1) It does work well for other styles 2) It depends on your hair type, mine is wavy/curly and only takes about 7 mins. for me to get it straight, faster than drug store flat irons for sure. 3)It is okay for damp hair, but it takes longer and it will steam a lot, I don't reommend it because it tends to burn your hair more. 4) It does make your hair soft and silky, I am pleased with the results it has given me each time, it is less damaging and makes a healthier appearance. 5) You have to put the right amount in, I recommend Tresseme heat protection, it is cheap and really works. just spray it lightly on wet or dry hair around whole head about 6 inches away. If it the liquid kind then put a dime size amount in your hand and rub it then work it through your whole hair. Always use heat protection to prevent breakage and split ends. | | Reply by ashleigh

you can do other styles. For me to straighten the top of my hair, it takes maybe 5 minutes, but for me to get all of my hair straight, really straight, it takes more like 30-45 minutes. I have natural, loose, spiral curls. It works okay on slightly damp hair, but I usually let my hair dry naturally and then straighten, or get it mostly dry with a drier. It REALLY makes my hair soft and silky AND shiny. My hair looks kinda dull/frizzy and this straightener works really well. I have also tried a couple other professional brands and over the counter ones and this one is my favorite. I haven't tried sedu or chi though. I don't think the heat guard made my hair oily? | | Reply by alex

The solia is a great product, i just got it and i shocked at the results. It does curl your hair but i am not sure if it flips because i haven't been able to try that yet cause i just got it. i am sure that works to. anyways, i have curly hair and it takes less than 10 minutes to straighten my hair. I just take big sections and it works well. you may have to go over it twice if you take big sections like i do, but if you do one strand it does it in one swipe. i am not sure if it does damp too dry cause i haven't tried that yet. my hair is soft and silky. the end are a little dry but that is my fault because i haven't got a hair cut in a while. i also didn't use any products like conditor, or leave in conditonor, or heat protector. My hair is not oily, but i just straightend my hair and i have only used it twice but the first time i took a shower after and second time, well i just did it so its been a few hours. so far i am loving this straightener best one i have ever used. | SOLIA VS. i also have curly hair and it takes less than 10 minutes. My hair is not too thick though, it may take you a bit longer if your is curlier than mine. but it still works really good, and heats up in less than 20 seconds. | Straight at ends...
My hair always curls up at the ends... or it won't even straighten at alll.Does this straightenier keep your ends straight?I have curly thick hair that goes to th middle of my back. Question posted by Maddie Wed Nov 07 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Liz

It will, but for my hair it will flip at the ends a little bit. Spraying a light misty hairspray over the straightened hair will keep it straight for the most part. | | Reply by alex

this straightener is better for men because its thinner and meant for shorter hair:

it keeps it straight until you wash your hair and get it wet again. | Size
I have very thick hair down to my shoulders but I plan on growing it out. What size Iron should I buy the 1 1/4 or the 1 3/4? Question posted by Kelley Hughes Sat Oct 27 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Liz

The 1-1/4 it's perfect for about any length, since your hair is still shoulder length and growing it out, this size is a bit bigger rather that a 1 inch, so any hair type. I don't like any bigger ones because anything bigger tends to damage faster. | does this dry out hair like the other straightener?
i was first introduced to this product by a friend. she has pretty straight hair compared to mine but she says that the tourmaline striahgteners are the best for keeping ur hair healthy and soft. i have a straightener now that gets the job done but it just ruins my hair and dries it out terribly...i was wondering if this straighteners will help prevent that somewhat? yes, but use a heat protectant
sedu moisturizing heat protecting boost is best. | Thick, Curly Hair about 3 in. Past Sholder
I'm debating about the 1 1/4 in. and the 1 3/4 in. My hair is thick AND curly and typically it is a few inches past my shoulder. My current straighter is about 2 in., so I'm afraid to drop all the way down to 1 1/4 in. Any suggests? Question posted by Ashley Bee Mon Oct 01 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Someone

I would say go with the 1 1/4 inch. It will work, even on way curly hair, and the bigger the iron, the faster it damages. | Finger grips?
Hi I am thinking of buying this, but I was wondering if it has a place to put your fingers when you want extra grip using other hand at the tip. I have a hot tools at the moment(ok at first, not so much now) and I like being able to use both hands sometimes.
