Does size matter?
I need to know the difference in the sizes. I'm confused by the pictures. The 1" looks bigger than the 1 3/4" and the 1 1/4". I'm totally new to the straightener thing. Can someone help? Does the bigger the number mean the smaller the plates? Sounds weird!

I know how you feel, staighteners can be kind of confusing. Technically, the biggest plate width is the 1 3/4 then the 1 1/4 and at the end is the 1 inch. I found the the plate width should correspond to your hair length. For me, I have shoulder length hair so I go in the range of the 1 1/4. I used to have a 1 3/4 which was just to big for me. Hope I helped!

Does this damage your hair
Does this product damage your hair as bad as a flat iron at a store like Wal-Mart? If you use it daily will the ends of your hair get dried and break off?

I use mine daily and i never have breakage and since it is more of an expensive iron and has ceramic plates it does less damage. I dont experience any extreme damage or any minor for that that matter. although, as with any iron, you should always use some kind of a flat iron protection spray. it does not have to be an expensive brand either. hope i helped!!

Humidity?
I live in southern louisiana and whenever I blowdry my hair, it looks great before I leave the house, but when I go outside, it gets wavy. Will the Solia keep my hair straight even through humidity?

i really think it depends on the typeof hair you have and whatproducts you use. i live in new orleans and my hair hardly frizzes. i have very coarse and thick curly hair and i use a product before i iron. but my sister hair does not last for one day. she uses the solia too but puts no products in it.she has much finer curly hair.also She has always had a scalp that would sweat causing her hair to frizz. i hope this helps.

Between the CHI and Solia
I used to own a CHI and it was great, but it stopped working... Now i have to get a new one and I can't decide between a CHI and Solia. Both products seem to be really good. Which one is the better choice?

you should most deffinately go with the solia. A couple of my friedns bought the chi and it only works for a few months then just stops working. I have a solia and it works awsome. I have only had it for a few months but my friend has had her for over a year and it still works like the first day she had it!!

My Solia hasn't arrived at my house yet but DO NOT USE HOT TOOLS! Hot Tools was the cause of my once healthy, now severely damaged hair. When I used hot tools, my hair would fall out because the iron pulled it, break because my hair could get caught on the sides and I'd literally have to yank it out, and got major split ends. I feel that my hair will never be the same. Spend a little extra money and get the Solia, trust me, it's worth it in the end when you're paying for a haircut every two weeks because of the Hot Tools.

Are the Solia irons usable in Europe?
Hi I am in London and interesting in buying a Solia Processional Ceramic Iron, can you tell me what the voltage is and whether they will work in Europe? Many thanks, Angie

You'll probably need a converter -- I travel between Chicago and London a bit, and I always have to borrow a plug converter from the hotel because none of my appliances work over there. They should be available at any travel or hardware store, and fairly cheap.

Hi, I am currently studying abroad in Malaga, Spain. The voltage here is 220 and up. I am guessing it is the same for all of Europe, but I am not sure. I recently bought the solia, and I am waiting for it to arrive. It has 120 volts. Now, I use my curling iron which is also 120 volts with a transformer that ranges from 125 volts to 220 volts. It works fine. SO I am hoping that the flat iron will work. I will keep you posted and let you know how it turns out.

i have used both the solia and the sedu.. in my opinion the sedu is better if u have longer and thicker hair.. but if your hair is thin or short the solia one is best.. and have not tried the hai but some of my friends have and they have said that they like my solia better.. hope that helps..

i takes the same amount of time to straighten it with a smaller one. plus with the tinier one you can get closer the the roots!

Long lasting?
I have just ordered the Solia Professional Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1-1/4") on 7/25/05 and noticed that in the product details the warranty is only for a year. Has anyone had it more than a year? If so, does it still work as good as you first used it? Responses are greatly appreciated.Thank You

i've had mine for 2 years. i ordered my iron in 2003, and up until 2-3 months ago it still worked perfectly. recently the light flickers on and off and i have to turn the cord a certain way for it to stay on. (i'm in the market for a new one). as long as you take care of it properly and use it wisely, it should work fine for a good while.
