i also have curly hair and it takes less than 10 minutes. My hair is not too thick though, it may take you a bit longer if your is curlier than mine. but it still works really good, and heats up in less than 20 seconds. | Straight at ends...
My hair always curls up at the ends... or it won't even straighten at alll.Does this straightenier keep your ends straight?I have curly thick hair that goes to th middle of my back. Question posted by Maddie Wed Nov 07 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Liz

It will, but for my hair it will flip at the ends a little bit. Spraying a light misty hairspray over the straightened hair will keep it straight for the most part. | | Reply by alex

this straightener is better for men because its thinner and meant for shorter hair:

it keeps it straight until you wash your hair and get it wet again. | Size
I have very thick hair down to my shoulders but I plan on growing it out. What size Iron should I buy the 1 1/4 or the 1 3/4? Question posted by Kelley Hughes Sat Oct 27 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Liz

The 1-1/4 it's perfect for about any length, since your hair is still shoulder length and growing it out, this size is a bit bigger rather that a 1 inch, so any hair type. I don't like any bigger ones because anything bigger tends to damage faster. | does this dry out hair like the other straightener?
i was first introduced to this product by a friend. she has pretty straight hair compared to mine but she says that the tourmaline striahgteners are the best for keeping ur hair healthy and soft. i have a straightener now that gets the job done but it just ruins my hair and dries it out terribly...i was wondering if this straighteners will help prevent that somewhat? yes, but use a heat protectant
sedu moisturizing heat protecting boost is best. | Thick, Curly Hair about 3 in. Past Sholder
I'm debating about the 1 1/4 in. and the 1 3/4 in. My hair is thick AND curly and typically it is a few inches past my shoulder. My current straighter is about 2 in., so I'm afraid to drop all the way down to 1 1/4 in. Any suggests? Question posted by Ashley Bee Mon Oct 01 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Someone

I would say go with the 1 1/4 inch. It will work, even on way curly hair, and the bigger the iron, the faster it damages. | Finger grips?
Hi I am thinking of buying this, but I was wondering if it has a place to put your fingers when you want extra grip using other hand at the tip. I have a hot tools at the moment(ok at first, not so much now) and I like being able to use both hands sometimes. yes it does | does citrishine shine serum protect against heat?
will that be enough to protect my hair from the solia... or the garnier fructis sleek and shine leave in conditioner? Question posted by Claire Tue Aug 21 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Trini

NO! Garnier Fructis sleek & shine DOES NOT protect your hair from heat damage, many people beleive it does, but I'm sorry to say it DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR HAIR, IN FACT IT WEIGHS DOWN YOUR HAIR, which is bad! If you're looking for a good heat protectant, pick one of the following:
Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum - This costs $15.95 (5.1 ounces) on Folica, you can also get it from CVS for 20 dollars. This one really makes your hair shiny and soft and smooth.
FHI Heat Hot Sauce- This costs $14.00 for 2 ounces on Folica. A bit pricey, but OOH LA LA! Works beautifully and makes your hair really soft and shiny.
Sedu Heat Protectants- These cost $12.99 for a 8 ounce spray bottle on Folica, they only protect your hair, but don't add much shine.
Basically, if you're looking for the cheapest one, use any Sedu Heat Protectant on Folica. If you want one that will make your hair really shiny and soft and smooth, get Super Skinny Serum. Use FHI Hot Sauce if you don't care about prices. Good Luck! | | Reply by Customer Service

No, CitreShine does not protect hair against heat damage, nor does Garnier. Refer to the above message which is very helpful. | CURL. yes or no?
Well Iam thinking about buying a solia straightner. I still don't know if i should buy it...or buy the corioliss black straightner. Well if i get the solia, can i still curl my hair with the 1 1/4 in plate???? because i think that the 1 inch might be too small for my hair because i have very thick hair about up to my shoulders. But i want the one inch solia because i read that it can curl ur hair too...so can any one tell me if u can also curl ur hair with the 1 1/4 plate wide solia???????? When I went to the Mall she said it the 1 1/4 can curl it, because of the heat. | | Reply by Stacey

I have both the corioliss black 1 inch and the solia 1 1/4 inch, and they both work pretty much the same, I would buy the solia 1 1/4 inch before the corioloss only because it dont snag your hair, it glides more smoothly. I have to go over my hair several times with both the flat irons to get straight sleek results, but the solia want snag and thats a plus, also you can still do curls with it. | | Reply by Customer Service

You can definitely curl with the solia 1 1/4" Any size flat iron will curl (especially the ones with rounded edges like the solia) but you will just acheive a different look, just like using a different barrel size curling iron. | | Reply by jessie

Here's the thing. I tried using this iron to curl my hair and it curled it fantastically. But when I tried to curl my sister's hair it just made dents. Someone told me that some people's hair can't be curled with flat irons. |
