I had put off buying a good quality iron for a while due to the high price but I am so glad I finally got this one. It's fabulous! I have really thick hair and this iron works perfectly on it.
A solid little flat iron

I've had my flat iron for a couple weeks now and it has been a solid performer if you follow the instructions...... like not set it too high for your hair type or try to cram too much hair at one time through the flat iron. I think that is the mistake many have made using this appliance. Also, and this is common sense too, make sure you are using a hair protectant on your hair while using the flat iron.
There is a time or two that I have to run the flat iron over a particular section of hair twice, because I have a stubborn wave here or there in otherwise straight caucasian hair. But I am also please to report that when it rains after my using the flat iron my hair doesn't frizz out. This may not be the best flat iron out there but for the price and the value I get out of it, this was an extremely worthwhile purchase.
Not worth the $$$$

I could have gotten just as good of a flat iron at walmart. It was to big to manuver very well and did not clamp down as much as i would have liked.
Solia Flat iron

This is a great flat iron! I researched and read many reviews before deciding between the Sedu, T3 by HairArt, and the Solia. Even though the Sedu wss rated #1, after reading loads of reviews, I decided to go with the Solia for a few reasons. One of the deciding factors was that the plates on the Solia reach a higher temperature (450 degrees F) than many of the other flat irons, making it better for thicker, hard to manage hair. Also, a few people mentioned that the Sedu sometimes got too hot to hold if set at high temps. This is not a problem with the Solia. Also, with this iron, you are able to flip the ends of your hair or even make curls. Still another great thing about the Solia is its "self adjusting plates"- while it holds your hair firmly, it doesn't pull or snag it. This was a problem with the T3 by Hair Art. I actually bought the T3 and the Solia and ended up returning the T3 for this reason. I am extremely happy with my Solia flat iron! I have been flat-ironing my daughter's hair, my niece's hair, along with my own. It works on great on any type of hair, from thin and curly, to thick and wavy, unruly, course, and hard to manage! This flat iron is definitely worth the price. It's a bargain compared to the other top-rated irons. The Solia is definitely a keeper. I even bought 2 sizes!

I never thought i would be so pleased with my purchase. I used it on my co-worker who has curly hair (like a sheep) down to her roots! She had mousse and gel in her hair and it still came out pin straight with just one pass of the Solia iron over her hair. I was amazed! I don't have any pics yet but i will be submitting them soon. I recommend this iron to everyone!
Buy this one!! Believe me!

I reviewed so many of these irons, my stylist had used a chi on my hair and I loved it...I really didn't want to spend the money on the chi and this one had excellent reviews. It really is true that if your hair is normally left dry and frizzy after normal irons, this one will not leave it that way!! It leaves it soft and smooth. I live in Florida where it is extremely hot and humid right now and normally my hair is a wavy frizzy mess....and I mean mess!! Not after using this thing. Believe me it..it really works!

I just rec'd this product and I am impressed! I've been using a cheapy iron from the drug store but when I used this one, the cheapy went bye-bye.
I have very thick curly natural hair and I just started using flat irons. I wish I had done this a lot sooner.
I love the adjustable temperature and the heat makes it so much faster to straighten. It took me 5 mins to straighten my lioness mane of frizz as opposed to 1/2 hr with the store bought one.
I couldnt imagine buying a more expensive iron as this is perfect for me. I can find no fault with it.
The plates do get hot so be careful! I wasnt expecting that amount of heat!! Love it!
not what I expected

My sister and I both used this flat iron. I have very thick dry curly hair, she has thick soft wavy hair. It did straighten but not any better or quicker than the Revlon Gold series we originally started with from Walmart. We also have a Hot Tools flat iron (cost about $30) that works just as well. The only thing this has going for it could be that it doesn't damage your hair as much. But even that we are not sure of yet. All in all it is good but not worth the extra money.
I LOVE my hair!

I am 36 and I suddenly have naturally wavy hair. Not enough curl though to wear it that way. It's also frizzy and just wavy in certain spots of my head. I did my research on flat irons and chose the Solia based on the customer reviews. And after using extremely expensive shampoos and conditioners, serums and gels and am happy to say NO MORE! My Solia flat iron is the smartest purchase I have ever made! It not only straightens my hair perfectly but it also leaves it so soft as if I just had it perfessionally conditioned. I especially love the wrap around edge to make my ends curve under just right. The best part is that instead of an spending an hour and a half on my hair it now takes me about 20 minutes!

My daughter loves this tool! She has used a variety of them in a wide range of prices. This one is the easiest and most versatile. She especially likes the fast heat and the way her hair doesn't seem abused when she's done.

This is a great item for those of us who don't want to keep paying others for what we can do ourselves. I have very long, curly, and chemically treated hair. I use it while my hair is dry with only some silk therapy or conditioner to protect my hair from the heat. It leaves my hair silky smooth and straight as an arrow.
I highly recommend it. It's worth the money.

Wish I had been educated sooner. Damaged my hair with a cheap iron!! It was worth every penny. I love the Solia. It gets hot quick and my hair feels great and looks great. Lots of compliments come my way. If they only knew just how damaged my hair really is. I am hoping to regain that health now that I have a quality iron!! Also saves me tremendous time getting ready!

I started off trying the Sedu iron, as it had such great reviews. It didn't keep my hair stright throughout the day, which did not work for me. I thought I would then try the Solia iron, as the reviews seemed to be okay. This iron worked MUCH BETTER, but it seems as though it is drying my hair out. I am in a hat and dry area, so keeping the moisture in my hair, from my daily cleanings should not be stripped. If you are looking for just an average iron, I would say this one is just OKAY....nothing great. I think I may stick with the "old faithful" CHI iron that I used a few years back, and loved it. I thought I would try something new, since the Chi iron came out, but I don't think they work as well.
EXCELLENT!!!!!!

When I first picked up (literally, not figuratively) this flat iron, my first thougt was that it was too lightweight and probably will not work on my hair - was I wrong. It has been great! I have very wavy hair and after using this flat iron, I can wake up in the morning and the only thing I may have to do is a little touch up on the stubborn wavy hair underneath. I couldn't be happier.

I have very thick, coarse hair and this flat iron straightened it right out! The iron has a wide range of temperature settings. Because of my hair type, I higher setting works best for me. The iron is very fat. I only need to go over it once. No pulling or tugging!
