Forget what people say this is the best Flat Iron for us black girls with super thick and curly or nappy hair.
This gives you results like a salon. The one this is be carfull this Flat Iron is hotter than most so ya. But it gets your hair "bone straight."

I have used several straighteners from cheap to professional and I wanted one somewhere in between in cost. I'm a natural blonde with partial highlights, the first time i used this I burned/sizzled and frizzed the finer hair around my face. I had it on 300 temp. max is 400. My hair was barely damp too, which I think did not help, even though this is why I bought this item for it's versatility. My cheaper Walmart straightener worked just fine and never burned my hair.
Works great!

Love it! Very light, compact, easy to use, and does not burn my hair. With a little practice, I learned how to get the "salon look". I highly reccomend this flat iron.

My daughters had both purchased the Solia Flat Iron in the past and I loved it. When my old one died, I didn't hesitate to purchase this flat iron. It gets hot, stays hot and works great on my curly hair.
Wonderful

Light weight, easy to use, and a great price! I only have partially wavy hair, but like to wear it straight and this flat iron makes that easy to do (on a very low heat setting). My hair looks shinier, too.

I got this straightener as a Christmas gift purchased from this website. When I got it up to about two months ago it worked really good! But two months ago it broke. Five months isn't a good enough amount of time for a straightener. I mean yes it is really good but for $85.00 it should have a longer life. I only had the normal wear and tear on it too. It only works now if I push the cord into the bottom until the red light turns on and hold it there until it heats up. (I have to repeat this everytime that it begins to cool down). I think that it would be better to get a different kind of straightener for your money.
I love it!!

I just got my solia and i love it. I am African American and i have hair that is a little past my shoulders. I also have a relaxer, but inbetween them, i need to straighten my hair. My other straighteners were ok. The solia, is great!!I recommend this to anyone. I looked into the sedu, and the chi also, and decided this one, after reading many reviews from all three. I dont even have to use it on the highest setting, and it gets my hair bone straight!!!

Everything is beautiful about this flat iron. I researched every possible flat iron at length, trying to find the best performance for the best value. After looking at CHI and others costing far over $100, and reading reviews about appliances breaking after only a short while, I really wanted a well-made product that would last. This one is incredibly easy to use, and does not fry the hair. The one-inch size is perfect for my almost shoulder-length hair. The self-aligning plates hold various thicknesses of hair without snagging or burning. I have fine, thick, frizz-prone hair, and I used the 300 degree setting for a perfect, silky look. I'm so thrilled to have the chic, shiny, fashion-model straight hair that I've never been able to have in my life! I recommend this flat iron to everyone. I love the elegant black and blue design, and the free pad/case is super. Get it while it's on sale for the best value ever, but get it even if it goes off sale--it's that great! Speedy, free shipping and prompt e-mail communication from this great company. Folica.com, you're the best!

Unfortunately I found this flat iron to fall flat. Maybe I don't have enough strength in my hands to close the iron properly, or maybe it's the "floating" plates that make this iron difficult to use. You really have to be able to squeeze the iron very tight.
really nice.. then not so nice

This flat iron worked really well on my hair that is wavy. I loved it and thought i made a great decision when i bought it. However, i have had it for about 8 months now, and it won't even turn on any more. The red light wont turn on and i have to fiddle with the cord for it to turn on for 3 seconds, then it shuts off. I'm not sure why it did this, but now i feel like it was a waste of my money, cuz i am back here shopping for a different flat iron.
It was great while it worked, always made my hair really soft and it kept my hair from being frizzy. Now i regret buying it because it couldn't work for even a year.
LoVe it!

My friend has a Solia and during a vacation together, I constantly chose to use her straightener over my grocery-store-bought Conair. As soon as I got home, I surfed the web for the best deals and folica.com was it. My hair has never straightened so fast and looked so smooth. I carry my free tote as a purse and get so many compliments on it. The free shipping was great and the heat mat has really been helpful. This straightener is the best I've ever had by far. I can flip my hair under, and even curl it. My boyfriend even comments on how much smoother and soft it is now. His direct quote, I swear, was "it's amazing that a straightener by itself can change your hair that much". It's a great product for a great price. I've recommended it to lots of people and I would recommend it to you.
Likes it....considerably!

When I first started straightening my hair I had a Vidal Sasoon gold plated flat iron...horrible. Than I upgraded to a Conair flat iron with the little comb attachment, that sucked, the coating on the plates flaked off. And before purchasing my Solia 1'inch flat iron I had a Remington Wet2Straight, it was ok, but still pulled my hair. My Solia is great, it makes my hair smooth and shiny and it feels silky, and it doesn't pull my hair. The only downside is I think I should have upgraded to a bigger plate size, I have really thick hair and have to get it thinned out once ever 2 months.
My hair does get straight with it but since I have thick hair I will have to set it to a high setting rather than 370. Overall I would recommend this straightener over any cheapo Wal-Mart/Target flat iron any day...but there are those few that do have potential. I was just tired of spending $30-50 dollars on a straightener and than have to also spend money on getting my split ends cut off every other week.
i love it!!

when i first went to buy my new straightener..i looked at this and the chi. i read the reviews for both and after asking around about the chi figured this would be the better buy..and im so glad i did..i heard the chi broke after a year or two and it is not worth the 120+ .. this straightens just as well..i love how you can change the temp. to fit your hair type..and i love the blue plates it makes it very unique..there is also a blinking light that lets you know when it has heated up to the temperature you wanted so you don't have to feel if its hot..so if your looking for a cheaper straightener that works just as great pick this one
Hotter than the Others!

I went for this model because the temperature setting goes higher(450 degrees) than a CHI(350-400 degrees). It works fabulous! Great at smoothing the hair and giving a silkiness to the hair. Heats up quickly, light in weight, easy to hold. Great for the Salon or home use.

I got this iron, and it is amazing. The instructions say that you can even iron your hair when it is damp. My sister put that to the test and she said her hair never looked better. This is the best iron i have ever owned, and anyone who reads this...dont waste your money on any other iron, THIS IS THE ONE!

I thought the solia was the best thing that ever happend to flat irons! But, I have had it for 2 years, and now it doesnt turn on...the same thing happend with a friend of mine after ONE year! It works GREAT when it turns on, but there is def something wrong with this product! I have read other reviews, and they also said they had the same problem! I'm really upset because I loved this iron! I think now ill invest a little more and buy a sedu...that wont break! =(
