My hair looks great after using doing this.I wanted my hair to be shiny frizz free, and not poofy and this is what I did to achieve that.
(1)GET A SOLIA FLAT IRON
(2) Shampoo with SoftSheen-Carson OPTIMUM Oil Therapy Ultimate Recovery Shampoo(look in the section for ethinc hair care) it has coconut, olive, avacado and jojoba oil. the shampoo resues and smoothes damaged hair shaft, removes all styling residue without strippping, and retores intense moisturization from root to tip.
(3)Condition with the Ultimate Recovery Conditioner it has the same oils. The Conditioner Resues and helps prevent splitends and break points, Rejuvenates lifeless hair with strength, body and shine, and replenishes essential oils.
(4)I put one pump of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum in my hair tips to roots. This helps my hair dry fastwhen I blowdry or just let air dry, it also gives shine and helps with the frizz.
(5)Use your SOLIA to flat iron in sections when I'm done I use Chi Silk Infusion and my hair comes out looking great

Product Knowledge

Many people feel they can get just as good as salon products buying pantene or garnier. Basically you are covering your hair in wax and plastic and melting it in when you straighten your hair. If you are willing to pay 100 dollars on a flat iron thats better for your hair why not pay maybe 20 dollars more every couple months for decent products that dont trash your hair or coat it in plastic? Suggestions....
1.Shampoo and condition with a Hydrating Line
Biolage Frizz Control
Biolage Ultra Hydrating
Redken SmoothDown
2.Use a small amount of Blowdry cream
My very favorite is Redken Satin Wear (makes a huge difference!)
3. Blow Dry until completely dry
4. Part hair off into small sections and use a protective spray.
Kenra Thermal Setting Spray
Redken Heat Glide (if you dont like a spray)
5. After staightening hair i like to use a serum to add a little more shine and softness.
Silk Therapy from Biosilk ( a little goes a long way)
Super Skinny from Paul Mitchell
I have huge puffy hair and i have found through trial and error that this helps my hair so much, so hopefully this can help you too:)

Products for Shine and softness

I wanted to share my favorite products that I have used for many years. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy. I had 3-4 Japanese treatments within the first 4 years of me straigtening my hair, surprisingly there wasn't noticeable damage, yet it did take some time to get it out completely. About 2 years now I have the flat iron process down and opted to no longer do the thermals because the chemicals are harsh and I do want the flexibility of doing my hair curly whenever. I use the Paul Mitchell Skinny Shampoo and supercharged moisturizer daily because my hair is oily. When low on budget I use Garnier's Sleek shampoo and sometimes their sleek and shine conditioner which I do not recommend using daily because it will cause to much elasticity and break. It is great for giving it some extra moisture when needed.

After shampooing I live by Paul Mitchell's Skinny Serum, it leaves my course hair soft and shiny! I recently started using it along with Biosilk since I received it as a gift. My hair is amazingly soft and shiny everyday.

Though you will hear many say that using a flatiron is not good for your hair, I believe with the rights products you can protect it very well. You would never know by looking at my hair that my hair gets flat ironed everyday as their is no harsh damage.

cheap tricks*

i know that some people cant afford the salon products that are expensive, but well worth the money, and latley i have been getting a little low on money and i was forced to stop using my paul mitchel shampoo and conditioner, and my leave in conditioners and shine products that i buy from my local salon , but i believe that you can get the same effect from cheaper brands too, i use pantene ice shine shampoo & conditioner, then i put herbal essence none of your frizzness leave in conditioner then i blow dry my hair, if you use a low setting on your dryer it dosent damage your hair that much, and saves alot of time, i dont have the time to sit and wait for my hair to dry like some people do, and after my hair is completly dry i straighten it untill it is smooth, then i rub a small ammount of aloe shine hair polisher evenly through my hair,( the super light formula, it dosent weigh down your hair)be sure to never use over a quarter size drop, and only use that much if your hair is extremly dry and/or curly, my hair is naturally wavy and dry and i only use a drop about as big as the tip of a marker lid and that is enough , this works just as good or better than using all of the salon brands like pureology and paul mitchel, and alot cheaper to, everything i use comes to a grand total of about 25 dollars and you can find it all at your local walmart, or big lots, but if you are one of the lucky ones that can afford alot of salon products then i sugest you use them, pureology has worked the best for me, it makes your hair really soft and shiny and you dont have to work as hard to get your hair smooth, but in the end, you get the same affect which ever you use.. personally i like the cheaper way better, you save money and i get compliments on my hair all the time and nobody can believe that i don't use any salon products, i hope you find my tips usefull

what I do/use

I have shoulder length, medium-fine, thin wavy/curly hair that is somewhat damaged at the ends.

In the shower I apply conditioner to my ends BEFORE I shampoo - I leave the conditioner in for a minute or two before I shampoo my scalp. I switch brands a lot, however right now I am using Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight shampoo and conditioner.

I PAT my hair with a towel to remove excess water after getting out of the shower, I don't wring it out or shake the towel all over my head or anything crazy like that. I then wrap my hair in a small towel for about 45 minutes, and after I remove that towel I apply Redken Extreme Anti-Snap (a friggin' MIRACLE product), brush it out carefully with a boar bristle brush and let it air dry completely.

After that I straighten using no additional products, and my hair looks gorgeous and healthy.

The BEST COMBO of products to use with your Solia straightener!
submitted by: Kristy, Philadephia, PA, Mon Sep 04 2006

I totally agree with "Mary" who posted on 6/12/05. My hair is also long, fine, color treated, and I also blowdry my hair and use the Solia straightener daily. Use ID CARE Heat Silk Lotion from CREDE (Japanese straightening). I bought mine online. I use this along with Bio Silk silk therapy on damp hair and I blow dry it. Then I use the Solia iron on it, and follow that up with just a tiny bit of Pureology Shinemax, which I rub on my hands and lightly run over the middle and ends of my hair to add shine and tame any flyaways. I have found that this is the BEST combination of products to use with your Solia straightening iron. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

I'm posting my secrets for all who ask what i do to my hair.1st. i wash with pantene relaxed & natl. (love the shampoo hate the contditioner) next condtn. with rgis's olive oil (hair mask, yellow) not the green condtioner. it smells really good leaves the hair really soft. next i use paul mitchell the condtioner its a blue leave in condtioner seems thick but it will not weigh your hair down i use about a quarter size my hair is to my bra strap. next i use paul mitchell seal and shine its a spray leave in i blow my hair dry, last i use matrix iron smoother its in an orange spray bottle. i let the hair air dry about 10 mins because if you use the solia on wet hair the steam burns the scalp. try my reigmen and let me know what you think please do not put any oils in the hair

KMS flat out
submitted by: It really works!, Tue Aug 22 2006
15 of 15 people found this tip helpful.

I used to find that even just blow drying my hair caused it to feel brittle and damaged, so I was scared to straighten it, incase I went bald. However, I found ksm flat out in the knick of time. This weightless product sprays onto your hair and protects it from heat up to 450 (I think), and repels frizz and humididty. After blowdrying my hair shone like crazy and felt soft to to the touch, something which has never happened before. Using it with the solia was like heaven, my hair felt amazing afterwards, it really felt healthy. I got compliments on my hair frequently.

Best hair conditioner ever!

I recently discovered this product when used with Solia flat iron. It's Garnier Fructis Deep conditioner. It doesn't only make my hair shine but eliminates split ends. Just apply after shampoo rinse after 3 minutes. Use Solia flat iron and your hair is sleek and shine!
