Product Rating: 1 what a waste of money
Reviewer: disappointed!!! from TX  Wed Jul 29 2009

After 4 years of owning a chi (the same chi for four years) i decided to get a new iron and after reading all the reviews i was convinced that the solia would be the next iron for me. Boy was i wrong! i've had this iron for a week hoping that perhaps i was just using it wrong but no way! the solia works just as well as a 9.99 iron from wal-mart so disappointing! If anyone is still going to go on a buy this iron despite my poor rating make sure that when you get the iron to save the box and whatever else is necessary to return this thing.

Product Rating: 5 great! definitely recommend!

i just replaced my chi with this solia, and i love it! the adjustable heat settings, the tilting plates, and the tangle-free chord are all great. i never had a problem with my chi, but i am glad i replaced it with a solia (a hot pink one, actually!)

Product Rating: 4 Great iron
Reviewer: Dana from Brentwood, TN  Thu Jul 16 2009

I ordered this flat iron from folica 3 or 4 years ago, and it has been great! I love the ability to change the temperature of the iron, which is something irons like the Chi do not allow you to do! My hair is pretty wavy and frizzy normally; this straightens that with no problem. I've had zero problems with this flat iron and love it a lot!

Product Rating: 5 I am in love with this straightener.
Reviewer: Stefanie from Birmingham, Alabama  Wed Jul 01 2009

I have had this straightener for 10 months now. I love it. It makes my hair really smooth and straight. I used to spend about an hour straightening my hair everyday, but now it takes around 20 minutes. I have really thick hair, so it's great that it goes up to 450 degrees. My hair stays straight even in the humid Alabama air. I love this product and would definitely recommend it.

The Solia flat is a very good flat iron. I ordered mine, and three days later I received. Folica has really good services!!!!

This flat iron is amazing! It just glides between your hair and gives you pin straight hair! i love it! I went from a drug store flat iron to this and this is just amazing! it is definately worth it to buy this!

Product Rating: 3 I need to go over twice to make it straight
Reviewer: Maggie from Chicago  Sat Jun 20 2009

My sedu broke down after 2 years so I purchased this one to try out. I didn't like it. I have long hair so took going over hair twice to compeltely flatten. Took longer than my sedu. Took it back an reordered my sedu again.

Product Rating: 5 Awesome

I have had this straightener a week now, and I think it is safe enough to say that this straightener is awesome. I had a drug store straightener that straightened my hair, but it wasn't this silky and it was still kind of poofy, and it never stayed straight (I have very wavy fine hair but I have A LOT of it.) It takes me about 20 minutes to straighten my hair with the Solia. I will never go back to the cheapo straighteners now. This flat iron might not be for everyone, but it makes my life so much easier. I also like the heat pouch because I can let the Solia heat up in the heat pouch and not have to worry about having something catch on fire. I can also store my Solia in it and it helps with traveling.

Product Rating: 4 Good, until it broke!

I had this straightner a little less than a year, but then it broke. It just wouldn't turn on randomly one day.It was a very decent straightner.I say it'd be right under a CHI.Not exactly the same, but very close. The first time I used it my friend and I could notice a difference. It left my hair smooth, well conditioned and silky. My natural hair is very poofy and frizzy.Like I said it was good until it broke!!

I have tried Chi on my hair (ethnic, coarse and relaxed) and I did like it, but couldn't see me buying it for over $100 so.. I tried this and I love it. It heats up in like 30 seconds and leaves my hair so shiny and smooth. It makes it look and feel better than the Chi, IMHO. Worth the $80 and folica customer service was so kind and polite. It heats up to over 400 degrees but with a relaxer I only use it on about 300. I love it!!!!!

Product Rating: 2 I was disappointed

I was disappointed, I don't think this heated as well, despite the temperature gauge, so my hair wasn't as straight ans silky. I am going back to my Chi!!

Product Rating: 1 Do NOT waste your money
Reviewer: Amelia from Epping, NH  Tue Jun 09 2009

I owned a Sedu before this straightner and it broke after 3 years so I decided to try this Solia.. It is awful. The straightner snags your hair and damages it. I use straightening protection by John Freida and that worked well with the Sedu, also my hair doesnt damage easily and my hair dresser noticed the ends were bad. Do not buy this, you're better off with something from walmart.

Product Rating: 2 so-so first flat iron
Reviewer: alice from california  Sat May 23 2009

i liked this until i got a chi. this feels cheap, is awkward to hold and use by comparison. the highest heat setting (495) doesn't straighten as well as the top setting on the chi which is about 360 degrees. wish i tried the chi during the return period for this one.

