Must-Have Products To Buy From Folica When You Buy Any Flat Iron submitted by: Macky Melize, Sun Aug 26 2007

Thinking of buying a flat iron? Well, there's more to it than just a flat iron. When you buy a flat iron from Folica be sure that you buy these along with your flat iron! These products will ensure that your flat iron will last long, be easier to use, and straighten your hair much faster. This tip doesn't just go for the Sedu, make sure you get these products with ANY flat iron.
1. Time after time, build-up will cling to your flat iron, coating your precious flat iron in gunk and burnt residue. This will cause your hair to stink and also it will take you longer to flat iron your hair. Clean it with Sedu Professional Styling Iron Cleaner which is sold on Folica for $6.99
2. Using heat on your hair frequently will cause damage to your hair, BUT not if you use a heat protectant! If you're looking for a high-quality heat protectant, get FHI Heat Hot Sauce, which is sold on Folica for $14.00. OR you can get any Sedu Heat Protectant for $12.99. They have heat protectants that volumize, moisturize, and smoothe your hair. If your hair is color treated, you can get one that is for Colored hair.
3. It is much easier to flat iron your hair if you put it into sections before you straighten it, and clipping your hair away so it doesn't get in the way of the section you are straightening can make the job go quicker. Use Metropolis The Crane Hair Clips to clip your hair into sections while flat-ironing it. These clips cost $9.99 for a box of 6 clips.
4. When you store your flat iron, make sure it is kept where it can't get dusty, dirty, kicked around, stepped on, or damaged. I keep my flat iron inside the Folica Heat Proof Iron Mat/Pouch which currently comes free with all flat irons. When you are not using it, slip it inside the pouch with the plates closed and the plug UNPLUGGED, resting on top of the pouch. While you are straightening your hair, you can also use it as a mat to not burn countertops and such.
So, there you have it! Four must-have flat iron essentials to get with your flat iron. Make sure you grab all these products from Folica when you get a flat iron!
How to get that smooth, sleek, straight and silky hair submitted by: Jennifer, Tue Mar 27 2007

1. Invest in a quality shampoo and conditioner that is for your hair type(dry/color-treated,damaged,or normal/oily)
2. I recommend getting a good deep conditioner/reconstructor/hot oil treatments (once or twice a month), because since you'll be straightening often, it will do your hair wonders.
3. Use a hair serum that is heat protected. It can be used before and after blow drying.
4. You can either blow dry or air dry your hair. If you decided to blow dry, use the lowest setting possible.
5. Then flat iron your hair. Find the right temperature, you don't want to fry your hair.
If you try this, I guarantee you that your hair will be smoother, sleeker, straighter, silkier and sexier than ever before. To get better results, buy quality products. Yes, it may be expensive. But it's definitely worth it! And remember, the less product you use, the better the results will be. Always follow the directions of the product. The more product you use, the more money you'll be throwing down the drain. Oh, get a LEAVE IN CONDITIONER! It is the best!

If you are a straightening junkie like myself , here are a few tricks to keep you hair looking amazing even with all the heat and straightening.
1st- I recommend letting hair air dry versus using a blow dryer(unneccessary dble heat).
2nd- Add a heat protector serum to damp hair like "Redken Heat Glide", by the way this an amazing product.
3rd- straightena s usual, if you like more volume give less attention to your roots (thats where your natural volume is)
4th- If you have dry/naturally curly hair like me, I tend to go a week between washings. I can do this beacuse I use as litlle product in my hair as possible...and stay away from roots which are producing a natural lustre(oil) anyhow. Always using serum on the ends which dry out so quickly and tend to make the hair look damaged. In between washings I use a dry shampoo(Sephora has a great one) which comes in an aersol can and is sprayed onto the hair to absorb odor and oils.
5th- when washing your hair us a clarifying shampoo to get all product buildup of the hair and scalp and top off with a much needed heavy duty hydrator like "Joico"
I swear by these tricks and no will never know the abuse you put you hair through with all the heat from your flat iron. It'll look amazing, silky and soft, and no one will ever know you weren't born with awesome hair!

when you straighten your hair, make sure that you do it in layers starting from the bottom layer. Also be sure to keep the straightener going straight down instead of at an angle (this tends to make kinks at the root of your hair).
