I have not bought a solia staightener yet, and I was wondering if there is a difference between the 1 inch pink solia and the origianal 1 inch black solia.I know that they both have the same number of stars but the pink one is only based on 12 ratings and the black one is based on 312 ratings,so my question is are they the same or different? I had the same question, so I wrote in and asked, and the managment said that there was no difference on the two. Their performance is the same, and they are both equally good. THe only difference is that one is conrtibuting to the Breast Cancer Foundation, so if I were you, I would definately buy that one! | | Reply by Customer Service

i want to buy this hair straightener but i'm not sure whether to get the 1" or the 1.25". i'm korean and my hair's naturally straight, but not flat. it's like wavy-ish... does it make a difference if the plates are bigger or not? The smaller plate size is for smaller hair, if you have long hair you should go for a bigger plate. The smaller plate serves people with smaller hair because it has more control over it. | Does it really make the hair soft?
I spent 115.00 on a Corioliss straightener in October. It heats up to about 400F, and straightens pretty well. However, the top area is always still kind of poofy the first day of straightening (it's straight, but not flat). And I usually wash my hair every other day (as it is bleached and thick, wavy) so I only 3-4 days a week. I want my hair to stay straight on the non-wash days, and usually it does, but it doesn't feel touchable or soft. I don't want to run my fingers through it or anything. Yes, I use deep conditioner, spray on cond., a sealing spray AND skinny serum. So I'm just wondering.... is this really going to be that different? I don't want to waste another big chunk of my money. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Question posted by Nonna Fri Jan 20 2006 Submit your answer | Reply by hair whisperer...lol....

I would honestly try to use less product on your hair.. i think its too much! like eliminate one of the products each time you do your hair and see if using one less is better.. | | Reply by Leah Priest

because you are using a deep conditioner and a spray conditioner on bleached hair your hair isn't going to be as "flat" as you want it because since you bleach your hair thats going to make your hair very porous and absorb every amount of conditioner you put on it. if i were you i would use Aveda's line of Brilliant. its made for thick wavy which is what i use. its not going to put too much moisture into your hair so your hair won't be poofy, and it won't weigh your hair down to make it look dirty. | curls?

I just received my new solia 1" iron and the ceramic plates only touch in the front when I close it lightly with no pressure. There is a gap between the plates about 3/4 of the length of it. Is this normal for this iron or is it defective? Question posted by nadine Wed Nov 09 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by customer service

Hi all, I have a 1" Solia. I am having trouble with figuring out how I can get it to curl. I wrap my hair around the barrel, but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Question posted by E Thu Sep 01 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Caroline

If you read under tips and advice someone left a tip about this. You could straighten a strand of hair then go back to the same strand and instead of going straight down turn the straightner up, kind of roll it towards you as you straighten. | | Reply by S

This is what worked for me but it's hard to describe... remember that only the inside of the iron is hot, not the outside so you can't use it like a normal curling iron. You start the iron at the top of the strand, and slowly "twirl" the iron down the strand so that all parts of the strand go through the hot plates while turning the iron. Keep the iron vertical and rotate it while the hair moves through. It definitely takes some practice. And watch your fingers while doing it. | For Chi users
did you find that it worked better than the Chi iron? Question posted by Shan from GA Wed Aug 31 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Hilda

YES. I have curly hair, almost "perm like" but its naturally curly and I got a CHI iron from my mom for Christmas, it works good but it pulls your hair and burns your hair, specially the ends. My cousin has a Solia iron and when I spent a night I used it, it such a difference! I use to get straight hair with three or more strokes per section, now - one or two and its straight!! Straighter then ever, Jennifer Aniston straight! So since it works great, I use very little styling products. With CHI I would do my hair only two to three times a week because of the damage, with the Solia, I flat iron my hair EVERY DAY and my hair is healthier then before, trust the reviews BUY IT!! I got one for my sister and one for my best friend! | | Reply by Ann

Definitely it is... My sister used it and when she saw my hair after i had used the solia straightner, she returned it and bought this one! | 1" - 1.25"? Plus how do I make spiral curls with it?
I've had all kinds of flat irons, and have tried all sizes ranging from 2-1/2"-1" have been used on my hair. I realized that the 1-3/4 inch or wider plates don't give me the polished look or style my bangs the way a smaller plated iron does. I have medium-long hair that is thick and wavy, but its very easy to manage and to try different things with it. I asked my stylist if should get 1" or 1-1/4" and she said they would work the same, so it really didnt matter. So I ordered the 1" but now I'm really worried (and confused) that it wont straighten my hair as well or make it as smooth. Should I return it and get the 1-1/4" ? Also is anyone able to make spiral curls with the Solia, if so, which size works best? Quick reply is appreciated...thanks :) Question posted by Lana Fri Aug 12 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Helena

Well I have always used the 1" just cause I feel it works better than bigger flat irons. I think the bigger flat irons are for people who have super long hair. Plus if your wantting to curl with it you should most diffenetly go with the 1". By the way if you look at other peoples questions someone already asked how to curl with a flat iron. Two people replyed and answere and they both gave a good description of how to do it. I would take a look if I were you. | what size
I am going to buy this iron but not sure what size to go with! My hair is shoulder lenght, very fine, but lots of hair. I like that you can use it on damp hair just hope it works! I have never used a straigher before so I need some help! Please Question posted by Jessica Tue Aug 09 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Chicago Hair Studio
