaves my hair silky and smooth! I have had it for 20 years! NO kidding, even though I stopped using it for about half the years, its been sitting in my closet and STILL WORKS wonders! The ONLY downfall is that it doesn't have ceramic, or tourmaline, its just standard regular dryer. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT and its not too heavy either!

I got a SuperSolano when I finished hairschool and it lasted me four years, using it five days a week at work. Treat this like the expensive little machine that it, and it will serve you well.

Mine just died after 3 years of use. I bought one for my sister too and hers died on it's 2 year anniversary. It worked awesome the first year, but I could tell it was going downhill month after month. Overall, I was extremely happy with it (although, it was a bit heavy) and almost purchased another one until I settled on buying the CHI Rocket (after reading reviews). I'm looking forward to comparing the two.
good while it lasted
