I was so excited to purchase my Solia after reading MANY MANY reviews.
I think, plain and simple my hair just may be too damaged for this straightener. It does the job, and gets my hair straight, doesn't cut down on time too much, but I don't see the shine and movement that is said to happen so often with this iron.
Also, I found it near impossible to curly my ends, even after a hefty 3 inch trim of the dead ones, a smaller size may be more ideal for flipping out.
Keep in mind I ONLY use professional products, mostly Paul Mitchell, with some Bedhead products thrown in the mix.
Here is what I did just to be specific enough to show I have a relatively good idea of what I'm doing lol-
Shampood & conditioned my hair (thickTHICK, long, loosely curled and DRY) with Bedhead Moisture Maniac Shampoo, and BedHead Dumb Blonde reconstructor deep conditioner.
Combed while wet, then towel dried until slightly damp.
Applied Thermasilk detangler, Rusk Gloss Drops, Paul Mitchell Straight works, and finally Paul Mitchell Seal and Shine for heat protection. I comb each product through before applying the next
Then sectioned hair off into four parts and blow dried with large round brush. Then re-added Rusk Gloss Drops and sprayed some more Seal & shine, combed through.
Turned on Solia iron, *Lightning fast heat up* that's a plus. Started ironing. Ironed in 1-2inch sections at a time.
After I was through added more gloss drops (lol they are a godsend) & was done. I didn't see an INCREDIBLE change from the Vidal Sassoon ceramic "plated" iron I bought for $30 prior to the Solia. It was a decent improvement, but not worth $100 - maybe $50 or so, but again I wasn't blown away.
I wasn't blown away, but if I can keep my hair this straight with little damage or no damage, then this iron becomes worth it.
Another plus is the light weight, and LONG cord - I'm 5'11''
& often do my hair standing up, so don't let anyone say it's too short.
& After a day of sweating from work, I didn't notice any annoying crinkles and curls in my hair. So if it is in fact humidity resistent it MIGHT get another star from me.
But if you have overly processed/damaged hair, I just don't think this iron will cut it. It's good..for now, but not the best.
Happy shopping!

I am very satisfied with this product. If you have curly thick, had to maintain hair, this is the product for you. I have spent hundreds of dollars on flat irons and straightening creams and have never been able to accomplish what I can with this flat iron. I put no product in my hair, with damp hair, and have silky straight hair. My ends usually frizz up and look dried out, but somehow with this flat iron my hair looks like it does in the Pantene commercials. I love, love, love it. All my co-workers and friends are buying this flat iron. Do not hesitate, spend the money for great quality.
Its ok..

I thought that it was just okay. I sent mine back because I did not think it was worth 98 dollars but it works okay. I figured that my 30 dollar curlmaster works much better. To me, this straigtner would work well on REALLY thick hair, mine isnt.
Not too shabby...

Considering that my last flat iron was a Vidal Sasson purchased in 2002 the Solia is quite impressive. It smoothes my hair and does not pull. However, it did not entirely eradicate the little frizzes without some repeating.
Amazing!

My hair was as unruly as it get's before I purchased this product. With my natural wave and general dryness I could never straighten it to be perfectly smooth. When I tried my new flat iron, it made my hair more flat than I've ever seen it! It now looks healthy and shiny in a fraction of the time it used to take. I highly recommend this product!

I just purchased this flat iron and really like it. My hair is naturally curly and very hard to manage and this flat iron works great and straightens it very quickly. It also heats up very quickly which is a definite plus. The only thing that I don't like is that my hair sometimes gets caught in between the metal and the plastic but that doesn't happen to often. Overall, I would say that this is an excellent purchase and well worth the money!
I love it!!!!!

I got my solia about 3 weeks ago and I love it!! My hair is just a bit wavy and it makes it sooo straight and sleek. It looks really healthy too. I had the Babyliss ceramic with the comb before I got this. I used the Babyliss for about a year and then the ceramic started to chip off and reveal the metal plates. This is by far the best!!! I would highly recommend it.
Try it out for yourself

The SOLIA flat iron was sent to me the very next day, when I used it, it just felt like a hot-tools flat iron. but i guess you have to break it in at first because the second day it worked even better. Like now when I go out and party all night it still looks like i just straighten it the next morning. the best part about it is i dint even starghtened it. This product is very worth it. It even looks nice to show off, especially when your friends ask why your hair looks nice!

