What can I add that the other ladies haven't already said? I read ALL the reviews ... but I have to say this: My hair HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER or felt as SOFT and SHINY since using the Solia 1.25" ... I had doubts about its ability to create such smooth hair (on my hair!) but after purchasing and using it I'm certainly a believer now! I've only had the Solia for two weeks and I'm now at the stage where I can't WAIT to wash and style my hair; before it was something I dreaded doing because it always meant frizzy hair and then hot rollers and then helmet head hairspray. The BEFORE pic is right after blow-drying (wanted to put it to the test on blow-dried hair!!) and the after pic is with a small amount of Biosilk Silk Therapy and finished off with Chi Shine Infusion. I also purchased from Folica the Crane hair clips and yes, even on my short hair it was worth it, to get to the underside layers! I also use the Biosilk Silk Therapy shampoo and the only thing locally purchased was the Tresemme Thermal Recovery Replinishing conditioner! My husband can't believe the difference not only in my hair, but in my self-esteem! To say I'm ecstatic is an understatement! I'm sure you'll appreciate the drastic difference in the before and after pictures. If you're doubting this flat iron's ability like I did, don't doubt it any more! I'm SOLD! Hope my review helps/encourages others to go ahead and JUST DO IT! Now, if only I could do something about the bags under my eyes! LOL! PS -- I can go for a couple of days inbetween washing/styling and that's something I COULD NEVER get away with prior to this purchase!!! :-)))))) Even after SLEEPING on it, it comes out looking just like the 'after' pic, I kid you not!!! :-))))))
Had it for a few years, still works

IT's a good iron, it does the job. I"ve had it for 2-3 years now...if not 4. And it still does the job, although not as good as i when i first got it, but that's expected. I've dropped it more than a dozen times and the plates looks like they're about to fall off (but still works! haha). I do recommend it because it's not expensive and its durable and easy to use. It's saved my life on numerous occasions. But for me, it's time for a change, I"m looking into buying the HR-Tourmaline, a lot of the salons are using it as their number 1 straightener. Solia was good to me, but it's time for a change. I really recommend you finding a good heat protector, i never used one and my hair got damaged (it's better now, but could use more help).
love it

I purchased the Solia about a month ago and I must say that I am satisfied. To give you an idea of my hair type...I am an African American woman with fine, shoulder length hair. I relax my hair maybe 2 - 3 times a year. My hair is I guess what is often referred to has the "good hair". For a hair product junkie like myself, the Solia definitely does what I expected. It is a smooth iron that straightens my hair with minimal effort. Not too bad with snagging and I definitely don't feel like I am burning my hair out when I use it. After reading post where consumers were dissatisfied with the quality of the iron, I was skeptical about purchasing but so far so good. The side piece fell off a while ago but it doesn't effect the operation of the iron so that's no biggie. It heats up really quickly and I love the little carrying case that Folica sends with the iron. All and all, it was worth the money spent. We all purchase products/appliances hoping that it will work miracles and we often get disappointed. The key to getting the hair you want is in buying quality products, really learning how to use/apply them and knowing what works best for YOUR hair. I have learned to not be afraid of my hair. I do my best to make healthy hair choices (minimizing heat, using heat protectant (something we rarely do in the African American hair community), drinking water, wrapping my hair at night, keeping my ends trimmed, etc). I think we all can have great hair. Buy the Solia, don't get frustrated (you'll become a flat iron expert soon) and don't expect a miracle at first...trust me it'll happen! Happy Hair Hunting!
FYI...Other hair products that I use are Aphogee Shampoo (for damaged hair), Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner (which is AMAZING), Sunsilk Heat Activated Detangler and BioSilk Silk Therapy.
Wonderful~

It works amazingly well. Of course, I was relieved that it didn't fry my hair because I am a very aesthetics sort of person. My hair looks and feels extremely soft, even though my hair is soft before I iron it and it straightens very easily. What I loved a lot is that it brought out the many layers in my hair. If you take too much hair or if you have it placed weirdly, it will snag the hair but that's just common sense. The iron is lightweight and easy to grip, it glides right through the hair. Plus, it worked wonderfully on my mother's stubborn hair too.
So far, the same as cheaper

