!A LETDOWN!

Everyone's hair is different so I don't know if i have the room to be telling ya'll that this sucks and not to get it. I have really long, unmanageable, frizzy, kinda curly/kinda straight, sometimes matted hair. haha. For example, i condition my hair twice in the shower and then spray in conditioner to comb it out and it still takes a good 10 minutes to comb through. So... I heard about the CHI and looked on this site, found the Solia, saw that it was cheaper and rated better, and then bought it. I spent 3 days in total excitement, waiting for it to come in the mail and work miracles on my hair. When it came i was so letdown. I had been telling people " in two days my hair is going to flat!" and then... flop.. it wasn't. I get out of the shower, blow dry my hair straight (however, HUUGELY frizzy, and kinky underdeath) and THEN use a flatiron to flatten it out and straighten out the frizz/kinks. Well for the last 2 years i've been using an old helen of troy (non ceramic) straightener. All i have to say is the Solia (which was 100 bucks) didn't work any better the old one i already had. ANyway, i sent it back and go the money. I'm going to try the CHI out and if that doesn't work and isn't the frizz flattening miracle-worker i want... well then i guess there's no hope for my hair to be flat. :(
Thank you Folica.com !!!!!

I have really thick coarse hair and I couldn't get a good grip on my hair to make it straight. It did make my hair straigher but didn't staighten it. I returned it.
im lovin' it!

I have very curly thick hair and this flat iron gets it straight in half the time it used to take me with my old iron. Well worth the price. Also does not dry my hair out and leaves it very shiny.
Not sure what all the hype is about

i bought this iron because it was at a great price and had received such remarkable reviews from everyone, I thought -- how can i go wrong? well, i was wrong. The plates of the iron did not connect smoothly, and so i really had to go over each hair section numerous times. I just had an overall horrible time . I have really really thick and curly hair and this iron just didn't work on me. I had to return it and get the Kenta (which I have borrowed before -- and made me interested in flat irons). It's a bit pricier and not ceramic -- but works SO MUCH better for me. To each their own, i guess...

This iron is perfect for our house of four females with naturally curly hair! It heats up super fast and is very easy to use. The only thing I would have done differently is maybe get a tad smaller size.

I think that this is a good product to buy. I rate this average because it does get hot on the outside of the iron. It does make my hair look good as far as getting the look I want. I would recommend this to someone looking and comparing irons that this flat iron was good purchase for me.
Loves It!

I was a little skeptical because of the overwhelming number of good reviews, but I ordered anyway to see what all the fuss was about and boy was I glad I did!
I have really long, frizzy, thick hair and it made my tresses so very straight. I wasn't liking it at first because I had it at the lower temperature setting and it wasn't getting my hair as straight as I wanted it, but at the highest one, it works great. It's totally worth the money. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I just received my Solia flatiron. It was perfect timing because I had just washed my hair and sat under the dryer.
Well I was so excited to try out my new product that I had forgotten that my hair was still a little damp, but no worries I had the Solia. At the first stroke I was impressed. I didn't have to get so close to the scalp for straight roots and I was able to curl my hair with the Solia. I was using Gold N Hot products previuosly and I had to always curl my hair with a separate curling iron. I could also never go all the way to my ends without being afraid of burning my ends out but with the Solia I didn't hear any frying or see any smoke. I thought about buying the Chi but after reading the reviews I decided against it and went on to another product. I refused to pay $160 for a product that wasn't guaranteed to last the moment it was out of the box.
Thanks Solia for this flatiron now I don't dread washng my hair as much!!!!
I am a pro! and so is this straightener!!!

I received my Solia 1 3/4" as a Christmas gift and I absolutely luv it!
Before, I had been using the cheaper brands from Wal*Mart or Target, and their plates ALWAYS pulled at my hair and gave me flyaways. Not so with my Solia! The ceramic plates have never tugged at my hair and it gives my hair a very smooth look. Also, the cheaper brands do not get as hot, so it takes longer to straighten your hair, and no one has an hour to straighten their hair every day. And it would take every day. But with my Solia, I can straighten my hair (without and hairspray, mousse, or gel) and it stays for 48 hours! I have a friend who has tried both my Solia and the Chi, and without hesitation she prefers my Solia.
I would encourage anyone who is considering buying a hair straightener to buy a Solia.

Excellent product. After previously using a clothes iron to try and control her VERY FRIZZY, naturally curly hair, my daughter now gets BETTER results in 1/3 the time. She is thrilled!

My daughter has dealt with "crazy" hair for a couple of years now. She gets it thinned every few months, but never really got the results that she wanted. The Solia has changed that. She is able to iron her hair in about ten minutes and it lasts all day. She is very active, playing basketball and volleyball, and now her hair looks great, even after she takes it down after the game. I would buy this product again!
Do not hesitate to buy this flatiron!

I purchased in 2001 a Solano Sapphire flatiron. Based on rave reviews from my friends and also using it myself, it was a great purchase. I had no problems with it over the 3 1/2 years (I used it every day or every other day; I have long, wavy, thick hair)other than the teeth of the comb breaking off over time. Even that was not a problem for me, because I knew I wanted to purchase a new iron given the fact that I used it daily and the Solano I purchased was not ceramic, nor did it have a temperature control. After an hour of researching on Folica (the BEST, most informative website I found in this market)I decided on the Solia Professional Ceramic Ion 1 3/4" iron. I was not at all disappointed - works great on my hair (I was a little skeptical about not having a comb) and every feature that it claims is true. I have used it now for about 3 weeks I could not be happier with it. I encourage you to make the investment on this product.

My daughter and I both have thick kinky hair and in addition mine is graying and the gray tends to kink up even more. We call this iron "the magic wand" because it has totally transformed our hair. My husband could not believe how the gray seemed to disappear after I ironed my hair. The very first day I used this, I met my daughter for a Christmas lunch. When I walked into the restaurant I could see the surprise in her eyes. She thought I had been for an expensive hair treatment at a high-end salon.
Excellent iron!

I have tried all the flat irons avaliable at your local drug store but this iron surpasses them all and worth every penny. I have a mix of ethinic hair(cajan background) and asian hair and to flatten out my super curly hair was always a nightmare. Now I totally look forward to working on my hair because this iron has made it so easy and the best part...... my hair is super straight just like out of the salon and super super soft and when there is moister in air my hair reamins straight with out fizzing up. I highly recommend this product it really does work wonders.
