This iron carries one year warranty and based on the reviews that I have read so far, it should be a good quality and fairly durable iron. I have had mine for 8 months now and still works great. We will see how well it performs after a year. At least it is doing better than the CHI that I had before! | Solia or Sedu???
i already owned a solia straightener and was very pleased. it broke however (fell on the floor, my fault!) so i decided to shop for a new one. I saw that the sedu has very good ratings too, and i need the straightener before i leave for a month on July 1st (the solia is out of stock and wont ship until June 30). Should i just go with a different size solia, or try sedu?? Question posted by sara Wed Jun 22 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by teresa

haha... i did the same thing... oops... lol.. I bought sedu to replace my solia though. i was really happy with solia, but i figure i wanna try sedu too. I think i like sedu a little bit better. So go with sedu | Can you use any straightener on damp hair?
I was thinking about purchasing a flat iron that can be used on damp or dry hair. I've seen a few of these (Conair & Remington) straigteners at Target. Is it neccessary to buy a flat iron that specifically states it can be used on wet or dry hair? Or can you use any flat iron on wet hair? definitely need to check to see if it states specifically the iron can be used on damp hair, otherwise it is gonna damage your hair and break the iron too. Solia states it works on damp hair. | | Reply by smile

Yes you do need to look to see if u are able to use on damp hair...i used to have a conair w/ ceramic plates and i used it on my damp hair and it just fries your hair and if u want to strighten it while its damp w/ a conair it will frie your hair but thats a risk you take and it takes several stokes to get it stright! DON'T USE CONAIR PEOPLE! ITS THE WORST STRIGHTNER I'VE EVER OWNED! (my opinon) it fries my hair even when its dry! | My hair is very fine & thin, which flat iron would you reccomend?
I currently have the Hot Tools 2-1/4" gold tone flat iron and don't really like it. I have a ton of split ends all over my hair. I have somewhat naturally wavey hair & it's extremly fine, thin & baby soft. I am considering buying a ceramic flat iron with smaller plates. Are smaller plates better than the larger ones? I think ceramic is definitly better for your hair than the traditional irons, correct? Which iron(s) would you reccomend for my type of hair? I'd like to keep it under $100.00 Question posted by Julie L. Valdez Wed Jun 22 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Happy Customer

If you are looking for a quality flat iron under $100.00, Solia is definitely your best bet. smaller plates are easier to handle, I mean my hair is about 4-5 inches below my shoulder and i use 1-1/4" and it works really well for my hair. | Warrenty

Yes, usually using a higher heat setting helps to prolong the straightening effect, also you can use a straightening and anti-frizz serum before and after straightening to help fight off humidity. | i am a kid.....is it reasonable?

Depending on your hair length, if your hair is at least 2-3 inches pass your shoulder, I would recommend the larger size of 1-3/4", otherwise, you should stick with this size 1-1/4". You can order directly online with a credit card | | Reply by Beeshee

I have the same type of hair, and I have found that the 1 and 3/4 inch or larger is the best. It can do wider and more thicker chunks of hair than the smaller irons, and takes less time to do as a result. | | Reply by Molly Cohen

Either will do. Smaller one is easier to use, and you can curl with it too.
Large one (1-3/4") will straighten your hair faster. | Silkener for Black folks