Product Rating: 2 Not the best
Reviewer: Jen from Oklahoma   Mon May 18 2009

I just ordered a 1 1/4" flat iron the pink one because my old one went out. So I thought that I would try the one from Folica. The first day I got it didn't work so well so I gave it another try and this time let it warm longer it still didn't work that well on my hair. So, after the third day I tried it again and let it warm up long it did nothing to my hair. I returned it and got my money back it sucked it's not worth the $80.

Product Rating: 5 LOVE IT!

I purchased this wonderful flat iron for my daughter...she has used many that just didn't hold up long and damaged her hair. I did researh on the web looking for a good one to purchase for her.
I chose this one over the Chi because it has temp controls...and it has done wonderfully. You can tell the first time that you use it that it is sooo much better than one you would purchase at Walmart or the drug store. (although some are better than others at these stores as well and lets face it sometimes that is what we can afford at the time) I splurged on this for my daughter and it is worth every penney. It isn't as expensive as some of the other professional models but more than let's say a Revlon or Conair...etc. Five Stars!

Product Rating: 5 I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reviewer: susan speil   Mon May 11 2009

This product is amazing! It works perfect with my hair (medium thick and curlyish wavy). it does wonders to my hair without drying it out. it's comfortable to use - no snagging etc. it's also easy to style with. i HIGHLY recommend this product to everyone!

Product Rating: 5 The BEST flat iron ever!
Reviewer: Amara from Los Angeles, CA  Sun May 03 2009

This was the first "expensive" flat iron I ever purchased and I must say this is my first and true love!
It made my thick frizzy curly hair flawlessly straight!
There is not one thing that I can complain about this flat iron.
It left my hair soft and straight even in humidity.
All of my friends would just look at me and say "How does your hair do that?" and I would just say "It's my flat iron."
My hair actually felt a lot more healthy with the use of this flat iron and at a point I used it everyday!
My Solia did end up dying and I replaced it with a Sedu because of all the hype but I must say that the Solia is WAY better!
It's cheaper and I like the texture it gives my hair more!
When my Sedu stops working I will definitely be getting a Solia again!

Product Rating: 4 Overall very good flat iron for my hair
Reviewer: Allison Ramos from Staten Island  Mon Apr 27 2009

I love / like this flat iron. You see I used to have a crutty old Conair falt iron for like $15.00.It never work , it has very low voltage and it keeps snagging and pulling my hair. After ,it was done my whole hair looked like a poof ball.I,ve been looking at Folica.com for quiet a while and I kept telling my mom to buy a falt iron here. She wasn,t so sure. At first my mom wanted to buy the Sedu but not on Folica at the mall but didn,t work out that well. So recently at my aunt Sandra's house my cousin Lesile had a Solia falt iron that she got at Folica. She tried it on my hair and it look awsome. I LOVE IT!!!! . When my mom saw it she loved it so she was like what the heck let,s get it. So my mom bought .Now here is the part when I only like the flat iron .After i was done with it it look like it had a teeny bit volume , and it took much longer to flat it then i did in my aunts. No complaing. It still did make my hair very straight and silky. I think the key to my problem is to use better hair products , or a better shampoo and conidtor. Herbal Essences hydration shampoo & condtionor works good with my hair. I am going to use it.Overall I am happy with my results but a teeny bit ok. i am glad that I bought it.=)

Product Rating: 5 Perfect

This is my first and probably, only, flat iron I've owned. It's just amazing. It heats up I swear within 30 seconds, to the full heat. I love being able to choose what temperature I want it at, and how it tells me when it's ready. It's actually pretty durable, having dropped it a few times and seeing no damage or change. It doesn't damage hair at all, and is just perfect in all regards. I love it!

Product Rating: 2 Not so good for fine hair
Reviewer: Anyhoo from MS  Sat Apr 04 2009

After 4 yrs of use, my Chi iron died, so I was on the hunt for another flat iron. After reading all the positive reviews about the Solia, I was sold. It took 11 long days to receive it! I have long, fine hair and the first day I used it, I liked it and received compliments. Now, after a week of use, I have really bad split ends and breakage. I am using it on the 390*, which is probably too hot for fine hair, but I have to turn it up that high to get it really straight. I also use heat protector, but it is still doing damage. Also, being the picky person that I am.... when I first opened it up, I held it to a light to see if the ceramic plates pressed perfectly together, they did not. I saw light in the small gaps, which leads me to think that this is not a high quality made product.

I'm in the process of looking now for a higher quality flat iron that will not do the damage like the Solia.
