Product Rating: 5 Glides Effortlessly
Reviewer: Sarah   Tue Apr 01 2008

I have thick wavy/curly hair, but it is fine in texture and damages easily. I bought a CHI a little more than a year ago, thinking that it would help with the damage problem. I could not have been more wrong. The CHI will get your hair straight, but it will also fry it to the core. Tired of looking fried, I read reviews and looked at pictures, and I ordered the Solia. I just straightened my hair for the first time with it, and I am very impressed. I love that you can adjust the heat settings (unlike on the original CHI 1") and I love how it glides through my hair. It gets your hair straight without frying/snagging/damaging like the CHI and drugstore brands.

Product Rating: 5 The Best Ever

I own a plethera of flat irons (including BOTH types of sedu irons)and this one just blows them all away. I can never repeat the excellent results I get with this iron. My hair is LONG (my daughter calls it rapunzel hair) and thick and naturally VERY curly and frizzy, and this takes care of it all in a half hour at the most. Best of all, its moderately priced compared to the others and it doesnt burn you like some of the other irons do even though it gets just as hot. I plan on buying another one when I get the extra cash to keep at my parents when I go to visit!

Product Rating: 5 GREAT flat-iron for ethnic or thick hair - GO SOLIA!
Reviewer: Paloma from Seattle, WA  Sat Mar 29 2008

The Chi and Sedu aren't as good and the Chi is made so poorly and breaks! My friend was so pissed off with her Chi, it also fried her hair and made the ends white. The Sedu costs more, because celebrities endorse it "not" because it's better :)

I researched a lot before I bought a flat-iron and decided on the Solia, because it had the best reviews. I have never been happier with a product!! It heats up in 20-30 sec and straightens so fast. It doesn't snag my hair or dry it out & it's shiny and healthy looking. I have shoulder length mixed hair and growing it out. I'm Filipino, black and native american so I have all different textures. My hair is thick, wavy, course, straight in some areas and frizzy in others. It was important I get the best iron that wouldn't hurt my hair, but still hot enough to straighten it. It lasts until I wash my hair - no kidding!

The heat adjustment is great so you can find the right temp for your hair type - this is so important. I use 370 degrees! Other's like Chi and GHD you can't adjust the temp and it kills your hair. I use Redken heat glide as a heat protectant and it's excellent, but pricey - though a bottle lasts a long time since it's a serum. Sorry I don't have pics, but I definitely recommend the Solia - it's the best flat-iron for ethnic or thick hair. You won't be disappointed and if so, you can return it within 30days. folica stands behinds that. I was surprised that I got a carrying pouch that I can also use as a mat - I didn't realize it came with that when I purchased. Super Super buy for $88 bucks and free shipping!!!!!!!

Product Rating: 5 Great Flat Iron
Reviewer: PJ from NC  Fri Mar 28 2008

We have really enjoyed this flat iron for the past 4 years. It never burned our hair and could take curly hair and iron it flat and silky smooth. Unfortunately, too many falls to the floor has finally caused a short in it causing it to come on only sporadically. So, I'm buying another one because we all loved it so much. I've actually never had an iron last even two years. We'll be more careful with it this time.

I ordered this flat iron on 3/26 @ 6:00, I rec'd it less than 24 hours later!!! I couldn't wait to try it... It is awsome! It takesless than 30 seconds to heat up, absolutely the best I've ever used...

Product Rating: 5 Excellent Product!!!

I've had my Solia for almost 3 years, and I love it. (I just had to buy a new one, though 'cause I dropped mine in the toilet last night - it fell off the sink). I have naturally curly hair that I usually blow dry straight. I was introduced to the flat iron and fell in love. Today, not having used the flat iron I can really tell the difference it has made, since my hair is just not smooth and as as soft today. Can't wait to get my new one, and I upgraded to the 1 3/4" 'cause of my long hair. THANKS for a great iron!

Product Rating: 5 The best flat iron out there
Reviewer: Katharine from Sterling, VA  Wed Mar 26 2008

I have used this flat iron for several months now and absolutely love it. The plates glide through my hair without snagging or pulling my hair at all. It is easy for me to shape my hair, I curl it under, because of the curved plates. The ONLY thing I do not like about it is the annoying swivel cord. It gets twisted after each use and I already had to send mine in to be fixed because there was a short in the cord where it connected to the flat iron. If you are trying to decide between this and the Sedu Revolution I highly recommend the Solia. The Sedu Revolution pulled my hair a lot, made it feel stiff and took longer to straighten. The Solia flat iron is best you can get for your money as far as I am concerned.

Reviewer: Tracy from indiana  Fri Mar 21 2008

I researched flat irons for a while (like many other people) and almost bought a CHI, but the reviews were not so hot.

