as an african american women i've been through my share of starigheteners but i have to say that this one worked really well, and even in the high setting didn't seem to damage my fine hair (although not recommended). also, straighten's rather quickly, usually 1 or 2 swipes and the jobs is done so it didnt take that long to straighten whole head max. 10 mins for my short bob.
Overall great product.
Excellent Flat iron

This is an excellent flat iron. I was particularly interested in getting a flat iron that was able to get above 375 degrees since my hair is thick and coarse. My Solia does the job. It heats up quickly and straightening my hair is so easy. Great Flat iron.
Solia flat iron

I didn't know which flat iron to pick, because there are so many choices and price ranges. I ended up picking this one based on reviews. I really like it, I only flat iron my hair once in a while, but I do not regret my purchase. I have long, think and a full head of hair and it does not pull my hair out or get tangled in the iron like I have experienced with other irons. 2 thumbs up. buy it.
The Solia is a Great Product!

I use to have a Maxiglide but it crapped out after just over a year. It was heavy, bulky, and pulled my hair. The Solia is the complete opposite. Its light, streamlined, and glides through my hair effortlessly. If you are thinking about getting a new flat iron, Solia is an excellent choice. I love it!!!
Better than my CHI

I bought this iron after having to cut 6 inches of damaged hair off! My stylist told me to get a flat iron that has adjustable heat. The old CHI i was using had really done some damage i had no idea intil i started using the Solia iron how much that does make a difference. It is worth the $ !

I have paid a lot of money in the past and rec'd a product that was so flimsy it broke shortly after the purchase - this iron is good and sturdy, no probelms yet, works great!
I think sedu was better

I had a sedu 1.5". Took it to Europe with a voltage converter yet the dam thing BUST!! Must have been the voltage?Boo-hoo,gutted, all that $$$!
SO!!! DONT TAKE YOUR IRONS TO EUROPE!!
Anyway got home and thought i'd try the solia 1.1/4"(bit cheaper). Yes it's very good compared to others but i think the sedu was better? Maybe the 1/4 inch makes a huge difference? I see myself going over the same piece of hair over and over and needing to use serum at the top, where as the sedu was quicker at PIN straightening and making my hair more shiny. Saying that though, it still only takes me 15-20 mins to do my hair which is armpit length.

The solia is by far the best flat iron I have used. The plates don't pull my hair at all and it straightens my hair easily. It leaves my hair feeling soft, silky and smooth after each use. Be sure to use a heat protectant to avoid damaging your hair. The only thing I don't like about this iron is it has an annoying swivel cord that gets twisted after each use. I had to send mine in for repair because the cord had a short in it and the power was cutting off sometimes. If you are trying to decide between the Sedu Revolution or this iron, look no further. The Sedu Revolution pulled my hair a lot and did not work very well straightening my hair. It worked on straightening thicker sections of my hair but not smaller sections of my hair. I could never get the plates to close down very well on my hair. I sent mine back for a refund. In my opinion, the Solia flat iron is a much better iron than the Sedu. Don't waste your money buying the more expensive brand.

I am so glad I did not shell out an extra $100 for a Chi iron. This Solia is perfect for me...really fast and my hair has never been so smooth... Yes, sometimes some hair gets caught on the blue part, but it really does a great job. I was debating what to buy and reading the reviews made me pick this iron. Not an once of regret!!! And really nice to Canadian customers!
I always recommend SOLIA!

This is my second Solia flat iron. The previous solia I had lasted about 3 years before I had any problems. My 1st solia still works, but the cord has to be in a certain position - it probably needs a new cord but its no longer under warranty, so I just bought a new one. For the price & performance I would never use another brand.

I have bought many flatirons but they all tended to be cheaper ones. I was not wild about spending $150 on a flatiron so when I found this one that was cheaper but still had great reviews I decided to go for it. I use it everyday and love it. I put Super Skinny on my hair first and I do not have near the amount of breakage as I did with my other flat irons. I am very very happy with this product.
Great Iron!

