I really love this flat iron, The reason why I rated this excellent is because it does what I need it to do. I just wish that I would have got the 1 and 3/4.......I only got the 1 inch, and my hair is a littl thick when I wash it, but once it is flat ironed it is very thin. Also it takes about 1 hour to make it bone straight, but it is totally worth the $75.00 that I paid for it, Don't get me wrong it so totally works, for all women, and all ethnic backgrounds. I mean I have fine wavy, curly hair, and trust me it gets those curls out once I use it. I don't even need to use a straightening spray while flat ironing my hair. Maybe next time I'll get a bigger flat iron plate. Solia is a wonderful brand.!!!:~) I give it 4 stars!:~)

Let me tell you guys. I got the Iron today at work and ran to the bathroom. I plugged it in and waited about 2 seconds and stared to straighten my hair. It took about not even 10 min to straighten my hair and it was great.
It did everything it said on the box. The shipping was fast and this was the BEST flat Iron I had ever had. You if want a Great flat Iron I would recommend this one for sure.

I am black and filipino so my hair is somewhat thick, but really curly so I needed a flat iron with a lot of heat that can tame my curls. I used Hot Tools flat irons before which was very damaging for my split ends. Once I recieved this flat iron in the mail and used it, it was incredible! I was able to straighten my hair in about 30 minutes and it was completely bone straight! With just one run through my hair was silky, smooth, and perfectly straight. In the cold weather, my hair would usually end up wavy and frizzy by the end of the day, but my hair remains straight and smooth by using this flat iron.
I have recieved A LOT of compliments from my friends that my hair looked so great! They think that I got it professionally done. And I have nothing else to thank but this flat iron.
Seriously, this flat iron is the TRUTH. I recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I bought the solia 1 inch and I like it very much. It takes a little bit to straighten it and I don't like these litle hairs that stick up on my head when I use it, but it was slightly better than the FHI ionic ceramic straightener. I have very thick frizzy hair and it tackles it pretty well.
awesome!!!

I am very satisfied with my purchase, it was cheaper and faster than any other iron i have gotten before! It heats up in seconds, doesnt pull my hair at all like other irons do in the corners. And I absolutley love it!!!

I have never been in love before, but im pretty sure that that this is it! I love this straightener so much! it doesnt damage my hair, and it actually straightens it, not like most other straighteners that i have tried in the past! And it heats up so fast for when im in a hurry! Its one of the best things that i have spent my money on, and its definitely worth the 85 dollars!

I bought my Solia iron over two years ago, and it worked pretty well for me. I have fine, dyed hair and it definitely got the job done, but unlike the rest of these reviews, I don't see why it is AMAZING and such. I've used my friend's and sister's Chi, and for my fine hair, the Chi definitely got my hair done quicker and eliminated the pesky cow licks that tend to stick up on my hair, even with the Solia. That said, I used my Solia a ton in the last two years, and I was definitely sad to see it die. For some reason it just started shorting out, to where I had to turn the cord a certain way to keep it on...until my handy duct tape didn't even cut the job. So if you want something to last and that doesn't damage your hair bad, the Solia is a good investment, but now that I'm back in the market for a flat iron, I'm scooping out the Chi, FHI, and Sedu for more shine and less cowlicks.
Seems to me that Folica has a special endorsement deal with Solia, so they are pushing it pretty hard, but definitely check out all the options.
plates pop out

I liked it while it lasted. One of the plates keeps popping out now rendering it useless. It is only a year old. Very expensive for only a year. Otherwise it performed very well. If the plate would stay in I would be very happy with it.
Compare the SEDU to the SOLIA

After reading the reviews, I could not decide between the more expensive Sedu and the Solia. Since I couldn't decide, I purchased both, as Folica has a good 30 day return policy. I bought the 1" because I wanted to make curls occassionally. As soon as I received the flat irons, I plugged them in and went to work on my hair, one side with the Sedu and one side with the Solia. I did not use any special flat iron sprays other than product already in my hair from styling it curly this morning. THE SOLIA WON HANDS DOWN. Reasons: 1)the outside tip on the sedu gets hot and the solia stays cool. I often grab the closed ends of the iron to guide it when I style and don't like it when its too hot to touch and control. 2) The solia does not pinch or pull my hair. Its glide is perfectly smooth. 3)The shine factor with the solia was hands down better than the sedu. 4) an added bonus: it costs $50 less than the sedu. They both heated up quickly, have adjustable temps, and nice long cords. My hair looks fabulous and I love it already.
good while it lasted!

I had my solia for exactly a year when all of a sudden i started to smell something burning!!! when i finally figured out what it was it was my solia! the ceramic plates had litteraly melted off of the iron!! i was devestated because my warrenty had expired the day before it happened!that's the only complaint i have about this it left my hair better than other straighteners!

I am a hair stylist, so I have used many different flat irons; Chi, Rusk, Babyliss. This flat Iron is as good if not better than all those. Plus with the adjustable heat that isn't offered on some of the others makes this a great iron. The only iron better is the Croc that Is used for a chemical protein straighten system, and so expensive that we only use the iron for this purpose. I bought this Solia for my daughter 8 months ago and I dropped it a few weeks ago and one of the plates fell out and was hanging by the wires, but it still worked after popping plate back in place. Clip broke that held plate so it kept falling out while using, which was annoying. I just Gorilla glued (only where back of plate and wires were) the plate back and voila- still works no problem.

I bought this because I had a CHI previously and had dropped it and water and killed it. I read alot of reviews on it, and knew the risks. And, to tell you the truth, this iron is great. It makes my hair softer to the touch than my CHI did, and does not have a burnt hair smell to it. I love that I can change the temperature settings and the knob for it is in an excellent place and doesn't change or move around when straightening hair. My hair is very curly, and puffy (because I'm half puerto rican and half white), and it really gets it as straight as I want it. It's really great, and a good deal, seeing as I bought the CHI for a hundred dollars on a discount and didn't work as great. I love my solia :]

My boyfriend bought me the Solia last Christmas. I don't use it all the time but when I do, It is wonderful. It only takes about 20mins where as when I had just one from Walmart it would take me at least an hour. I absolutely love this product and would recomend it to anyone! It even works on thick course hair. My friends love to borrow it!
Not as good as the Chi

I bought the Solia after I fried my Chi on a trip abroad. I thought I would try another brand, as Folica really pushes the Solia model on it's website. i've been using it for just under a month and am not happy with it. I find that the plates don't glide as easily across my hair as the Chi did, and left pressure creases because of this, resulting in me having to go over the same piece of hair multiple times to make it smooth and straight. Also, I had a hard time manuvering the iron close to my scalp. The plates don't go as close to the edges of the iron as my Chi did, so I wasn't able to get the hair closest to my scalp straight. I'm exchanging mine for another Chi.

I bought the Solia flat iron about a week ago. I was waiting to test is on my step daughter's hair. She has very thick wavy frizzy hair, and although I think her wavy hair is gorgeous, she prefers to straighten it. She uses a CHI at her mom's house, but I think she straightens it too stick straight it doesn't have any movement to it and it still looks dry. I finally tried the Solia on her hair and used a little of the chi silk infusion and it was great. She said it was faster than the CHI and her hair was much softer and shinier. I definitely would recommend the the Solia.
