Previously I used a CHI- but like everyone elses- it shorted out and they were unable to fix it and the warrenty was out. (Not too happy after spending 150 on it and it no longer working) So I tried the Solia- It was much less and works just as well as my CHI did- if not BETTER...i have very thick wavy hair and it does wonders for me. I would highly suggest this iron over the CHI.
First flat iron to work!

I have always been the girl who had kinky curly hair. I then migrated into being the girl with straight, poofy hair. About six years ago I discovered that my hair stylist could flat iron my hair and oh wow did that make me excited. I couldn't afford a high quality flat iron so I went to Sally's and bought a $30 one. This made my hair straight, but frizzy. That one got ruined so my mom bought me a $40 one. This made my hair straight and a little less frizzy, but nothing like how my stylist could do.
I tried a relaxer and even that required me to have a decent flat iron. I don't like my hair curly because I have to weigh it down with so much gel and spray that it doesn't move by the time I'm done with it. I found this site about a month ago and decided to buy a good quality flat iron because I felt it'd be well worth it. I found this one and although it wasn't rated #1, it was #2 and it was a bit cheaper than the Sedu.
I've been antsy for the past four days. It finally arrived today and when I got home from work I put it to the test. I have to blow dry my hair before I straighten it no matter what or else nothing will work on my hair. The first two pictures are me with wet curly hair, and then my frizzy, afro-poof blow dried hair. The after is when I used my brand new Solia flat iron. I was AMAZED. I never thought I could get such a flat, straight, silky hairstyle without the help of my stylist! The only product I use on my hair anymore is BioSilk Silk Therapy and it works wonders. The Solia is definately something I would recommend. Trust me, you don't know what frizzy is until you've grown up with my hair. I'm mixed so I got the best of both worlds, but it just came with some hard to tame hair.
The Solia is wonderful, I fell in love immeadiately when I ran it through my hair and it was already flatened. If this product can work on MY unruly hair, it will definately work on anyone elses. The shipping was fast (and free) and this product runs through your hair so smoothly. I am so extatic because now I don't have to wait to make a hair appointment and spent $14 to make my hair straight, I can just go to my bathroom, turn on my Solia and do it myself for free!

Love this product! Purchase was quick, simple and Folica kept me informed as to exactly when my iron would arrive - just 3 days after I ordered it. Opened up the package, plugged it in and, Voila, almost instant heat, my other flat iron died after less than 6 months. Smoothed the iron over a section of hair and it was extremely smooth and silky. I only need to to the top layers of my hair, but what a difference it made, from frizz-ball to sleek and soft in no time flat. I couldn't ask for anything more. If you are looking for a great flat iron, this is it! Definitely worth the money. And Folica is a terrific company to deal with. I couldn't be without this iron. Me and my hair are happy again. Better for thin hair

The solia does work well, especially at the high temperatures. However, it's more suitable for thin hair. I have extremely thick, coarse hair. My roommate has a chi and so far, I would rather stick to the chi as it makes my hair smoother than what the solia can do at the highest temperature. I do see the potential of what the solia can do for thin hair. I can see improvements in frizziness and overall volume.

I just purchased the Solia flat iron a few days ago and recieved it today. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical when I first bought it, but I read through some of the reviews and had to try it for myself, and I found that it works AMAZINGLY.
My hair never even snagged once. I have the curliest, thickest hair and it straightened like with no other straightener I'd ever used. It was completey worth the 90-or-so dollars. I'll never use a different straightener.

I ordered the Solia a few days ago from Folica, and got it about a week later (due to holidays and the weekend). I plugged it in as soon as I got it, and it heated up in a matter of seconds - literally.
This item was WORTH THE PRICE. It exceeded my expectations tremendously. I have naturally wavy/frizzy/coarse hair and every other product I used had damaged it even further. I noticed right after I used the Solia that my hair was softer, smooth, and stick straight. I even tried straightening my hair in the bathroom after I took a shower - talk about humid. It straightened JUST AS WELL as a non-humid room. The best part of all this was it was extremely quick! I went from shower to straight hair in about 20 minutes - blowdrying and all!
I highly recommend the straightener to anybody with nasty, horrible hair like mine. It's fast and simple. I love it.

