I just bought the solia and it is awesome. I have very wavy Dominican hair which I love and I don't relax it or have any chemicals in it. I usually leave my hair curly and the only time I was able to get pin straight hair was at the salons. I have had three previous flat irons, the first was a $35 ceramic tools iron from Sallys which worked well
but my hair got stuck on the sides and it would pull it out and when it got humid out my hair would get crazy. I traded it in at the time for a digital tourmaline iron from tool science ($75) which worked well but the handle burnt my hand while I styled my hair. I then bought the
maxiglide which my best friend highly recommended and it didn't really make my hair straight, the pins pulled my hair and it was also very heavy. Last but not least I traded the maxiglide in to folica for the solia after ten months and much research and it leaves my hair pin straight in one stroke!! It doesn't burn my hand or my hair and it
definitely doesn't pull it. I live in Florida and no matter what the weather is like my hair stays straight until I make it curly. Folica also made it extremely easy to return my maxiglide since I was still under warranty. I am solia's new fan! I've straightened all of my girlfriend's hair with different hair types (curly Puerto Rican hair to thick Korean hair) and they all loved it too. I highly recommend this iron if you want straight hair that will last and won't be damaged. It's worth every penny!!

I am one of the rare asians with naturally long thick and ultimately wavy hair. It takes about 3-4 hours for a professional to do my hair and it costs be about $90+ just to blow dry my hair straight at the salon depending on the hair salon and its location. One salonist insulted me and lectured me about my hair being damaged and how I "have no respect" for my hair. I never went to THAT salon again! Granted I live in New York City, I searched and searched for salons that are not as popular in hopes I'd get a cheap deal. Hadn't found one until this day. ANYWAYS, for my 22nd Birthday I asked my dad to buy me this Solia hair straightener. He asks, "Are you sure you don't want something else? What makes you think this straightener will work this time around?" Unwilling to give up my search for the perfect straightener, I said "If it doesn't work, I'll never ask you for a hair straightener again!" What made me buy this were the pictures I saw of other ladies and their experiences with have the uncontrollable hair like me.
I received this Solia straightener within less than 2 weeks and tried it! Now it only takes me about 25-30 minutes to get my hair straightened with the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron. Of course since my hair is very long, I purchased the 1.75" one. I recommend this to anybody who has long, thick, curly/wavy hair! If your hair is shorter, buy one with a smaller plate! Also, Folica.com is really the best web store to purchase hair products!

I have been using lots of different kinds of hair straigtners for the longest time from the Chi to Paul Mitchell. I finally found something at a reasonable price and that works wonders. I just wash my hair and let it air dry or blow dry it quickly if I am in a rush then I use the Solia straightner and WOW what a big difference. No matter rain or shine my hair stays silky straight. Here is a picture of my daughter and my sister after the use of the Solia. Oh, and let me let you know they both have very tight thick curly hair.

In my opinion, this straightener has worked very well for my hair. I got it about a month ago. I'm a person that has naturally very thick and curly hair. It used to take me atleast an hour to straighten my hair everyday with my old straighter. It also damaged my hair greatly. But now, with the Solia straightener, it only takes me 20 minutes! It takes no longer than 30 seconds to heat up. It also makes my hair very smooth and soft. I have gotten many compliments on how healthy my hair looks now. I am very pleased with the results of this straightener, and I hope it will last a long time.
I LOVE THIS STRAIGHTENER!

I stay in New Orleans and the humidity is usually very high. I think its because we are below sea level but its hard to keep your hair straight out here but this iron shows me other wise. This is the first iron that gets my hair really straight. I would compare this solia iron to a hot comb because its really good. i dont know whats so different about it but it works. I just was my hair every 2 weeks and iron it. When i use the iron i divide my hair in to small sections about 3 inches w/ and 1 inch think. i cover it with coco oil conditioner. next i take the brush and run it thur it as i run the flat iron at the same time so the iron does not heat any naps. Here is the results.