First of all Folica.com has great shipping, I ordered my iron Sunday morning and received it Tuesday evening and shipping was free!
As far as the iron goes it works very well. I am Hispanic and chemically straighten my hair every six months. Usually I wash, condition, and dry my hair with rollers for an hour followed by another half hour of blow drying to get it straight. The process usually takes two hours at the salon and I never even attempt to do it at home. Two of my friends own this iron and recommended it to me.
I received my iron on Tuesday evening and 1 hour later my hair was straight. I washed and conditioned my hair as usual, then put some John Frieda Frizz Ease in it and divided it into five sections. I used my blow dryer only to get the excess water out of my hair. Then I divided each section into three and went through each section with the iron. An hour later I had straight hair! Never in my life have I been able to do my own hair at home without a professional and have it look good.
I recommend this iron but not for daily use, because applying any kind of heat (iron, blow dryer, rollers, hot comb) to any type of hair everyday will cause damage. I have used it twice since I received it, once a week is enough for me.
I love it!

I ordered my solia on Sunday and received it today - folica has the best shipping ever!! I just tried it for the first time on my curly hair, and it's shiny and straight and perfect! Ladies, be careful. If you miss a tiny bit, it'll be the only piece of your hair that's not healthy-looking and beautiful!!!

I've never used a flat-iron before. I've only had this one a short time, and it was very easy to get the hang of it. Whether flipped up, or curved under, I have a smooth hairstyle that stays all day. I find that I have not gone back to using my traditional curling iron yet.

this straightner is like seriously wayy better than a chi i used to have a chi nd it broke after 4 months(ive had my solia for 6 monthis nd it works fine) plus if it was humid out side my hair would friz. with this my hair stays stick straight all day no matter what. i didnt belive all the reviews but they are all true. but it used to take me 30 minutes every day now it takes 10-20. you should really buy this if you have poofy, wavy, and think hair

Not as good as I thought it would be. I already had a hot tools straight iron that probably works better at straigtening my hair than this one. I do like though because of the great discount that this site sells it at and it doesn't snag your hair. My friend has a hai straight iron that works great. It also works on damp hair so I recommend that one.

I DO LIKE THE FLAT IRON ALOT, BUT I AM STILL IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO LEARN TO USE THEM WITHOUT THE FRIZZ AT THE ENDS. I AM SURE IT WILL BE GREAT ONCE I FIGURE OUT THE PROPER WAY TO USE THEM!!!
Worth every penny - this is amazing!

I started out straightening with a Remington straightener from Target - I didn't know what I was missing until someone told me about the Solia. I was reluctant to buy one but mine died, so I gave it a shot. Not only is my long, thick hair a lot smoother and healthier, I use less product and energy in getting the look I want.
Bottom line? You will not be disappointed with this flat iron. It's worth every penny.

The Solia Flat Iron is pretty good, although I was a bit dissapointed it did not make my hair as smooth and silky as I expected. With that said, everthing else that is advertised about this flat iron is true. It has a great heat up time and does not pull the hair out of my head. Overall, I am very pleased with the product.

I only have wavy hair and I don't use the straightener everyday (except on my bangs) but I love this straightener. I have very thick hair and it works well on it; it also doesnt damage my hair, which I was worried about. It was money well spent!

I am so happy I got this wonderful straightener! I have poofy, frizzy, course, dry curls and it straightened them like magic. It locked the moisture in so that my hair didnt get even more dry and damaged, and it took away 90% of the frizz! My hair is now soft and sleek..I cant go anywhere without this straightener!

I have moderately curly but very freezy hair. I've always loved how they straihgtened my hair with an ionic iron at the salos that's why i decided to buy one and do it myself at home. I bouth this iron because it had very good reviews. I've used it twice since i got it and am not thrilled with the results, maybe it's because the hair needs to be blow dryed REALLY good for it to work and i'm not good at doing it myself, anyways the two times i've tried to straighten my hair with Solia my hair comes out straight buy freezy not straight and smooth like from the salon and it does not stay straight for days like it does whenever they straighten it with the iron my hair dresser has (which i'm going to ask the name to buy it ) Overall Solia is a bit better than the regular iron from Kmart but it did not perform like i expected and definetly not according to its price.