...probably just like everyone else who has gotten this hari straightener, I tried it out immediately and I absolutely love it. I haven't tried it on dry hair but only have used it on damp hair. For me it takes about 5 mintues longer than blowdrying my hair straight, but it is worth it because my hair is so smoothe and shiny. I am waiting for some humidity (not like its 3 days away from JUNE or anything.. stupid weather). Anyway yeah, it is amazing.. my hair never gets crispy or anything.. which is a good thing because I like having hair!!

I received the Solia 1 1/4 inch flat iron about one month ago. Overally I'm pretty happy with it. I would really give it 4 1/2 stars if i could. The on-off switch is in a hard to reach position, so it's easy to burn your hand on it. It get's very hot, which is good because i believe that the hotter the plates the better your hair is straightened. But, i've gotten burnt on it many times, so i'd be careful. It works really well. It's not heavy, and it doesn't pull your hair at all. It used to take me like 45 minutes to straighten my hair and not it taked 15-20.

When it comes to my hair i am extremelyyy picky about the way it comes out when its straight so picky that i usually go to a salon every wekeend to straighten it. When i read the product reviews i was convinced that theres no way this iron is that good but i gave up due to temptation and decided to buy it try it and if i didnt like it, id return it. Well i used it the day i got it and im impressed...it doesnt break my hair and gets it really straight. It took me 35min to straighten my hair as opposed to an hour and a half! If you are having doubts about this item forget them...this is the best iron ive tried and believe me ive tried atleast 10 expensive top notch hair irons.

I LOVE THIS FLAT IRON! I never thought my hair could be so soft and smooth. I thought I would have to go through life with wavy frizzy hair. Not anymore! Just a few passes with this iron and "magic" smooth straight hair.

This product works amazing,it straightens so well even on hair that isnt completly dry. I used it on the night of my 21st birthday in humid Atlanta and I stayed sleek, straight and sexy all night. I love the Solia ceramic straightner and everybody (especially women of color) need to but it.

I was pretty skeptical and even a bit nervous ordering this straightener. I'm not usually an online shopper, and I like seeing things before buying themt. Originally I wanted to buy a Chi, but when I found this website, I saw that the Solia 1" was the best-selling. The price seemed reasonable and shipping and handling was free, so I decided to give it a try. The product came in the mail within 4 business days just like the website said, and I absolutely love it. It works wonders for my hair. My hair is usually pretty straight, but most of the time I go to bed with wet hair and wake up with annoying, wavy hair. This straightener heats up almost instantly, and I don't even have to brush my hair before using it because it smoothes my hair gently. It's not damaging at all, and it even leaves my hair feeling softer. I absolutely love the Solia straightener, it works just as well (if not better) than my friend's $100+ straightener, and I definitely recommend using it.

The best flat iron out there! I've had this for about 2 months now, and I LOVE IT. I received an email from Folica and decided to write another review with pictures for people to see how AMAZING this flat iron is. It makes my hair straight and shiny in less time than my usual styling w/my cheap iron. It also doesn't pull my hair while straightening. It's a good product & I haven't had any problems w/it at all!

I like this product very much I've used a lot of different irons and this one really does what it says it will. I like the fact that it doesn't snag my hair the way other irons do. It also makes my hair so smooth....Its really great! And since I live in a very humid place my hair gets really frizzy but when I use this iron, no frizz!

This is a fabulous product (I bought this style and the travel version). In about 5 minutes I can transform my out-of-control nightmare into a silky smooth straight dream. And, unless it gets wet, it stays that way until I shampoo. Even sleeping on it doesn't destroy the look. And it hasn't damaged my hair! I used to need a lot of conditioners and gels. Now I just wash, use a regular conditioner, dry, straighten and I'm set to go. Couldn't be happier!!!

This iron worked fantastically. It goes up to 450 degrees. My other iron, the Hai Convertable Ceramic Flat Iron, only goes up to 400 degrees. This iron was great - I was able to get my hair straight and smooth in one stroke. I once bought the $190 Japanese ceramic flat iron, but I returned it because it didn't work that well. This Solia iron is much cheaper and works a whole lot better!
