I had a regular ceramic flat iron before and thought I should "upgrade" so I chose the Solia. I really think it does a better job than the regular ceramic-- much smoother finish. I recommend it!
Loved it!

I have really thick, frizzy, slightly wavy Asian hair and have had problems managing my hair to my satisfaction all my life. Some products have helped a little with the frizziness, but after reading all the testimonials on Folica a few weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and invest in a proper flat iron. I'm *so* glad I did.
It's really light, heats up incredibly fast, the handle stays cool, and it straightens my hair so quickly that I can actually do it before going to work. I like my sleep, so the ease and speed of getting ready has changed my entire professional appearance. And it stays until the next time I wash it--I can even sleep on it and the next morning it looks just fine. I'll be recommending this to both of my sisters.
The carrying case is a nice addition, too. It's not something that I would ever think of to buy separately, but it protects the countertop and it'll come in handy for travelling.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised by how promptly it arrived--I was a bit concerned because I was moving out of state for my job but it came just when it was supposed to. I come to Folica all the time now for my product research.
Works ok wish I would have bought a chi

I have really curly ethnic hair and this flat iron works ok. It works better then the cheap one I have but not like I thought it would from reading all the reviews. I wish I would have bought a chi the reason I didn't was because it only came with a preset setting. I would recomend this for people that don't have ethnic hair it says it gets really hot but I think my cheap one gets hotter.
very average product

I've had this flat iron for about 9 months. I find it to be very average in comparison to other flat irons i've had that were a lot less expensive. I find my hair is very dry and damaged looking since using this iron even though I don't use it every day and I don't use it on the highest setting. I find the vidal sassoon gold ceramic plate iron for $29.95 at Target works just as well.
You want straight..you got it.

this review is on the solia 1 inch flat iron i used the flat iron a couple of times and though it did flat iron my hair pretty good the plates didn't seem to line up together and i had to press hard to flat iron my hair also the swive cord made a noise everytime i used the flat iron so far it's not a bad flat iron but it's not better then the chi flat iron.
Chinese Hair =D (straight / SUPER Curly)

Okay, so basically I'm 100% Chinese in ethnicity. My hair is probably as corse as they come. MY hair is naturally straight, BUT my brother's hair is SUPER curly and extremely frizzy. (chinese people have two basic types of hair, you're either naturally straight, altho still a bit wavy when it's long, OR you're CURLY and FRIZZY) I just got the Solia and I've used it for a bout a week now. So far it's been a really enjoyable experience. I love how the exterior of the SOLIA doesn't heat up at all at the handle, and is warm at MOST near or ON the outside of the heated plates. Now SOME customers are saying how the plates don't "naturally" touch each other and they have to squeeze extra hard to make contact. Well I can personally do it with one hand with ease, and I think it was actually designed that way so that you don't have to HOLD THE END OF THE STRAIGHTENER together to have FULL CONTACT on your hair =D I really have nothing to complain about this product and can only compliment it more. Now the only test left is the test of time. I'll follow the instruction manual completely and see how long this product will last. ************************************************************** Now as for my brother's hair. It's REALLY FRIZZY and CURLY AND VERY CORSE. **Side note** They did a science lab at school and everyone had to cut a strand of hair to put under the miscroscope. Most of the other kids that were not Chinese could identify their hair as a strand under the microscope. But if you looked under my brother's all you would see is Black. Hahahh so yes VERY CORSE hair. Anyways the Iron took about 3 passes to get it "straight" as he wanted. BUT it was set on about 380degrees. I was hesitant to set it to max as I heard about some review about burning the hair easily. So for that type of hair it was more time consuming to straighten. But in the end it did it's job and did it Well! Of course it also depends on the products you use with your straightener and I found the TIPS section really helpful.
Just as good if not better than my old one

I purchased the Solia Ceramic Ion flat iron after I dropped my Infrashine Ceramic flat iron on my tile floor and cracked the case. I received the Solia flat iron within about a week and it works just as well if not a little better than my other one. It heats up very quickly, within 10-15 seconds and it gets really hot!! I definitely recommend using a product on your hair first that is designed for flat irons. I use a product called Str8 by Rusk. The thing that is a little better about this flat iron than my Infrashine one is the tourmaline definitely makes the plates slide down your hair more easily resulting in less damage to your hair and also it gives it more shine. At the $85 price, I would say this is a great deal for a great product.
Pretty good

It does a great job of straightening my overly curly hair. However, it seems to only last for a few hours. When I straightened my hair with the Chi it lasted all day, with this it is wavy by late afternoon. Overall it works great. It is light weight, easy to handle, heats up quickly, and straightens fast.

I thought the Solia would out-perform a much less expensive flat iron I was replacing.
In honesty, I do not see any difference. In fact, I think I need to make more passes with this iron to straiten my hair. I am already using product, so the curls are already calmed down prior to applying the iron.
I am using it on 370 degrees, which is the maximum for my hair texture. I am making several passes to get it straight. If I go any slower, I get iron marks.
I suppose I could crank it up to a higher temp NOT recommended for my hair, but then I would most likely fry it.
In my opinion, not worth the money.
However Folica was very efficient and sent the product immediately. I would certainly order from Folia again.

I love this product! My hair is so curly and this flat iron really works! I've had a chi and it gave out after a year, After that i decided to try something different. I recommend this iron if you have really curly hair or if you just want a good quality iron. It was well worth the $85.00 i payed for it. I am very happy with the results.

While it works its a great product but the hastle of returns is rediculous plus they make you pay shipping for a product that they warrantee...not my favorite.

I am very happy with my new flat iron. It heats up very quickly and gets extremely hot! It's great for just straightening and doing cute flips or even curling. I definitely would recommend it. It's worth the money and it will cut the time it takes normally to do your hair in half. My hair also looks shinier and less frizzy! Love it!
i decided to order one yesterday!

Ok, my hair is really thick, frizzy (sometimes) and just plain wavy. It drives me insane b/c I'm always having bad hair days when it curls the wrong way. I've tried many straighteners (8 to be exact) and solia was the one that i fell in love with! I only owned one - a conair which didn't work - and the rest I borrowed. When I borrowed a solia my hair was silky straight and no friz! I was so impressed! Finally I saved up some money and ordered this straightener last night. I'm so glad I did and I hope it comes soon. =)
Love it!
