Good, works well. Not as good as my GHD but was half the price! So if you want one that works well but doesn't cost a bucket load this is a good straightener.
So far so good!

I got my straightener a couple of weeks ago and so far it seems great, no complaints for regrets! I have a small baby so time is of the essence, I can have perfectly straight hair in just a few minutes. The service at folica.com was great!
Awesome x 3!!

I just purchased my 3rd Solia flat iron and love all of them. I bought the first over 1 year ago for my long, fine, mixed/ethnic hair. At that time I was fairly new to flat ironing, but knew the store brand was frying my hair and didn't used that (hot tools) very often. My 1st Solia was the 1.5 inch size; it just glided through my hair. It was shiny, smooth, and didn't appear over processed.
Then I bought the 3/4 inch for my oldest daughter who was going through the $50 irons every 7-8 months on her course, thick, relaxed and short mohawk. She also loved her new iron and has used it religiously for nearly 1 year. No problems and her hair looks healthier, even with relaxing every 4-6 weeks and a ton of styling products. She's very athletic, so she washes her hair more often, thus requiring quite a bit of heat and maintenance.
I cut my hair a couple of months ago, after moving to a humid location. I bought the 1 inch Solia and gave the big one to my youngest daughter who has baby fine curly hair. We all love our Solias! Our hair is smooth, shiny, and healthy looking. Three different types of hair, variety of styles and processing, and 3 wonderfully satisfied ladies!
Better than CHI/FHI

I've had this Solia for 2+ yrs now and really like it. I've had 2 CHIs and 2 FHIs in the past and I like this better than all except the first FHI I had which I stupidly gave to my daughter and when I tried to replace it, had to settle for a different version that wasn't as good. I love the Solia's pressure-sensitive plates that don't require a lot of squeezing to evenly maintain the pressure all the way down on my shoulder-length hair.
Bought May 2006 and still works great!

I am very pleased with this flat iron. The variable temperature control is a great feature. It heats up in seconds and does a great job on my frizzy hair.
LOVE IT!!

I got this straightner about 3 weeks ago and its everything I expected and more. I have the curliest hair you'll ever see and it straightens it right out, really fast! I now spend half the time it took my other straightner to do my hair. The only thing I would say is kinda bad about it is that it kinda leaves little hairs that stick up sometimes. They go away in a couple hours but yeah.. I recommend this straightner to ANYONE! Its a great bargin too at only 85 dollars. GET IT!

I had been looking for my own unique straightner that would give me that gorgeous straight-and-silky look. This did just the trick! All my friends were asking me where I found this wonderful tool. Folica.com is the site to go to if you're serious about taking good care of your hair. I would absolutely recommend this flat iron, it works wonders! And it heats up in less than 30 seconds (most of the time), which is great for giving your hair an instant touch of magic before you go. And it comes at an amazing price. What a deal! If you were hesitant before, this flat iron is the one for you!! ;)
This is my 1st flat iron purchase and I love it.

I initially used my cousin's flat iron which was the Chi. I thought it was good but after learning more about flat irons and particulary Solia I decided to purchase the Solia. I love it!! I really like how I can control the temperature and how easy it is to use. It can straighten and curl my naturally curly hair. The Solia works so well, my family and friends thought I was still going to the salon.
Not so effective

Considering the price and the great reviews, I expected more of this flat iron. It is not so effective, at least on my hair. I have fine, straightish (but frizzy) hair, that is not resistant. But the Solia doesn't straighten my hair as nearly as smoothly as my cheap Conair iron. And the flips do not last 30 minutes, even with hairspray. It is perhaps less damaging, and it does smooth to some extent. But I certainly can't get that shiny, smooth, straight look with it. I'm definitely disappointed.
Great product!!!

I absoultly love my hair straightner. It makes my hair feel soft and it always looks so straight. One thing i don't like about it is that when i wash my hair then blow dry it and then straighten it it looks firzzy but other than that it is one of the best purchases i have ever made. I also got the free tote bag and i love that to i brought it to the movies with a bag of popcorn in it because i didnt want to waste my money on gross movie theater popcorn. I love my hair straightner!!!!
wonderful

I spent a lot of time deciding between the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion flat iron and a CHI. I wanted the CHI because of brand recognition, but I am so happy I choose the Solia instead. The adjustable temp. is what sold me. I can not describe the smoothness this iron has or how non drying on the hair it is. I definitely made the right choice.
does the job

It worked wonderfully for a few months...then the plates melted off. Now my hair gets stuck where the plates are loose and it rips my hair out.
I'm buying a Chi.
BETTER THAN THE REST!

I bought this same Solia model (almost to the date) 3 years ago. I have had great success with this tool! It has traveled with me everywhere. I have dropped it no less than 20 times and even left it on for 12 hours at a time unintentionally. The heat performance has not decreased a bit! I have found myself back on this website because that bad to the bone machine finally bit the dust but it was only after dropping on the ceramic tile and one of the plates came loose. It is still working but the loose plate pulls my hair.
I have a friend who swore to CHI until I bought this product. Now when we go on trips she never even packs hers and when someone wants to borrow a straightening iron she always directs them to me telling them mine works best. I think it's the fact that the plates move with your hair, not causing creases or lines. I LOVE IT!
I have straight hair but is not smooth. It always dries lumpy. This straightener has always proven itself. It's only $85!!! Well worth the purchase. I recommended it to my boss and she bought it! I highly recommend this product!
Smooth hair!

This really smoothed out my hair and pulls much less than my last flat iron (still pulls a little). It's easy to twist this/use it as a styling tool so hair still has volume instead of being stick straight. Lasts for several days. I have wavy/puffy hair and keep the temp set at 370.
AWSOME

This is the best Flat Iron in the world. This is the kind of flat iron for black people's hair wheather it be nappy of very thick curly and knotty.
For get chi and all the other stuff this right here is the bomb no doubt

The straightener itself works pretty good - although I found that I had to re-do several times if I wanted to keep the straightness in my hair. I sort of wish I bought the next size up, but oh well. Also, when using it, the wire part that is connected at the end squeaks when it turns which is VERY annoying. Overall pretty good, best I've come across in this price range.
LOVE IT!!!

I love this straightner!! I can flip my hair out and if I decide I don't like how it looks I can change it. I've never had a straightner that could do that. It straightens my hair so perfectly! I can pretty much do anything with this product!!
