Quality iron, great for first-timer

So when I was looking to purchase an iron, I had never straightened my own hair before. Some guy in the mall was trying to sell me an iron for $200 and he was doing a demo and I really liked how well it straightened my naturally curly hair. However, I was not interested in paying that much for an iron I didn't know how to use and didn't think I would use much besides on special occasions. So after reading reviews on lots of products, I decided that the Solia was a good buy. Let me tell you, it is one of the best decisions I ever made!!! I love this iron and I use it way more often than I ever thought I would. Its easy to use and makes my hair look fantastic. I get so many compliments on how smooth and healthy it looks.
If you're looking for a great iron at a reasonable price, this is the one for you.

It worked great for about 3 months then completely stopped working! I was much happier with my CHI, and wish that I had paid a little bit more to get another one!
I've owned FOUR faulty Solia flat irons, and I'm done.

This is the fourth, yes, the FOURTH Solia flat iron I have owned, and while I agree that it does straighten hair extremely well, it is not a good long-term purchase. Of the four Solia flat irons I have owned, not one has lasted over one year. I continued purchasing them because Folica has a great replacement policy, but I'm definitely done with this flat iron at this point. In fact, I'm going to look for a new one (a different brand, of course) as soon as I'm finished writing this review.
The same thing happened to the flat iron every time - something would happen with the cord, and it simply wouldn't turn on after a while. Sometimes it would come back on if I wiggled the cord, but it eventually just died out. This happened to all four of the Solia flat irons I have owned, which is quite disappointing because I take very good care of my equipment.
My advice: If you're going to use this occasionally, I'm sure it would work fine and you might be able to get more than a year out of it. But if you like to flat iron your hair a couple times a week, this probably isn't your best bet unless you want to contact Folica and pay a replacement fee every time the cord malfunctions.
Afro-american Hair Excellent

I have two afro-american teenage girls whose hair is long, thick and curly. I have tried gold N hot flat iron and they snagged and were not worth the money. I heard a lot about CHI flat irons, but once I did the research found out that they had electrical problems. I FINALLY found my HAIR MIRACLE THE Solia 1" flat iron. Definitely recommend this product. It does not snag the hair, straigthens the hair smoothly, can get close to the shaft/root of the hair and a lot of heat is not needed. I would recommend this product to ANYONE!. VERY PLEASED AND WORTH THE MONEY. Thanks again SOLIA for a great product.
Not as good as I'd hoped

I bought this when my Sedu finally kicked the bucket. I had high hopes based on the review, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I'm returning it, spending the extra $40 and getting another Sedu. Those are awesome!
Researched it, Bought it, and LOVED it

The iron works great, gets my hair beautifully shiny. I normally would spray CHI Shine spray afterwards on my hair to finish the look but with this great iron I dont even need to. Its a really great and cheap iron. It can def hold its own with the big boys without the large price tag. I had a paul mitchell iron and loved it but it broke...wouldn't turn on anymore. Really bothered me since it was expensive. So I didnt want to go with another Paul Mitchell, and heard the CHI irons burn out as well after some time. So I spent time researching different irons and discovered this product after reviewing MANY GREAT reviews.
I'm mixed, my hair has nice loose curls, my hair is thick and down to the middle of my back. This iron gave me FABULOUS shine without any sheen spray and worked as well as my Paul Mitchell.
ALSO, want to say how GREAT this folica.com site is to order off of. My product came ASAP. It was AMAZING, great site and I just wanted to COMEND this site for the speedy delivery!!
Like no other :)

okay I was so scared to order A DIFFERENT flat iron. I've been buying the CHI flat iron for about 5-6 years. I think i bought at least 5 of them in that period of time. They seem to not work after a year(like it would not turn on , the plates would fall out, or it would just not turn on unless you moved the cord a certain way). SO anyway i spent hours reading reviews, so it was the SEDU or the SOLIA ... ive seen the before and after pictures with the solia, and i thought THIS IS THE ONE. so i just got mine in today. the first thing i wanted to know is if it would snagg or pull on my hair. and it didnt! and i noticed that it doesnt cause that much damamging like the chi did. i highly recommend this product.

this is a really good straightner. before i had my old poopy revlon crap. that pulled my hair and made it more damaged and frizzy. this makes it soft shiny and smooth! i have sholder length chlorine damaged hair thats afro like because i swim for 2 hours a day 6 days a week. this really does the job. amazing...

