I love it!

I ordered this straightener October 2 and received it today. The shipping was relatively quick, would have been quicker if I didn't order on the weekend. So yeah, Folica pretty much has quick shipping. That's always a plus.
I have thick, wavy hair that reaches mid-back. Not too difficult, but I love it pin straight. With all the other straighteners I've owned, the barely had that pin straight style I like; Instead I've always ended up with straight but poofy hair that would go away in a few hours. But with this straightener, one pass and my hair is straight. No need to go over it multiply times like the other straighteners. Although I have a habit, from the other ones, to go over it more than once when it's not needed. Ha.
One more GREAT thing about this iron, it leaves no smell. You know that burnt nasty smell? No worries here, it smells like the products you originally placed in your hair. I love that part. It also leaves it silky smooth, and I mean smooth. I can't stop running my hands through it [:
Overall, if you want a flat iron that leaves no smell, keeps your hair PIN straight and smooth go for this one. You will not be disappointed at ALL.
P.S: This is a completely honest review.
IF I ONLY KNEW HOW GOOD IT WAS...

I would have bought this years ago and paid any price. I was dying to have straight, smooth, silky hair. I have tried many many different products, many different brands and models of flat irons. None of my attempts were giving me the results I was looking for... till I tried Solia.
I couldn't believe the difference. Now I got the results I want even if I use the cheapest shampoo and hair products. THE BEST THING IS; my hair hold up upto 3 days. The rain, humidity, sweat were my worst enemies. They don't scare me anymore :) My hair holds itself in any condition upto 3 days... What else you need from a flat iron???
Only difference from Chi is; Chi feels smoother on the hair at first, but it doesn't provide the same results. It works just fine and smooths the hair really nice, but then it doesn't last long. If you wash your hair everyday and flaten it daily I quess Chi would be a good choice too. But if you want lasting results (2-3 days), if you don't want to experience problems with humidity go with SOLIA..
I am not the easiest person to please. I like quality and high performance, but at the same time I am price sensitive. I had to think twice before spending $90 for a flat iron, but it is soooo worth it... as I said earlier if I knew I was going to get these results, I would have spend three times as much and get it years and years ago.
Buy it!!!! you won't regret...
Didn't really like

I used this flat iron for the first time today and I didn't like it. I was so disappointed. It was heavier than any of my other flat irons and gave me more fly-aways. I've had a CHI and Biosilk and would have to say they were much better.
Don't waste your money!

I have had to buy THREE Solia irons in less than a year and a half. Save your money- spend more for the T3 so you don't have to go through that. Too bad- the iron works terrific but breaks too darn easy!
4 Years and still going strong

I have had this hair straightener for 4 years and it works as good today as it did the first day I used it. Prior to purchasing this hair straightener, I had been buying cheap ones from Walmart and they would only work well for a few weeks. Then they would stop getting hot. This one still gets as hot as it did the day I got it. I LOVE IT!! Would definatly recomend it to anyone looking for a good quality strightener.
awesome iron

I used the remington wet to straight flat iron prior to purchasing the hot pink solia flat iron.
The cheap walmart iron (the remington) did straighten my hair well, but the damaged it caused was terrible.
i have naturally fat ringlets, and just to try to help my poor hair recover from one week of striaght hair, i would have to leave my hair curly for atleast a week.
THIS IRON IS AWESOME BECAUSE:
this striaghtner GLIDES over hair.
heats up very quickly.
leaves hair smooth and straight in a timely fashion.
it also arrived in 4days!
you wont regret buying this at all!
ive worn my hair straight to school before, but after i used this iron i got MANY more compliments...
but if your going to get ANY flat iron, make sure you get a heat protector, CHI silk infusion alone works well, but i would recommend getting an addtional heat protecter as well...

I have been on a mission to find a flat iron for at least 3 years now and this is it. I've tried Chi and many other salon/dept. store brands and this is the only one that has worked for me. It works so well without frying my hair and never leaves it frizzy. The different temperature settings are great for anyone with fine hair and the plates actually make my hair feel soft and smooth. Absolutely love it!
Don't like this iron... and now I'm stuck with it :-(

I bought this iron a couple months ago from Folica.com after my FHI iron bit the dust. It got so many good reviews that I thought this purchase was a no brainer. However, now I am beginning to wonder if most of the reviews are from people who graduated from a cheaper flat iron from somewhere like a Target or a Sally Beauty to this iron, because I do not think it is a good iron at all. I have to turn the heat almost all the way up, which I've never had to do with other irons. I also have to run it though my wavy hair a lot of times before it actually straightens it. Which is making my hair really dry and brittle. I have another Solia iron I bought from Folica with an international plug to use when I go to Europe that I love. I wish I could use that one here in the US. But now that I've invested $80 in this hot pink iron and can no longer return it, I'm stuck with it until it burns out. If I was you, I'd try some other irons or some other brands before I'd buy this Solia or you'll end up with dry, heat damaged hair like me.
Very good flat iron that straightens and curls

I bought this iron after returning the Sedu Nano iron. I did alot of research and thought that the Sedu would be the right iron for me. With the Sedu I could smell my hair burning so I had to return it. I ordered the Solia 1 1/4 flat iron and I have been very pleased. I am African-American with very thick hair that falls right above my shoulders. My hair is also in very healthy condition so I was very concerned about buying an iron that would not damage my hair. This iron gets your hair straight and soft without burning or damaging it. I have also just this week started using the iron to put some loose curls in my hair which look beautiful and fun. I would highly recommend this iron to women with relaxed hair. My hair is thick but straightens easily so it is perfect for me. I usually go to the hair dresser every 3 weeks, but have not had to go for the last 5 weeks. Give the Solia a try!

