This is an AMAZING straightener! My hair is so soft and smooth and it stays straight. It isn't damaging either! I definitely recommend this product! :)

i love it so much. at first i was going to get a chi but i read all the reviews of the solia and it change my mind not to get the chi but its the best ever had flat iron

I recently purchased the Solia flat-iron after using a CHI for many years. I chose a different type of flat-iron because every CHI that I owned broke within the first year.
I am sad to say that the Solia is just okay. I read many reviews online before purchasing it. Reviews raved about it and sadly, I feel, they may be a little too generous.
The Solia does not reach 450. If the CHI reaches 350 and feels a lot hotter than the Solia, I doubt the degrees are being honest.
Second, the Solia pulls my hair. There is a gap between the so called "ceramic" plate and the base of the flat iron that yanks your hair out on each pull.There is also a gap between the plates themselves making it harder to straighten your hair quickly.
Third, I have thick course hair that normally holds up very well when straightened. With the Solia, I am seeing more and more split ends and my hair is becoming more damaged everyday. I tried the spray that came with the straightener and it's way too sticky and does not provide a good barrier.
If you are wondering why I am still using the Solia, it's because I don't want to purchase another flat-iron so soon.

I bought this flat iron about a year and a half ago and it works great. It heats up in about a minute which isn't really any different from my old straightener. However, it gets much hotter and straightens my hair in less than half the time it used to take me. Within the past couple months though, it's been acting up..after straightening a section, it will take some time to reheat to the temperature setting. This can be incredibly frustrating especially when I'm getting ready in a hurry but I experienced the same problem after I had my Chi for a while (this one does a much better job than the Chi still)
Excellent iron until it stopped working!

I absolutely loved this flat iron, but it recently died on me! It's about 4 years old and I didn't use it too often. Traveled with it several times and made sure to use the protective pouch so it wouldn't get damaged. I'm hesitant to buy the same iron, as I would rather spend my money on something that will last...bummer.
With all the hype, I had to try it...

I bought my Chi in 2003...so six years ago. Folica was having a great sale on the Solia flat iron. So I thought my Chi flat iron is getting old, I should take advantage of this sale and by this new Solia flat iron that has more to offer and great reivews.
Well now that I was able to try Solia, I wish I bought a new Chi instead. Solia is not a bad item, but it definately is not as great as my Chi. Now I have a new Solia sitting in its box and am still using my 6 year old, dependable and awsome Chi.
Wish I'd had this in the 60's!

This is a FANTASTIC product. I only wish I had had one in the 60's when everyone cool had straight hair (not unlike now) and I was blessed with thick, coarse, curly, frizzy hair. Ugh, was that painful! But now, even though I am in my 50's (how did that happen???) I have the hair I always wanted. Thank you Solia!
PS: I don't want be too hard on CHI. They make wonderful hair products that smell great and work perfectly with my Solia flat iron.

I recently bought this iron and I am amazed on how well it works..my hair is pin straight ..I was a bit skeptical at 1st but I really like the performance....I also have the CHI and I really don't see the difference! Hopefully this is more durable than the chi and at least it comes with a 2yr warranty :)

This is my first professional hair straightener and i LOVE it. have used my friend's chi before, but this one heats up quicker and has a longer warranty. definately worth the price, and gets my hair super straight

I have just recently ordered my Solia flat iron and I love it! It does not pull my hair. It heats up fast too. I love my Solia! It was shipped out fast and I received it within 4-5 days. I would not trade it! I really got a great deal when I ordered mine. I received the flat iron, the heat proof pouch, and a straigtening set (which included a paddle brush). Alll this for $79.99 and that included free shipping! I will be ordering a hair dryer soon!

I bought the solia about 15 months ago and I loved way it straighted my thick course hair. However the iron stopped working after only about 15 months worth of use, so I am a bit disappointed with the quality of the product. I now have a CHI and I have to say it does not do the same great job the Solia did, but hopefully it will last longer. I love the folica website though, prices are great in comparison to buying in a beauty store and product selction is tops!!!!

I was so unbelievibly excited when I got my Solia flat iron in the mail. No more burnt-smelling, damaged hair! Smooth, straight, healthy hair! Unfortunately, as soon as I had finished straightening my hair, I went outside. If you live in a bubble or something, than this flat iron is for you. If not, and you go outside when it's even SLIGHTLY humid, than this flat iron is going to be quite the disappointment. I (stupidly) used the Solia instead of my CHI the morning of my senior portraits, and as soon as I stepped out of the car, my hair frizzed up and expanded into a triangle!!!! And it was too late to fix it or flatten it... DO NOT GET THIS FLAT IRON!!

i have very thick hair and this straightner does not really work on thick hair yout will see that alot of the reviews and pics areof thinner hir. i wouldnt recomend for thick hair... not wort it

This is by far the best flat iron I have ever used. It heats up fast. It's light. I have thick wavy hair and I straightened my hair in about 15 minutes. I highly recommend this item. You will not be disappointed.

I absolutely fell in love with my Solia the first moment I got it. My hair is straight in some places and wavy in others and my Solia takes care of it all, I usually on;y have to go through with one pass. It doesn't leave my hair feeling burnt or smelling gross like my last flat iron did. This is by far the best iron I've ever had.
They didn't send my heat-proof pouch with it though, but I called Folica and they immediately send me one off in the mail, so I'm not upset about it.

I've had my Solia iron for a year and a half and it worked great until this morning. I plugged it in this morning and the light didn't come on and it didn't heat up. I pressed the re-set button a couple different times, which I've had to do in the past, but it still didn't come on. Not sure whether to risk it again and buy another Solia iron or else switch to a Chi. Many of the Chi reviews complain that the Chi iron stops working after a year or so, too.

LOVED IT! Unfortunately I have had it since Feb 09 and it no longer stays hot. Will be sending it back for a replacement (+$10). Hopefully the next one will be better. My hair is "big" and it looked great after just a couple of passes through. It didn't pull or snag my hair either.

Me and my homegirl have naturally curly hair. It usually takes 29 hours for us to do our hair with the cheap flat irons like chi and conair. BUT with the solia, our hair be str8 like the white pplss. We be rockin that silky straight celebrity hair like beyonce's weaves. Solia is the ishnit!
