Solia for Long Hair is great!!!
Reviewer:
The Curly Egyptian One
from VA Tue Mar 10 2009
Seriously, Seriously, Seriously. This is the best I have ever owned. (I have owned 4), I have really long thick Egyptian Hair, and It used to take me atleast an hour to blow dry and Straighten before Solia. Now I let my hair air dry, and litterally no joke it took me 20 min. One stroke that is it. With my old ones in order to get it pin straight I would have to do 5-10 Strokes. The Solia leaves your hair silky, and when I washed it it didn't smell like that burnt hair smell you usually get after you iron your hair. Plus my husband said it is so much shinier. If my husband notices that, then it must be the truth because he never notices anything. Plus it is so affordable. YOu really get more than it is worth. My hair stayed straight for a whole week even after I put it up or down, it still stayed shiny and straight. Oh and the frizz....poof gone. Y Plus it really protects your hair.I didn't believe the whole Touramaline and negative Ion stuff, but really it makes your hair look so much healthier. I went back to my curly hair style and my curls were back and less frizzy. It is the only one with 450 degree hair setting, not sedu, or the corilis or the chi have that. Finally no one has time any more these days get something that will save you time and effort. Oh by the way, the best hair protector when you flat iron your hair is Redkin Ultra straight balm, it smells awesome. I hope this helps someone out there. This is really a great product and Folica doesn't charge any shipping, and they give you a free bag. Talk about great customer service.
Was Very Disappointed

After taking a lot of time researching different irons, I chose to go with the Solia because it was less money than the Sedu..which was my first choice but according to all the reviews the Solia was a good alternitive if you wanted a less expensive iron. I just recieved the iron today and I'll tell you what... if you have really curly, course or frizzy hair....this is NOT the Iron for you. I had to put the iron on as hot as it would go and it still took me 5 or 6 passes to get it straight and even though it was straight it still wasn't as smooth as I'd like. I have boughten a $40 iron before that worked better than this. I have now ordered a Sedu and can't wait to see if the results are better, I know the reviews were certainly better. And by the way for those of you thinking I didn't use the right products...I did use the Maxius Beyond Straight system, plus the heat protectant from Sedu.
Better than Chi

I just recieved this for my birthday. I am a hair product/styling junkie and I've always used Chi's, thinking they were the best. This is much softer on my hair and I feel like it is doing less damage, but it get's it just as straight! I love it!

I have tried many flat irons in the past and finally decided that only the hot come can straighten my hair. After reading the reviews on this flat iron i decided to try my luck at flat irons again. It worked miracles for my hair. WOrked better than any heating appliance I ever used and my hair is very stubborn. I love it and made a great investment. I love my SOlia Flat Iron!
I loveeee ittt!!

I got this because I'm transitioning from chemically straightened hair to natural hair. I am African American and I am going to marry this flat iron. It straightens without scorching and is very, very easy to handle. If it died tomorrow, I wouldnt hesitate to repurchase (this coming from a single mom to 3 kids and on a budget!)
Still works great after 4 years

For the review "Don't buy this!" Don't believe her, maybe she got a broken one. When you set the temp. to the highest (450 degrees) is incredible hot but doesn't damage your hair at all. I use SOLIA once a week for the past 4 years and now I am getting my mom one for xmas so she can stop using mine.
You won't regret it.
thick frizzy hair=shiny soft straight hair

So I bought this flat iron about a 14 months ago, and was very impressed with the results. But then after about 12 months it died...just wouldn't turn on anymore. So, stupidly, I purchased another because it worked so well until it died, better than most flat irons for the price. And guess what? Less than a month later, it WON'T TURN ON. It's under warranty, sure, but SUCH a hassle. I don't even know if I'll bother sending it in.
Love It !!!!!!!!!!

I adore this straightener. It is amazing. It straightens my hair in half the time and makes it much softer and silkier. It is definatley worth every single penny. It saves me so much time and frustration! I love it i would definately reccomend it.It is so much better than my old revelon $20.00 one. Trust me it is worth the money! It straightens my curly thick hair pretty easily.

