I was pretty skeptical and even a bit nervous ordering this straightener. I'm not usually an online shopper, and I like seeing things before buying themt. Originally I wanted to buy a Chi, but when I found this website, I saw that the Solia 1" was the best-selling. The price seemed reasonable and shipping and handling was free, so I decided to give it a try. The product came in the mail within 4 business days just like the website said, and I absolutely love it. It works wonders for my hair. My hair is usually pretty straight, but most of the time I go to bed with wet hair and wake up with annoying, wavy hair. This straightener heats up almost instantly, and I don't even have to brush my hair before using it because it smoothes my hair gently. It's not damaging at all, and it even leaves my hair feeling softer. I absolutely love the Solia straightener, it works just as well (if not better) than my friend's $100+ straightener, and I definitely recommend using it.
This is GREAT!

The best flat iron out there! I've had this for about 2 months now, and I LOVE IT. I received an email from Folica and decided to write another review with pictures for people to see how AMAZING this flat iron is. It makes my hair straight and shiny in less time than my usual styling w/my cheap iron. It also doesn't pull my hair while straightening. It's a good product & I haven't had any problems w/it at all!

I like this product very much I've used a lot of different irons and this one really does what it says it will. I like the fact that it doesn't snag my hair the way other irons do. It also makes my hair so smooth....Its really great! And since I live in a very humid place my hair gets really frizzy but when I use this iron, no frizz!

This is a fabulous product (I bought this style and the travel version). In about 5 minutes I can transform my out-of-control nightmare into a silky smooth straight dream. And, unless it gets wet, it stays that way until I shampoo. Even sleeping on it doesn't destroy the look. And it hasn't damaged my hair! I used to need a lot of conditioners and gels. Now I just wash, use a regular conditioner, dry, straighten and I'm set to go. Couldn't be happier!!!

This iron worked fantastically. It goes up to 450 degrees. My other iron, the Hai Convertable Ceramic Flat Iron, only goes up to 400 degrees. This iron was great - I was able to get my hair straight and smooth in one stroke. I once bought the $190 Japanese ceramic flat iron, but I returned it because it didn't work that well. This Solia iron is much cheaper and works a whole lot better!
Solia versus the true ceramic pro, the Chi, the ISINIS and the conanair steam iron

I recently bought a Solia iron, and at the same time that it arrived my true ceramic pro showed up in the mail that I had ordered 3 full months ago! I called true ceramic prior to ordering the Solia and they said they had no record of me, my solia on the other hand showed up after just 4 days, and shipping was free, not $20!
I decided to compare both to decide which to keep, I used one on each side. Each one worked the same, they both made my hair really soft, and shiny, and so healthy looking, and I didn’t have to blow dry my hair before doing so which I use to have to do wt my ISINIS ceramic iron, and my conair steam iron (both of which didn’t compare to these two), plus I didn’t even have to wait till my hair was fully dry, I did it on damp hair.
The bonus of true ceramic was it came wt a brush that made my hair extra soft and shiny, and a free shine spray. But the spray isn’t much better then the citrus shine spray I buy for $3 anyways! Neither of them made my hair perfect after just one run through, but they did after a few runs and it didn’t take much time at all for perfect hair. Plus its been three days now and my hair is as straight as ever. The Solia cost me $88US and the ceramic about $140, so since they both worked the same Id definitely buy the Solia (especially since the Solia came in 3 versus 100 days!). I haven’t tried the Sedu unfortunately because I would have liked to compare it as well since its rated number one, but solia and Sedu are both tourmaline so I don’t suspect that it would be any different.
I also had bought the 1” Chi iron a while ago, I loved how it made my hair look as well, (Id say it tied wt the solia and true ceramic), but after using it a couple of times my hair got really dry and dead looking so I returned it. It might not have been the Chi’s fault through because I realized after that I had changed shampoos and after I stopped using both, my hair pretty much recovered. I cant say whether or not my Solia will make my hair damaged because I’ve only used it that once but I don’t think it will, I’m pretty sure all of the 100% ceramic and Tourmaline irons are pretty gentle on your hair, and that my shampoo was the culprit.
Another thing that I really liked about the solia, is that it ran right through my hair and never snagged or broke my fragile ends, and I didn’t have to let it sit on any spot to get it to go straight, I could just run it right through. Also it heated up really quickly!
Two final things, first I preferred the solia over the chi because it came wt a temperature control button and the chi didn’t. And finally, I always thought that the bigger the iron the quicker it would straighten, especially since I have really long hair, but the solia was a bit larger then the chi and true ceramic and they all did the same, (although my hair isn't supper thick), so id suggest getting a smaller one (the size of the solia or smaller: 1.5 inch and less), since you can then do more things with them, like make waves.
So I if your deciding between a cheap knock off and the real thing, go for the real thing, any 100% ceramic, or Tourmaline iron will be much better then the others. And if you cant decide which of the top irons to choose from I'd go for the Solia since it was the most affordable, it came quickly, it worked extremely well (every bit as much as the chi if not better) and as far as my experience goes Folica is a very reputable seller.
Hope this extremely long letter was helpful!

this hair straightener is awesome !! i love it so much, i use it every day and my hair doesn't even get damanged. but some days it doesn't stay straight, every day is different for me. the cord for it could be a little bit longer though. and after a while it takes a lottle longer for the light to start blink (which means its hot). But over all i think this is a great product and everyone out there should at least try it !!