My boyfriend bought me a purple (fave color!) one and at first I was reluctant to use it 'cuz I've been used to going to the salon and paying 30+ to get my hair straightened with a Chi...which ripped my hair out each visit. I've used f hi tourmaline at home and it does the same thing...hair all over the place! But this...is amazing: It took me 15 min to straighten my 16 in mixed hair! I do think it works better if you have a straightener or relaxer in- might cut the time even shorter than usual? Anyway, I love this iron...oh I already said that:P
Chi over Solia

I have thick, curly, frizzy hair. I had 2 Chis and broke them both so I decided to try a different straightener this time. I read the reviews for both the Solia and the Chi and people seemed more satisfied with the Solia so I bought it. After using it one time, I knew that it was not as good as the Chi. Ya, it has heat setting that is supposedly hotter than the Chi, but it didn't straighten my hair as well. It took longer and I didn't like the bigger iron. I recently got another Chi and love it. The Chi is a way better flat iron than the Solia.
Not as good as I hoped

I was using the Sedu for 1.5 years when it broke in half last week. I decided to go with the Solia flat iron this time, in the limited edition Purple color. I straightened my hair twice this week with the Solia and was not as satisfied with the results. I have very curly, fine hair so I used the heat temp around 370 degrees. The plates were also much smaller than the Sedu. I started with small sections of hair and after gliding the iron through once, I noticed it was still wavy and not smooth. I had to run the iron through 2 more times to get it somewhat straight. My hair felt more dry than before. Second day hair was a little better, my hair wasn't as dry and I didnt have to re-iron my hair. However, still not happy because my hair is dry from all the iron use and it takes longer to straighten with the Solia.
I am going to return this flat iron and order the Sedu.

I've had this flat iron for about two years now and it hasn't broken. I drop it all of the time and always travel with it too. It makes my course hair straight and silky without damage. I would recommend it!

I have the most unruly, thick, course hair anyone can possibly have! I bought this flat iron two days ago and already received it in the mail and used it first thing this morning. Normally, I have to take 3 hours to straighten my hair, but not today!!! It only took me 30 minutes and it is stick straight!!!! I love this hair straightener and I will recommend it to anyone with any hair type! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!

After 4 great years of using the "JRS SuperStar" hair straightner, it finally stopped working due to complications in the cord. It was the BEST hair straightner, kept my hair very healthy and shiny. I wanted to purchase the updated "SuperStar", however, $160 is not in my budget at this time. Sooo.. I did some research and purchased the Solia Tourmaline. I recieved it VERY quickly after placing an order on Folica.com. I tried it out today, and it works well, but NOT as good as the "SuperStar". I don't feel as though my hair is as smooth, actually feels dry. But, it was the first trial, so we will see. It grips my hair well and heats up quickly. Def not bad, but not as good at the Superstar.
No Better Than My $30.00 Flat Iron

I have medium length, thin, easy going hair. The Solia straightener worked NO better than my $30.00 Conair Flat Iron. It left creases on the top of my hair. It's a decent flat iron, but in no way was I "wowed" by this flat iron. This flat iron did heat up quickly, the straightener looks cheap.
best flat iron ever!

Okay, to begin this flat iron is the best i have ever used. My hair is thick and wavy. Before i tried to use the cheap $30 straighteners that didnt really make a huge difference to my hair. I really wanted a straightener tho so i was looking around and saw really really good reviews on this one compared to the chi so my mom bought it for me as a early christmas present. I've had this flat iron since october and it works wonderful! When i first got it i got soo many compliments on my hair! plus it completely takes away the frizz! Now that i've had it for almost a year, it doesnt heat up as quickly as before but thats expected. The only thing i recommend is buying a heat protectant. I bought the sedu stuff from here that came with the flat iron at the time but it didnt seem to work so i bought treseme heat protectant for like $4...i ran out of it last year and stopped using the heat protectant and my hair was and still is badly damaged. But i recommend this product to anyone!

I think something happend with the cord. So if you do buy one, MAKE SURE AND KEEP YOUR BOX AND RECEIPT!!!! So you can use the warenty!!

OMG I've never been able to find a flat iron that actually straightens my hair so well. My old flat iron left my hair frizzy n stiff and very puffy. I have very very thick hair, medium length n I always have to perm my hair to get it straight. Not animore I dnt. I've been wanting to go natural for a awhile and now I can. I would recommend the Solia to ani1. I will post pictures at a l8tr time.
