My sister bought it first, and now 2 years later my other sister bought it, today my other sister and my best friend are buy in it. both of them had the CHI iron, my sisters chi iron broke in half after 4 years of use and she took extreme care of hers also my best friend chi iron after 2 years it shorted out, so i convinced my friend to buy it after she tried our Solia, my other sister went and bought another CHI for 120 wich you can get it here for 80.00 and yesterday she returned because it was pulling on her hair... so SOLIA IS THE BEST..
I am hispanic, I have LONG, THICK, THICK, WAVY, CURLY, FRIZZY hair, I love the Solia because ever since I started using it my hair became more healthier, and this iron does no damage to my hair, takes the frizz out and it last for days.. I just love it...!! thank you folica for selluing this wonderful iron...

I was looking for a good ceramic straightner under $100, and I first ordered the 1 inch solia, I loved it but I felt it was a too small for my taste, so before the 30 days were up I returned it and quickly placed my order for the 1 1/4 inch solia.The people at folica are really nice and everything turned out perfect. Overall yes the solica is a great it heats up fast and stays hot, I don't really straighten my hair often but when I do its a breeze and my friends like to use it all the time. Buy it!

I got it a month or so ago. And I was pretty excited.
It works really well, and it used to take me 20 minutes to straighten my hair and it takes 5-10 minutes now. It's awesome, and it heats up really fast. While it's heating up, I can dress, then run it through my hair and I can be out the door! It can curl my hair and with my THICK ASIAN hair, it can hold the curl in. It held it all day once, without hairspray so I was pretty happy

I had this flat iron for 2 years and NEVER had a problem with it. There were even a few times that I left it on all day by accident and it still worked like a charm. It never got dirty either. This flat iron works wonders on my frizzy hair with VERY kinky curls. I'm dominican, AND a hair stylist. So I know how important a good flat iron can be. I had the flat iron stolen last weekend. So I thought about getting a different new one.. but I changed my mind because I would rather stick with what works. And it has never damaged my hair!
In the pictures, the top one is my hair after flat ironing it... the bottom one is an older picture that kind of shows my hair curly. But even in this picture you can't get the full display of my kinky hair. The pictures is my hair after I TRIED styling it curly.

My daughter is half Filipino and half African American. Her hair has been such a nightmare for me. I just didn't know how to deal with all the craziness. She would wake up in the morning looking like Hagrid from Harry Potter, it was horrible. Her self esteem was getting affected with it, and I felt bad because I just didn't know to fix it :( So we always just greased it and put it in a pony tail. That's the only way that it would look good and not poof up.
We visited family members and my cousin owned a Solia, and swore she will do wonders with my daughters hair. So, I let her take my daughter to the bedroom, and when she came out, my mouth dropped to the ground. Her hair was straight as can be, and shiny. It was as if the crazy, frizzy, kinky hair never existed. I was SOLD!!! As soon as I got home, I purchased one for her, and she absolutely loves her hair. I can tell from her attitude that it helped her self esteem a lot too.
Unfortunately for someone who is such a big fan of this product, it crapped out on me. We plugged it in one day and it just wouldn't come on. We tried several different plugs at home and it just wasn't working. It was very disappointing that I only had it for 2 months and it's already a non working unit. Fortunately, it has a 1 year warranty. So they told me to send it back for a replacement, but I had to pay for shipping cost, etc. I just sent it back today, so we'll see.
Aside from that, I really love it!
I hope they send me a better unit. One that will last me a while.
P.S. I could've shown an after picture of her long hair being straight and shiny, but I thought the fact that she got her dream haircut (Rihanna haircut-proves more of a point on what wonder this product can do), even though the beauty salon lady was against it, telling us that her hair is not made to be cut like that, cuz it will poof up. We got them to cut it anyway, and we straigtened it with Solia, and returned to the beauty shop to prove them wrong and they were all amazed and impressed.
I would highly recommend this product to people who's had to deal with frizzy, kinky, unmanageable hair. I can't wait to get mine back. I wouldn't want to do without it.

