This is the 2nd Solia flat iron that I have purchased(One for me, and one for my daughter , it straightens my hair to perfection. The only complaint that I have is that the heating element doesn't seem to last long, but Folia is very good about it's warranty guarantee and has faithfully replaced the item with no problems.

I love this flat iron! My mom is a hairdresser and I have used nothing but Farouk/Chi ever since they came out but I have had to replace every one I've ever had after about a year and I really wanted to try the wider plates to maybe cut my straightening time down some (it took me an hour with the 1" Chi). I can straighten my hair in about 30 minutes from start to finish wit the Solia 1 3/4" flat iron. It stays hot and until I got to the top layer I only had to go over each piece of hair one time. I would recommend the Solia to anyone.

I have very very curly fine frizzy hair, and have NEVER been able to get my hair straight by myself. This iron straightens my hair without me even having to blow it out first. I truly am so happy that I have finally bought this iron.

Product Rating: 4 Takes a while to get the hang of it

The first few tries I was not very convinced, until I increased the heat on the flatiron to almost 450. Then it worked. I recommend to wait until hair is completely dry and to use some protective serum (i.e. Frizz-Ease serum or similar) before applying the iron. Adding a bit more serum after straightening also helps.

We purchased this product for my 13 year old. She absolutely loves it. She can straighten her very long, very curly hair herself in about half the time it took her with her old straightener. And, she just got her hair cut, after about a month of using the product, and the hairdresser commented on how healthy her hair is.
Definitely worth the money, and the customer service and shipping time by Follica were exeptional!!!

Product Rating: 5 Awesome!!!

I've had mine for about 15 months and I LOVE it!!!! BEST b-day gift I've ever had. It gets HOT fast (1 min) and takes only 1 pass for mostly straight. 2 passes for so straight you'll think your head shrunk.

Product Rating: 4 Solia's well worth my $75
Reviewer: Anonymous from TX  Mon Jan 28 2008

For reference: I already have pretty straight hair, so I only use this straightener in the morning when my hair is all messed up from sleeping. I wake up with dents and sometimes random curls, so I use this straightener to even things out

PROS:

1) Heats up FAST. It takes AT MOST 1 minute for me to get a hot iron.

2) Great range of heat. If you have fine hair, you're able to go to the lower heat, and if you have thick hair, you go up in the 400's if you want.

3)I like how the cord swivels. Even though I'm not a leftie, I'm sure a left-handed person would benefit from this swivel thing rather than always having to deal with right-handed products

4) 1 year warranty. Wish it was like 3-4 year warranty, but any warranty is better than none!

CONS:

1) Hair feels very smooth, but not super SILKYYY. I wouldn't say that's any huge con at all. I'm not too sure there's a lot of more affordable straighteners that give you the "extreme silk hair" feeling. This one does the job and my hair feels just fine. But if you're a person who is picky or has a preference for extremely silky hair after straightening, then this product won't give you instant-silk.

2) Even though this is not a huge issue for me, but more of a preference: I wish it had some felt around the plastic because the plastic sort of heats up too (but not terribly. I can still put my hand on it, but not for too long). I like how Chi's turbo has that red felt around it so your hands stay completely heat/burn-free

I followed the instructions on how to take care your hair straightener and so I ALWAYS unplug my hair straightener after EACH use. So far, I haven't seen any problems with this product at all. And I like that it comes with that heat-proof mat/pouch so it's easy to carry during vacations. The only gripe I have about the mat/pouch is that I wish the pouch was slightly bigger to contain all the cord. The cord all fit, but not the end where the metal plug thing is.

I find the Solia to be an efficient, quick, and effective device. My hair (medium curly but very disobedient) straightens quickly and stays straight for a long time. It heats up fast and stays hot, which makes straightening that much faster and easier. I like the heat adjustment too. Highly recommended!

A friend recommended the iron to me and I choose this one because it is for long hair. It heats real fast, so be careful. Don't set the heat setting too high because it could fry your hair.

Product Rating: 5 Highly recommend

I have very long thick wavy hair, kinda like rosanna rosanna dana.......lol.......Anyway this is the third iron I have purchased and the happiest I have been. It takes me only 30 mins to get it straight and under control and leaves it shiny not all dried out like most irons.
Buy this if you have crazy unruly hair like me.

I shopped for flat irons online two years ago because nothing in the stores seemed to really straighten long, course, wavy hair. I chose this product based on the reviews and was not dissappointed. This flat iron straightens quickly and easily. I would definitely recommend this product!

Product Rating: 4 Works great for long, thick, coarse hair
Reviewer: anonymous from Costa Mesa, CA  Fri Jan 18 2008

I first ordered the Solia 1-1/4" flat iron, but the handle (the side with the Temperature Control) would get super hot and make it unbearable to hold it for longer than 5 seconds at 370 degrees. I tried covering the grip with a towel as well as lowering the temperature, but it did not work well with my thick hair. I called customer service and the rep indicated that she's never heard of such issues with Solia. So I decided to return and purchase the same brand, but the 1-3/4" one. The handle still gets hot, but not to the point where it burns my palm so I am able to use it at 400 degrees. I love the way it can immediately flatten and straighten my long, thick, coarse, frizzy, wavy hair that defies gravity!

Followed the suggestions of Folica buyers and bought this straight iron. Very glad I did. Have long, thick, very wavy hair. Straightens in 1/2 the time of other irons. Leaves hair sleek, shiny and not fried. Worth every dime!

THE SOLIA FLAT IRON WAS DEFINATELY NOT FOR ME..INSTEAD OF MAKING MY HAIR STAIGHT AND SMOOTH IT FRIZZED OUT MY HAIR EVEN MORE (I HAVE WAVY THICK HAIR)..I PREVIOUSLY HAD THE HOT TOOLS..WHICH WAS GOOD FOR THE PRICE AND DID ITS JOB..AND ALSO HAD THE SEDU..WHICH WAS AWESOME..I JUST WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT..BUT NEVER MIND NOW...IM GOING TO GIVE THE 2008 SEDU A TRY..

I've always had the Chi and it broke. So, I figured I would try and get something less expensive. I actually like solia better than the CHI. The Chi used to leave my hair looking dry and brittle. It was really hard on my hair. THe Solia leaves it looking silky and smooth. And a whole lot more natural looking. When I used the Chi it was obvious I used a flat iron. With the solia, it just looks like I have straight hair. It does take me a little bit longer with Solia than it did with the chi. Mainly because I have to keep going over it.

i bought this iron thinking it would be a durable, good iron. it got great reviews and my friend loved it. it could flat iron my huge frizzy permed hair to flat, straight hair in only 30 minutes. however, immediately upon receiving it, i found it to be defective. it would not even turn on. after returning it, i got a new one which worked for about 2 months. then the same defect appeared again. this iron IS NOT DURABLE AT ALL. try a different brand or a different model b/c this one is not good for sure.

I purchased the Solia l-3/4" flat iron a month ago and I love it. I have long, think hair and when I blow it dry, my hair frizzes and is out of control but with the Solia Flat Iron, as long as I blow it dry, I use the flat iron on it and it makes my hair smooth and manageable. I love it.
