Product Rating: 5 10 years of using several kinds of flat irons!
Reviewer: Sara from CA  Wed Jul 02 2008

I have used so many different kinds of flat irons over the years and this one has definitely been the best. This flat iron does not snag my hair at all, glides on smooth, heats up fast and very light weight. My hair is very thick and coarse with waves so you can only imagine the trouble I have to go through to keep it from being that way. I live in a fairly humid area so my hair can get frizzy once there is moisture in the air, but since using Solia Flat Iron my hair has not frizzed up at all! I definitely recommend this flat iron.

I liked some things about this iron, and I didn't like some things. I have had the 1 1/2 inch Sedu for about 6 months. I wanted to make curls and flips with it, but the wide plates didn't allow me to do that. I had the choice between the Solia 1 inch, and the Sedu 1 inch. I thought long and hard. I decided to take the chance and get the Solia, and if I didn't like it, I'd send it back for a Sedu. Well, here are my thought on this product.

Pros:

I loved the nice, simple, sleek design.
Straightened okay.
Had ajustable tempatures.

Cons:

The plates don't meet up all the way.
Snags and pulls hair.
Plates have the texture of a refrigerator that you find it a trailer home.
Took a long time to straighten.

If the Solia's plates met evenly and had the texture of the Sedu, then it would be perfect. I really loved the design. I know I already said that but I really did. I had high hopes with this iron, and it didn't meet my expectations. I am very disappointed. Back to the best, Sedu.

Reviewer: meg from chicago, il  Fri Jun 13 2008

alright. first off, i am a hair stylist so finding something of good quality to use on myself or clients is very important. i wanted a new flat iron and despite the fact that i have never heard of this brand, i bought a solia b/c it was affordable and it was very highly ranked. i felt that it didn't work any better than a drug store flat iron and that it made my hair look dull and unhealthy. i sent it back the other day. HOWEVER, i asked a co-worker of mine, what he recommended and he said in his opinion, the ghd irons are the best even though they are very expensive. i looked up the ghd pink styler on here and figured i'd go out and purchase one for cheaper at a professional shop. it was WAY worth the money! im gonna leave a review on that one now so buy it!

Product Rating: 4 like it!!??.................. but it breaks!
Reviewer: anonymous   Fri Jun 13 2008

Love the way it straightens and it is really easy to use. I liked it so much I bought 3 for my friends but in the last year I have had to replace all 3. It will suddenly shut off and not come on again. It does have a 2 year warranty(maybe thats why they offer it). You have to pay 9.95 for them to ship back to you. I feel that is unfair to the customer to pay to ship it back to them for a problem they are aware of and then pay an additional 9.95 for them to ship it back to us.

Product Rating: 5 A GREAT Flat Iron!
Reviewer: CK from Humid Florida  Tue Jun 03 2008

After much research I chose the 1" Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron and I made the right choice! This iron heats quickly and has adjustable temperatures. I have found that using the highest setting seems to work the best -- one pass and done! I am not going over and over the same spot so my hair isn't damaged by the iron. My hair is thick and wavy and I iron small manageable sections and quickly get the desired result with this iron. Even in the humidity of South Florida, my hair stays straight and shiny for days. It is worth every penny!

After about 1 year of using my conair flat iron I started to notice that hair was extremly damaged. It was frizzy and had split ends even after straighting. I was between solia and the chi, but there were too many things I didnt like about the chi. The chi had no ajustable temp., burns hair, weighs 1lb more than the soila, theres no tormaline in the chi's plates, and I couldn't find much info on the chi's warrenty. After getting the solia Ive noticed my hair seems much more healthy. I don't have to put any product in my hair to get rid of frizz because there hardly is any. My hair is shiny and not dry at all. The ends of my hair look much better. I defanitly recommend the solia!

Works okay, its snags a little because the plates don't match up that great. It does heat up really quick though.