So I took my chances on the Solia about a month ago. I love it. I have corse, thick, naturally wavy hair and the Solia transforms it into soft, straight, smoothe looking hair. It takes no time to heat up and does the job quickly.

I used to have a Paul Mitchell smoothing iron and it was great, but the Solia is by far better.

I bought the one inch about 2 mos ago and have no complaints.
I get such a good press that people think I went to the hairdresser. I would definitely suggest buying this iron. Previously I had a hot tools and it was no where near as good as this, plus, it broke within no time. I love the case that came with it also. BTW, the price was GREAT!!!! I bought it during the "free shipping" promotion.

This Solia 1 1/4 in. flat iron is great! It only needs one or two strokes down your hair and it is perfectly straight! As you can see, my wild, wavy, thick hair was turned into totally straight. The flat iron left my hair feeling silky and healthy. It is the BEST flat iron I have ever used!!!

:D

Product Rating: 4 Great!
Reviewer: Angie from Canada  Fri Mar 07 2008

as an african american women i've been through my share of starigheteners but i have to say that this one worked really well, and even in the high setting didn't seem to damage my fine hair (although not recommended). also, straighten's rather quickly, usually 1 or 2 swipes and the jobs is done so it didnt take that long to straighten whole head max. 10 mins for my short bob.
Overall great product.

Product Rating: 5 Excellent Flat iron
Reviewer: Florence from Flemington, NJ  Fri Mar 07 2008

This is an excellent flat iron. I was particularly interested in getting a flat iron that was able to get above 375 degrees since my hair is thick and coarse. My Solia does the job. It heats up quickly and straightening my hair is so easy. Great Flat iron.

Product Rating: 5 Solia flat iron
Reviewer: Terri Faultersack from LAS VEGAS, NV  Fri Mar 07 2008

I didn't know which flat iron to pick, because there are so many choices and price ranges. I ended up picking this one based on reviews. I really like it, I only flat iron my hair once in a while, but I do not regret my purchase. I have long, think and a full head of hair and it does not pull my hair out or get tangled in the iron like I have experienced with other irons. 2 thumbs up. buy it.

Product Rating: 5 The Solia is a Great Product!
Reviewer: Robbie B. from Indian Trail, NC  Thu Mar 06 2008

I use to have a Maxiglide but it crapped out after just over a year. It was heavy, bulky, and pulled my hair. The Solia is the complete opposite. Its light, streamlined, and glides through my hair effortlessly. If you are thinking about getting a new flat iron, Solia is an excellent choice. I love it!!!

Product Rating: 5 Better than my CHI
Reviewer: anonymous from Potomac Falls VA

I bought this iron after having to cut 6 inches of damaged hair off! My stylist told me to get a flat iron that has adjustable heat. The old CHI i was using had really done some damage i had no idea intil i started using the Solia iron how much that does make a difference. It is worth the $ !

Product Rating: 4 Good Sturdy Product
Reviewer: Beth from Providence, RI

I have paid a lot of money in the past and rec'd a product that was so flimsy it broke shortly after the purchase - this iron is good and sturdy, no probelms yet, works great!

Product Rating: 4 I think sedu was better
Reviewer: Jules from NYC bay-bee

I had a sedu 1.5". Took it to Europe with a voltage converter yet the dam thing BUST!! Must have been the voltage?Boo-hoo,gutted, all that $$$!

SO!!! DONT TAKE YOUR IRONS TO EUROPE!!

Anyway got home and thought i'd try the solia 1.1/4"(bit cheaper). Yes it's very good compared to others but i think the sedu was better? Maybe the 1/4 inch makes a huge difference? I see myself going over the same piece of hair over and over and needing to use serum at the top, where as the sedu was quicker at PIN straightening and making my hair more shiny. Saying that though, it still only takes me 15-20 mins to do my hair which is armpit length.

Product Rating: 5 Love this flat iron
Reviewer: Katharine Brooks   Tue Mar 04 2008

The solia is by far the best flat iron I have used. The plates don't pull my hair at all and it straightens my hair easily. It leaves my hair feeling soft, silky and smooth after each use. Be sure to use a heat protectant to avoid damaging your hair. The only thing I don't like about this iron is it has an annoying swivel cord that gets twisted after each use. I had to send mine in for repair because the cord had a short in it and the power was cutting off sometimes. If you are trying to decide between the Sedu Revolution or this iron, look no further. The Sedu Revolution pulled my hair a lot and did not work very well straightening my hair. It worked on straightening thicker sections of my hair but not smaller sections of my hair. I could never get the plates to close down very well on my hair. I sent mine back for a refund. In my opinion, the Solia flat iron is a much better iron than the Sedu. Don't waste your money buying the more expensive brand.
