i used to oown a gold plated ceramic iron from sally's, the plating came off and it burned my hair.
This iron is SO incredibly different form the start. I have african american hair and it is coarse, so I didn't know my hair could go through an iron so smoothly. And finally no frizz even on rainy days. Never leaving home without this!I learned to flip and curl my short hair, without any split ends. My stylist was wondering what I'd been doing to always have split ends, now I know what the problem was--cheap iron-trashed...solia-rock on!
Better than Sedu!

I bought BOTH the Sedu AND the Solia. I found the Solia was about the same if not better. It is ALOT cheaper so there is no need to waste your time or money on the Sedu. Go with the Solia! I just wish someone had told me this before I splurged on the Sedu!
Great little straightener

I bought this product after reading the glowing reviews, and have not been disappointed. Now I actually look forward to straightening my hair, and am impressed with how quick and easy it is. It heats up while I put on my moisturizer in the morning.
I have short, coarse, wavy hair, and after using my Solia, my hair looks and feels great. This is my first ceramic straightener, and I can't imagine buying another one.
The only thing I will say it that I was slightly surprised how small it is, but for short hair, it is perfect. If I had shoulder-length hair, I would want a larger one. Also, I travel a lot, and this size is easy to take with me where ever I go.
Last thing, because I am on the west coast, it took just under week to get to me. But Folica have been very efficient, and I had a positive experience buying from them.
Good luck!

I saw the reviews about this product and instantly fell in love with it. It does every thing a CHI does, except break. I never had one but i had several friends whose did and one of the girls went through five before getting a thirty dollar one, which she says works the same. But this product is great, a larger plate would have been faster but i wanted the size so i could finally do something with my bangs which i cut myself, so this iron was my savior. It also curls and the curls are gorgeous and the last!!! The straightening part is amazing. It doesnt frizz, i mean i tuck my hair behind my ears so that lost its straightness but thats a givin. And my hair is siky smooth, i dont use product, unless pert plus 2 in 1 counts. I do hair spray with regular suave when im curling but other than that, nothing!!!! This is really great, my mom has Anne hair and i got it super duper straight and gorgeous. Buy this iron, if you have shoulder length hair and bangs that you didnt mess up, then you might want to get a bigger size, but for time, not quality.
Glad I bought it but not impressed

Upon reading the glowing reviews of this product, I bought it, needing an upgrade from my old straightener. I loved the fact that, with my thin, shortish hair, it is very thin.
I also like the fact that because it is thin, it can double up as somewhat of a curler. The product boasts that it has a swivel cord. However, the wires still get twisted very easily and I constantly find myself untwisting them.
This product does NOT curl your hair into ringlettes like it says that it does, but it can curl the ends of your hair inwards and outwards, which is a cute touch.
All in all, for what I paid, I am not impressed. It does it's job with an added bonus but its not that incredible.
Wonderful magic wand-flat iron style!

"This is the best ceramic wet to dry hair iron ever, it's like a wonderful magic wand-flat iron style!",says my girlfriend! She has really beautiful very long wavy hair, but sometimes likes the straight look. I got it as a gift for her, because I know she likes to try new products. I have to keep my gal looking her best, although she is beautiful regardless! I know she will want something else from here, because she's visited the site since she got her Solia.
Hi, I'm the girlfriend he's referring to. My hair is extra silky and extra straight. I naturally have manageable hair, althouth it is wavy. It's not unruly at all, but I've never had straight hair results like this. My hair has been straight ever since I got my Solia. Also, I'm a swimmer and like to go on vacation. My Solia will have me back to straight in one step. I like the slim plates, because they seem to be more attentive to each strand of hair and I can have a firm grip on my hair without ripping it out, like some of the larger plates when I grip and slide them down a section of my hair. I have waist length hair and I still can finish my hair in less than 50 minutes. Also, I can do it my self by flipping my hair over and straightening without getting burned. The protective construcion grip covering of the Solia plates is magnificent. Girls and Guys, if you want to be straight and can't wait, get the Solia wet to dry! Folica,Inc., thanks for having such professional products that give professional results.
I like it, but I can't use it fully yet

I like this iron, but I can't give it a full review yet. My hair is still too short to use this iron fully. The part I could use curled nicely, so when it grows longer, I'll post another review. I give it 3 stars for now, with a potential for more when my hair gets longer.

I have short thick hair and have tried several different irons all were to big making styling difficult. This iron is the perfect size!! It heats up in seconds and straightens wonderfully. If you have short hair and are looking for an iron this is the one for you!!

I was little skeptical of ordering a straightner online but Folica was great. I received the order quickly and the product is very high quality. I have thick wavy hair and this straightner works great! The small plates make it really easy to start straightening right at my roots. I've used other straightners and I've never been able to get my hair this straight or shiny.

i am over 50, have short, fine, curly hair. this iron works for me. i did not purchase this iron for everyday use and i do not use it every day. at first i was afraid it would fry my hair....but not at all because you can control the heat, oh btw, it heats up in less than a minute. it says you can dry your hair with the iron and i have done so. remember my hair is fine and short, i towel dry first..and then use the iron. even that has not harmed my hair. the width of the iron is perfect for me. i can even use it almost as a curling iron. it does not really give me curls but it curves/flips my hair enough so that it looks thicker and gives a bit more style. the days that i use the iron i use biosilk to help protect my hair...also a great product...does not weigh my fine hair down.
if your hair is long/thick, solia has different sizes and you may do better with a wider one just to save yourself time. well worth the price.