I LOVE THIS IRON!!! I USED TO OWN A TURBO CHI UNTIL ONE DAY IT JUST STOPPED WORKING...DESPERATE TO GET ANOTHER ONE I BOUGHT A HOT TOOLS CERAMIC FLAT IRON AND IT WAS OK BUT IT YANKD MY HAIR AND DIDN'T GET MY HAIR AS STRAIT AS I WOULD LIKT IT TO BE. NOW I HAVE THE SOLIA AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I HAVE VERY THICK WAVEY CORSE HAIR AND WITH THIS IRON MY HAIR LOOKS BABY SOFT. I CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS IRON TO MY FRIENDS NOR CAN I STOP TOUCHING MY HAIR. I'VE BEEN BRINGING THIS IRON TO THE OFFICE WHEN THE BOSSES ARE NOT AROUND AND THE GIRLS LOVE IT. ITS A GREAT PRICE TOO!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. IT WORKS MIRIACLES.

I have used very expensive and very cheap irons and this one rates "worth the money" in my opinion. I have fragile bleach blonde hair and the plates were very smooth to use with no drags and pulls. It is heavier than my other "pricey" iron but after a few trys I found it gave me better control.

I am so pleased with this product, that I HAD to post before and after PICTURES. No one seems to believe what this straightener can do!!!! My hair is very long, curly and CRAZY!!!
HOW I DID IT:
1. started from wet hair, put up into 5 small sections. (2 back, 1 top, 2 sides.)
2. Added smoothing creme to each section. Anything will work really, I then blow dryed each section before using the straightner. Nothing fancy, just made it crazy frizzy and huge!
3. Then I took each section down one at a time, and ironed at 450 degrees. Keep in mind my hair is THICK. HUGE! I had to run the Iron through a couple times before it was STICK straight. But the nice thing about this iron is that you can get to the root, and you dont have any crazy curly pieces hiding at the back of your head!
4. After straighting each section, I would then make a small curl at the bottom, by simply flipping the iron under or out as I was going down the piece. That way the hair isnt so stick straight, and has more of a natural look.
5. For the sections on the very top of my head, I did it like the last pic, demonstrating straightening in front of face to create volume.
More flowing and gorgeous! My hair dresser taught me that trick.
6. Vola@!@ The best product ever!!!!!!

The Solia flat iron was a super buy. I had a CHI used on my hair recently and loved the results, so I decided to purchase a flat iron. At first I wanted a CHI because that is what was recommended to me, but I also wanted to research flat irons before I dropped $100 or more dollars on one. I discovered that the CHI has numerous techical problems from shorting out to the plates falling out. I came across this Solia and after reading about 300 of the reviews I decided to purchase this iron. It works well. I can't give a rave review b/c this is the first time I've really used a flat iron. I does work a million times better than the El-Cheapo Conair one I snagged at Wal-Mart last year and used all of 5 times because it SUCKED and it ripped half my hair out. I do want to praise FOLICA.COM for the fast and friendly service. I also would like to inform others who are looking to purchase flat irons to be sure and use a styling product that helps protect your hair. Anything that you use on you hair that requires heat will damage your hair. A good shampoo and conditioner is Biolage and I bought Straight Solution by Hask that is specifically designed for use with a ceramic flat iron. Also, for those who are whining about the plates not "moving", use some common sense. I checked mine out as soon as it came out of the box and the plates do pivot, it's just not dramatic as the picture seems to show.. it's subtle.
better than the chi

I am a hair stylist and have bought a lot of junk, And have used the best . Until i decided to check out flat irons on the net. I come across the Solia. I was not sure if i wanted the Chi or the Solia Iron, so i started to read the reviews. They all sounded very good so i decided to go with Solia. I have used the Chi before. So i have seen what it can do, It was a "good" iron , but i would never own anything else. It blows the Chi away. I have only owned my Solia iron for 3 weeks and have already sold people on them. They bought one. I , as a stylist recommend this iron for all hair textures, legnths, and densities. The is no job too big for this thing.

My last relaxer for some reason left a strange wavy crimp in my hair and my old flat irons (3/4" Conair, 1 3/4" Curlmaster Select) just couldn't cut it well enough. So I bought what I thought was a Bio Ionic through eBay. Hopefully their products aren't as lousy as the thing I bought! Not only did it get obnoxiously hot and refuse to lower in temp, but it fried my ends and on top of all that it didn't get the crimp out! So after researching, I settled on a Sedu, but read that the casing gets very hot (another problem with the Bion knock-off). Well, I have to put the iron practically against my scalp to straighten my roots, so that was a no-go as well. I came across the Solia, read the reviews, was impressed. I bought it on Tuesday and got it Friday morning (yay for free shipping!), tried it out Friday evening and my hair is one silky bob, let me tell you. This is a great flat iron (even took care of those frizzy ends!), and I fully reccomend it. Do your homework on the others, but this one's a fantastic choice.

I got my Solia a couple of years ago and it rocks! I have coarse, thick, wavy hair and this iron makes my hair look and feel shiny and healthy. Its design allows me to curl and flip my hair any way I want and heats up fast.
The temperature settings allow me to adjust the heat so it's not so hot when I straighten my bangs. It's easy to handle and my hair doesn't get caught in it like my old Babyliss straightener which lasted me a only year.
I definitely recommend this product!

This straightener was really good, my hair is frizzy, and curly but it stayed straight, even when there was lots of mist. I don't like that the handle area got hot, making it difficult to fix my hair.