I've only used it once, so maybe my technique is lacking. But so far, it's the same as cheaper ones I had 10 years ago. My hair is 4b and also coarse and also dense. Using the flat iron with a heat protectant on 370 degrees (I don't go higher 'cuz smoke coming off my hair scares me) gives me the look of a blow out. Fortunately I happen to like this look. But like other flat irons I've used, my hair doesn't really get straight. The only heat tool that's ever gotten my hair straight was a pressing comb. Before and after photos below. Before photo is a blow out from the blow dryer, which I wore for a couple of days. After photo is after flat ironing.
I do like that it has a temperature control and is light weight.
Love it

I debated a long time about which flat iron to get - the Solia or the Sedu. I chose the Solia and I am very happy with it. Before this flat iron, I have owned a Conair (horrible) and a Jilbere - I had that one for three years and liked it a lot. But, by comparison, the Solia is much better. My ends are so much softer now than they were using the other irons. Far fewer split ends. It only takes about ten minutes to straighten my hair - or less. I like the temperature control, too.
I use the Chi Silk Infusion first before straightening it. I put it on when my hair dries, just the size of a tic tac - a little goes a long way with this stuff. Then, I straighten my hair. It really gives it a polished shine. I definitely recommend this straightener. :)
Couldn't be happier!

I have a head full of naturally curly hair. I would get up in the morning, shower, scrunch my hair & I was good to go. I have attempted to straighten my hair several times, with a whole lot of frizzy results. Then, my friends told me that if I tried a "Chi", I would be thrilled with the results. Since the "Chi" was so expensive, I decided to do my homework. I researched flat irons and finally decided on the Solia. It was cheaper than the Chi by $20-$40 and had a higher rating from users. So, I did it! I paid my money with the fear that I was just wasting it. Not the case at all!! It's definitely the best $90 I've ever spent. In 20 minutes, I can get out of the shower, blow dry my hair and straighten it. NO FRIZZ! My hair comes out soft & silky every time! I am so freakin impressed! I can get up in the morning, run the straightener through and it's just as silky as it was the day before. I must say, I never imagined that this could work as well as it does!!! I'm thrilled!!!!

I got my solia a few months ago right after i cut my hair short and it works awesome! I have pretty thick curly frizzy hair and it used to take me twenty minutes to do my hair in the morning. It now takes me five minutes!! It's really great and it doesn't damage my hair at all! I'm the one on the left in the pic
Used for 3 years, the BEST!!

I wrote a more detailed review previously (on the SEDU) stating that I tried to stray and try something new, the new Sedu. It sucked, I'm sorry! Back to the best, the SOLIA!! Posting a review now again after I exchanged the SEDU for the Solia, and here are the pics. The best for any hair, and as you can see, I have typical "fro-ish" curly in front/straight in back, thick, poofy hair.
I love this flat iron!!!

So about my hair... I love my hair well at least what's its beginning to become to. I don't use any perms or chemical products, my hair is all natural. So after every wash I flat iron my hair because I don't like to wear the wavy natural look. Okay so I purchased the CHI nano actually about a week before purchasing the Solia. I got the CHI because of all the good reviews I read about it, but unfortunately I did not have the same great experience. So since I couldn't find my shipping receipt I couldn't return it :( Well I decided to just buy something else and OMG WOOW the Solia in my opinion truly blows the CHI out the water!! After I used the Solia my hair had lots of volume, it wasn't stripped, it didn't feel heavy. THIS IS THE BEST!!!
Works beautifully... No snagging!

I am absolutely in love with this flat iron. I had got the Hot Tools purple iron in August of 2007 and i thought i wouldnt have to buy another flat iron because i had used it at my friends house. So not the case, about id say 3 months later it started to smell and the purple paint start it completly peel off and it was brown and discusting. ugh. So i started to search online and i came across this Flat iron. i read alot of reviews. I was sold. i wanted this flat iron so bad. i begged my mom for it for a week and she had said nothing about it. Then about a month later, she finally said ok just order it. It is so worth the money. I get so many complements on my hair how smooth it is and how cute it looks. I have nasty frizzy hair as you can see, it used to take me almost a hour and half to get it all straight. it was so bad. i had to do it the night before. now it takes like a half an hour and it has moisture and shine all day. i love my hair and the way it feels. It feels like i just got out of the salon. But i need my hair highlighted again i know. Other than that. i love it. i hope that my review was helpful. Buy this flat iron and you will have no regrests i promise.
ITS AMAZING!!!!