I actually bought this 1 inch solia flat iron about 2 1/2 - 3 yrs ago. It just stopped working a few days ago. I'm surprised it lasted so long considering I've used it 4-5 days out of the week & dropped it a few times on accident. I have to admit, I was skeptical about spending so much on my first flat iron. I'm glad I didn't settle for a cheap one. This was totally worth it! It was easy to use, heated up quickly & evenly, and it didn't snag my hair. I've rarely used my curing iron since I bought it because it can curl, flip, & straighten hair.
i really like it

i got this straightner about 3 months ago and i love it. my other straightner always cought my hair in the edges and pulled it but this one never does no matter how aquardly im turning it or moving it. ive droped it on tile like 4 times and it hasent broken it still works perfectly and it heats up in about 30 or 40 seconds which most straightners take at least 30 even if they say instatly but i think its really worth tha money if you use it on a daily basis
Getting tired of it...

I've had my Solia for a little over 1-year and I'm getting tired of it. My hair isn't getting as straight, it's either 1)my flat iron isn't heating up as well or b)my hair is getting adjusted to the flat iron(that seems silly though). Also, I clean my straightener plates after every use and store it properly and it's never been dropped and I can see silver through the blue coating, also I think the consumers lied about this flat iron, it says 'Tourmaline Ceramic', it should say 'Coated with Tourmaline and Ceramic', because if it was true ceramic, the coating wouldn't be coming off. It's a decent straightener but pretty soon I think I'll spend a bit more and go with the Sedu '08 Revolution. It's good while it lasted and it will be a great backup flat iron or a travel one, but I'm just not crazy about it anymore and I'm not getting silky smooth results like I use to.

I have had this straightner for about 6 months now and I absolutely do not a one complaint. I have used drugstore brands before and they all fried my hair and left part of my hair unstraightened. This flat iron really does leave your hair softer. Once you use it, if you will put some flyaway creme to maintain hair you will be set. A word of caution, it heats up quickly and gets hot. I have left it plugged in and sitting on my bathroom counter for several hours, only because I forgot and it did not melt or hurt the countertop. Best money I have spent in a long time!!
Did the research...Perfect Flat iron!

I had previously owned a cheap straightener and decided it was time to upgrade. So, I spent a lot of time reading and researching online and eventually had it narrowed down to the Sedu and the Solia models. What sold me on the Solia was the wider temperature range and the price. I am willing to spend the extra money to get a better product, but from what I read and saw there really isn't much of a difference between the two. The Solia is great and I strongly recommend it!

I love this Flat iron!!!!My Sister also has the same one which she has had for AT LEAST 3 YEARS!So after I've used herd several times i thought i would buy it. It was deffanetly an upgrade from my pink cortex flat iron, which I was scammed into buying at the mall. I really like how you adjust the temperature. Also you can curl your hair. The plates move with your hair. It leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and healthy. Like my sisters I expected it to last a long time.

I have been on the prowl for another flat iron, but was unsure what to get. My old one just wasn't working in the fact that I had to keep ironing the same section of hair at least 3 times. I live in south FL where the humidity is almost always 100%. I took my chances on the Solia after reading all the reviews. It came in the mail within 5 days. I couldn't be happier with it. It puts my old iron to shame. It just takes one swipe with each section and your hair is done. I have thick, course hair. My hair feels so smooth and it's much shinier too. It was money well spent.

I have owned several brands of flat irons including a Chi. I was always under the impression Chi was the best. WRONG! I have very fine hair and needed a flat iron with adjustable termperatures. I decided to try the Solia and found event on the lower temperature it did the job. It also made my hair shiny, I didn't get this with any other product.
Folia.com is a great website and I will definitely buy from them again.

I bought this flat iron and it did nothing to my hair. I have slightly thick wavy frizzy hair at my shoulders, and it still looked frizzy and wavy after I used it for an hour. My hair was very poofy and it looked and felt horrible after using it. My $25 revlon flat iron was a milion times better than this, but it just burned out after 4 years. It is also very heavy. Beware this product sucks.