This is a very good straightener in my opinion. I used it at 450 degrees, and it cut about 30 minutes off my straightening time while doing a very good job. It's not perfect: my hair still shines like it's been straightened, and I don't know what to do about all those fuzzies on top of my head, though those things could be due to the health of my hair? I'm not certain. Anyway. Picture one is my normal, very curly hair. Picture two is my hair dried and brushed out, prior to straightening. Three and four are... after using this straightener. (I know I'm no model.)

I read through tons of reviews before purchasing this flat iron. I've had a few 40 dollar flat irons and they weren't working for me so I decided to buck up and spend a little cash on one that might work better.
I have average wavy hair and I have a LOT of it. After using the Solia my hair was definitely straight and smooth. It didn't look stick straight like I had most definately, without a doubt use a flat iron. It looked natural which I liked. However, it took a little longer to straighten it than I expected. Although it's better than the other irons I have bought before it was not the miracle worker some of the reviews say it is, but it works well for what I need it for. I use it on the highest setting, and it gets hot enough, but I really don't think it heats up to 450 degrees. I live in humid, muggy South Georgia and it takes me around 10 minutes to straighten my hair. My hair pretty much stays straight unless it is pouring down rain. It's great for touch ups and I feel like I don't have to wash my hair everyday anymore. Some advantages: It has adjustable temperature. My hair never snags. It heats up quickly. It makes my hair smooth and shiny. Some disadvantages: It's a little pricey. It leaves a slight smell after using it.
*I would recommend using a heat protectant product. I find my hair gets damaged quicker because of the high heat settings.
Overall, I would purchase this flat iron again. Folica.com is amazing and the customer service is impeccable.

So i ordered my solia and i got it like in 5 days...i was scared to try it because of past experiences but i tried it and i was amazed on how good it works.It leaves your hair so straight and it feels so light. It also gives it a very nice shine...i love it.....i highly recommend it!!! BUY IT...dont buy the Chi buy the solia...!!

I used to use a revlon straight iron, it ended up shorting out or something but catches fire inside if i turn it on now. i got my solia iron almost 2 years ago and its my best friend now! the first time i used it i was shocked at the results, it was amazing! i can make my hair pin straight, curl the ends, or get the perfect "celeb. curls."

This product is AMAZING! It works for black hair, white hair, asian, hispanic, it works for every type of hair! I am black and for many black women, having hair problems is very common. Many black women are sometimes at a loss as to what will work for their hair--I have found the answers!!! I wash/condition my hair daily (I don't use any leave in conditioners--just go all natural)I also use Aphogee 6 week protein treatment for damaged hair (which can be bought at folica as well) and NEVER EVER use oils or greases (excpet V05 hot oil treatments, but that is washed out)! When I blow dry and straighten my hair I ONLY use Tresemme Heat Tamer. I have had the Solia for over 4 years now, but I am just finally getting to writing a review. This review is not only targeted at black women, but all women! All the products I have listed work wonders for all ethnicities. So if you are considering purchasing the Solia--DO IT! I also recommend purchasing Tresseme Heat Tamer and Aphogee protein treatment (keeps hair strong, especially when applying considerable amounts of heat to the hair). The added benefit of the Solia is that it allows you to wear both straight and curly styles using the same heat tool!

Since getting the Solia 1-1/4" flat iron about 3 weeks ago i have really enjoyed using it. I previously owned a CHI and i have to say I think I like this one better. I can set my own temperture which is great. It dosen't pull my hair which the CHI did time to time. The solia looks professional and the travle mat that came with it is awesome because i can use the straightner put it in the mat then right into my bag, and not having to worry about it needing to cool first. And the price is great! Cheaper than the CHI and in my opinion has better results. It seems like my hair is shinner and less knotted. So all in all great product!
Curly Hair? GET the Solia!