This iron really does make my hair more sleek and shiny than the babyliss iron I was using .. not to mention it takes me half the time to style!
However, like many others on this site, I was debating whether to get the solia or the sedu .. I went the cheaper route, but definitely think that the hair pictures from the sedu iron look better, more sleek and silky.. that being said the solia is still a fantastic iron and better than all the ones I have tried in the past .. but I don't feel it's the best out there and if they didn't charge so much shipping for Canadians I probably would have exchanged my solia for the new sedu iron.

I did a lot of research before purchasing an iron, and am very happy with the outcome. With a few touch-ups, my hair stays straight for up to three days. (I have dry hair, so oil is not really a problem.)
My hair is loosely curly, and on the dry/frizzy side. I regularly deep condition, and use a leave-in product to protect my hair from the heat. I have not noticed any damage. Though you can use this on towel-dried hair,I find that using the iron when my hair is almost or completely dry takes the least amount of time. Use a slightly higher temperature than normal if your hair is damp - I generally use it about 325-350. For more stubborn curls, a higher temp would probably be better.
I have not used the iron to create curls, but I do flip the ends. It is very easy with the shape of the iron.
The longest layer of my hair is midway down my back, and the 1 1/4 inch size works just fine.

I love my Solia flat iron. I have very frizzy hair (and livein a VERY humid place)and this product straightens my hair - and it stays for the entire day.
I love the fact that I can adjust the temp and the heat proof pad is a MUST.
I decided to purchase the Solia instead of the Chi because the majority of the reviews stated that the Chi usually has problems after one year of use. $85 is too much to spend on a new flat iron every year.
I WOULD definitely recommend this product....make sure you use a heat protector product on your hair though!
Works well!

I was using Secret to Beauty flat iron from a beauty supply store which works pretty well on my hair but I just thought it took too long to straighten. I have thick, curly hair...so I figured I would try out the Solia since it has been highly rated. Well, so far I love it. I only have to go over each strand once so it cuts my straightening time in half. I would highly recommend this product.
Works like a charm and lasted 3 yrs!!

So after my HAI flat iron broke after only a year (conviently right after the warrenty expired) i bought the Solia after reading many reviews on this site (it really was a toss up between solia and Sedu, however for price, Solia won), and its done nothing but keep my hair straight and shiny. I used my flat iron pretty much everyday and my hair looked and felt healthy, so really, it was worth it. So if you have coarse, wavy, dark with highlighted hair, this flat iron will do you no wrong.

This product is really great. I'm mixed and I have long wavy and curly hair and it straightens it out without a problem. In the past I've bought $40 flat irons and they all kept breaking, so I decided to spend a little more in hopes of getting better results and it was worth it. It use to take me like 4 hours to straighten my hair, but now it only takes an hour and a half at the most. So I am so glad I came across this flat iron.

I used to own an ion straighter until my sister dropped it and it broke. I looked at these reviews and found this to be a good buy. When i first picked it up it was a little heavier then my ion but nothing that i couldn't handle. It straightens my hair well. It is not pin straight but it looks good and natural. It heats up quickly and it doesn't pull the hair. It takes me a little longer to straighten then my old one but only about a 5 minute change. It is worth the buy!

During a fight the other night, my boyfriend broke my old InfraShine flat iron. I had it for two years and I loved it. But since my boyfriend was going to buy the new one, I was looking around to see if I could find a better flat iron cheaper. I really liked this one because it has more than 2,000 reviews and it is still one of the best selling flat irons Folica sells. I finally gave in and bought it. It just came today and I HAD to try it out. My other flat iron made my hair smell like it was burning occasionally, but this one didn't burn my hair at all. I have very thick and curly hair. It made my hair shiny and it seemed so much healthier and thinner. Even my boyfriend noticed the difference between the two!! My mom has the InfraShine too, and I'm going to talk her into getting this one.
