Product Rating: 5 Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1") Review
Reviewer: Beth from Arcadia, California  Sat Feb 02 2008

This flat iron is great!! I did quite a bit of research before buying this one and was frustrated because some flat irons seemed so expensive. So I asked my hairdresser and he said don't be fooled by the high priced irons. Make sure that it has a temperature control that goes up to 400, that it is ceramic and that it is tourmaline. Because my hair is short he said I should be able to get a really good iron for under 100. Also he said the Chi are good except that they are not tourmaline and that is important because it helps to keep the heat even throughout the iron and onto your hair.
Anyway, I bought this iron, I have used it everyday for the last 2 months and I have no complaints, I absolutley love it!!

As a hair stylist, this product is just alright. I was a bit disappointed. It dries out your hair after several days of use even with a straight iron product. Be careful if your hair is not in great shape.

This wonderful device literally arrived at my doorstop in what seemed like minutes, it heats up almost instantly, and personally, I think I can do my hair better than my stylist at this point!! I bought the Solia the day I got my hair cut short into the "Victoria Beckham" haircut about 2 months ago. I have very very thick and curly/wavy hair, typically too difficult to bother straightening... I've straightened my hair at least 6 days out of every week since I got this! You wont regret it.

I got this for my 13 y/o daughter for Christmas. It is the best gift ever...for her and me. It gets hot instantly and you can set how hot you want it. For the money I would say it is well worth it.

now i know what it's like to use a real flat iron!!!! i never used flat irons much, but when i did it was a drugstore brand and i alwys thought it did nothing to my hair! well now that's a different story!! i got great results. it heats up in seconds and takes me about 5 minutes to do my hair. my hair is about shoulder length (a bit shorter) and pretty straight to begin with, but has crazy little waves here and there! its rebellious! and the iron does the job. and i might also add that i'm not one to fuss with my hair too much, so i could probably get it to look alot nicer. but even my quick way gives me great results! i contemplated on which size to get and am happy with this 1 inch. i think it's pretty versatile. however, i don't like using it on my damp hair even though it says you can. makes a sound like it sizzling my hair. don't like that. but overall i'm very happy and glad i investing in a great flat iron!

Product Rating: 4 Good on short hair only.
Reviewer: Kira   Tue Jan 29 2008

I purchased the 1" Solia straigtening iron thinking it would help style my long hair easier than a 1.5" barrel. But, it doesn't do the straightening or curling well at all on longer hair. My hair length is about to my chest and the 1" can only straighten the top part of my head and the bottom remains curly and not styled.
I however gave this to my brother who has short/medium length guy hair and it works REALLY well on his hair. So I definitely recommend this product to people with short hair or to guys who actually style their hair.

NOT good with long or shoulder length hair, but works great to style/curl short hair.

Overall, not a bad product. Easy to use for basic styling, but not great for really wanting to straighten or curl your hair compared to other straightening irons.

I personally like the CHI and the KAI. I have both of those and they work great on my hair. Better than the Solia.

i got this straightener for my sister as a Christmas present because the straightener she had was literally frying her hair. since she began using her new folica one her hair is in much better condition and is very shiny.

It was too expensive: $85. Other than that, it straightens the hair, leaving it shiny, does not snag my hair at the ends. I have been using it daily for a few months, and it works as if it's brand new.

This flat iron is really good. I had it since November 2007 and I still love it! You can use it for curling your hair too.

Product Rating: 4 could be me, but straightness doesn't last
Reviewer: Gail   Sat Jan 26 2008

This is my first flat iron; I had been using a curling iron to achieve a similar effect. My hair is thin with natural body-not curly- and I get good initial results with the Solia. Too bad the look doesn't last. I've tried it with a variety of styling products as well as on bare hair, and my hair reverts back to it's usual look after just a couple of hours. Because of the burnt hair smell, I don't want to go any higher in temperature (using 260 deg)so all in all I could have saved money by sticking with running the large barrel curling iron down my hair.

I have straight hair with a slight wave so I did not want anything super high-end nor did I want a drugstore iron and this fits my needs. It heats up fast and does not damage my hair. I do not have lots of time and with a couple of swipes it makes my hair look neat and polished.

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, her old iron made her hair static and she asked for a new one which was like her friend had. I could not find that exact one and decided on this iron because of the customer reviews. She absolutely loves it. No static and her hair is very soft when she uses it and she says it is easy to use. She is so pleased and so am I.

