At first I didn't like it, I felt like it didn't really get the job done and my hair didn't really stay straight. BUT! Once I got the hang of it, I was blown awayyyyy . If you don't like this iron, you're doing something wrong, you just have to make friends with it. Other irons make my hair dry, frizzy, and give it lots of split ends and breakage, BUT NOT THIS ONE! This one makes my hair smooth, shiny, and soft. It keeps it straight. Whoever said this straightener was for SHORT hair was wrong, my hair reaches the middle of my back & it works perfectly, I can get it all done in about 10-15 mintues. So ya great straightener, If i was gonna buy it again I would probably get the one-incher, but who cares when it's this good?

I bought the solia 3/4 in. about two months ago for both myself and 11 year old daughter. we both have natural hair in others words were black. it works great i read all the reviews, good and bad and compared it with the others for about two months, i did not want to waste my money. i am extreamly pleased it heats up right away and does the job. i use to wash blow dry, press then flat iron, now i can definitely skip the pressing. our hair comes out silky. i use the biosilk before blow-drying.

From the photograph of the Solia Tourmaline Ionic flatiron, it appears that the plates are recessed from the body of the appliance. However, the plates are actually flush with the edges of the iron making the possibility of getting burned very probable.
This was enough of a drawback that I never even tried the iron.
Buy this iron, you won't be sorry.

I already owned the magic ionic which was good, but i found i had to pass over the same piece of hair many times to get it perfect. I wanted the solia 3/4 so that I could straighten my bangs and give a little curl under or flip on occasion. This relatively inexpensive iron has blown me away. Not only does it make my bangs perfect and silky, but I use it on my whole head of very long, thick, curly processed hair and it makes it so silky (even if I only do a mediocre blow dry to begin with) and it stays straight well into humid days or workouts. I'm so glad I read the other reviews and bought this iron. I was worried that the less expensive price meant it was somehow inferior, but it is almost half the price of my magic ionic and it is so much better.
folica is also fantastic. super easy and fast shipping.

My Daughter has been through several irons over the years and this one ranks well above average and the price was right! We highly suggest this Iron!!!!!!! My daughter who uses an Iron almost daily - said that this Iron keeps her hair straighter for a few days with just minor touch ups, she also stated the humidity (living the South Florida were it is very humid-we needed this) did not seem to undue the ironing she puts so much effort into as was the case with previous irons. This Iron was also gentler on her hair then some of the more expensive Irons we have purchased in the passed.
If you are looking for an Iron - but this one - we have no complaints!!!!!

I bought this less than a year ago. I loved it, it worked great-one of the best I have ever had BUT I PLUGGED IT IN THE OTHER DAY AND IT NEVER CAME ON. So I took it to another room and tried it there...it never came on.
Very Happy

I've read up on many different types of flat irons and this type of tourmaline/ceramic is the way to go. Solia makes a great flat iron. This is my first and I am very pleased. I have hair past my shoulders but I choose this size to feel comfortable getting the smaller hairs against my hairline. I did the japanese hair straightening (perm straight) and now I have two inches of curly growth and this iron helps me get the growth straight to match the rest of my pin straight hair. It's working. I'm happy with it.

This is my first time ordering a product from Folica. Folica was nothing but awesome customer service! They forgot to send out my free iron pad but after emailing them they sent it right away! The styling iron works great, it heats up really fast and it leaves my hair straight for the whole day. I'm really satisfied with this, guys, I really recommend this product!

I would like to thank each and every person who suggested the Solica Ceramic Flat Iron. I am not a person who goes to the hair dresser that much, maybe once a year or two. As a woman of color, I have tried every relaxer there is and just this past year it came down to me having to use two home perms at once every time I wanted to straighten my hair. I even tried mixing shampoos and conditioners to help assist me in straigtening my hair. Unfortunately, nothing ever really worked like I wanted it to. I was soo disappointed. Then LOW and BEHOLD, I lucked up on this site! THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR! I washed my hair with Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. While I conditined it, I used Sunsilk 24/7 frizz free cream. Being that I read you could use the Solia from damp hair, I tried it, and it started straightening great, but I was too impatient so I dried my hair on a medium setting with my hair dryer. I used a smoothing heating balm and the Sunsilk again and I used my new Solia on the highest setting and WHAM! I could have fallen out of my seat my hair was so soft, silky and boy was it straight! I LOVE THIS THING! ANYONE WHO SAYS IT DOESN'T WORK, JUST DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT! THIS IS A MIRACLE PRODUCT FOR ALL WOMEN OF COLOR WITH THICK, KINKY, NAPPY, FRIZZY or SPLIT-ENDED HAIR! If you have these types of hair, ladies believe me, this will please you to the fullest. You won't have to worry about your hair getting that way again. I used it and later on in the day I sweat and my hair stayed just as straight as it was when I used my Solia. I went back in the house and kissed it! Thank you Folica.com for having such a wonderful product! I'm sorry I couldn't show you all any pictures, I was too excited in getting my Solia, I forgot.
Can we say "OUCH"?

I just used this straightener today and I am very disappointed in it. Not only did it snag & pull my hair, it didn't even really straighten. I had to go over each piece at least 2 times to get it straight. I am definitely returning it & trying another brand.
what a waste of 80 bucks

IT SUCKS!! I just received a Solia 3/4 inch iron today. I have to say that it DID NOT do very well. It snagged my hair, and when I tried to curl it under, it didnt last very long. Plus, my hair feels really dry now. Im def not using this again...my crappy walmart curling iron did WAY better. Im sending it back.
I love It

I purchased this flat iron a couple of months ago. It works wonders on my hair. I am African-american and wear a press and curl and this little flat iron straighthens and curls my hair nicely. I think the investment was well worth the money I spent.
Thanks~!

This Straightening iron is definitely worth the money. With the 3/4" plate you can get really close to your ends without your hand getting in the way and with the rounded design you can make a nice loose curl. Your ends lay down very nice which means it's closing your cuticle nicely. No frizz!

I'm a guy and I've been using this iron carefully since two months and half now (never at max temperature, never twist the cable around the iron's beak, etc.) and I can say that even now, it works as well as two months ago.
This flat iron is amazing because I have really stubborn flipping dry hair (which drives me crazy) and before it can be tamed with an iron, it takes like 20 strikes (30-40 minutes) and I won't mention the frizzies.
With this flat iron, I heat it up (takes about 30 seconds) and in two strokes everywhere at 350 degrees, my hair has a shiny, healthy and naturally straight look (in about 5 minutes).
It does a creaking sound after a while when you manipulate the handle, but you pay 80 bucks for it, not 200 !! I think that the quality of this iron for the price is excellent ! I might consider buying another one if my first one lasts more than a year.
Love it!

Before buying this, i wanted to know if the straightner burns your hair badly and leaves you with split ends if you dont use a protecting spray. The reviews make it sound great .. and my straightner now leaves me with burned hair even with a good protector.
my boyfriend loves it

I bought the Solia 3/4inch for my boyfriend who has long hair with lots of curl in it with he hates. His hair looks so good after he straightens it. He now wears his hair down and loose and loves it. It didn't take long for me to teach him how to use it.I love the fact that it heats up so fast. Not only does it straighten his hair but it does a good job of turning his ends under or up.
