Disappointing

It took far to long to heat up -- both on U.S. and Europe electrical systems -- and was not nearly as good as the two other U.S. flat irons my daughter and I own. Performance was comparable to an inexpensive flat iron I bought for $25 (and returned) at discount store. I wish I had returned it. The cord has a large, heavy, and bulky box that holds the transformer.
Pretty good although inconsistent

The iron's performance seemed inconsistent, but overall, I'm glad I bought it. I took it to 3 cities in Australia. In Sydney, the iron did not got hot enough, but if you close the iron tightly, you can get decent results. I had to turn it all the way to 450 and even then, it wasn't as hot as my sedu which heats up to only 270. However, in the other 2 cities, it worked great, it heated up quickly and was HOT. Thanks to the Solia, my hair turned out pretty good in all my vacation photos! :-)

I decided to go dual voltage because I'm studying abroad for semester in Spain (4 mo.) and didn't want to either go without one nor buy a cheap one there. It's not nearly as nice as my sisters' Chi, but gets the job done. I can definitely tell it doesn't get as hot as it could if it weren't dual voltage. The other thing I noticed that no one else seemed to comment on was the transformer has a fan in it that makes noise when it's plugged it. Not a big deal- it just surprised me. That black box is also really annoying making the straightener much less portable- but I don't know if you can escape that if you're going dual voltage.
I have very wavy hair and it takes a while to get it straight and I wouldn't replace a Chi with it. It does perform much better than any of the cheap grocery store models I had when I was younger though. I can't say much about the dual voltage performance as I have not used it overseas yet.
Do not purchase-multiple problems!

The first iron I received didn't heat up so Folica sent me a new one. However this one did not heat up at all. I received a third iron that worked (for a time), however 2 weeks into my trip to Europe it broke and only one plate worked! I had to borrow my room mate's cheap iron for the rest of my 6 week trip. In addition to the problems with the iron, the plug adaptor didn't fit in French outlets, I had to purchase a new adaptor when I arrived. My advice about this iron is do not purchase it, there's a reason why there is a 1 year warranty and it's because it is not good quality or reliable. Now I can't even exchange it for another one and I wasted my money.
Great flat iron for international travelers!!

I purchased this flat iron to take on a trip to China and it worked just fine. I have very thick natural curly hair and have straightened my hair for some time now. My original flat iron would not work in China (wrong voltage) so I purchased the Solia Universal Dual Voltage one to take on the trip. Works very well, but wish the iron itself was a little wider and larger in general...takes longer to do my hair than my other flat iron. Also it could use to close a bit tighter when you squeeze it on your hair, but it works well enough. I was very satisfied with the end result and had no problems with the voltage converter....it even comes with a plug to convert the prongs too. I would definitely recommend this item especially if you travel internationationally like I do.

This product saved me while we were in Portugal and Spain. It heated up fast enough and straightened my hair as good as the CHI at home. The price was comparable and worth it.

I bought this dual voltage flat iron for an upcoming trip to Spain. Unfortunately, it only worked once after I received it...and even then, it took nearly an hour to straighten hair that normally takes me half an hour. After the first time, the flat iron wouldn't even turn on for more than five minutes at a time. I had to return it to Folica ASAP. Of course, Folica's service was wonderful, as usual.

I have to admit I was very dissapointed with this product. It kept my hair straight for about an hour and that was it. I normally use a CHI and have zero problems. I ended up having to borrow a straightener from a friend in Europe. For sure a waste of money.

I bought this iron because I blew up my last two really good flat irons while traveling internationally. The flat iron is okay. Nothing spectacular. I will definitely keep it for travel, even though it is quite bulky. But I will likely purchase a new flat iron when I return. Both my Sedu iron and Paul Mitchell iron were much better than this one.

The product was purchased for a trip to Italy. The converter box was cumbersome and the indicator light did not function properly. The flat iron was shipped with an incorrect adaptor and never functioned correctly. It barely got warm even with the correct adaptor. I would not be in a big rush to purchase this product.

I used it for several weeks on a recent vacation in Europe. It worked extremely well and was light enough to bring with for several overnight trips.

I purchased this product to use during my trip to China. It worked great, and I still use it daily. My daughter who has very thick wavy hair said it does not get hot enough for her, but it has a 450 degree setting. Maybe she just didn't wait long enough for it to reach that temp.

I recieved this product yesterday which did not work at all. Firstly it was not in seal packaging. So I thought I was getting a second hand product. Secondly Folica does not arrange for pickup return and I have had to spend time to arrange for this. After waiting for 5 days it was not worthwhile to get a product from here. Folica has said that they will reimburse me on my shipping cost. I will have to wait and see if they do that.
The product was not up to standard as well.

I bought this iron since it has dual voltage. One downside is that the converter box is permanently attached to the unit, meaning that the cord attached to the iron runs into a box and from there is a cord that plugs into your wall. So it's not quite "light traveling" material. However, the heat is good when placed on high. Otherwise, for my hair, it doesn't get too hot on the low to mid settings. This was the first expensive iron I bought after buying cheapy ones and I like the way it makes my hair feel afterwards...but...I wouldn't recommend it unless your looking for an overseas dual voltage iron since it's quite wieldy to use on a daily or every-other=day basis!

I usually use a CHI flat iron but I know that when traveling a converter cannot handle curling irons, flat irons, etc., they just fry up. I travel internationally quite a bit for business and usually do the hair dryer and brush routine but always look like I'm having a bad hair day. I LOVE this flat ion-it performs BETTER than my CHI!! The Solia Flat Iron has a temperature setting so you can adjust the temp to your hair. I just came back from Germany and could plug it it (with an adaptor) and it did not smoke, burn, or smell in any way. My hair stayed straight throught the snow and rain. The directions that came with the flat iron do not pertain to this particular model and I was a little confused so I contacted Solia (not Folica) directly and they never responded to my questions and concerns but the flat iron worked perfectly and I am very happy with it.

You will not have a bad hair day when traveling out of the country if you have this tool along. Worked great on 220 Voltage!

At last, I found this Universal Dual Voltage for traveler. Feel as smooth as HAI and CHI that I had at home, plus dual voltage for international usage, plus universal plug....what more can you ask for. Downside is, unlike its sister products, this highend baby made in China.