SEDU VS. SOLIA
Okay, I had bought a sedu revolution from folica TWICE and each time it broke within a week of buying it. The sedu was amazing, but I noticed my hair smelt burnt after I used it and I could tell it was frying my hair. So if you’re debating between a sedu and solia, GET THE SOLIA
I have medium lengthen wavy hair and it takes about 5-10 minutes to straighten
I straighten my friend’s hair that's medium-long, really curly and REALLLLLLLY thick. With my old wigo it took about an hour and a half to straighten and with the solia it took about 35.
It also makes my hair SUPER shiny and REALLY soft (much more than the sedu)
As you can see from the pictures of my friend’s hair it works AMAZING!! I LOVE IT!!
great product!

I've used the Solano Sapphire for the last 6 - 7 years but 1. it's not ceramic and 2. they break...
Although reason 1. is enough to change, the thing I was looking for more than anything was less prone-ness to completely breaking. Of all the reviews I've read on here it looks like Solia is the most durable. I can't rate that yet since I've had it only for 2 weeks.
What I can rate is the effectiveness this flat iron has against my waves. I have thick, wavy ethnic hair and I do think this flat iron takes care of business. And I think it works faster and more affective than the Solano. My hair feels silkier and stays frizz-less longer.
One thing I have to get used to is the lack of comb. The Solano had a build in comb making it a one step breeze to straighten my hair. This one is comb-less but I am finding if I use my super fine tooth round brush with this flat iron, the results are MUCH better anyway.
As far as effectivity, this flat iron is the best I've tried so far. If it outlasts the Solano life-span, it will be a five star winner in my book.

My sister bought it first, and now 2 years later my other sister bought it, today my other sister and my best friend are buy in it. both of them had the CHI iron, my sisters chi iron broke in half after 4 years of use and she took extreme care of hers also my best friend chi iron after 2 years it shorted out, so i convinced my friend to buy it after she tried our Solia, my other sister went and bought another CHI for 120 wich you can get it here for 80.00 and yesterday she returned because it was pulling on her hair... so SOLIA IS THE BEST..
I am hispanic, I have LONG, THICK, THICK, WAVY, CURLY, FRIZZY hair, I love the Solia because ever since I started using it my hair became more healthier, and this iron does no damage to my hair, takes the frizz out and it last for days.. I just love it...!! thank you folica for selluing this wonderful iron...
love it

I was looking for a good ceramic straightner under $100, and I first ordered the 1 inch solia, I loved it but I felt it was a too small for my taste, so before the 30 days were up I returned it and quickly placed my order for the 1 1/4 inch solia. The people at folica are really nice and everything turned out perfect. Overall yes the solica is a great it heats up fast and stays hot, I don't really straighten my hair often but when I do its a breeze and my friends like to use it all the time. Buy it!

I got it a month or so ago. And I was pretty excited.
It works really well, and it used to take me 20 minutes to straighten my hair and it takes 5-10 minutes now. It's awesome, and it heats up really fast. While it's heating up, I can dress, then run it through my hair and I can be out the door! It can curl my hair and with my THICK ASIAN hair, it can hold the curl in. It held it all day once, without hairspray so I was pretty happy
Highly Recommended!!!

I had this flat iron for 2 years and NEVER had a problem with it. There were even a few times that I left it on all day by accident and it still worked like a charm. It never got dirty either. This flat iron works wonders on my frizzy hair with VERY kinky curls. I'm dominican, AND a hair stylist. So I know how important a good flat iron can be. I had the flat iron stolen last weekend. So I thought about getting a different new one.. but I changed my mind because I would rather stick with what works. And it has never damaged my hair!
In the pictures, the top one is my hair after flat ironing it... the bottom one is an older picture that kind of shows my hair curly. But even in this picture you can't get the full display of my kinky hair. The pictures is my hair after I TRIED styling it curly.
