I am possibly interested in purchasing a Solia Iron. I am TOTALLY stuck on whether to get a 1" or a 1.25"!! What are the advantages / disadvantages of each? My hair is kind of bobbed, above my shoulders. Usually I wear it about chin length. It's EXTREMELY thick, coarse, & has some very wavy areas mixed with straighter areas. My hair is rather difficult...so I want the easiest thing to use that will do the job & do it quickly. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Question posted by Tammy Sat Mar 01 2008 Submit your answer | Reply by 612dct

I haven't used the 1", but from what I've heard, the 1 1/4" one is the one to get (or at least it's the most popular). | Does it take less time to straighten your hair with the Solia?
I am african american, jamaican, indian, native american, and english so I have thick long extremely curly hair (like 3b curls). It take about an hour and a half to straighten my hair with my current flat iron, will this straightener cut off time? Question posted by meee Thu Feb 21 2008 Submit your answer Help
I can't decide on wether to buy the Solia 1 1/4 inch or the Sedu best Seller one. Both products have great reviews but the sedu has a 2 year warranty while this one only has a 1 year warranty. So does the Solia break easily such as the Chi or does it last a long time. Also, has anyone owned both the solia and sedu, which one straightened better? I think I have had this iron for 3 years or so..maybe longer..I use it 3 times a week and carry it back and forth between houses. It still works great haha. I get bored so I'm like gee maybe i should try something else? Then again why mess with a good thing? You won't be needing that warranty. | | Reply by Dana K.

I still have my 1 inch Solia from about 6 years ago and use it almost daily. I'm growing my hair out, so I plan on buying the one with the wider plates now. | | Reply by Tallulah

I have long thick wavy hair and have tried both the solia and the sedu. The sedu doesn't get as hot as the solia which you really need with wavy/curly hair. The results were pretty much the same with both irons but the solia actually took less time. Also the solia is less money. Both are great irons but I would go for the solia (which I currently own) hope this helps. | African American hair
I have stopped relaxing my hair, and I am now pressing it. I want to know if the iron will get my hair straight at the scalp area and also in the back, and what should I use so that it will not be dry. Question posted by Ray Fri Jan 11 2008 Submit your answer | Reply by d

be sure to use a deep conditioner once a week or once every 2 weeks to help keep moisture in it and replenish nutrients. i've found that this has helped my hair to be more manageable. i'm not sure if you blow dry your hair first, but before i straighten mine with the iron, i always blow dry using some heat protection spray along with john frieda's frizz-ease straightening balm. by the time i'm done doin this, it's usually straight at the roots and i use the flat iron along with more heat protection spray for a smooth silky finish. OH! it's important to give yourself hot oil treatments too. i do those once a week, deep condition usually every 2. hope that helps. | poofy
hey!can anybody help me? i have wavy hair and i have a really bad cheap straightener.with this straightener it tends to take long to straighten but when i am done its perfect, about an hour later my hair is really poofy and frizzy andcurls in at the ends ...if i get the solia, will all this stop?and not get nasty in humidity? :) thank you!! i just got the solia, the shipping was so fast. The solia is a great straightener, it heats up so fast. i also have curly hair thats, not to thick but thick enough. I found the solia staightend my hair within 10 minutes or less. i was shocked my previus one which was also professional took more than 30 minutes. I found it made my hair thinner when i straightend it, this made it way easier to style my hair. you can put it on 450 degrees which is very helpful. i suggest using a heat protector though. its really good you can't get much better than this. | thin hair
I have thin hair that goes to my sholders, what size of iron should i use?? Question posted by Rachel Wed Jan 02 2008 Submit your answer | Reply by User

To the highest heat, it will get 450 degrees F. There are different heat settings you can adjust it to. It only takes about 10 seconds to get to the highest point. | | Reply by Gab

this straightener is really good. it heats up in less than 20 seconds. It goes up to 450 degrees, when i finished doing a strand of hair my hair is still very hot. if you hold the black part at the top of the straighter for too long in one spot you can feel your hand burn. Trust me its hot. | curl, flip...
Does the solia iron do anything other than straighten? Can it also be used to curl or flip hair? Question posted by Margie Fri Nov 30 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by ham

I have a few questions. 1. is it good for curls and other styles 2. how long does straightening take 3. does it work well on damp hair and will it dry it 4. does it REALLY make your hair soft and silky and 5. does the heat guard and stuff make your hair oily? Thanks Question posted by Callie Fri Nov 23 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Liz

1) It does work well for other styles 2) It depends on your hair type, mine is wavy/curly and only takes about 7 mins. for me to get it straight, faster than drug store flat irons for sure. 3)It is okay for damp hair, but it takes longer and it will steam a lot, I don't reommend it because it tends to burn your hair more. 4) It does make your hair soft and silky, I am pleased with the results it has given me each time, it is less damaging and makes a healthier appearance. 5) You have to put the right amount in, I recommend Tresseme heat protection, it is cheap and really works. just spray it lightly on wet or dry hair around whole head about 6 inches away. If it the liquid kind then put a dime size amount in your hand and rub it then work it through your whole hair. Always use heat protection to prevent breakage and split ends. | | Reply by ashleigh

you can do other styles. For me to straighten the top of my hair, it takes maybe 5 minutes, but for me to get all of my hair straight, really straight, it takes more like 30-45 minutes. I have natural, loose, spiral curls. It works okay on slightly damp hair, but I usually let my hair dry naturally and then straighten, or get it mostly dry with a drier. It REALLY makes my hair soft and silky AND shiny. My hair looks kinda dull/frizzy and this straightener works really well. I have also tried a couple other professional brands and over the counter ones and this one is my favorite. I haven't tried sedu or chi though. I don't think the heat guard made my hair oily? | | Reply by alex

The solia is a great product, i just got it and i shocked at the results. It does curl your hair but i am not sure if it flips because i haven't been able to try that yet cause i just got it. i am sure that works to. anyways, i have curly hair and it takes less than 10 minutes to straighten my hair. I just take big sections and it works well. you may have to go over it twice if you take big sections like i do, but if you do one strand it does it in one swipe. i am not sure if it does damp too dry cause i haven't tried that yet. my hair is soft and silky. the end are a little dry but that is my fault because i haven't got a hair cut in a while. i also didn't use any products like conditor, or leave in conditonor, or heat protector. My hair is not oily, but i just straightend my hair and i have only used it twice but the first time i took a shower after and second time, well i just did it so its been a few hours. so far i am loving this straightener best one i have ever used. | SOLIA VS. CHI
