I'm featured on the main Solia page with short brown curly hair that I have straightened with the iron. I have owned my Solia going on 5 years and it's been great to me. For the remark about the "flickering light" , that's the LED light letting you know the iron is at temperature, when you decrease temperature the light turns off until the selected temperature is met and then the LED begins to blink again. So no worries about the light. I love my Solia. It's been so great, infact, that my sister loved it and got one of her own. So if your considering getting a flat iron, seriously consider the Solia. Mine has been dropped, left on all day and night, been to Europe and traveled with me anywhere the military sent me and it still works like the day I pulled it out of the box!
thank god i found this flat iron!!!!!

Based on the reviews on this site I decided to try this iron out and I'm so glad I did! I just got it in the mail today and I am in love.
The iron has a swivel cord which makes it easy to use. I got black with blue plates and its so pretty. The plates are so much and the iron does not pull or snag your hair. It heats up on like 10 seconds.
Before this iron I was using the Conair Infiniti 2 inch ceramic iron around 365 degrees...With the Solia I'm using it at 320 degrees and it works better! With less heat! It's faster and make my hair look like I went to the salon. The size of this iron is perfect and allows me to get my roots to the ends exactly how I want them. My hair is very curly naturally so i love this thing!
The heat pouch is great too.
There are a lot of irons out there and it took me a while to decide what one I should buy. I have hair to my waist. I also heat style every other day and have blonde highlights. This iron is so gentle on my hair. There's no friz...just shine! My ends are horrible and this iron makes them not-noticable.
My friends have the CHI ($120) and ISO ($150) and the solia works just as good. My friend's chi quit working after a year...right when the warranty stopped and she had to replace it. The ISO is nice but for less money you can get the Solia and it works the same.

My hair is thick, however its not super curly or wavy, so I was surprised at how dissatisfied I was with my Solia straightener. I really dislike the plates, and I think perhaps I would have been more pleased with the 1" iron, but either way, the only way it works on my hair is if its on the highest heat setting, so it makes the other settings pointless. also, it does not get the job done quickly because I can only do small pieces of hair that I have to go over 2-3 times a piece. Also, my hair does not achieve the same shiny, professional look that I have achieved with other straighteners. I truthfully do not understand how so many people were satisfied with this product, and I definitely would not recommend it.
Very Good Flat Iron

I got this product sometime in mid July, so it's been about a month and a half. I'm Filipina and my hair is pretty straight except at the ends where it tends to flip out. At first, I really didn't see much of a difference in my hair. But after a while, my hair started looking and feeling much better. And I'd only have to flat iron my hair 3 days a week because the effect would last until the next day. It also makes beautiful curls, waves, flips, etc. The only thing that I don't like is that it sometimes snags my hair when I curl, but probably because I am lacking in technique, since most people seem not to have this problem

Flickering Light

So i Just got my solia, and i love it, works well. but there is one thing that is bothering, and its the flickering light on the temperature control. is it suppossed to be that way? It never goes solid, it always keeps flickering even as i increase the temperature, ive waited for a half hour, and nothing, still flickering. and then, when i turn the wheel down to decrease the temperature, the light stays off. It just seems a bit unusual to me, and its mt first Solia, so if someone can please help me and let me know if this is normal i would appreciate it! Thanks!
AMAZING.

I've had one for about five or six years and I'm only getting a new one now because my mother and I live in different states. I love it!!
My friends have before and after pics for it that would remind people of a Garnier Fructis ad.
love it!

i got the solia straightener about a couple months ago. i wanted 2 wait 2 write a review and stuff to see if it would still work really good... and it does! i hav pretty curly hair that is just HORRIBLE! i had a good conair straightener for about a year when it finally started to burn out:( so i went to wal-greens and i bought a 1" revlon straightener and it was literally the worst thing ive ever bought in my entire life! after about a week i was fed up with the revlon one so i desided that i was going to look at getting a CHI. i went on a couple websites and there was only one website that i could find a really good price on it. then i went on here and then i saw this solia one. i looked at it and i thought that it was pretty good from seeing pictures of people after they straighten their hair and the reviews and stuff. i debated for awhile if i still wanted the CHI or the solia but i finally desided to buy the CHI. i am so glad i went with the solia:) it works wonders on my hair! i use the CHI silk infusion to and i also love that cuz it makes my hair so silky and shiney. my hair stays straight all day! there were a couple little parts on the back of my head that i couldnt straighten very easily and now its super easy! for people that it breaks really easily for them then your probably not taking care of it right cause if you take good care of it by not twisting the cord or dropping it or anything then itll work really good. and you dont want to hold it really hard to when your straightening a section of your hair cuz thats how it snags. trust me i did it the 1st time i got it and thats wat happened! i just grip it as hard and i havent had it snag sense. i used this on my friend who has thick as heck hair and it made her hair so straight and shiny that she might get one to. i would recommend this for anyone!
Pretty good (:

I recently purchased a Solia flat iron through folica and couldnt be happier! My sisters and I have always used Chi's and I couldnt tell you how many weve been through. Its pretty much a guarantee that after a year they will break and fall apart. I live in Florida in the worst humidity and with my solia my hair stays straight and frizz- free all day! I love it, and the shipping was so fast!

I have used many store brand flat irons and the chi, but the Solia is by far the BEST!! It glides through my hair so easy and makes my hair feel healthier when I'm done using it. I love the adjustable heat settings too!! If you are looking for a new flat iron Please try this one! It works better then I expected it to ;-)

Can't use the SOLIA 1 3/4 inch iron anymore

I can't use the SOLIA 1 3/4 inch ceramic iron anymore. I bought this in September 2008 not even a yr ago and have not been able to use it for several months. All it does is pull my hair and rips it out. I don't know what the warranty is but to return it to Folica it says you have to pay a fee. Why would anyone pay this much for a straightner that by no fault of theirs is a lemon and want to pay a fee to get it replaced or fixed. I paid about $100.00 for it and it's worthless to me.
OK flat iron

I have very thick hair. The CHI always made mine look smooth and flat and this one makes my hair look flat and frizzed out and frayed. Also it hurts your hand to hold it tight enough to get good results and do your whole head. Overall so not impressed and wish I spent the extra money on a better one.