Product Rating: 5 Fast, Efficient, and Durable
Reviewer: Mare from Washington, DC  Mon May 12 2008

I've really enjoyed the Solia. In the past, I used a CHI, but after three of them broke, usually by the plates coming loose, I thought I'd try something new. The Solia is lightweight, reaches a higher temperature than the CHI (not necessarily needed, but nice to have), and has stood up to wear-and-tear through the four months I've been using it. My hair hardly needs retouching after running the Solia over it once (twice at the most). It's also small enough to flip the ends or create curls if needed. I definitely recommend the Solia - the price on Folica is also unbeatable!

Product Rating: 5 Love this Iron
Reviewer: B. Piper from Ontario, Canada  Thu May 08 2008

Got my iron in about 3 buisness days, in Canada! Great communication by Folica, fast shipping! Iron arrived by UPS, immediately tried it out. Loved the design & lightweightness of the unit, easy to read temperature dial, adjustable heat settings. Heats up instantly, glides through hair perfectly, no snagging or pulling! Really loved the self adjusting plates, puts perfect pressure on hair! Love that it came with a heat resistant pouch! Great unit for a great price! Had a hotsyler that I paid MORE for and love this Solia 1" way more. Excellent deal, really like this flat iron so far. Would buy another one again. My naturally curly hair looks great, really flat & shiny! Very happy, with this product!!!! Thanks Folica!

Product Rating: 4 Heats up quickly, does a great job on my thick, wavy hair.
Reviewer: Amanda Musson from Marietta, GA  Thu May 01 2008

Does a great job. Heats up in seconds and flattens and shines my thick, wavy hair nicely. I went with a lightweight iron but maybe would've done well with a little heavier iron that was more solid? But really no complaints. Great value for the money.

Product Rating: 2 the plates did not close enought to keep hair in iron for straightening.
Reviewer: Kim Aspley   Mon Apr 28 2008

for the price, i was very disapointed. i could have gotten one as good or better at the drugstore

Reviewer: Lauren from NY  Sun Apr 27 2008

I wanted to buy a quality flat iron for less than $100 so I did a lot of research in order to find the best value and this product kept showing up. The first time I used this flat iron the light seemed to not be working right and part of the hinge was loose/broken so I was pretty disappointed, BUT when I called folica they made an exchange free, fast and easy. Great customer service and my new product has worked well so far. A great company to work with and no worries about being stuck with a defective product!

Product Rating: 5 AWESOME!
Reviewer: Megan from Arizona  Sat Apr 26 2008

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing a straightener and after reading reviews I decided to go ahead with this straightener and I am SO glad that I did! This is by far the best straightener I have ever had and it is well worth the money. Before I always bought the straighteners that were $30.00, but I am so glad that I spent the extra money on this product because it is by far the best straightener I have ever used! It also does not pull out my hair like other ones do, which I found to be the biggest problem for me! Before it took me 10-15 minutes to straighten my hair now it only takes 5 minutes at the most! Purchase this ASAP!!!!!

I wanted to buy a good flat iorn, but I couldnt decied b/w the Solia and Sedu. I ended up getting the Solia and I am very happy with my choice. It gets hot really fast and it stays hot the entire time. It gets really close to my roots (im AA so that is a must). I would recommed it to anyone looking to buy a new flat iorn.

Product Rating: 4 Wonderful Flat Iron
Reviewer: Lisa from Peoria, IL  Wed Apr 16 2008

The Solia is a wonderful flat iron. It straightens hair well yet gently. I am African American female with natural thick (4a/b )hair. When I use this iron, I look like I have a relaxer. What really impresses me about this iron is that it works well on my mom's hair. She is also natural. Her hair is thin and is highly prone to breakage. This flat iron straightens her hair without causing damage. I didn't rate this flat iron as the best iron since I haven't tried to the Sedu. Nonetheless, I am satisfied that I purchase the Solia and the price is right!

Thanks Folica.com for selling great products at an affordable price!
