I got this straighter for Christmas 2008 from my husband. I have had about 6 other kind and this one, IS THE BEST!!! My daughter has had several herself that cost between $25.00 and $140.00. She uses mine now. She had one from the mall "Herstyler"--burned her hair and the plates broke after 5 months. This straighter does not burn your hair, heats up in 30 seconds, hair shines and feels so soft and the best part you don't have to keep going over the same piece again and again. I just purchases two more. One for my daughters birthday and one to have on hand if and when mine plays out.

This is the best flat iron out there right now. I have really thick hair and it is always hard to keep down, even after it's been pressed or just plain iron. With Solia flat iron, I can go for 5 days without ironing my hair again. Believe me, I've used the iron to iron clothes, I've used hot combs, I've use them all and nothing works as good as Solia. Thank you for a great product.

I have this hair iron for 2 years until i dropped it and got broken it works so good in my hair and it's thin making it very easy to use. I am ordering another one, no doubt this hair iron is worth the price.

I asked for this flat iron for Christmas and was soooo excited when i get it!!It works REALLY well...my friend got a chi for Christmas and I have to say that though chi is a great flat iron, the solia is just all around better. The only thing that bothers me is that it sometimes fells a little flimsy, but on the uphand its very lightweiht! It keeps my hair shiny and straight all day and it only takes me 10 to 15 minutes to straighten my (relatively thick) hair in the mornings compared to the 40 minutes it took with my HAI! I LUV LUV LUV this flat iron and would totally recomend this to anyone!!

I've just purchased my 2nd Solia Pink Limited Edition Flat Iron. I had my 1st one for 2 years and it worked wonderfully until I stepped on it and broke it. I knew I would purchase another. I'm African American with very thick kinky/curly and this flat iron always gets my hair pin straight. Luvs it, and I will continue to patron Solia products.

This is my first flat iron. I researched what I would need for my fine, thin, ever-so-soft, gray hair and this Solia fit every requirement. I never knew I could style my hair myself and have it look so good. And it will last another day if I need it to. My hair isn't damaged at all and looks so nice, all of the time. I love it.

Works great! Definately works for short to medium hair, heats up fast. The only downfall is that it does not have an automatic shut-off. Love the long swivel cord.

I love love love this flat iron. When my CHI went out, I wasn't sure I wanted another because it didn't hold up very well (i.e. plates coming apart) so I read the reviews for this one and decided to try it. I like the fact that it has an adjustable temperature, even though mine always has to be on the highest because of the texture of my hair. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is due to the fact that after about a year the power cord started giving me problems making it cut off but I sent it back in and was promptly sent a replacement. If you have thick, curly hair, then this is the flat iron for you!

I HAD THIS FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS TODAY, I TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT , I DONT USE IT EVERY DAY. I WASTED MORE MONEY ON IT BECAUSE I FIGURED OKAY IF IM GOING TO BUY A HAIR STRAIGHTNER IT MIGHT AS WELL BE A GOOD ONE. IF I KNEW THAT IN LESS THEN 90 DAYS IT WOULDNT TURN ON I WOULD HAVE NEVER WASTED THAT MUCH MONEY ON IT! SO DISAPPOINTED, IT WORKED GOOD WHILE IT LASTED. AND LIKE I SAID BEFORE I DONT EVEN USE IT EVERY DAY MY HAIR JUST GETS A LITTLE FRIZZY SO MOST OF THE TIME I DONT STRAIGHTEN IT ALL. DONT RECCOMAND IT.

I have very thick curly hair and I used to straighten my hair with a jil bere hair straightner. But I realized that it started making my hair smell so horrible and it would always frizz up throughout my day no matter how many times I went over it. Thanks to this awesome hair straightner I only have to go through it once or twice and it stays straight all day. The plates on this straightner make my hair so shiny and healthy looking. I love it :D Plus it stays straight until I wash it :) get it! You won't regret it trust me.

