I have tried many different straighteners from mediokre to professional and this is the best one i have EVER used, indeed. Very happy about the product.

I have owned the Solia for a year and a half and it still works great. It has also taken quite a beatings, being dropped on the floor a few times and I use it everyday. I have a lot of hair and it is very long now, and I can assure you it takes me harldy any time at all to straighten, less than a half hour. It makes my hair really smoothe and does not create a lot of split ends on my dyed and dried hair. It was definately weird to use in the beginning but you get used to it. People do not believe me when I tell them that my hair is really frizzy and wavy naturally and everyone always asks me how I get my hair to look so healthy. I also like that it does not make it look flat. The CHI definately made my hair look really flat, dull, and created more split ends, so I definately reccommend the solia and it is great for the price!
Amazing Straightener!

I had to write another review on the Solia, since my first one was submitted almost 1 year-ago and I had just started using it. I love my Solia, the only downside, I should've gotten the 1-inch and 1/4 because I have really thick hair that's frizzy and curly with some wave and it takes me about an hour and a half to straighten, but when I'm done I love the results. Everytime I get my hair trimmed up the lady ALWAYS uses a Chi and I hate it, and it's horrible that an $85 dollar hair straightener is BETTER than a $100 dollar one. I use the whole Redken Smooth Down line and my Solia and my hair feels and looks salon perfect, without spending the $23 dollars it costs to trim. My hair is smooth, silky, straight and smells yummy.
PS: I've noticed some reviews say that there hair isn't getting that straight, look at your heat setting. I always set mine between 300-370 and once it was set to 300 and I didn't notice but when I started straightening it I noticed a major difference and that my hair wasn't getting straigh at all, the heat makes a difference.
Great Flat Iron

I decided to write a review...b/c I read so many reviews before I purchased this flat iron. I am very pleased. When I had my hair done recently the stylist used a CHI and I felt like he was burning my scalp off, trying to get my roots (b/c I am an African American woman going natural). So although he recommended the CHI I read the reviews and choose the Solia instead. I really feel like I am able to get my roots without burning my scalp, and it is very easy to handle. Left my hair straight and shiny. I am still interested in the Sedu though...just to see what its like, but apparently its sold out everywhere. But for those of you who are trying to make a choice between the Solia and the CHI, go with the Solia.

It worked fine...just didn't think it would last very long. Seemed poor quality. Return was very easy and processed fast though. Have a different one on it's way!
Very good iron - recommended highly for the price

This iron was recommended by someone at work who loved it. I had to replace a very nice ghd iron that I broke (boo hoo) and I couldn't justify paying that price right now. So I bought this and am very glad I did.
It works almost as well as the ghd and is about 1/2 or 1/3 the price. It is as fast to heat up as the ghd and has a much better cord swivel thingy (that's part of what broke on my ghd). The ghd often felt like it was twisting the cord around itself but I never have any cord tension with the Solia. It has more flexibility in terms of temperature than the ghd. I am very happy with this product.
The only ways it isn't as good as the ghd are that the plates extend right out to the edge of the housing so with this iron I get burned more often. The ghd has about 1/8" of the housing around the heated plated so if you bump your ear or neck you wont get a burn. The only other thing I find, and I don't understand why it happens, is that unlike when I used the ghd, I have to touch up my hair most mornings. I only wash my thin, fine and somewhat damaged hair every four or five days. With the ghd I never got "bed head" and could just comb my hair and add some spray each morning. With the Solia, most mornings I do have to fix little bendy bits that develop during the night. It only takes 2 minutes so no big deal.
All in all, a great buy. Easy to use and does everything it says. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a high quality iron at a very reasonable price.

I love my Solia. I used to use the Chi, but it was so fragile. It takes me less than 10 minutes to straighten my hair & I use it to curl too. My favorite feature is the blue heat plates. I would recommend it to anyone.

This worked much better than a $30 Revlon flat iron. Left my hair glossy and smooth. It seems to be a good value overall. Recommend a heat styling product to avoid split ends and damage, especially for fine hair.

I've had this flat iron for about a month now and it works great! It heats up quick, doesn't pull your hair, and gets your hair straight with only one or two passes. So far so good!!
Great when it actually works

I bought my 1 in. Solia about 8 months ago. I have absolutely loved using it. I have thick, dry, wavy/curly hair and after using this iron, my hair is always pin straight and super smooth. However, about a month ago, I went to turn it on and the light didn't come on, I was devastated! When I move the swivel cord and try to hold it in a certain position the light will come back on, but this definitely does not work for fully straightening my hair and it's been hard to get in contact with anyone about getting it fixed because it's definitely still under warranty.

I just got mine in the mail and I love it! I didn't think I'd get my ethnic black and asian hair this straight w/o going to the salon. My sister (chi owner) wants it as her next flat iron. It doesn't have that burnt hair smell like hers does. Worth every penny! The free mat/pouch makes it even better!

I was excited to buy a relatively expensive and well rated product, but when it came, I was very disappointed. It feels cheap and the worst thing was that the plates didn't even line up! There is about a 1/8 in gap in the back when it is closed!!! They brag about how it has this wonderful "technology" that insures the plates line up perfectly, but its just a joke. I wouldn't recommend this flat iron.

This iron is excellent for curling your hair!
Even though I don't flat iron my entire head, I like to use it for touch ups whenever I have sections of frizzy hair and to make soft shiny curls or flips. I like the convenient size of this flat iron and the fact that it doesn't dry out my hair. It has a wide range of temperature controls plus it doesn't get hot on the outside.

I got this flat iron about 3 weeks ago and every time I use it I love it more. I was looking at a CHI but I decided to go with this one because it has an adjustable temperature. I was very glad I got this one instead because I have fine hair and I can turn the heat down and it is still straightens the first time through. I know someone who got the CHI and it works great also but I did not like how hot my hair got. This one glides a lot easier over the hair. It would also be good for thick hair because the heat can be turned up. I have already recommended this to several people. It is worth the money!

I JUST RECEIVED MY SOLIA 1" FLAT IRONS YESTERDAY & I MUST SAY THESE ARE THE BEST IRONS I'VE EVER USED (AND I'VE TRIED MANY). I AM AFRICAN AMERICAN & MY HAIR IS VERY FRIZZY AFTER I WASH IT. I WASHED MY HAIR LAST NIGHT & USED THESE IRONS & MY HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL. THERE IS LITTLE TO NO FRIZZ & IT IS SHINY & VERY STRAIGHT WITHOUT USING ANY HAIR PRODUCT. I LOVE THESE IRONS & I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!
A great first experience

I'm almost 60 and had never used a flat-iron before. I have always just let my fine naturally curly hair do what it wanted. Now I'm ready for a new look. I'm pretty clumsy when it comes to doing my hair, so I was hesitant about getting this Solia iron. It turned out to be a great purchase. It's easy to use, and I love how my hair looks, it is glossy and very straight. Made me aware that I need a new haircut.
Worth every penny.

The Solia is a GREAT styling iron.. My hair is shoulder length and thick. I do have some problems straightening though since it is so thin. For straightening I would go with a larger iron, for flipping and curling this one is PERFECT!..
Love it!!

I had a Chi for about 4 years and it finally gave up the ghost (amazing, I know). My sister-in-law told me to get this one (well actually the pink one, but I like blue!). At first, I wasn't sure I liked it as well as my Chi, since it didn't seem to grip as well, but after I got use to that, I decided it worked as well and maybe even better than my Chi and it didn't snag my hair like the Chi did. I love this flat iron and really recommend it.