My mom recently bought me this straightener for my birthday and I absolutely love it. It is so nice it just runs through my hair so smoothly and with all my other straighteners I HAD to put what felt like 10 pounds of heat tamer in my hair so my hair wouldn't fry but with the solia it is so nice because it makes my hair so smooth without frying it. Its funny because my roommates are obsessed with it as well and so they are always in my room using it because it is that good.

Let me start by saying that I live in Columbia, SC where it is hot and humid 100% of the time. My hair has always been really thick, curly, unmanageable-italian hair. Last year I started exploring different ways to straighten my hair and started by going to my hairdresser and paying $25.00 to flat iron my hair--for a salon it wasn't bad but it only lasted 2-3 days. My solia was the first flat iron I had ever owned and when my stylist used it my hair was flatter faster. I couldn't be happier with the amazing results this product gave- and still gives me today. I have had it for over a year and a half and it still works brilliantly. THANKS SOLIA!

P.S. I've found that using hot rollers/curlers before I flat iron really helps cut down straightening time and helps cut down on frizz also... :)

Read the Reviews and decided this was the one. Shippping was super quick. I can honestly say its better than the Conair Pro I have been using. I have am multiethnic and my hair is fine but its naturally curly. I don't have any chemicals in my hair except my highlites. I usually blow my hair dry and flat iron. Definitely get hot enough and make hair soft&shiny. This might be the best investment of 2007 so far...

I have extremely thick and curly hair. I have used tons of other straigteners, but this is by far the best. It straightens my hair within 30 minutes. My hair looks great, and shinny! It's smooth and makes me feel so much better about myself!! I highly recommend this straightener to anyone!!

this flat iron is the best thing i have EVER used. i have really thick wavy-ish hair, and ALOT of it, so i decided to buy a professional flat iron. Before that, I used a cheap conair iron, and it did not take me long to figure out that the walmart iron wasn't working for me. After reading tons of reviews, I finally decided to buy the solia 1-3/4. It made my hair so straight, silky, soft, and shiny! And it stays that way ALL DAY LONG, even when its humid out! Folica.com has unbeatable prices on all their flat irons, and delivery was extremely fast (2days). The first time I used it, I got so many compliments from my friends, and even random people. So many people told me my hair looks like its from a Pantene Pro-V commercial. I get compliments for my hair ALL THE TIME now that i use the solia. Its totally worth $100!!

Purchased this about 5 mo's ago and hair straightens easily with no pulling! I have very thick coarse hair and this straightener does the job, I dont recommend using it everyday for damaging reasons.

My new hair straightener cut my styling time AT LEAST in half. It usually took an hour to straighten my fluffy, frizzy hair, but with the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron I spent 20 minutes on my hair the last time I straightened it.

After using the Solia 1-3/4" Ceramic Flat Iron one time I could definitely see a difference in my hair. The iron glided smoothly through my hair without any pulling and my hair felt silky afterwards. Although my other flat iron got my hair just as straight, I believe the Solia will keep my hair heathier because of the even heat distribution.
I kinda expected more..

Ok so im a perfectionist when it comes to straightening my hair. I was able to make my hair almost perfect w/ my crappy flat iron- so when i bought the Solia, i was expecting nothing short of flawless. THIS IS A GREAT FLAT IRON (dont get me wrong), but don't expect any miracles. My hair looks beautiful- but you might be able to find a cheaper flat iron that works similarly.

When I first read the reviews for the solia hair straightener last year in october, i immediately fell in love with it. I new i had to have it. So it was the only thing i asked for my birthday. And i used it for prom as well, in the pictures above. Considering i live in florida, where its humid, my hair is thick, curly, and long. It gets real frizzy. But with solia i dont use any hair shiners or softeners or anything, my hair just comes out thin straight. I love it. But theres another one that is as good as solia. And its the maxiglide. I reccommend it to all types of hair. And when i mean all types, i mean ALL TYPES.

My teen years were troubled with name calling and bigotry. I had no friends and no guy in his right mind would touch me, even with a 10 foot pole.
