I've had curly frizzy hair my whole life until I got this straightener. The time it would normaly take me to straighten my hair was cut in half and my hair looks a hundred times better

Product Rating: 5 Amazing product!

I have very thick BIG shoulder-length hair, and this iron makes it super sleek and soft. It's so simple to use, and I can do my entire head in less than 15 minutes.
I can finally reproduce the look I get at the salon at home. My stylist uses a Farouk Chi iron, and I get the same results with the Solia Tourmaline. I should've invested in one of these a long time ago!

I am an African American women with thick hair past my shoulder. This flat iron is EXCELLENT, it will get you hair bone straight and silk it out. I keep mine set on 350.

it was okayl It straightened well the first time. The second time, my hair was a frizzball.

this flat iron i thought was the greatest thing for about a couple of months but after that i started to have problems with it. i bought my in 2004 and now the plates are falling out and i feel that for the amount that i paid it shouldnt be breaking after 2 years, i thought these flat irons were suppose to be very durable??????????????????????

Product Rating: 4 Good iron with adjustable temp
Reviewer: Jamie from Virginia  Fri Sep 22 2006

I purchased this b/c it had an adjustable temperature. I have fine corkscrew curly hair that irons flat fairly easily. The Chi iron was actually too hot and make my hair horribly stick straight, so I wanted something a little less severe. This Solia works better than the REvlon I got at Target b/c the Solia does not allow my thermal spray to build up on the plates.

Product Rating: 1 Poor quality control
Reviewer: Audrey Jones from New Mexico  Thu Sep 21 2006

The iron would not turn on and we eventually discovered that the GFI was non functional. The GFI was set on arrival and could not be reset. As a relult I had to return it at a cost of $12 for shipping.

I love Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Irons!! My friends all have one. I have thin hair and love that this has a heat adjustment! my hair is growing out now, instead of frying!

Product Rating: 1 totally disappointed!
Reviewer: Liz   Fri Sep 15 2006

My stylist uses a Chi brand flat iron, so I was set on buying on of these, but the reviews on this site dogged Chi and said Solia was the way to go. i hated this flat iron! It didn't get hot enough, it was hard to use, it gave me frizzy hair and fly-away ends! After a week I was tired of trying and I sent it back!

Product Rating: 5 Love it!
Reviewer: Joan from New Jersey  Fri Sep 15 2006

This is a great flat iron. I have high lighted, fine hair and with this 1" Solia I don't have to worry about damaging it as other irons have. I use it without any straightening product either and it's great. I'm glad I made this choice. I greatly appreciate the lightning fast free shipping (one day) and easy return policy. Their customer service is wonderful. I won't be returning this though. I'm recommending Folica.com to my daughter and my other relatives. Try the Solia: you'll love it. Joan

I love my Solia flat iron. It straightens my hair great, it's the perfect size (I have a little above the shoulder length hair), and it heats up super quick. The price isn't bad either! I would definitely recommend this!

Product Rating: 3 It's OK
Reviewer: Becky from Indiana  Fri Sep 15 2006

I bought this iron to replace my 2" Chi Turbo that I didn't think was "all that" and this isn't much better...it works okm, but still doesn't really get me curly hair sleek and smooth...I recommend using a straightening serum with it.

Reviewer: Kelly from Riverbank, Ca  Wed Sep 13 2006

I bought both my daughters this flat iron. One has fine thin hair and the other has thick hair of good texture(not fine but not coarse either). Both used it at the proper tempature for their hair type and both complained that it did not straighten well at all. Then to top it off after using it for just a few days both notice hair breakage and dryness, which supposedly this was suppose to be gentler on hair.

Product Rating: 3 Its ok...except
Reviewer: andrea   Mon Sep 11 2006

I liked the solia's funky colors and design. It spoke a lot of moving ceramic bars and high heat...lasting hair.

For the most part, it lived up to the standard. The problem was the control switches are on the inside of the flat iron. A great place for you hair to get stuck. I wanted to keep it but my hair was getting stuck in the controls.

Then I tried the Sedu. Yes it gets really hot on the outside but works wonders on my hair. And there's still ample room on the iron to hold it w/o getting burned.

I've been using the Sedu for a couple of months now and the only thing I'd change was how hot it gets on the outside.

I've used the chi and loved it but the cord has lead inside of it. Im not sure how safe that is...So I stuck w/ the sedu...

I have purchased the Solia about 2 months ago. I am extremely happy ith it. I have been using flat irons for 6 years I have owned three different ones. This one is by far the best!

Product Rating: 3 Solia vs. CHI
Reviewer: Heather from Michigan  Sat Sep 09 2006

I ordered the Solia on the advice that the tourmaline would be better for my hair and leave it silkier. My girlfriend ordered the 1" CHI so I was able to use both and determine for myself which one was better. The Solia is nice but the CHI is better. My hair was noticeably straighter with the CHI and they both made it look silky. The CHI seemed nicer to handle and it made my hair look the way I wanted. CHI wins hands down.

Product Rating: 5 I'M IN LOVE!!!
Reviewer: FieldHockey   Thu Sep 07 2006

i love this flat iron so much. it straightens my hair perfectly and is very smooth. i have never seen my hair this straight since i've started straightening my hair. to test it out i straightened my hair one night, and slept on it. i wanted to find out how long and how much it would stay straight through. when i woke up and brushed it, it was still as straight as it was when i went to sleep. to put through another test, i put it up in a pony tail for an entire day for a field hockey practice. i wanted to see if it would leave a crease in my hair like my hair usually does when i straighten it. at the end of the day, i brushed it out, and it was still super straight!!!! i love this straightener. every penny you pay for this is worth it!!!

Product Rating: 4 pretty good!
Reviewer: E.W.   Thu Sep 07 2006

I bought the solia straigt iron a couple of weeks ago and I really like it but it is not the best straightener out there .I had the hot tools ceramic hair straightener before I bought this one and I do think that the solia is a much better quality but the hot tools iron works about the same.(and is cheaper!)There are a couple of downsides to it though. It doesn't curl really well on my hair.I have long thick wavy hair. Also when I would straighten my hair on the hot tools it would last about two days without me having to straighten it over again. With this one it last about a day or so.But my other straightener was a 4inch and this is only 1inch so that is probably why.But it does straighten my hair in about 15 minutes wich is much faster than the hot tools one did.Overall I am fairly happy with the purchase of this product and would recommend it for really all hair types.
