I have naturally long, curly hair which isn't too thick. I've read the Solia can heat up to 450 degrees. How hot would you recommend to put it at in order not to fry out my hair. Does it depend on how curly your hair is? Question posted by Gina Sun Aug 28 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by ndiva

I would start at 300 degrees and see how that does. Then you can see straight results without frying your hair. If you want to go straighter, then try 370 degrees. It won't fry your hair. Also, be sure to use your straightening balm for your hair type which will give you a sleeker look and prevent damage. I hear L'oreal Anti-frizz is great. | | Reply by Dayna

Mine is about 10 seconds or less | adjusting plates
Are the adjusting plates a problem with this iron? Is it difficult to work with? I am debating between the Solia (1 1/4")and the Sedu (1 1/2"), but from what I am reading the Solia may be better because the plates are rounded. Does that make a big difference? Since they are both relatively expensive, I want to get the best one for my money. My hair is extremely thick and wavy, and past my shoulders. I also would rather not get the largest size, as I am considering getting some length cut on my hair. Question posted by Amy Thu Aug 18 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Hannah Matthews

I am almost 13 and have horrible, frizzy, poofy, thick, wavy hair and the solia 1 1/4" ceramic iron is the first ceramic iron I have purchased. and I love it! It does wonders to my hair! It works sooooooo well. I have never used the sedu so I could not tell you how well it works compared to the solia. The adjusting plates are no problem for me and the rounded plates are a plus as they can be used to flip or curl your hair. But I would definately recommend that you purchase the solia. In all honesty I think that you will fall in love with it. It is the first and only iron i will ever use!! | how can i return this product if i don't like it?

Yes, Folica offers 30 days money guarantee. | does this flat iron dry out your hair?
I am considering whether or not to purchase this flat iron (Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron ). The one I currently have dries out my hair a lot. I was wondering if someone out there has been using this daily or almost daily and how dry your hair is. Does this flat iron create dry, brittle hair with split ends? Your hair should be protected with a silicone-based hair serum prior to flat-ironing. I use the Fructis Straight and sleek on my towel dried hair. I then blowdry my hair until slightly damp. I apply a few sprays of flat iron protectant such as Matrix Sleek before using the Solia. Make sure to run the flat iron through your hair as fast as possible. I have naturally dry and coarse hair but find that if I do the above my hair does not get damaged. ( I also never use my flat iron or any other hot hair appliances more than 3 times a week in order to keep my hair healthy) | | Reply by Hannah Matthews

I use the solia regularly (everyday), as I wash my hair everyday.I use a cheap flat iron protection spray (Beyond The Zone - Turn Up The Heat flat iron protection spray - $5.99 at local beuty supply store)and I have not had my iron very long (about 2 months)but my hair never seems to be dried out or damaged. It is always smooth and silky. And i love the iron it works wonders for my horrible, wavy, frizzy, poofy, thick hair. | cleaning

I noticed this as well. All I do is take a damp soft cloth, like an old t-shirt, and gently rub the plates clean. Do not use any abrasive detergent or it will scratch the plates. Also, make sure te iron is completely cool before attempting to clean. I try to clean after every use so the residue dosen't build up. | Natural "Black" Hair
I am interested in buying the Solia, but I have natural "black" hair. Is there anyone out there with Natural hair who has used this product? If so let me know. Question posted by Dee-Dee Mon Aug 15 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Katie

Girl please. I used a chi iron for years until it blew up and now i ordered this iron because the black hair beaticians are using it. My hair is natural. I wash it and let it air dry and then straighten it with the iron. it looks great. 30 days or your money back. well worth it. | What Nationality is the Solia Brand?

I have never tried the sedu, only the solia, but i love the solia and recommend it to anyone. All hair types. | Frizzies?
Does the Solia cause frizzing at the top of the crown and along your part? I know that some of the cheap straighteners due this, I'm assuming due to breakage. Any one had any (good or bad) experiences with this with the Solia? Thanks! Question posted by Sam Tue Aug 09 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Hannah Matthews
