Product Rating: 4 Amazing
Reviewer: Tiffany Choy from Orlando, Florida & Honolulu, Hawaii  Thu Nov 24 2005

I've only had this product for about 2 months and so far I loved it. I would have gotten the CHI because that was the only brand that I know of, however reading all the other comments for other purchasers, I went with Solia instead. The only question that I had with it was the pamplet said that is the metal part gets dirty, to wipe it off with the cloth inside the box......THERE WAS NONE. Other than that it was amazing.

Product Rating: 5 GREAT purchase! Worth every penny!!

I absolutely LOVE this straightener! I was using the regular Hot Tools straightener, and it would make my hair look dry and coarse...so I switched to this one, and I feel liek I have a brand new head of hair!!! My hair is so soft and shiny, its wonderful! DEFINITELY a purchase that is well worth the money! =)

I researched alot before deciding on what kind of iron I wanted. Quality and price made a difference as I wanted to be sure to get my moneys worth and something that would last. Finding Folica was the best thing I have come across with price and availability. Cannot help but to love the free shipping.
The only past iron I have had is one that came with the Straight to the Maxx kit that I got almost 2 years ago(I used the product once), which worked alright, but last few months it has been pulling my hair and straighting doesn't last unless I put LOTS of product (balm, spray, you name it, I used it). You should see my cabinet. My hair is VERY thick and have it layered all over, and it's just about past my shoulders. It does expand 5x and frizz when there is a drop of moisture, or even working in the yard, and the Solia tames it. It's very curly, hence the layers, but still heavy on my head when it's hot out, which is most days here in So Calif. I used it right away when it came, and my hair felt so soft, even those baby hairs in the back got straight and yes it stayed that way. I am impressed. So much that I wanted to wash my hair again just to straighten it. The only thing I use is the revlon smooth down and let it dry naturally. I can get the Solia (1 in) really close to my scalp (I use 370 degrees mostly) and it comes out great! One pass, rarely two, and I'm done in under 15 minutes. I can curl under and still have some body and it stays that way till I wash again. Dead end straight doesn't work for me, so I like the curling under. My daughter used it, and said WOW! Her hair is thick like mine but longer to the middle end of her back and longer layers. It took her longer to straighten, but got the job done in about 20-25 minutes. We both have color treated hair and I closely inspected for any damage, I found none. The ends are smooth and not dried out sticking out all over. I'm bringing my Solia to my next hair appt and let my hairdresser use it. She says her hands and wrists get a work out when she does my hair, cutting alone takes 45 minutes (told you it's thick). I asked her about a year ago about irons, and she mentioned she wanted a chi, but hasn't gotten it yet. That is when my research began. This brand was better in my opinion. Don't know if it makes a difference, I'm Puerto Rican, and have that hair that can go wild on it's own in a blink. Although I am fortunate that I can do most what I want with my hair, curl, flip, my challenge was getting it straight.
I highly recommend it, wish I decided and found this site sooner.

Product Rating: 3 Not for my kind of hair
Reviewer: Silvina from Dallas, TX  Tue Nov 15 2005

I have a Solano that I love and staightens my hair in one pass, but it's bulky and heavy. I got this one thinking it would be more convenient for travelling.
My hair is very coarse and even though it is not curly, just barely wavey, it takes about 3 passes to make it smooth. Not bad, but not really great for my hair.

Reviewer: jessica from maryland  Fri Nov 11 2005

when i bought it i was a little scared at first. i wasn't sure it was going to work like the one my hair lady has. but it turned out it works great. my hair is left shiney and soft. i can wear it with a flip or strait. i used to have to flip it with a curling iron too. that was just way to many appliances. but no their is no need. i love my flat iron!!!

Product Rating: 5 Solia 1" Flat Iron
Reviewer: Wanda from Cape Girardeau, Mo  Fri Nov 11 2005

Oh wow, I will say, that after trying out and using a friend's Solia 1 3/4 inch flat iron, I went and got one of the 1" irons, and it was WELL worth the money spent on it. This thing makes it sooooo easy to do my hair, whether I want to spend time and fully straighten every bit of it, or just smooth it out in places. Previous ones I had, were damaging my hair, and this has by far been the best I have ever tried. I will go and do a before and after pic and show you just how well it worked for me

Product Rating: 4 I am happy
Reviewer: Krista   Thu Nov 10 2005

This is my first ceramic iron, but I have used others before. It seems to work just as good as the CHI, and I like the temp control so I don't fry my hair. My hair has suffered a lot of color damage, and I couldn't do anything with it before. This iron doesn't magically solve all my problems but it certainly improves things a lot.

I love this straightner so much and i don't know how i survived without it. I'm the type of person that doesn't like to buy things over the internet or on t.v. but i just decieded to take a shot at it and boy am i so happy i made that decision and bought the straighter me and my sisters are in love with it. And when our friends borrow it there like "oh my god" where did you get this from SO i am so happy about my purchase and in love with the straightner!!!!