I have thinner, very curly hair. Humidity is always a downer when it comes to my hair but I already know the tricks of the trade when it comes to styling this stuff :) The thing is, I wanted a change every now and then. I LOVE my curly hair. I love that I can do a number of different styles with the length it is, etc. But straight was always a problem. I never got it truly silky straight. Now, with the Solia, it's a cinch! It is a wonderful advantage and an investment that I will encourage you to indulge in if you are looking for that extra mmmph that you are lacking, in hair straightening. I researched the Chi and the Sedu. Would have bought the Sedu if it weren't so stinkin' expensive. So, with the reviews, product description, and more than competitive pric of the Solia, I gave it a try. Much to my satisfaction, the Solia has proven worthy and the results on my curly hair are wonderful! I love it! Don't spend extra when you can get the Solia, a straightening balm, shine spray and a dependable brush all for the price of the more expensive flat iron that does exactly the same with no extra product. Get it all and look amazing!

As you can see, I have very very curly and frizzy hair. It's like a giant beast! My hair is my worst enemy. It is a tangled curly frizzy nappy monster! It is impossible to make it nice! HOW ON EARTH COULD I FIX THIS?!

my daughter has the thickest hair I have ever seen on a human & I was very leary to buy this product because I was not familiar with it. my daughters have 3-CHI straight irons in the house but she wanted her own & was a little short on money for a CHI so we went with this one do to the rave reviews & I am here to tell you it works better than the CHI does on her VERY thick coarse hair thank you & I would highly recommend this product to everyone & the price is so much better....

Wow. All I can say is this is really an amazing product. I had previously owned a chi which I had bought almost a year ago, and it pails in comparison. I have extremely, extremely curly, think, and just overall frizzy hair. I've had hairdressers refuse to straighten my hair after they've cut it because they "don't want to be there all day." Well, I can say my solia definitely does not take all day. It makes my hair so smooth and straight, I love it! After straightening it I went on a bike ride in the extremely humid upstate ny weather, and my hair wasn't affected at all! I love my solia!
Also, another thing worth mentioning is that folica is a very decent company. :D Not only did the product arrive barely two days after it was ordered, but shipping was free, and my solia came with a nifty carrying case and a little mirror with a thank you card from the company. That along with the awesomeness of the solia made my day. THANK YOU FOLICA! Next time I need any other hair products, I'll come here. :D

ok so i did my research on flat irons for like a year before i got this one. at first i was leaning towards buying a chi because my friend had one and she sweared by it. but i noticed that when i used her chi even with heat protection my hair smelled kinda like burnt hay or something like that. I finally went with the this one because it was more in my budget than the sedu and i had seen this folica site in my seventeen issue.
i only posted an after picture but normally my hair is curly and i like my curls but i have a lot of them and there not like afro curls either my hair is soft and sometimes frizzy. Since i live in texas the humidity is killer. I set the flat iron on the highest setting and i straightened my hair in like and hour. when i do my bangs it takes like two minutes and i set the hear at 300. After flat ironing my hair was silky and it looked flatter not voluminous like when my hair was curly. Oh and my hair didnt smell burnt at all. and the first day i wore it straight it rained and my hair was still stick straight even with all the humidity , i only had the tiniest bit of frizz. nothing that frizz balm didn't cure tho.
so yah i definetly recommend this product to anyone it beats a chi hands down.
ps- it doesnt snag your hair at all either. i forgot to mention that.

I needed another straightner and i've been through quite a few. im mixed with african-american and mexican and its hard to find an actual staightner that works instead of getting my hair pressed at a beauty shop. So i looked at many reviews and found this straightner for less than $90. ive spent over $100 on atleast 3 staightners that did not get hot like they said they would. when i recieved my staighnter i instanly noticed a difference when i plugged it in. It did get as hot as it said it would it straighnted my hair completely without making it frizzy staight. i LOVE this straighnter and reccommend it to anyone. I bought it in May and havent had any problems like i would normally would have with the other staightners that i've had.

Wow. My sister ordered this solia and I just had to see how it compared to my chi. My sister is so smart, she discovered this very useful website to help all of us better manage our frizzy-hair. Before that, I had assumed that my chi was pretty much the best straightner you could get, I now know better and will constantly check this site for help! This solia worked wonder on my hair, oh and my split ends are natural (I need to take care of that, hee hee)
