Must-Have Products To Buy From Folica When You Buy Any Flat Iron

Thinking of buying a flat iron? Well, there's more to it than just a flat iron. When you buy a flat iron from Folica be sure that you buy these along with your flat iron! These products will ensure that your flat iron will last long, be easier to use, and straighten your hair much faster. This tip doesn't just go for the Sedu, make sure you get these products with ANY flat iron.

1. Time after time, build-up will cling to your flat iron, coating your precious flat iron in gunk and burnt residue. This will cause your hair to stink and also it will take you longer to flat iron your hair. Clean it with Sedu Professional Styling Iron Cleaner which is sold on Folica for $6.99

2. Using heat on your hair frequently will cause damage to your hair, BUT not if you use a heat protectant! If you're looking for a high-quality heat protectant, get FHI Heat Hot Sauce, which is sold on Folica for $14.00.
OR you can get any Sedu Heat Protectant for $12.99. They have heat protectants that volumize, moisturize, and smoothe your hair. If your hair is color treated, you can get one that is for Colored hair.

3. It is much easier to flat iron your hair if you put it into sections before you straighten it, and clipping your hair away so it doesn't get in the way of the section you are straightening can make the job go quicker. Use Metropolis The Crane Hair Clips to clip your hair into sections while flat-ironing it. These clips cost $9.99 for a box of 6 clips.

4. When you store your flat iron, make sure it is kept where it can't get dusty, dirty, kicked around, stepped on, or damaged. I keep my flat iron inside the Folica Heat Proof Iron Mat/Pouch which currently comes free with all flat irons. When you are not using it, slip it inside the pouch with the plates closed and the plug UNPLUGGED, resting on top of the pouch. While you are straightening your hair, you can also use it as a mat to not burn countertops and such.

So, there you have it! Four must-have flat iron essentials to get with your flat iron. Make sure you grab all these products from Folica when you get a flat iron!

Cheap Alternative of Products to use with your Solia

Ok. This is basically a guide for people who have the solia but don't have the money for those fancy-schmancy products recommended in most of these tips. Well, here's just a few things you should know:

1. It doesn't matter which shampoo and conditioner you use. I DO highly recommend using a conditioner. Try an Herbal Essences combo (Buy one bottle shampoo, one bottle conditioner) - $5.00 (SOLD AT TARGET)

2. 5 PRODUCTS MAX (NOT conditioner and shampoo) YOU DO NOT NEED 20000 PRODUCTS!!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! It will only make your hair look and feel worse.

3. FIVE WORDS: Sedu Moisturizing Heat Protecting Boost. This is a MUST. - $13.00 (SOLD ON FOLICA)

4. Serum. Serum is your friend. Only use about half a pump if you want to use it daily. Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum is the BEST. It is Shine Spray, Hair Wax and Leave-In Conditioner all in one! NOTE: IF YOU USE THIS, YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE WAX/SHINE SPRAY!!
It may be a tad on the "pricey" side, but it is WORTH IT! Highly highly highly recommended!!! - $16.00 (SOLD ON FOLICA)

5. Leave-In Conditioner. I recommend using a squirt of this stuff before you go to bed so in the morning you can apply some serum and your hair wont look weighed-down. Try Garnier Fructise Sleek & Shine - $3.00 (SOLD AT TARGET)

6. Hair Spray. If you are looking to use your flat iron to curl or flip your hair, hair spray is a MUST. If you do not wish to use your flat iron to curl or flip your hair, you don't need it. Try Garnier Fructise hair sprays- $3.00
(SOLD AT TARGET)
*************************
GRAND TOTAL: 40 DOLLARS FLAT!! WOO HOO! This will last you about 2-3 months.
*************************
PROCEDURE:

1 - SHAMPOO AND CONDITION YOUR HAIR.

2 - Towel dry it as best as you can. Now, you can either use a blow drier or let your hair air-dry. Granted you're on a budget, and if you're on a budget you might think a cheap blow drier will work. NO. LET YOUR HAIR AIR DRY RATHER THAN USING A LOW QUALITY BLOW DRIER.

3- When your hair is dry, apply 1 pump of Serum.

4- Spray on the Heat Proctectant and flat iron your hair.

5- Apply a SMALL AMOUNT of Leave-In Conditioner. You can also use more serum if you'd like. If you do use serum, use HALF A PUMP. When you use these two together, use them SPARINGLY

6- When you go to bed, apply a quarter-size squirt of leave-in conditioner.

7- In the morning, comb your hair and apply half a pump of serum.
***************************

After that, you can use these products as much as you think you may need to.

So, there you have it! The key to unlocking great, smooth, straight hair on a budget! You can buy some of these at Target, some from Folica. I hope this has helped you and please remember NOT TO USE SO MANY PRODUCTS AT ONCE!!

*************************************************
**** AFTER USING HAIR PRODUCTS, IT IS VERY HELPFUL TO MIX A SQUIRT OF SHAMOO WITH A SPOONFUL OF BAKING SODA AND LATHER INTO YOUR HAIR TO REMOVE BUILD-UP! THIS WILL KEEP YOUR HAIR WEIGHTLESS AND LIGHT! IT WILL ALSO KEEP YOUR FLAT IRON CLEANER SINCE THERE'S LESS BUILD UP. ;) ****

Just a few tips.

Just a few tips you might want while using the Solia or any other straightener.

1. ALWAYS PROTECT YOUR HAIR. Use a heat protector, even if you don't think you need it. You do. It will reduce and prevent damage and it also helps hold the style longer. I really like Matrix sleek.look Iron Smoother.

2. DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR, AND ALWAYS USE A CONDITIONER AFTER SHAMPOOING. You should also buy moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, to help heat-damaged hair. Using a leave-in conditioner while hair is damp will also help keep it moisturized also. I use Sunsilk Hydra-TLC.

3. USE A SLIGHTLY DAMP WASHCLOTH TO CLEAN STRAIGHTENER. Most likely, after a little while, product buildup will form on the plates of your straightener. Just use a slightly damp washcloth and gently rub where the buildup is. It should remove easily.

4. GET A TRIM. I will admit that I am pretty bad about this one myself, but it will help keep split ends from splitting upwards in your hair. Also, getting your split ends cut off will make your ends easier to straighten.

Well, I hope these tips help you out a little bit.

Soft, Shiny, silky..........

1.Wash your hair in Aussie Sydney Smooth shampoo and conditioner. Take a wide tooth comb and comb your hair while the conditioner is still in to insure even coverage (it helps to brush your hair before you take a shower) wash out the conditioner with cold or luke-warm water.

2.Pat or Towel dry excess water out of your hair.

3.Comb through your hair with a wide toothed comb.

4.Spray TRESemm? thermal creations heat tamer protective spray or TRESemm? no-frizz shine spray all over your hair.
Then take a blow dryer and blow dry with your fingers. Stop when hair is damp but not soaking wet.

5.Apply a dime size of SunSilk Straighten-up 24/7 crème or Matrix Sleek.look Smoothing System Styling crème all through out the hair (try avoiding your roots. They produce natural oils.) or the tips for extra moisture.

6.Air dry if you’ve got extra time.

7.If you’re short on time then blow dry with a round brush or paddle brush on a low setting. Stop when hair is completely dry.

8.Straighten with a Solia Flat Iron using TRESemm? Thermal Creations heat tamer protective spray or TRESemm? no-frizz shine spray. Spray on each section of hair before you flat iron. If you want natural volume avoid the roots of your hair.

9.Finish with Aussie Sydney Smooth 12 hour anti-humidity hair spray.

10.Once a week apply a small amount (quarter-size) of ARM & HAMMER? Baking Soda into your palm along with your shampoo, it will remove product build-up and make your hair shiny. I recommend doing this on Sundays.

11.Twice a moth use V05 Hot Oil Hair Treatment, not necessary, but will help keep your hair moisturized.

2. Aussie Sydney Smooth Conditioner

For hard to manage hispanic/black hair

My hair looks great after using doing this.I wanted my hair to be shiny frizz free, and not poofy and this is what I did to achieve that.
(1)GET A SOLIA FLAT IRON
(2) Shampoo with SoftSheen-Carson OPTIMUM Oil Therapy Ultimate Recovery Shampoo(look in the section for ethinc hair care) it has coconut, olive, avacado and jojoba oil. the shampoo resues and smoothes damaged hair shaft, removes all styling residue without strippping, and retores intense moisturization from root to tip.
(3)Condition with the Ultimate Recovery Conditioner it has the same oils. The Conditioner Resues and helps prevent splitends and break points, Rejuvenates lifeless hair with strength, body and shine, and replenishes essential oils.
(4)I put one pump of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum in my hair tips to roots. This helps my hair dry fastwhen I blowdry or just let air dry, it also gives shine and helps with the frizz.
(5)Use your SOLIA to flat iron in sections when I'm done I use Chi Silk Infusion and my hair comes out looking great

Product Knowledge

Many people feel they can get just as good as salon products buying pantene or garnier. Basically you are covering your hair in wax and plastic and melting it in when you straighten your hair. If you are willing to pay 100 dollars on a flat iron thats better for your hair why not pay maybe 20 dollars more every couple months for decent products that dont trash your hair or coat it in plastic? Suggestions....
1.Shampoo and condition with a Hydrating Line
Biolage Frizz Control
Biolage Ultra Hydrating
Redken SmoothDown
2.Use a small amount of Blowdry cream
My very favorite is Redken Satin Wear (makes a huge difference!)
3. Blow Dry until completely dry
4. Part hair off into small sections and use a protective spray.
Kenra Thermal Setting Spray
Redken Heat Glide (if you dont like a spray)
5. After staightening hair i like to use a serum to add a little more shine and softness.
Silk Therapy from Biosilk ( a little goes a long way)
Super Skinny from Paul Mitchell
I have huge puffy hair and i have found through trial and error that this helps my hair so much, so hopefully this can help you too:)

Products for Shine and softness
submitted by: Lilbit, Fri Jan 05 2007
5 of 7 people found this tip helpful.

I wanted to share my favorite products that I have used for many years. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy. I had 3-4 Japanese treatments within the first 4 years of me straigtening my hair, surprisingly there wasn't noticeable damage, yet it did take some time to get it out completely. About 2 years now I have the flat iron process down and opted to no longer do the thermals because the chemicals are harsh and I do want the flexibility of doing my hair curly whenever. I use the Paul Mitchell Skinny Shampoo and supercharged moisturizer daily because my hair is oily. When low on budget I use Garnier's Sleek shampoo and sometimes their sleek and shine conditioner which I do not recommend using daily because it will cause to much elasticity and break. It is great for giving it some extra moisture when needed.

After shampooing I live by Paul Mitchell's Skinny Serum, it leaves my course hair soft and shiny! I recently started using it along with Biosilk since I received it as a gift. My hair is amazingly soft and shiny everyday.

Though you will hear many say that using a flatiron is not good for your hair, I believe with the rights products you can protect it very well. You would never know by looking at my hair that my hair gets flat ironed everyday as their is no harsh damage.