This flat iron is absolutely great. I havent permed my hair in about 7 months and i have very thick curly hair... and this flat iron gets it bone straight without even heating it up past 370 degrees. I would recommend this flat iron to anyone.

Reviewer: Stacey from Los Angeles, Ca  Wed Jan 16 2008

This is the best flat iron I have ever used. Even better then Chi! It makes my hair super straight & shiny and works so fast. I only have to go over my curly/frizzy hair once to get perfect results. Also, I can go out in the rain and it stays perfectly straight (no hairspray).

Product Rating: 3 No better than cheap ones
Reviewer: Amy from New York  Mon Jan 14 2008

I bought this since it was pricey and had great reviews - thought it would be good. It was no better than the $20 iron (same size) that I have had for 3 years. I ended up returning it. The girls in these pictures must spend HOURS straightening their hair....sorry but I don't want to use up 3 hours of my day on my hair!

Product Rating: 4 *****I TRIED BOTH SEDU AND SOLIA**********
Reviewer: M.V. from chi town  Tue Jan 01 2008

so i bought this solia a while ago.. and totally loved it and used it everyday for a week...yea im the kind of person who gets REALLY lazy about straightening my hair ESPECIALLY if it takes a while...(also.. i have the werid thick hair.. from my mom whoes white and has dark brown thick hair and my dad whoes asian with black hair..and for who ever says black is not a hair color.. i think it is b/c my dads hair is like twice the size of my moms and so i have some back hairs which are thicker than my brown/light brown hair.. and i have natural blondish gold highlights... so i mean my hair is uck lol... as in i cant leave it down nor blow dry it because it will become HUGE AND FRIZZY lookin.. so i have to straighten it cause also oddly my hair wont scrunch which sucks lol) but yea i got the soila and loved it and straightend my hair in 15 min and i have like 3 inches of hair past my shoulders... so yea.. yes i was amazed at how fast it took me.... but my hair was already dry so it was easy and fast.. so i used it and it was alright.. i stopped after a while cause i was lazy...then my sister came home from college and at first when i helped her straighten her hair..or just the back with her straightener i didnt like it at all...but one day i couldnt find my straightener and i wanted to straighten my hair... all i could find was my sisters.. so i used it..the sedu... i was actually shocked and really liked it... it made my hair seem even more silky than the soila.. and more down.. as in not as big... and faster.. but my sister did have a wider sedu ..like the plat than my solia which was like a 1in stick .. but i also noticed how the plates where different... basically i thought the soila's plats looked like all the other plats on cheaper straighteners..which i have used before...and the sedu plats are very shinny and smooth lookin kinda like shiny metal but the color back... but yea if i could return my soila for a sedu like my sisters.. i would.. but i still am happy with my solia.. i just think sedu does a better and faster job without haveing to go over your hair like 4 times....so sry for who like the solia more.. but HONESTLY ... go for the thicker sedu like my sisters.. its about 2 inches wide and 2 and a 1/2 inches long? .. its werid lookin..and very thin but good...

p.s. the solia i have,, you are able to curl your hair.. but its not good.. and you have to experiment... and it takes a while to get the curl out so you'd have to wet your hair then straighten over it.... so curling as in... if you try to curl what i had to do was wrap my hair and twist as i took the iron out... it only worked a couple times...so... you'd be better off with a regular curling iron.. i personally think...but yea lol i hope this review helped alot of people

Product Rating: 5 BEST IRON FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN HAIR!
Reviewer: Elizabeth from Kansas City, MO  Fri Dec 21 2007

This iron definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm the biggest skeptic in the world , so I didn't really expect this iron to be better than the professional ones that I've used in the past, but, boy was I wrong. This product surpasses them all. It leaves my hair unbelievably moisturized, silky, and 100% frizz free. I use it with Fantasia IC Heat Protectant Serum and my hair looks like I just stepped out of the salon. For the price, you can't beat. Oh, and I should add: I purchased a certain ceramic iron that was $200 and it pales in comparison to this product.

Product Rating: 5 Best Product Ever!!!
Reviewer: Kiru from Scarborough, Ontario  Sat Dec 08 2007

At first I was very skeptical about buying this straightener, because I've bought one in the past at a store in Toronto and it wasn't even worth all that money. I bought this straightener and who ever came up with this product was a genius. It actually works so good, and it makes my hair shiny and soft. I also use another product with my hair straightener it's an anti frizz serum which I also bought online. But overall it's a really good product, and if you have thin hair buy the 1" Solia it's good =).