If you have super curly long hair, then this is the best. I have had this solia for 3 YEARS NOW. It works just as well as when I first got it. It doesn't seem to cause damage and it leaves my hair silky smooth and sexy. Usually my hair is VERY curly. I just love it. It works and it was $98 well spent.
Good, not amazing...

I used to use a flat iron that was good quality, but it was kind of old and didn't make my hair super straight. It pulled my hair a little and it took a little under and hour to straighten. I wanted my hair to be pin straight. I just got the solia, and I tried it without using any products. I will buy a heat protectant and/or one of those shiner spray things soon, though. Anyway, it was much better than my old flat iron, but it wasn't amazing. My hair still kind of curls under at the ends, and it didn't shorten my straightening time at all. My hair does look gorgeous (if I do say so myself!), but I don't know how people with really curly hair (mine is curly/wavy/frizzy, an annoying combo)can get by with this flat iron. My hair looks good and smooth, but don't get the solia if your looking for truly pin straight hair, or if you want something that will shorten your straightening time. Other than that, it's recommended.
ok not great

This is the 2nd time I leave a review ( it wasn't put up last time). It did straighten my hair but at the first sign of humidity my hair was frizzy.

I used these flat irons on my hair and my hair is super straight right now. Before my hair was super curly super frizzy super poofy and thick like wool but after the solia i was very impressed.

Okay, so I was extremely excited when I ordered my Solia. I had spent hours reading reviews and trying to decided between it and the Sedu. Finally, I chose the Solia. But,I deeply regret choosing it. It arrived today and I immediately plugged it in and read the directions so I wouldn't do anything wrong. Once it was ready to go, I straightened a portion of my hair and NOTHING happened. I tried again and still nothing happened. The straightner was at the highest temperature, 450 degrees. I touched the heated plates and I could literally keep my hands on it because there was barely any heat. I'm very disappointed and wish I had chosen the Sedu.

Previously I owned a Sedu. It did nothing but damage my hair and leave it in a puffy mess. I got my Sedu in December-- it died on me in June. I honestly don't understand how the Sedu gets such good ratings. It's way overrated and overpriced.
I figured good ridance, and decided to go with the Solia. It's AWESOME-- if I could give it a hundred stars, I would. I received it yesterday and just used it on my hair and seriously, straight as can be. It's shiny too, and my hair is typical hispanic hair. A big, voluminous, curly mess. My hair never shines, but with every pass of my Solia I could see the light of the room bouncing off the piece of hair. My hair is so soft and is actually laying flat. I have never gotten these kind of results at home. I hope my straightener lasts a very long time. If you're reading this to decide whether to get one, get it, I'm SO sure you won't regret it. Plus its cheaper than most professional flat irons on the market. OH and it cut my grueling straightening time by a lot. With my sedu it used to take me about three hours to do my whole head. It just took a bit over an hour right now with my Solia. With this Solia you can take a bigger piece of hair to straighten, and only need to pass it through the straightener ONCE-- and its straight. This straightener is a freak of nature, and I love it. Get it. I'm so happy I did.
Works well... but really damages hair

this styling iron is good but after reading all of these glowing reviews, I expected a miracle. so, i was a little disappointed when i couldn't just run it through my hair once and everything would look silky and smooth and straight. it is a good iron and i've dropped it and twisted the cords many times but it hasn't broken. (i've had it for about a year) i think it must be one of the best flat irons someone could buy, though it really damages hair. after using the iron about five times, i had flyaways and split ends beyond repair. it works, but even with this straight iron, straightening my hair is just as time consuming as before. the results are great at first until the hair starts breaking. there is no miracle product... or at least a reasonably priced miracle product... that will straighten hair without damaging it and taking time. even so, this straightener is inexpensive and works well so I would recommend it, but dont be disappointed when it doesn't work like magic as many of these reviews suggest. and be very careful so you don't damage your hair to the point of where you have to get it cut shorter than you would like.