If I could I would give all my friends one as a gift! I love my Solia, I also have the 1 1/4 inch black Solia. I have recommended it to all my friends and let them use it too just so they can see. I am mixed*black/white so I have to relax my hair and the Solia is perfect after I blow my hair straight, keeping it straighter longer in btwn relaxers. I let my Greek(white)friend used it and she ended up buying one too for her wavy hair. My other friend(black) bought one too for her relaxed long hair. I would recommend it to everyone. There is no heat damage, removes frizz and if it rains my hair still looks good. And I figured out how to make some great curls with my pink Solia. Love it, Buy it.

Better than any review..trust me because I read them all before chosing the Solia straightener. Since I have a lot of hair as a blonde vs. thick hair, my hair looked damaged even with the best products on the market for smoothing, etc. By far, the Solia not only straightened my hair without those trashy creases so many hair straighteners cause, but smoothed it as well with minimal effort. I use it with DRUGSTORE CHEAP SMOOTHING/STRAIGHTENING CREAMS truly cost-effective. This is the real deal! I always look like I walked out of a salon with HEALTHY HAIR now instead of a do-it-yourself hair straightener job.

The flat iron works great and straightens well, but i have gone through 2 both with the same problem. I plug it in, and it no longer turns on. Its completley dead. Second time this has happened. Very disappointing.

This is a pretty good flat iron. I have owned it for about 1 week now, and I'm happy that I bought it. Pros: It gets your hair pretty straight, however, the first day of washing it, it didn't stay that straight, until maybe the 3rd or 4th day out and re-straightening my hair. I have long, thick, "wavy" hair and I usually have this problem with all irons. Cons: I noticed that the plates are not as smooth as the Sedu irons. I was at first worried about this, but they have seemed to have gotten a bit smoother over the past week. Either that or I'm getting used to the different feel of this iron. I like the 1" plate. I do own The Sedu 1.5" iron but it does not get to the roots of my hair, which are due for a touch up/relaxer. This Soila gets to my roots unlike the larger sedu. I have also owned the Sedu 1 1/4" iron, however after about 11 months, the cord had its electrical problems. I hope this Soila doesn't encounter the same problem since it also has a swivel cord.
All-in-all, this is a great flat iron to own, for thick, short or long hair. I definitely recommend it. I'll comment later on the extent of hair damage after I've owned this product a little longer...!

This straightener is amazing while it lasts. i had mine for 4 years and it still worked perfectly. my hair is wavy and it worked perfectly until one of the sides snapped in half, but overall it is a good buy.

amazing, amazing, amazing! I have gone through many flat irons and this is by far the best! It literally only takes me 5 minutes to get silky straight hair:) Also I have very long hair and have had trouble holding curls. This can be used as a curler as well and I have never had anything curl my hair like this before it is absolutely amazing and my curls hold all day long! I don't know how i ever went with out having this flat iron before! By far the best purchase I have made! :)

Okay I just got this flat iron a week ago. And have used it twice both with heat protection and on 375 and I must say my hair smells fried. I'm not impressed I think my conair did better.

I have had this straightener for about 3 years now. It has begun to fall apart, but it has seen its days. I have very curly, blonde, and fine hair and it has always made my hair smell burnt and given me very bad split ends, even with a heat protector spray. It also snags my hair a lot. What good I have to say about it is that it is a good straightener and gets the job done relatively quickly; however, I am thinking of trying a new brand... something that won't fry my hair so badly. Try it! You just may want a new one in a few years.

i've already had two crap conairs with no luck. the total of them both came out to about 50 dollars and it usually takes me a full hour to flat iron my hair. the other day, i was using my friends chi and i was SUPER tempted to get one until i noticed that pieces of my hair curled up after i straightened them. the temperature was too hot and i was sweating! the solia totally pwns the conairs and the chi's. as does the price ^_^

I bought this iron two months ago now and I absolutely love it!!! The secret is I use a little Chi silk infusion before flat ironing. This leaves my hair soft, bouncy, and shiny. I thought this wouldn't be as good as the Chi since that's what my professional stylist uses, but this iron get the same job done. My hair used to shed alot with my old iron, but this has also helped my split end and shedding. I am fully African American with black hair. If this works on my hair, then I know it will work for you.