I am amazed at the results I have gotten with this. It has transformed my hair. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair and have tried every product out there. I had previously used conair, babyliss and vidal sassoon (all store bought). I bought this expecting it could potentially more wasted money. It is amazing, my hair looks like somebody elses hair. The look and texture has changed . It looks straight shiny and healthy. It takes no time at all and the beauty of it is that even after being in the humidity (Iam in the deep south), the shower and slleping, no frizz. I wish I had found this product years ago.
Anyone on the fence about buying this just take the leap and I promise you will not be dissapointed.

I am Afro-American and have coarse fine hair. I have had a hard time finding the right flat iron that can both straighten my hair and not dry it out at the same time. Thank goodness that Solia has put out this handy dandy tool. I just love the size, its good for easy styling and you can really get to the shorter hairs , like your bang with dead on accuracy. I also liked the super fast shipment and professional way the Folica company handled my sales request. Keep making more like this!
GREAT for humididty!

I live in Florida and this has been a lifesaver! It does take a little while to figure out which temp works for your hair type and how long to allow it to rest on your hair. I glide through my hair slower than with my cheapy iron but you would not beleive the difference. I can walk into a steamy bathroom after a shower and it still does not frizz up. I do have mildly wavy hair, just enough to need to straighten it in the a.m. but so far, it works great for me. I would suggest using a heat-conditioning shampoo and conditioner though. Thermasilk works every bit as well for me as any of the other more expensive salon brands. The only thing is, I wish I had purchased the bigger plated one. This is the smallest one and if you have short hair, it works great. I have hair just below my chin and I can't get the softer rounded under edge I'm used to. It makes great flip out curls but not so great at turning under for longer hair. If you are looking for just a subtle finished looking turn under, I think I would try atleast 1 1/4"-1 1/2" next time. Good luck!

I've only had it a few weeks and I am so impressed with it, I wished I had bought it years ago. I had a cheap flat iron that said it was ceramic and I would have to iron my hair once and then go back and do it again. It would fluff up with the tiniest bit of moisture in the air. With the Solia, I do my hair once (and in half the time) and I can go outside on a windy day and my hair is perfect! I use less product in my hair than before. I no longer have to use hair spray to seal out the moisture. It truly lives up to what the company says about their product. It is worth the money.
I love it!

I love my recently purchased 3/4 inch Solia! I have a 1-1/2 Sedu, which is great, but it is too big to give my shoulder length layered hair lots of curls like it does my daughter who has longer hair. I've had the Solia for 3 weeks and I love it! It gets my hair nice and straight but also gives me the curls if I want. I am growing out my relaxer (yes, I'm African American) so it lets me get close to the wavy roots. I recommeneded it to my sister who is also growing out her relaxer and she just bought one too.
Works great on super puffy, curly hair!

I recently purchased the solia flat iron, and it works awesome!!! I have very puffy, curly, hair, its about shoulder length. i have tried many hair straighteners, but none worked this well. Since it wouldn't completly make my hair straight i rated it as a 4 star. Other then that, it is incredible! I used it on my sister's hair, and it made it completly smooth, shiny, silky, and straight!!! Her hair is less puffier, and curly than mine, but still usually very puffy. Its an amazing hair straightener and i think everyone with hair like mine should have one. good price too.
Wow this thing works great...

I have coarse, nappy, thick locks of hair that most flat irons can't make flat... I mean they work alright, but it has like a wave to it. The Solia made my hair perfectly flat and super shiny... my gf also uses it and she's about to buy the same one... Definately what u need to get that rockstar hair or if you just want simply straight hair. Oh yah and putting product in your hair when its wet is ket too... Use a mouse or shaving cream... I use a special hair tape from my friends company... checkout the pics...

Bought this flat iron for my daughter, based on the good reviews on this site. Originally was going to buy the Chi but saw that there had been problems with it and this one was better priced. I absolutely love it. My daughter's hair is silky smooth, and the iron is very light weight. It takes almost half of the time using this iron over a cheaper flat iron bought at Target.

I originally was going to spend the money and get a Chi but after reading about the problems people have had with it, I decided to go with the Solia.
I've had the Solia 3/4" flat iron for 3 weeks now and it's great. It heats up within just a few seconds and it has a flashing light to let you know it's on; that feature is helpful with remembering to turn it off when I'm done!
My previous irons were wider and had a handle style like a curling iron rather than the v-shape of the Solia. Definitely go with the v-shape when purchasing a flat iron. No matter how careful I was, my hair always got caught in the hinge part of the handle-style iron but with the Solia v-shape, that cannot happen so it's already healthier for my hair and doesn't cause breakage. My hair has layers of 4-6" in length and my hair is extremely curly and frizzy. The Solia gets rid of all the frizz and curl.
I really like the small size of the 3/4" Solia. This size and style of iron really gives me a lot of control. The wrap-around plates let you get right down to the roots of the hair and the size gives you control to actually put in some style, rather than just flatten. I've never had trouble rounding my hair under but this is the first flat iron where I've been to flip my hair out at the ends a little when I want or give myself a toussled look with some hair flipped out a little, some under, etc. The long swivel cord is great too; it keeps the cord from tangling rests out of the way no matter which way you're switching the iron around your head. Folica service was easy and fast too; no complaints. I ordered the Solia and received it in just a couple days. You can't go wrong with the Solia.