Product Rating: 2 Did Not Work For Me
Reviewer: Dina from Philadelphia, PA  Sat Nov 05 2005

I am very disappointed with my Solia. I am not sure why, but this flat iron did not work on my hair. My hair is very thick (enough for 3 people), course, and curly. The iron did not straighten like I thought it would. It took three or four swipes to get my curl out and even then, the look was "puffy" and not smooth. Then ends looked horrible and would not lay straight.

Also, I did everything right as far as prepping my hair for the flat iron. I washed and conditioned it really well, straightened with a brush and ionic hair dryer, and used a heat protector. The Solia just wasn't effective for me.

Product Rating: 5 Solia is a great flat iron!

I've only had the Solia flat iron for a couple of days but already love it. It heats up very quickly and gets the job done just as quickly. I especially like that I can straighten my hair dry.

Product Rating: 4 dont drop it
Reviewer: nw   Tue Nov 01 2005

This purchase I made was my fourth purchase on a flat iron. And I made two purchase on this flat iron, Solia. This flat works well and I think its up in the ranks with the top name brands. I have really long, thick hair and it works great. However, I do have to say that this flat iron is a little heavy. Added to the fact that my hair is long it would take double the time of most users. Also, this flat iron (and probably with most) dropping this flat iron will cause it to malfunction. It would not turn on. Otherwise, this product is highly recommended.

After my Chi Turbo just stopped working--true to form--in about 8 months, I decided to try the Solia instead. I liked the Chi, but I love this one! It leaves my thick, coarse, wavy hair soft, silky & shiny! The Chi (only other one I've ever used) did a great job at straightening but left my hair looking dull, dry, & rough--just like it had been flat-ironed. With the Solia, my hair looks like it's naturally straight & healthy. Also, thanks to Folica.com for great customer service & free shipping! I ordered this late Wednesday evening and it was on my doorstep Friday afternoon!!!

I have found that this straightener worked quite close to the other 2 that I have purchased. I didn't like however, that this straigtener tends to pull my hair out at the end or tip of the straigtener.

Product Rating: 4 Best Flat Iron
Reviewer: Bianca from NC  Mon Oct 24 2005

This is a great product for long hair. It's everything a flat iron should be. It gets really hot, hotter than most flat irons so it straightens very quickly and I love how you can use it to flip your hair under and it's also very light weight. The only thing I don't like is that it sometimes tears some hair out but other than that it's the best straightener i've ever bought and believe me I've had alot of them.

Product Rating: 5 the best straightner

i loved solia's straightner. makes my hair look gorgeous, shiny straight and freshly cut. i recommend solia straightner to everyone! it heats up fast and gets really hot so it does the job quick! does not pull or snag my hair like ceramic tools, hot tools, revlon, vidal sasson and all the other straightners i've come across. it is the perfect straightner. i just hope it lasts because i intend to use it a eminently! thanksssss for helping me find this great straightner. i love it! it is worth chelling out a few more 10s for.

This iron is great!! I had to send two True Ceramic Pro irons back because of defects. The Solia iron arrived 3 days after I ordered it. It works perfectly. I am African-American and my hair got super straight with this iron. I have recommended it to all my friends.

I have medium length thick hair with some natural curl, and usually when it's humid outside my hair frizzes and gets bigger throughout the day, even when I blow dry it straight. I just used this flat iron with a heat-activated leave in conditioner and it makes my hair so soft and straight, and the humidity doesn't affect it at all! I completely reccommend this to anyone!

Reviewer: jane from san diego  Mon Oct 17 2005

After comparing it with chi and this, of course, you'll get what you get for the price, however, personally i have a natural curly and frizzy hair resulting from excessive coloring and straightening hair. Surprisingly, the iron work almost (not quite) as good as chi for a much reduced price, and it even have the temperature dial so i can have more control of the heat. strongly recommended.

Product Rating: 4 Best Iron I've Tried!
Reviewer: Hilda from Northern California  Sun Oct 16 2005

I have extremely curly hair that is very thick and have been using flat irons, including CHI, for about six years now and this is by far the best one I've owned. It doesn't burn the ends of my hair, my hair never gets tugged on by the edges, my hair is stick straight! I could do that with my old iron but it would not only take me up to an hour and a half (my hair is just an inch passed my shoulders) but my ends would be fried after that. I've had this iron for one week and am amazed at how fast it heats up, gets my hair stick straight, and doesn't burn my ends! Actually my hair looks healthier. My hairstylist who is a CHI user was amazed at how nice my hair looked and asked if I was using a new shampoo, when I told her about the Solia flat iron I purchased she asked to use it and has now purchased one for her salon! TRUST the reviews, it's a great product!
