I HAVE A SALONO FLAT IRON..IT WAS TOO HEAVY FOR ME TO USE FREQUENTLY..SO I PURCHASED THE 1 3/4 INCH SOLIA..ITS LIGHTWEIGHT..AND I FEEL MY HAIR IS ALOT MORE SILKY THAN WITH THE SALONO..I HAVE READ COMMENTS FROM SOME PEOPLE SAYING THEIR HAIR WASNT SILKY..MY HAIR IS SOOOO THICK AND VERY COARSE..ITS ALSO VERY CURLY AND SOME PLACES REALLY WAVY..WHEN YOU HAVE HAIR LIKE THIS A FLAT IRON WILL WORK..BUT YOU DEFINITELY STILL WILL NEED A PRODUCT TO PUT ON YOUR HAIR TOO..I USE CREAMS WITH SILK ..LIKE BACK TO BASICS GREEN TEA SILK GROOMING CREAM..LOTS OF PRODUCTS WORK..JUST A MATTER OF TRIAL AND ERROR WITH YOUR HAIR..GOODL LUCK..HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL
Good but there are better...

This is a good straightener, but there are better ones out there just for a few dollars more. I was at the salon the other day and the stylist got a really good one with flatter plates and much lighter for $135.
It's ok, but very far from a beauty salon blow dry

Unfortunatly it doesn't work as good as I thought it would. It's harder to make my hair straight and when I do it never looks like after professional blow dry.
Awesome

This straightener is AMAZING. I have very curly, thick, coarse, long hair and it usually took me 40 mins. to straighten all my hair. I used this straightener for the first time, and it took me 10 mins! and it straightened my hair fast and great! it left my hair smooth, silky, soft, and usually my hair shows my curls at the end of the day, but they didn't show up at all when I used this flat iron!! I would recommend this product to anyone!! If you have hair like mine, this is for you!! Yes its a little pricy, but its WORTH IT!! the shipping was fast and I LOVE THIS FLAT IRON! LOL!
From this point of view!

I have had yuko system straightened hair for almost a year now, and guess what, my curly, poofy (if not taken care of) hair is growing back. I really don't want to chemically straighten my hair again because I'm 15 years old, and I kinda don't know how long that will last for me. So i decided to purchase a solia flat iron. It had by far, the best reviews, and information. I have had my hair flat ironed reacently in a salon and I love the way it looked after wards! I hope the Solia will do that for me, and judging by the reviews I am expecting a lot. The whole it works when your hair is damp thing hooked me as well. And the one issue I have with it is that i have a little longer than shoulder length hair and I was between the Solia and the Babyliss 2 1/2 flat iron. But judging by those reviews, I decided that the babyliss wasn't a good choice. Even though I have a lot of hair its easy to manage, and looks good straightened. So hopefully 1 3/4 inches is good enough for me!

It was much easier to use than I anticipated. It just glides through my hair without snagging. Heats up very quickly. I can straighten my long hair in less than 15 minutes.
So Pleased

I am so pleased w/this product. I havent' had a relaxer in quite some time and was about to get one when I found out I was pregnant. My doctor is against me using any chemicals in my hair at this time so I decided I would keep it braided or use the flat iron. I work in the court system so the braids don't look all that great.
I read the reiviews and brought one while I was three months pregnant, so by this time I have been needing a relaxer for about 4 or 5 months. I can't express to you how suprised I was by the results. My hair can get straight from the roots and as long as I wrapp my hair I only need to use it once a week when I wash my hair.
I even tried it on my younger sister when she came to visit for Memorial day, she has extremely thick and long hair and she was impressed too. She told me she thinks she may have to get one, but wanted to make sure she was pleased b/f she spent that much on a hair item. She went back home and called me the next day (out of state) to tell me she wrapped her hair that night and when she took it out in the morning it looks better than when she goes to the salon to get her hair done. Needless to say she placed an order also.
I would recommend this for any woman, especially and Afrian American woman, you will not be disapointed.
***I suggest you use a protectant on your hair, I use Beyond the Zone, Turn up the Heat (something like that) you can get it @ Sally's Beauty Salon for a couple of dollars.)
OMG this is the bestest straightener EVER!

i have long thick coarse asian hair, slightly wavy. i never felt the need to starighten my hair but after i moved to hawaii, i found that the humidity made my hair frizzy. because i don't like spending too much time infornt of the mirror or getting ready, i was very skeptical to pay so much for a flat iron. i did some research online for a week and decided on the solia. here is what i learned:
pros:
i have VERY thick long hair but i was able to straighten my hair in 10-15 minutes! amazing!!
easy to use.
hair stays straight, flowing and never turns frizzy.
cons:
it does NOT make your hair silky. i've only used it a few times but i can tell already that it's drying out my hair. for now i don't mind but i know over time my hair will be burnt so i only use this on special occasions.
all in all a good buy and i am keeping mine :)
Best straightener I've ever used

I don't have a picture but my hair is naturally curly! I straighten it often and I was hesitant to order online, but I will never use another straightener again! It's quick, convient, and leaves your hair feeling and looking gorgeous!
Pleasantly Surprised

After a conversation with my hairdresser, she recommended replacing my flat iron with a ceramic flat iron. I did a little reviewing and purchased this iron. I was admittedly skeptical, but after the first use, completely sold. Not only was there a HUGE difference in the softness and striaghtness of my hair, the results lasted longer. My roomate commented on my hair and said it looked healthier. Overall, a good recommendation and a great buy!
This straightener is way better than chi!!!

Oh my goodness. I am so thankfull that I have this straightening iron. I have tried two other brands, the vidal sasoon ceramic, which did get my hair straight, but as soon as i walked outside my hair went, POOF, again. And my other one i had was called Elite Ceramic, which also worked well, but did the same thing, and with both of these straightening irons i would have to go over about 15-20+ times to get it to my approval. I went to the salon and i got my hair cut and my stylist(who is awesome!!) straightened my hair with a chi.it was fabulous, and i thought i would never ever get anything better, and i have very thick, coarse, curly, frizzy, out of control hair! it is horrible. i wanted to buy a chi but when my mom got online she saw this one was rated higher, so we got it.And i love it, my hair is silky, shiny, and fabulous. PLEASE BUY THIS STRAIGHTENER! it works so so so well, and i dont use any produc. Oh, and humidity? who cares about that anymore! not me! not with this straighteneing iron. trust me, you deserve it!!!

Works well, but the 1 inch works a little better. My friend has the 1 inch Solia straightner and her's straigtens better, but this one is better for curling. I guess it just depends on what you are looking for.
it does work

I looked at all the reviews on the flat irons from Folica.com and other websites. This iron is well worth the money. I had bought a $50 iron first, I took it back to the beauty supply store, after receiving the Solia. I used it just one time and that was enough to see the difference!! Folica.com was great. There were no problems with the payment or shipping.
